What happened to get you to that point? Were you flashing firmware?
Does the device respond to commands over usb?

I flashed a stock GPE recovery to install the lolipop OTA and instead of booting into recovery it took me to the splash screen.

Try to hold volume up and power for 15 sec, it will turn the device off. Then you can boot in bootloader with vol down and power.

Hard Restart

I have never had a phone with non-removable battery .
sometimes a custom rom is stuck before boot and we need to remove the battery for a restart.
I was wondering with this phone what will happen if it is stuck in boot logo or ... ?!
-Hold power button+Vol Down for Bootloader..
or
-Hold power button for about 5 secs for restart..
HTC decided to change things for the M8.
Hard reset is now power button + vol up for 10 seconds
Bootloader is still power button + vol down (after rebooting / powering up from Off)

Power and vol up for 10 seconds. When the screen turns off, switch to vol down while still holding power
Or,uncheck fastboot, power off. Power on holding vol down.
Or,an app like quickboot
Or,the advance power menu of some custom roms

No bootloader no recovery. Stuck on htc quietly brilliant screen

I was flashing a new rom yesterday. But during flashing, the recovery 'hang'ed. I pressed the power button for a few seconds, it restarts to the htc quietly brilliant screen. Now I can't access bootloader or recovery using Power + Vol buttons. Please help

Turn off the phone completely press power button for about 10-15 sec then try with 1. volume down and then press power button no way to not go in bootloader. The hangs on the recovery can't broke your phone.

Still can't go to bootloader. I tried different ways. Press the power button then the vol down button. Press them at the same time. Vol down first then power button. Still stuck on the same screen even after I pressed it for minutes

After half an hour, now I can go into bootloader! What to do next ?
Edit: I flashed a new recovery. Flashed a new rom. Now all is back to normal. Thanks for your help.:good:
I was excited to wait a new ROM since in a couple of days ago, when I turn on my phone the HTC white screen is stuck when I attempted to install the new ROM (4.2.2). Even pressing the power button, volume buttons and bottom slides won't work.
Is there a chance to repair my phone?

Hold HOME, POWER, and VOLUME UP for 10-15 seconds. When you see the black and white Galaxy Tab 3 logo, you can release the POWER button.
Thanks. It also works by pressing power + volume up and then, when you see logo, releasing the power button. Thanks a lot!!

How long are you holding VOL-UP? If I recall correctly, it must be held until the device vibrates.
UPDATE: Oops, that was just for the power button. Hold the VOL-UP button until you get the Android robot.

Before I flashed the new update I'm able enter fashboot easily, by holding vol up +pow after vibrate unhold power button,
But now by doing this combination, I only see usb logo, I think the update broke the fastboot mode?
maybe you forgot to remove root, xposed or busybox before update.without fastboot cant imagine what you can do.maybe you bricked.I hope not.good luck.

Can't get into RECOVERY.

When I power on my m8 it gets frozen on htc one screen.
when i press power+volume down it just simply power on
Please help.
While phone is off:
Hold down Volume+Down, then hold down Power. Keep them both held down until you're booted to Recovery.

No, that takes you to the bootloader. From there select hboot and the option to boot to recovery is there in the hboot menu.

Yes, folks (incorrectly) often use the 2 terms interchangeably (recovery and bootloader). But recovery and bootloader are very different things. On this device, there is no button combo that boots directly to recovery (although bootloader gets you close).
