I'm seen a lot of battery usage from Android System, even more than the screen usage (44%). I can't figure out what is is, does anyone have any suggestions?
same here, my phone drops 20% overnight/7 hours or so.
searched for a lot of solutions online, nothing works.
android os/google play services/ etc seems to be the reason.
im using gsam 60% over 12 h with 2.30 h SOT. LTE + wifi mixed usage.
im thinking of converting to GPE lollipop. If anyone has a solution please help.
Are you using custom ROM? Perhaps, the problem is in a custom ROM.
1st step, please post some screenshots of your battery life in your settings > power
2nd step, go to play store and download gsam and use your phone for a day or two after which post some screenshots of gsam.
3rd step, please indicate what ROM and kernel you're running (assuming you've)
4th step, I believe someone here will be more than willing to help you if you ask nicely
Hey..thx for reply.

Have you tried a factory reset? Or maybe post screenshots from your battery app thats in settings?
Your wakelocks seems to be quite high as well as your wakelocks are what I would have gotten after 30hrs or so standby with 5~6hrs of SOT
I also did a full reset. Cache clear and battery calibration....im always on lte at work and on wifi at home...sometimes overnight i only drop 2%. Last night droped 20%.

Have you turned off location services and stuff? They could be the cause of your battery drain...
Everything is off. Rooted last night...uninstalled facebook zoe and polaris.
Only 2% drain overnight 6hours...seems ok...im gonna keep and eye on it...with wakelock detector.
Thx

Facebook and its apps are huge battery drainer. Guess that explains why your battery had such a big drop

I don't think root helped you
The factory reset when you unlocked your bootloader must have helped you! There's a root companion app for gsam, download it and enable root access, will help with the stats.
Flashed gpe 5.0.1.

Seems to me that you have something eating up your battery overnight... I'm not very sure whether its a rogue app or maybe mediascanner (if you have too much stuff on your internal storage)
I have VERY similar drain to what you had on the Sense ROM.
I am on GPE 5.0.1 atm. And it is what I put the phone on since I got it (got it used btw, but in good condition).
I unplugged around 9am, checked back at 12pm and it was 96% or so. Not very happy with that, shouldn't it be less?
I had 35% with 2.5Hrs SOT and that was around 8 hours later, NOT impressed at all!
Anyhow, I'm gonna wipe dalvik and regular cache and post a full (or close to) drain in gsam, will use it normally (like I would!)
I hope this thread isn't dead yet
P.S.: I had location on, it is now off (made no difference at ALL!).
I have BT On (but I've seen other ppl's drain, it's almost negligible because it's 4.0 LE and sync'd to Moto 360).
I have FB Messenger installed, WeChat, Hangouts and that's it for chat apps.
EDIT:
M8 wouldn't boot after updating SuperSU binary through the app and into recovery mode automatically (never again, I should ALWAYS just do it myself *sigh*).
Anyway, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik and loading GPE again through RUU.
Flashed Hypernova kernel as well.

Have you tried installing current widget to see what is exactly happening, or how much voltage is going through your phone, even though it's sleeping? (ie, screen off)

This happened to me a few times (with almost no apps running) on RC7. Updating to 2.01 seems to have fixed that for me.
If that doesn't help, try using a different kernel and/or a different radio version and see if that works for you (we're reduced to experimentation as nobody has ben able to determine what exactly causes this issue).
I'm well impressed with mine. I went to bed with it fully charged, used it a bit in bed, always play a game and check the forums. Not plugged in at all and woke up this morning and its still fully charged!!
Amazing, since I have yahoo messenger running always. Been using it a lot since I woke up and now on 96% but I know its mainly the screen that uses a lot.
Brilliant ROM tbh
See if this helps:

well it's not really going to save your battery life, it just lets you see when/how the battery is being used up
Yes we can atleast know what apps are eating our battery.

