[Q] Still worth an upgrade? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking to upgrade to a new phone since I've had my Droid Maxx since it came out, but I'm not in a hurry. I keep hearing that this LG G3 is just fantastic. Any thoughts on upgrading now or waiting? I'm on Verizon and don't see much in Phone Arena about anything coming out that I am really interested in except, maybe, the Nexus6. My droid Maxx gets outstanding battery life which is a great relief after coming from my Galaxy Nexus that could not last for 6 hours.
TIA!

Sure is still worth the uograde only had mine a few weeks and so glad i got it. Some people complain about lag but personally i get no lag or over heating battery is great on stock / stock based as well as cm12/ aosp would recommend this device.

Thank you for some input from someone else who just came over to the G3 side. I appreciate your feedback.

You'll get a lot of opinions from this thread.

I say go for it.
My wife and I have been on the iPhone 5 for a bit more than 2 years and I really didn't want to pay $200+ to upgrade (was having camera issues). So when my friend found the G3 on Amazon for $0.01 on contract I gave it some serious thought.
With the exception of the over-sharpening I gotta say that this device is nearly perfect! Great camera, nice specs and I have 96GB of space with a SD card! That is pretty awesome.
After using it for a few weeks my wife started getting jealous of the large screen size and nice camera so I got her one too.
Running http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/development/rom-barrin-odexed-deodexed-t2950747 to get the upgrade kernal and to get rid of the over-sharpening.

I was on an HD RAZR with an unlocked bootloader and this phone screams over that one. For me, it was worth it, even though I lost my unlimited data plan on Verizon.
However, Verizon offers those still on the unlimited data plan to move to a 6gb max plan for the $30/month, so that's what I did. Not sad at all that I switched.
The battery life I get on this phone is excellent.
Also, here is a comparison of the LG 3 vs. the Droid MAXX (and get the 32gb version of the G3. You get 3gb memory rather than 2gb like on the 16gb version):
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/LG-G3,Motorola-DROID-MAXX/phones/8347,7970?ft=2
About the one thing that the MAXX outshines the LG3 on is the battery. The LG3 has a 3000 mAh battery while the MAXX has a 3300 mAh.
Oh, and there is a microSD slot that handles up to 128gb cards on the G3. That was a BIG selling point for me.

Get Samsung galaxy nexus for wife or not?

My wife got her first smartphone about 8 months ago. got the samsung stratosphere. had it for about 2 months until I got the samsung galaxy S3 at which point she wanted my rooted thunderbolt. The thunderbolt has gotten very laggy no matter which Rom I throw on there. CleanRom worked well for about a week and then it started its usual lack of performance. When I first got it, it was snappy, quick and smooth. Now it just isn't and i dont know why since I'm doing a clean factory wipe with CWM. She is getting tired of me tinkering around with it trying to get it to perform well. Wants a new phone and is thinking the incredible 4g, razr M or the samsung galaxy nexus.
wanted to see what people thought, who have the galaxy nexus. Would you recommend it again or would you rather go with a newer phone like the Dinc 4g or razr m?
No regrets here. You can never go wrong with Pure Google, and with third-party ROMs you always have the latest Android version before, well especially before the Dinc 4G or RAZR M.
I wouldn't say there's much difference between 5MP and 8MP, and the only reason I'd go for either of the other two phones is for SD storage, which even now I'm losing interest in, but it's nice to have that stuff somewhere separate from the phone.
Plus, I am pretty sure the GalNex is the cheapest, on or off contract..
As far as famous issues go, no inductive charging (come on even the Thunderbolt had that), Micro USB port tends to fail, but that's kind of an all-phone sort of thing IMO, and of course AMOLED screen burn-in. All are nominal issues considering they happen typically after at least a year of use.
My 2.
Good luck!

I had the g2 then the g2x and now the gnex. I personally think this is still one of the best phone around, hands down. Direct Google updates, unlocked (can use any gsm carrier prepaid or postpaid), great screen and decent pics. The developer support will be continuous until the hardware can no longer support the os. Money wise, its the cheapest high end smart phone you can get, period (and I don't think this phone is "cheap", its hardware is great and handles everything I throw at it).
*** edit ***
I noticed your on Verizon, slow updates through Verizon, but the development community will provide those... Plus you can get a 32gb as compared to the gsm 16gb.

