How do ii bring Launcher Pro back from the dead?

ii was bored with my phone, so ii decided to look for a new launcher. surprisingly, there arent any new ones worth trying. so ii said to myself, lemme check out Launcher Pro. got to the app page, and realized it hasn't been updated since May of 2011. why, you ask? Because the developer died in a car accident (or so im told). since this is the case, does anyone know how ii would go about gettin permission to edit and improve the app that changed how we see our launchers today?

Where did you hear that? I don't see anything in the launcher pro forums

Would LOVE to see LauncherPro resurrected, but i just don't think it is going to happen. As far as the developer dying in a car crash, I didn't see anything regarding that either.

ii saw it on a few comments on the interwebb. dont know how true it is tho. ii hope thats not the situation is, but that would definitely would explain the sudden halt of production.

EDIT: He also updated Uber music on july 29th, 2011. Looks like he's doing some work on Windows Phone 7 though.

Are you sure somebody didn't say "it's like" or "maybe he died"? The activity halt on it was sudden enough to definitely make people consider something of that nature for sure. For some reason I seem to remember my phone updating LP not too long ago, then again maybe I was dreaming. Who knows.
It was open source if I remember right. Not sure what license it was under though but maybe we should grab the code, update it, and rename it to 'XDA Launcher' or something like that

I really hope is claims this month of "Still working on it," are truthful. I hear LPP is completely incompatible with ICS.
While ADW and Go have some nice features, both of them result in sporadic lag on my phone.

Same here with other launchers, nothing but problems eventualy. LP is the only one that worked rock solid all the time. Hope someone updates it soon. Myabe even add some new features...

Not true, I'm running CM 9 ice cream sandwich on my galaxy S fascinate with launcher pro plus and never had a problem.

Awesome! I read a couple of places that it was broke and was sad. Now I am happy. lol

I saw on the lp forums the other day, supposedly there is an update, it just isnt released......I didnt look much further into it, but for those who care, might go look for it

The last I heard he's very much alive and well but he's running way behind on what he had hoped would be a major overhaul of the launcher. Still, it would be nice to see some minor updates to keep up with the latest apps and phones.

If there is an update, I would like to see the ability to make folders in the app drawer. It gets kinda cluttered, with a bunch of apps.

I remember reading a while back that updates stopped because it was as perfectly stable as possible and the dev had other stuff he wanted to work on. Heard about an update being made but taking longer than anticipated. This was back in November so I may be remembering wrong

True but honestly why would you leave such a great app behind!? The dev needs to update it or let someone run it.

Anyone know where the update is (Moto Connect)?

I found some references to a new version supposedly released yesterday

I'm interested in the "Moto Body" stuff. My biggest complaint so far in the fitness items on the 360 is they live only on the watch so you don't get much for a rich interface with history.. if moto body unifies this it would be pretty cool, so I'd like to play with it.

Motorola said it'll be released in a few days. So assume this weekend or early next week

I thought it might be a slow roll-out that other users had gotten already.. was hoping to side load and play around... I hate waiting!

nope . no gmail/call/hangouts .
no mention of it in features as well so looks like motorola skipped those .

I got the update. The new My Design way of making a watchface is very fast and looks great. Obviously not as detailed as Facer/WatchMaker, but not a bad solution considering.
Some of the new stock watchfaces were nice too. I can see my wife enjoying the "Blossoms" once, more so if you could make it automatically switch between the provided backgrounds, which can't be done as of now.

Same issue on my end, have the same watchface, but without the mini items on the lower half.

anyone see much of the "Moto Body" elements. I expected some more access to the fitness data coming off the watch on my phone, but other than changing the heading where my heigh/weight is stored in the app I don't see anything different.

just received a new software and stability update. Small in size. 7.45 MB. Had anyone else recieve it? If so, what did they improve? It's so incremental I can't even tell.

I just received it. I noticed two things after installing:
- The bluetooth/wifi/sidesync bug appears to be fixed. I also got a sidesync update today so that might be a factor.
- Overall wifi performance is better. I am getting faster wifi speeds than ever according to speedtest.net (33% faster download and about twice as fast upload). I'm surprised by the improvement. Maybe today is a fluke, but my desktop computer wifi speeds are about the same as they have always been. (time will tell) .

I've downloaded the rom from sammobile and its seems much snappier...

Agree. I too installed it and find the tablet much snappier. Wonder what performance improvement Samsung did though this update.

The performance is really noticeable, its a lot snappier and less micro lags

Can anyone try to find out if the problem with switching between 3G and 4G still exists, and if you still have to toggle flightmide for data to work again?

No updates for the SM-T805.
I have the france firmware installed.

Too bad the X05 models haven't received any update yet. If they did, and many of the existing issues were fixed in the process - I might aswell go ahead and buy a SM-T705!

OK. After a few days with the new update and I can safely agree with everyone else. It's definitely much more fluid and snappy, with no stutter effects, whatsoever. I wonder if this in preparation for the eventual lollipop update. We should see that around the first quarter of next year.

Same here. That's the reason I didn't yet update my S5. But I wouldn't mind playing around with LP a bit, even without Xposed. From what I've seen so far on other people's phones, I don't like it much, but I'd like to try it out on my own device. Too bad I can't afford to tinker with the S5, as it's my work phone...

We got bent over a little with how long its taking, but not too concerned ( been having wifi issues, fixes with a restart though)

Really dont understand why it takes so long for the update for a "flagship device"? Focusing on pushing more hardware without taking care of your existing customer's is bad PR IMO. I just want to try something new

I understand where you are coming from. I am looking forward to the update also but I would rather have an update that is finished then get an update that kills my battery life or has more bigs than a cheap whore.

Samsung probably already gave the rom to T-Mobile. T-Mobile then adds their stuff like wifi calling, VoLTE, advanced messaging, etc, then once they're done testing it for stability they push it out. So really it's not just samsung were waiting on.

Nexus comes stock with it. Google gave T-Mobile the firmware long ago.

We probably won't get an update until the s7 comes out, or worse case scenario when the new note and edge plus come out....sad but true

That's what I figured too...they want to push people to buy new products, probably won't come out till two months the after release of the S7 I'm guessing.

Yes they may have the Firmware from Google for the nexus but that doesn't mean it works with Samsung's phone. They will still have to test the modem and make sure it works well on their network. Still need to test stability with the firmware from Samsung.

That is for the unlocked model. Also, T-Mobile needs to add bloatware and test, which would take a few months probably.

I can never understand why people care about these mediocre updates sometimes, that even breaks the phone at times. When it comes it comes as long as it comes within a 6- 8 months of google releasing it im fine. The software on this phone is excellent now.

Because a lot of these people live t update things. Just keep wanting to update and not satisfied with current things. Sad really.

The t-mobile visual voice-mail update to support android 6.0 is a good sign.

Are you daft? The jump from L to M had a plethora of awesome features. And no, when all these other phones have M already it seems kind of ****ty that samsung, the biggest android phome manufacturer, is dragging behind like this.

Lol i dont know how people like you even end up at xda. Its all about doing what you want with your phone, which is getting harder and harder these days.

The new edge features in marshmallow looks sick, finally a really use for it imo. Hurry the eff up Samsung