I have RC1 and my better life is terrible. Gotta figure out why.
Guys, I don´t know what happened but 2 or 3 days ago I started noticing that every once in a while my battery starts draining super fast. I mean 10% in 20min. I went to bed yesterday with 67% and when I woke up I had zero battery. I notice that when this is happening the phone gets really hot. I didn´t change anything on the phone but I did get some updates these days (1 small system update, facebook, smooth calendar, facebook, whatsapp.....at least I think these were the ones). Any ideas what might be happening? It´s random thing. Yesterday it was good all day long and then at night it happened.
I´ve just tried doing a factory reset but nothing happened.

Sometimes an app prevents your phone from going yo deep sleep. Install betterbatterystats. It shows which apps are causing wakeblocks. Uninstall all apps. Also, which rom and kernel u use?

When I go to power and then usage, the biggest consumers there are "Android System" (54%) and "HTC Sense" (24%). I´ve downloaded Gsam Battery Monitor and it tells me sreen 50% and app usage 46%. When I click in app usage it tells me Android System 20% and Kernel 9,6%.
I have no idea if these numbers are excessive or not.
I did a factory reset and I´m not charging the phone to check out how long it takes to go down from 100%.

You can only do this with an unlocked bootloader and have flashed a custom recovery.
It's all in the 'One X All In One Kit'. Search for it .

So you think that when you are at 100% of your battery, you suddenly get access to the recovery?... (this is what you literally say)
Or did you mean to say that your battery stats are wiped when the battery is at 100% .
Still I think that the second explanation is one big whoop, since my battery used to drain life too with a dubious combination of kernel, recovery and ROM. A fully charging of the battery (which I do every night) did not make this problem go away.

Wiping battery stats does nothing. It's already been shown. Search Google. It's not going to magically make your battery lady longer
Unfortunately
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
In fact wiping the batt stats will not make your phone last longer on a full charge, it resolve the problem that the rom will not display wrong batt info
That's what i learned
As what Mr S says ... didn't see your post while i was writing mine
Factory reset resolved it

Glad you got it working.
But just to reinforce this for other people: wiping battstats does nothing. Your battstats are reset everytime you charge too 100%.

So does this mean battery calibration after installing a new ROM is useless? Or is that different than wiping battery stats?

Pretty much lol. I mean theres no harm in it but its a waste of time because lithium ion/polymer batteries don't have a memory effect.
So pretty much after you flash a new rom, just use it as per normal. I've tried a lot of different scenarios over the past 3 or so years with battery calibration and roms and never noticed anything significant. Mostly placebo
Edit: with that said, if you feel more comfortable doing a calibration and you feel your battery is better. Just keep calibrating
For example: when I flash a rom, I still wipe dalvik cache out of habit even though devs have already said it gets wiped when you do a full wipe lol

Hey everyone, I'm experiencing some pretty bad battery drain. I've had my phone off the charger for an hour and its already down to 75% and I've barely used it. I checked my battery usage and Google Services are taking up 75% of my usage. Is this normal and if not is there a fix that anyone knows of?

I would start with going over to android central and the HTC one forums, they have a sticky post about battery life here http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one/269518-htc-one-battery-life-stats-discussion.html
Looks like you should turn off your GPS and location, and turn off your sync. Download the gsam battery monitor. It will help you out too.
Thank youuuu

I think that's within usual standards of our Sense 5.
but if you are really complaining about it
1-use system wake detector from play store and see whats wasting your battery
or
2- try factory reset your device
I did a factory reset, charged to 100% and left my phone for a night to see wakelocks.

If you don't use google now, google + disable them in settings/apps/all, you will have more free ram and better battery, i did it and everything work the same.
Hi, I just got a nexus 7 (its been a month now) when the device is on standby it drains all the battery, in fact it only lasts 6h. In the battery usage, all there is is 'tablet idle' and 'WiFi'.
Till now I have tried clearing the cache partition, restoring factory defaults (more than once) and even signing in with a different user after factory defaults, nothing helps!
I managed to get proper battery usage maybe once or twice.
When this happens the top right part of the tablet gets really hot!
Any clues? Should I return it back to the US?

man it could be anything....more than likely though you have a rogue app that likes to kill your battery. The best thing to do is go through your apps, and delete them one by one to see if you can pinpoint the app that is hogging the battery.
Just an update on this. I found out which app was draining my tab, believe it or not, it was the official google now launcher!