I would just get her an iphone that way she can have something that works properly most of the time while you have your android device to play with. It works for me.:good:

For something that "just works" with minimal effort the iDerp is the way to go.
Android can be laggy when "external" SD Card memory size is full, e.g. if 16GB SD Card have only 1GB free memory. makes Android slower..
by doing full Wipe, data factory reset then it should be much faster..
Galaxy Nexus's battery life is not so good so it's better to use older Android phone if wants phone with good battery life...
I'll put it like this. i have had several phones of all brands and companies i just had the nexus 4 sold it. i have the s3.it sits on my desk. The note 2 is hooked to a TV in the guest room for streaming. all the phones I have and have i come back to the nexus. i chose to make it my main driver. i don't even swap sims anymore. Galaxy nexus just works. and we have great devs that make things work even better. and help out. do that on a iPhone. also as
Sd storage is a thing of the past. cloud storage is here.. and it's fast. Anyway nexus gsm with a year straight talk plan works fine for me.. well great actually.. even with Verizon i wouldn't get any other phone. especially since i seen in my area Verizon offering then free or 50 bucks on contract.. roll with it.

The op asked, i gave my answer. Ya give her an iphone and then nobody here will be tempted to screw with it and mess it up. All her friends will say "Oh it's an iphone, how nice!". Otherwise let her shop for an android phone and pick out what she wants, all the top phones are pretty solid. Obviously the s3 is the hot phone now, but for some it's a little large.
She has the Thunderbolt? Good god, man. You're just asking for all kinds of trouble there. You don't give a woman a Thunderbolt. Even men can't stand that phone.
For a woman, you need a trouble-free phone like the:
-Galaxy S3
-Galaxy Note 2 (women actually like it a lot and have more reason to use it because they carry a purse or bag)
-iPhone 5
-Nokia Lumia 920
Seriously. These are the only phones women actually enjoy using. The Nexus is great but its more for geeks than ladies.
Get her a white Gnex, turn it into a takju with a clean flash of the 4.2.1 factory image and you're good to go. Hassle free stock software from then on...

She's going to complain about the battery life. He should NOT get the Nexus for a woman. I'm being serious here. The other phones I suggested are much better for a woman. You guys keep assuming that women will like what you like. They don't. They're very different. You don't give a woman a phone with any big flaws, and the big flaw with the Galaxy Nexus is battery life.
I say get her the Galaxy Note2 my wife saw it the other day and was like damn I should've waited and got that instead of the iPhone(she got her iPhone a week before note 2 came out)

Yep. Women love the Galaxy Note 2 more than men do, seemingly. It's like the size of a paperback book or personal organizer that women carry around in their purse. If they can do everything on a device like that, they're happy, and the battery life on it is amazing.
Hell, I'm probably going to get the Galaxy Note 3 next year if Google screws up again and makes yet another glass-backed Nexus phone.
thank you all for the replies. I was not expecting for there to be so many just night.
The other thing I needed to mention is that she does NOT want to spend much. I would love her to have the S3 like I do but she wont spend the money to get it. This is why she was looking into the incredible 4g or moto razr m. both are $49 currently.
If money eliminates the note2, go with the nexus. I got it cheap and got the Samsung extended battery. I have no problem getting almost a full day with moderate usage. If I am at work, it goes in airplane mode between breaks. After work I still have almost a full charge. And the phone charges FAST! I have no complaints. With 2 GS2's and a GS3 in the family, my gnex still has the best performance and least issues of all.

On the subject of battery life I'm going to add that my stock battery gsm gnex gets better battery life than any android phone I've previously owned or handled.
But based on the reports of battery life with lte I would possibly agree with cadude the Verizon nexus might not be the best choice. I don't know though, maybe it's no different than any other lte equipped phone. I've always used gsm.

