I was just wondering how everyone typically sets up there various pages on the Tab S. I found it kind of strange how by default only a few of the main apps show up on the homescreen and then to access all the other apps you have to click the app button in the bottom right corner. Would it make more sense to move all the apps out of the apps page and put them on the various homepage screens? That way you could flip through everything similar to an ipad and have no need for that app button screen. Is there a specific reason to have the majority of the apps accessed through the app button screen?
Im still pretty new to this so Im still learning and any input or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

The homescreen is so you can put shortcuts to your most important apps just like in windows, and the app drawer shows all the apps because some app icons can ruin the look of the homescreen as their icon is ugly I would personally keep homescreen for apps you need most and widgets. This is my homescreen for an example I keep it nice and clean got most important at homescreen and access others using app drawer.

There's a reason why IOS has all apps on each pages. While on Android you can choose what apps you want on your home screen. It's for customization.

Exactly that's the beauty of Android, you can make it how you want it unlike Apple's iOS where all you can do is change the wallpaper!
Ok I just found out that my newly downloaded apps show up on my home screens but still remain on my apps page if I remove the icon. I am still slowly learning. Thanks for the input.

It would be great for people to share their home screen setups, I'm interested to see what is possible with ICS
Unfortunately I can't attach my screenshot as I can't post external links yet.
You can take a screenshot within ICS by pressing the volume down button and power button at the same time.

I'm still not decided about the Google search bar, so far I can ignore it but it does mean if you are going for a minimalist look , you can't

It's not actually a widget it's a live wallpaper called "wp clock" that has the ability to have a custom background added.

When moving icons and folder on a screen you cant just put them anywhere you want its locked to a grid so is there a way to be able to put folders and icons anywhere you want on the screen?

If you want your folder/app stick to the point where u left your finger and not in the 4*4 grid - so you want it to stick at the exact position - well you can't. Don't know even why would you like to do that? You could mess with your shortcuts easily
Hope fully this will give everyone a better idea of what I am on about.

It would be nice to have total control but unfortunately we don't. I used to have launchers plus on my desire and it is probably the kind of thing you are looking for. Instead of a 4x4 grid you can change it to many others. For instance a 5x6 which would nearly double the amount of icons you could have on screen. You could also resize widgets which was handy. And if I remember correctly you could even have more quick launch icons at the bottom. Very nice app.

The Google Sound Search thing is pretty neat but I would rather not dedicate 4x1 of home screen real estate to its widget. Has anyone found another way to call it up? I've tried searching through the Play Music app but don't see anything in there with similar functionality.

Google Search app, click on the Microphone icon. Is that what you're referring to as Sound Search?
You see those two icons???? Click it and it will open up only voice.
The blue is stock with be phone, the other is Nova.

If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^
That's not what I'm talking about it. I'm talking about the new in JB "Sound Search" widget that is basically Google's take on Shazam/Soundhound/etc. The only way I've found to start it is by adding the widget to a home screen and then tapping on it when you want it to start trying to identify a song. Here's an article on it: http://www.androidauthority.com/google-sound-search-whats-this-song-now-available-for-ics-98773/
However, the widget is 4x1 and is not resizable (at least with the stock launcher). I don't want to clutter up my home screens keeping it up full time but adding it deleting it each time I want to ID a song is cumbersome too. I would be nice if there was another way to get to that function.
Talkin about that???

I haven't found any other way to launch it, aside from the 4x1 widget, so I don't bother using it. (But I'm sure with a little digging someone would be able to find a way).
I use Soundhound which gives you a 1x1 icon.

And Soundhound will search through a larger library of music.
The Google Widget only displays results for music sold in the Play Store (Clever, Google. Clever.).

What exactly are you asking though? I've never used car dock so I'm not sure what you want
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2
Well when you pop it in a dock, the dock home screen comes up. In the Accessory menu, you can turn it off, but you can't change it to a different app.
Threads about this online suggest to clear the data for the dock home screen apk, but I don't see anything like it in the ALL applications list.
To make it more complicated, I don't see a Navigation apk in that list either, so even if it came down to app choice to fill the void, I might only be able to go as far as Maps.
Just wondered if anyone knew anything about an app or something to get it to do what I want: docked and loads Navigation.

Hello
I just bought my op9p, and so far we get along.
On my home page, there's a page with Goggle news and things to the left that I do not want.
Does anyone know how to get rid of it? I've looked at many settings.
It is symbolized by 3 little lines, like a menu bar, on the home screen.
Thank you
