No Separate forum for the Edge? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

I know their both pretty much identical spec wise, does this mean everything that applies to the Note 4 applies to the Note 4 Edge to here?

I think there should be a separate forum. There are different software packages due to the sidepanel. There definately be a separate forum.

This is the thread to ask Admin for it. They weigh the factors such as popularity and units sold and amount of requests...otherwise there is a section for devices that have no forum.

[Q] Galaxy S3 vs Alternatives

Hey guys! Just thought I would post for some input on my current decision. I am thinking about selling my S3 for either the new Lumia 920 (totally different operating system, i know), nexus 4, or note 2. Are there any big advantages the other phones have to the S3? The thing is I am analyzing whether it is worth it or not to sell and "upgrade."
Selling the galaxy s3 for 450 and buying a nexus 4 for 350 and pocket 100$. That is if you sell your s3 now.

There already is another thread about nexus 4 and google is your best friend. None of us has that phone what makes you think we know more than you do?

Well I understand the situation of the nexus 4 but that's why I also asked about the other phones as well. I am just looking for input basically.

Note 2 would be the best upgrade. Nexus 4 is somewhat equal to the s3 and the lumia might be a step down from the s3.

How is the phone for note taking, despite the name "note." I am asking because I go to school and wanted something to take notes on in class. However I was also considering of just getting the Nexus 4 and a Nexus 7/10 for actual note taking.

With the little amount of note writing on it I have done, it seems pretty good. Handwriting recognition is very good. Yes its a big phone, but a little small for writing on, though.
I think the Nexus 4 looks great, and the price is definitely right, but I am so irritated that Google has opted to take out removable SD cards in their latest iterations. It was one of the great things about Android. I could expand my storage up to 64gb, or even swap out cards if I wanted to. That's literally the only reason I haven't been able to even put the Nexus 4 in the running for my next phone.
But I would probably trade my S3 plus some cash for a note 2. It looks awesome.

[Q] choosing between htc butterfly and note 2 - which one will you choose?

As the title suggests, which will u choose and why? My main criteria is for a bigger screen. I currently use s3 but I have no issues with switching to sense. I'm quite flexible. Thanks for your input!
P.s: currently using a s3 but want something with a bigger screen
If I were to move to HTC Butterfly, that would be only for the screen.
Anything else, I choose the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 all over it.
I really like the design and aesthetics of the Butterfly/Droid DNA but that's it. Note 2 beats it in every single way. I read a rumour that HTC will be coming up with a successor to it (not the One) so I'm looking out for that hoping it's good enough to prise me away from my Note 2. I don't like Samsung but I'm using their phones just because they are that good.
@skade: Since you're already using S3, I think you're better off waiting for Note 3 if you want a bigger screen. S3 is still a superb phone and the Butterfly is only 2" bigger.
Have played with both, own the Note for a reason. Butterfly has awful battery life and is, of all things, more plasticky than Samsung kit. Shame really.

Still though, I wouldnt grt the butterfly mainly due to battery life.
Well, for me nothing beats the note 2, yet, I guess people are most likely voting for the note 2 here, since you´re in the note 2 forum...
Personal preference, but I do like AMOLEDs over LCDs. Don't get me wrong, I used to love One X's display, but AMOLED has really spoiled me. The black on LCD now looks like purple compared to the true blacks in AMOLED.
I would choose One )

The HTC has an integrated battery and that's an instant deal breaker to me.
That aside, it has a much smaller screen anyway so if your main criteria are the screen dimensions why are you even considering that useless POS?
There is nothing else but the Note II for me, today. It has the most complete and the best HW and SW feature set.

Man, I have been stating this for Y-E-A-R-S!!!!!! All he/she had to do was go to GSMArena.com and do side-by-side comparsion. Note II beats this phone in every category!! I did this with my last 5 phones before I purchased. The Note II is not for everyone, but if your looking at Spec's........People just need to 1.) Read a little. 2.) visit store for 30 minutes!
NOTE: I stand corrected. HTC is 4.94oz. Note II is 6.46oz. HTC wins that category!