I bought GNex for my girlfriend and she loves it. Stock Android is rock stable and super fast. She won't change it for any other phone. Until I get her Nexus 4, maybe?
If you hated the battery life on the Bolt you will hate the VZW Galaxy Nexus more. I went from one to the other last year and u was surprised, I though the bolt had the worst battery of them all.
Otherwise here's my .02 -
If you want to extend/new contract - you cannot go wrong with an S3. Great battery life, expandable memory and Touchwiz 's no tinkering to get great features aspect are great selling points to people who don't want to tinker with the phone.. My wife is a perfect example Lol. Not to mention the camera is 2nd to none on android devices now.
If you don't want a contract I would get a used VZW Nexus. Deal with the battery for a great price.
If your wife wants a smaller device - get the RAZR M. Its quite an amazing little device. All the power/specs of the S3 in a handy little package. I've heard it has great battery too

Ok so you're on Verizon. Trust me, a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon is TERRIBLE. You simply do NOT want that phone. She will definitely complain about the battery because the LTE drains even more on a Verizon Gnex than a GSM Gnex.
Good news for you though! You can upgrade on your Verizon account with Amazon Wireless, and they'll give you another Samsung Galaxy S3 for $99.99 which isn't much more than 50 bucks and the same price as the Verizon Gnex from the Verizon store.

Verizon offering "similar replacement". Opinions?

So the terrible radio in this phone may be forcing me to ditch it. I'm on call for work, and recently my phone had been missing calls and texts. They just don't come through. I will get a Google Voice notification and no record of a call ever happening. Verizon is offering a "similar model replacement" of basically a HTC Rezound, Droid 4, or maybe a RAZR Maxx. Any info from anyone with experience with these phones would be great. Pros and cons, what I'll be missing from the GNex. I do plan to root and ROM whatever I do get.

I used a razar maxx there alright, not the best quality screen, but just for web email and other work stuff should be fine. I just found it to not be the best looking phone out there but spec wise still has dual core and a gig of ram and a better 8mp HD camera.

Tried that right off the bat. Told it was "impossible". His words were it would be like having a Toyota carolla and wanting a Lexus as a replacement. His exact words. I have to pick a phone from 2011. I didn't push him too hard about it, but I may call back for a supervisor.

That's pretty ridiculous. I'd definitely ask for a supervisor. You pay them plenty of money a month, and I'm sure they're going to make you sign a new contract. They don't make their money off the phones, push them hard enough and I'm sure they'll give you better hardware in order to keep you paying monthly.

Too bad the development scene for the Droid 4, and RAZR Maxx isn't all that great. There isn't much to flash.
However, if you ignore the development part, they still kinda suck. Motorola phones have terrible cameras, and the worst SAMOLED I have ever seen (think our GNex has a lot of spots, check out a RAZR), some of them have failed and have had hardware problems, random restarts, fc's, no matter what ROM you'd be one.
You may have better luck than my friends and I though.
The Rezound, since it is an HTC phone is gonna give you some mad battery life issues.
Your choices suck man, I feel bad for you. Get a Galaxy S3 or even a Note (1 or 2, they rock)
I wouldn't choose any of those phones over a GNex.
If however this doesn't renew your contract, I'd pick the Razor Maxx if you want battery life, or the Rezound if you want to keep using the higher resolution screen. Then you can at least get calls and stuff for the few months until your contract runs out and you can get an actual upgrade. If this renews your contract RUN AWAY!

Really? Wow, that really is a tough choice then. Those three phones are all terrible compared to even the GNex.
Well, my Gnex just died on me and I forced an early upgrade. Is it the original Maxx they're trying to offer you or the Maxx HD? I got the Maxx HD and I love it so far. The screen is brighter and clearer than what my Gnex had and the radios perform so much better. My only issue was the stock launcher was slightly laggy but after installing Nova again the lag has disappeared. While there isn't much to flash I'm not that concerned. Oh, and only having to charge every two days vs. every 6 or 7 hours is definitely a huge plus.

This would not renew my contract. I'm still weighing my options when my contract runs out in December. So the Razr Maxx seems to be out do to the "extended internal battery" that the GNex does not have, which makes it not a comparable phone. I haven't heard back through email with the rep I've been talking to since he said the Maxx was not comparable. I may just say give me a Rezound, suck up the last few months with Verizon and go T-Mobile in December. I think I'll give a S3 one more shot with a supervisor tonight. It really is too bad that the radio on this phone is so pathetic.

Yes, I renewed. Well, technically, it was renewed through a family member's line that didn't have a data plan. So, when I activated the phone, there was only about 10 minutes worth of data before we switched the phone over to my line. So, I did not sign a new contract and was able to upgrade my phone and keep unlimited data. Obviously, you're in a different situation, but it was a nice way around not having to go to a 2GB plan while getting a new phone. The person whose upgrade I used has no desire to have a smartphone or data plan so it worked out.

So screen, battery and overall fluidity will be worse on the Rezound than the GNex? It is frustrating that they say the Maxx is not comparable.
S*#t I would've brought up the NFC chip..the gs3 and gnex look basically the same on paper besides the 2 gigs of ram...what other phone had NFC during that time..maybe I just like to ***** and complain to those bozos. But I guess I'm the bozo for signing a contract with them..

None of these options are great, especially (again) with the Maxx ruled out. The Droid 4 is respectable, although the screen is only qHD and the battery is smaller. You do at least get microSD and a slider keyboard for your pains though.
So seems there is pretty much a consensus on the hatred of the Rezound. I haven't had a chance to call back and push for the S3 or the Maxx.

One 15 minute call, one rep, and I have an S3 coming my way tomorrow. He offered the RAZR Maxx, right away since I was having signal issues. I suggested the S3, and he agreed right away that it was an option. He said he has done signal issue replacements on the S3 also, so he was hesitant for that reason. I said I would be more comfortable with the S3, and he said no problem. I don't get a battery door or a battery, but I snagged a Rinke Slim case and a battery for about 20 bucks total on Amazon. I'll try no battery door with the case only and see how that goes. So that's it, I will unfortunately be leaving the GNex family in a few days. Its amazing how different it can be from one rep to another.

Galaxy Nexus: Do I need an upgrade?

So through work, I have acquired the moto x dev edition for verizon. My gnex is going to a good home (my father). So here are my thoughts which I am going to post on my blog. The main question, is it worth upgrading the gnex? Honestly, if you are buying a phone outright I do NOT think its worth it unless you care about a few new things. The gnex actually performs nearly as good as my new moto x (assuming you have rooted and customized it to). Here is my review:
I currently have 2 verizon phones - the galaxy nexus and the moto x from verizon. Here is what I have done to both phones before I give my review:
Gnex - I have rooted it and installed the latest 4.4 nightly from cyanogenmod. I have installed pacrom, aokp, etc as well and AOKP is definitely my favorite ROM but I am giving this phone to my father and think CM will be easiest for him as it updates itself through an OTA update.
Moto x - I have rooted it, installed Xposed (for gravitybox), deleted bloatware, and got it tether ready.
Reviews:
Speed/lag - I never noticed lag with my motox. Now that I have the moto x I am noticing where there was lag on my gnex. However, I dont think most people would notice it. It is not significant and doesnt make the phone perform any better/worse.
size - both are around the same size. the moto x is a bit smaller and screen appears to be the same size.
camera - i didnt notice a difference here and i dont really use the cams much either.
battery - much better on my motox. I get about 24hrs more. I think i got around 12-15 hours on average on my gnex and am getting 36+ on my moto x. i did have the 2200 size on my gnex too. this could be a breaking point for many people but i was able to go through the day and just charge each night with my gnex.
tethering - tethering was simple on my gnex. i just pushed the button and it works. it worked with a million tethering apps too. the moto x was not easy. it does not work with any of those apps. i had to go in and work in terminal to get tethering to work. i have a feeling i will need to do this with each OS upgrade too. I am not looking forward to it. It was not something a beginner will be able to easily do.
bloatware - none on the gnex. tons on my moto x. i had to delete it all but again this was easy once rooted.
active display - this is awesome. it is on both phones though. on the moto x its just automatically there. on my gnex i need to download dynamicnotifications app. i think each version (the app vs the native moto x app) each have some advantages over one another. this will be a preference thing but both basically function in the exact same way.
moto connect - Now this is new to me and I am really loving it. I can text - send and receive texts from my browser. This is really awesome as I work from home and dont alway have my phone on me. I can also take calls this way too. Very awesome. It could be worth upgrading for just this feature alone.
Dev support - tons of dev support for the gnex. it cant really be beat except for N5. Moto x seems good too just dont think it will ever be as good as a nexus device.
Company support - none for the gnex. phone is past its 18 months. seems like motorola is doing a great job with the moto x and I have a feeling that they will support longer than the standard 18 months given how they are still pushing this phone.
Overall that is my review. I dont think I really needed to upgrade my gnex. It was performing nearly as well as this new phone. I think it has another 1-2 years of life easily. If you do have the money though, it is worth the upgrade but its definitely not necessary.
Here is my blog post: http://raypastore.com/wordpress/2013/12/galaxy-nexus-vs-moto-x/
I'm with you, I love my Galaxy Nexus. My brother has a Droid Ultra he picked up after destroying his phone, and I gotta say my Nexus is better. People on this forum complain about being stuck with a Galaxy Nexus, I don't get it, this is the best phone I've ever played with.