Ok, thanks again for directing me to the proper thread. Now I want the G2, the Galaxy Mega, or the Note III. Why the G2? It's the 4G advanced S4. The Mega.... well obviously I'm the type that can't afford to have a tablet and a phone simply because bills and no wifi atm.... The Note III I don't know I like it due to I loved the 2. What can be a deal breaker if there is no 2.5/6ghz (Clearwire LTE) connectivity, or no 800 lte. The Mega has mid-range specs compared to all phones listed above, its a bigger less powerful S4, not a phone I want to be with two years from now so I'll be fine with either the G2 or the Note III (depending on the LTE bands it supports)

i read that the G2 doesn't do SVDO or (the real deal killer) SVLTE, wassupwitdat?
CDMA1X, EV-DO, GSM, W-CDMA, and LTE all share the same transmit path, thus no SVDO nor SVLTE. Meh didnt care for it too much, it was nice when i had LTE when I was on the phone

I thought the same, but many of us came from the Galaxy Note 1 where it was the same difference, 5.3 to 5.5
Alot of it depends on screen quality difference for me, and it would have to be much better for me to pull the trigger on it

I still have the note 1 too. There was a significant difference in software, battery and performance between 1&2. There is not much on the s4 that I can't do on the note 2. I use my 2 for work and a bigger screen would be a benefit. Not saying I won't get the 3 but if the rumours hold true , in my case, there would be no benefit to upgrade. Will see what Sept 4th reveals.

this is the smart thing to do..
I grabbed a note 8.0 a couple of months ago, and it is fantastic; there was a BIG difference between the note 1 and 2, so it made it a worthwhile upgrade; going from the note 2 to the note 3 appears to be nothing more than bragging rights, about having the newest phone.
Until the Note 3 actually comes out, none of these "leaks" have any relevance to most people anyways, so we will just have to wait and see..
I'm happy with my Note 2. The same as I was with my GS2, thus skipping the 3. However, I'm excited to hear about the new software features - I want to see a photo editor that really takes advantage of the digitizer.

I would be surprised if we see 4.3 on our device anytime soon. I bet it will be at least 2014 before we see it.
It makes sense from business standpoint to not upgrade the Note 2 to 4.3 while the Note 3 is out for a bit.
Same reason why the Galaxy S3 was never upgraded to 4.2. They want to heat on the S4 as long as they can.

Ya think? From what I've been reading (rumors) it seems like Samsung will be skipping 4.2 in favor of 4.3 and it sounded like its not far off. Maybe within the next couple of months. It would be nice but what you said makes sense also. I guess time will tell.
Wow that pic really shows how lame an upgrade this is. 6'' would have been the natural progression for note 3. This pic makes me feel even more disappointed.

Well, xperia z ultra is horrendous. Great specs but very unwieldy looking. To much upper and lower bezel. One max looks interesting but buying HTC is as likely for me as buying an iPhone (not in this lifetime). Will wait and see what they show before condemning it for screen size alone.
Sent from my SGH-I317 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Problem for me is that, screen size is pretty much the main thing I would like to improve over my Note 2. The multi windows or floating windows option would be much better on a slightly bigger screen not to mention other apps making it more productive using other apps that can benefit from the added size.
The Z ultra has horrible bezels but I dont mind that much. If it was not for the stupid battery I would be all over it.
HTC...well I had a Tilt 2 once..that was my only HTC so not a big fan but at least it is 6".
Then again, I probably wont have floating windows with those so is all a tough decision but looks maybe I will just keep my Note 2 for now :/

Me Too...
It depends on the CPU/RAM for me, at the moment.
1080 would be a nice increase in resolution, but if you are happy with the note 2 (as many of us are) so far, the note 3 doesn't seem like a big step up from what we got already.
That said, I've got an upgrade coming up in a couple months, on one of my lines. So I could get the note 3 on upgrade and not spend a dime.
But, we don't know the whole picture yet.
If they frack with the internals like they did on the note 1, I'm probably going to skip the note 3. Unless the north american version is top tier, and not cutting corners on slower memory or a cut back CPU, it's going to be a hard sell for note 2 owners like all of us.
T0LTE : DEVIL : SLIM
You have to remember people wanting the screen to get much bigger are a minority, they have to go the way business tells them. After the looks I get with the note already I can safely say most people already consider it huge, so it makes sense they wouldn't want to push it to the point where they would lose most of their sales. We definitely represent a small minority here

Yeah, I agree with this. Most of the people that wanted a bigger screen are the ones in the rooting and modding community. Everyone else that I have met or know always say "man that's a big phone" or "that's just too big". How unfortunate.
I would have actually preferred to have the phone size reduced without the loss of the screen size, but a slight increase in the screen size with much higher resolution is not bad either. Any larger than the current size would be uncomfortable to carry around. If so, it would be better to buy the Note 8 instead!