yea i think overall that if you are on verizon and do not want to lose unlimited that its just not worth upgrading. the gnex is such a good phone. i am moving on to my moto x but it definitely is not a significant upgrade thats for sure.

I think Moto G isn't any better in performance. Plus, it doesn't have much development as of now (not even a CM build). But to be honest I'm also tempted... though I have something else on my mind.

It might not have any Dev support but its already getting 4.4.2 kitkat from Motorola and runs pretty much stock Android ..far as performance I've yet to see a VS video but I'm sure the Moto is faster.

I had the S3 and I had a worse experience on it than I currently do on my recently acquired VZW Nexus. There is no lag or bloatware. The only down side is battery life. I will be buying another battery. Either stock or extended. I am near a charger all day so it's not a big deal for me. I'm not tempted to flash a different ROM either because it is already an aosp phone.

I seriously thought about it. I still am. I'm so used to the 4.7" display such that I fear going back to 4.5" would be too much.
Galaxy nexus was my first smartphone and it made these almost 2 years since I own it very special. A real adventure. Have bricked it, have drppoed it but it never let me down in the end.
Had a great experience with my GNex but the battery life was a real deal breaker for me. Went with the G2 and am loving the larger screen not to mention outstanding battery. Thought I would hate the UI but so far I'm ok with it and I know I can ROM it when I get bored with it. Haven't parted with the GNex yet but I'm not really seeing a need to keep it now.

i really dont need more than my GNex, and have it with android kit-kat before some top devices is amazing..
I went from a Gnex to Droid RAZR m, only because the screen cracked on my Gnex, needless to say I miss my Gnex badly!!!

Sticking with GNex til it dies plus I love my charging dock...
I have a spare battery so either way I'll never have to worry about running out of power.

Yup I feel the same way. I've been on cm 10.1.3 since september and I've experienced very minimal lag. All the 4.3/4.4 roms are just too unstable. Just the battery life sucks. Even on the 2100maH battery, the best screen on time I could get is 3 hours.I just keep the stock battery in handy for when I run out of battery.

Getting a moto g would be like buying a phone with 3 year old specs with no development, complete waste of time.At least the gnex has plenty of development but is still obsolete an crappy in the current smartphone world.Even the iPhone 4s which is 2 an a half years old beats the gnex hands down.
I love my GNex.. And with CM11 it rocks.. I will probably wait to it dies..

Moto G doesnt have a 3 year old specs...
Its still quite a new phone hence lack of major development.
Furthermore we can use gravity box for many things.
For me CM11 couldnt save my GNEX it was slugglish

Hmm. If you could lag a CM11-wielding GNex, then a MotoG wouldn't surprise you either. It's a Snapdragon 400 after all. Me, I feel my GNex is always as smooth even when compared to my 2 more powerful devices.

[Q] can't decided to get g4 or nexus 6 (verizon). help me decide :)

Hey all. I'm on verizon. currently own a iphone 6 plus. the phone is ok but i HATE HATE HATE how it only has 1 gb of ram and that when i multitask, it has to reopen and or refresh apps all the time. i cant have more than 2 tabs in safari without one of them having to refresh. same with apps that i just opened. i hate it.
late last year, i did own a nexus 5 before the iphone 6 plus. i was on straight talk with but ATT where i live is HORRIBLE so just went back on my families family plan. being that the nexus 5 does not work on verizon i sold it and got the iphone 6 plus. i would have went with the nexus 6 but was not out until a month after the 6.
anyway, i can't decided if i should go nexus 6 or LG G4. my bud has a nexus 6 and he let me mess without for a while yesterday and i really like it. just like the nexus 5. love stock android. love having bootloader unlocked and root and having system images to the latest version of android. he was running liquid smooth rom (5.1.1) and it was really fast and nice. the only thing i dont really like about it is that the phone is a little wider than my iphone 6 plus and that phone is already wide to begin with. i know these phones are not really meant for one hand use but i want to at least be able to reply to a text message with one hand. so not sure about that part. also worried about the battery life with it. dont like that i can't get 64 gig version on verizon. also no micro sd slot and being that im a tech nerd. i HATE buying older tech products. nexus has been out for about 6 months or more know, it does have a 805 chip while the G4 has the 6 core 808 chip and much better camera. but going with the G4, i get a plastic phone, probably wont see its bootloader ever unlocked. and i hate skinned android. How long did it take for the verizon LG G3 to get root? as long as i have root so i can uninstall bloat apps ill be fine. plus i like how the G4 is closer to the same size as the 6 plus i have rather than the huge 6" size the nexus 6 is.
TLR
have a 6 plus. hate that it has 1gb ram and has to reload every app when multitasking. cant decided if i should go with the 6 month old nexus 6, or get the LG G4. i want root, good battery life, fast performance, good camera,

how do you like it? hows the battery life? the feel of the phone? is it old samsung plastic feel or is it a decent thick plastic feel? (know that sounds weird but some plastic phones feel like cheap while others feel fine) how is the multitasking? does it have the memory leak issue like the S6 has? example in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUw9PUlFUF0&feature=youtu.be
i wish it had 5.1.1, which fixed all the memory leaks

I got my G4 last Thursday, and I love it. I like the same things most people are liking...but if youre trying to decide Ill tell you this: once you experience knock-on/knock-off you wont want another phone without it Mine is leather backed, and its comfortable.
The leather version G4 is going to be one of the nicest looking phone you ever had. (ironically the plastic version looks the poorest/most normal among all the flagship smartphones out there imo)
But not too sure about the durability of the leather though.

the black leather version looks nice but im not really a fan of the itching down the middle tomorrow im going to call my local verizon store and see if they have any working display units before the street date so i can play with it and see how it is. hopefully they have one on display before this Thursdays release. i have tomorrow.
I get mine Tuesday, I loved my g3 then switched to the nexus 6 when I got my upgrade, wasn't a fan of the s6 edge. The nexus 6 is a very solid phone, I have mine rooted with aosip rom from droyd running zen kernel. Battery has been amazing using this combination, speed is silky smooth, and volume is loud! I love a loud speaker that's why I'm going to try the g4. The g3 with sound hack has been one of the loudest phones I've had. I can speak up on the g4 Tuesday but since there's no root yet I can only give details on the stock experience. You have 14 days to return the phone so I say try both and see what suits you. I was lucky enough to have my wife's upgrade as soon as the g4 was released so I have both. :good:

i really like the nexus 6. from the time playing with my buds, im pretty sure ill get that. I just dont like buying tech things (computer parts or phones) that have been on the market to long. i know the next nexus is rumored to not come out till this coming October, but being how the G4 has the 808 chip and a better camera. the thing that's making me indecisive is the G4 having a skin over android as well as the risk of not having root and or custom recoveries.
how long did it take for the G3 to have root?
To also sum this up, it also depends on what your needs are. If you want primarily a gaming and heavy-CPU use phone, as well as lots of development (now) the N6 might be better off. If you like lots of gadgets and a great camera, the G4 is for you.
I had the Nexus 6 abs and I decided to go with the G4 and I'm loving it!
I have had my note 4 since it came out, my G4 is sitting here almost ready to go back, I had the G2 and G3, all notes so far. I really wanted to like the G4 better than the note.
I got the S6 edge, but returned it (not as good as the note 4).
G4 vs Note 4 = note 4 is rooted and I am running Dynamic Pop, or CM12.1 depending.
Performance and benchmarks
The note 4 Antutu is 50,000 to 52,000 the G4 is 48,000 to 50,000, G4 gets hung up easy on some tasks, both are about as fluid on easy stuff.
Screen, the Note 4 is at leaast twice as bright, much easier to read indoor and out doors and have MUCH better viewing angles, like a printed page vs a lcd screen. The G4 just looks dull, and you have to wait for the back light to turn up so you can see anything, not a biggie, but its a flagship phone?
Download speed, again for some reason the note 4 seems to do much better, same area same time seems to be getting in the 30 or 40 Mg down, and the G4 stays around 14 or 20.
Leather, the G4 is way better than the note 4 fake leather.
Size for almost the same size the note 4 has much more usable screen.
Battery, note 4 at least a few more hours...
I guess I have to send it back, why get a newer, slower, dimmer, slower downloading phone?

This is for Verizon. You wouldn't be running a CM ROM on Verizon since the BL is locked.

G4 as slow as my G3

Ok. Guys please don't take offense to this. I LOVE lg and commend them for keeping removable battery and expandable memory. Kudos to them.
I recently swappa'd from the g3 to the g4. At first the difference was great. Huge difference in camera shutter speed. But now my camera freezes half the time in manual mode. Also I have tried with greenify and amplify and without and the phone lags like crazy and gps is always running when it shouldn't be. Even with google.com now disabled it still polls gps.
Granted it has no impact on my battery drain and I'm glad that the g4 has a faster gps lock than the g3. I am probably just being picky here... And truthfully I can't complain. I sold my g3 with box, vr kit, spare battery kit, 3 cases including rare slim guard cch320g, sold for $160 in 45 mins. Lol I wanted to give someone a deal because I had a highly motivated seller that sold this g4 with $90 mugen battery, stock spare battery, 2 cases (a $30 uag), and original box for $230.
All in all yes I would buy this over again and for under $100 difference I have no right to complain....but why do I feel no significant difference? I had my g3 since launch and my previous phone was a droid maxx.
Sorry but going from a blackberry tour to a droid 2 was so awesome. As well as droid 2 to galaxy nexus thanks to SwiftKey. Galaxy nexus to razr maxx hd was amazing. Razr Maxx hd to droid maxx was equally awesome thanks to bootloader unlock.
Droid maxx to lg g3.....I dunno. I felt jipped. Motorola had better radios for sure. But I began to enjoy lg and it's camera.
I played with a v10 yesterday for an hour. I am shocked at the difference in speed because the only difference is more ram really. The speed difference could be in my head? Idk this g4 lags when switching between apps, typing on Google search, etc. I have tried different keyboards and it changes nothing. Even adapting the searching of apps history etc. So slow!
I am not a person that spends more time on the phone. I use a Windows 8 laptop significantly more than a phone. I don't play games of any kind.
Help!
I switched from nexus 4 to lg g3. I was never happy. G3 to me was slow and laggy. I upgraded to G4 and will say that was the true upgrade. It is fast and snappy. I have to admit lg g3 after lollipop update seemed fast. I still own all phones but G4 is the best, would never use G3 back again. From the development point of view Nexus 4 was and still is the best. Hopefully an update to mm will solve problem for you.

We'll see. If not I dunno what I'll do. Even a note 4 dev edition isn't going to be much different.
I guess I'd get a 6p and a battery case when it comes out by zero lemon.
Wish we'd get some roms....
