I'm new to this phone (coming from a Droid RAZR HD that had an unlocked bootloader via an exploit). I've been flashing custom ROMs since my LG Vortex days (then Droid X2, then RAZR MAXX and then the RAZR HD).
I just picked this phone up at Verizon and it wanted to download an update. I refused as I don't know what it might do to my ability to root and bump. Already know what it could do to block people from doing customization to their phones.
Currently, the phone is at the following version:
KVT49L.VS98510B
The update it tried to push was:
LG_VS985_10B_TO_11C.
Is this still rootable/bumpable or would I have to downgrade? What is the latest OTA for this phone that can still be rooted without having to flash a bumped stock ROM? I've searched through the forums and it appears from what I can tell, the 10B is the latest version that can be rooted. Anything later requires downgrading back to 10B.
Also, have they released an OTA yet that prevents downgrading to a previous version yet? I want to make sure I don't take an OTA that I shouldn't.
Thanks!

A few months ago when I got the update notification I chose not to update at the time and got rid of the update file. I have decided to update my android version (still stuck on 2.3.6) but how do I go about doing so? Also, can i leave my phone rooted and running the current rom+mod when I update my android version? If not - what do I do so that i can update without ruining my phone? Also would I be able to flash roms made for different android versions than the one I have?
Thanks for the help guys.
Hi, this is a question that has not been asked so far (searched and read many links) --
I have MB855 Photon 4G from Sprint, and want to leave them, but use it as GSM on a different network (T-Mobile or ATT).
So far I know:
1) I need to have the bootloader unlocked to flash a new radio (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664212)
2) have to actually do it...
But, the problem is that I unknowingly updated to xxxx 245_13 (latest as of today) OTA (over the air) update from Sprint sometime in July or August.. and now I can no longer unlock the bootloader, or can I?
What if I just used RSD update to flash the stock SBF to xxxx_198_7 (sunfire Sprint rom)?
Would that bring me back to "2.3.4" build? Has someone done it?
(I see no relevant answers that are more recent than July/August)
Please, help me understand why that would not work?
My phone is rooted and has the bootstrap recovery, can I flash something through it instead?
Hi everyone!
I recently unlocked my bootloader and rooted my m8.
I tried using firewater to "s-off" my phone and unfortunately, it did not work out. The way I understand it, I cannot install stock ROMs (such as the 5.0.1 GPE) without "s-off." Now, I want to unroot my phone and stick to waiting for the OTAs to roll out instead.
I followed the instructions in the "returning to stock" thread and noticed that I have no version main (see attached image). I looked around the forums and saw that the advice was to flash the latest TWRP version. Since I'm stuck with a phone that I cannot update, I'm trying to be careful now. Can anyone please confirm if flashing the latest TWRP will bring my version main back?
The noob in me also has a few questions/requests as well:
1. Since my phone is rooted, I cannot receive OTA updates and upgrade to lollipop once these updates roll out?
2. Please tell me which files to download to return to stock. Just trying to be really careful this time around.
3. Lastly, is it also true that I can only install custom ROMs once have rooted? As to stock ROMs, I can't install them until I get "s-off"?
Thanks a lot, everyone! Cheers!

Your firmware version: 3.32.708.4
I got it from your radio (baseband) number.

Do I have to flash the latest TWRP version before proceeding?
I currently have a Verizon G4 with Root. Verizon just release a new version of software (I'm currently on 11A). Can I do the over the air update without loosing root? Thanks!!
Think I found my answer. I need to flash stock firmware, take the the update then re-root.
Hello I'm currently running 4.4.2 with root and I've been thinking about upgrading to marshmallow. I just wanted to know whats the best way going about it. I'm assuming that I'm going to have to re-enable the software updating app that I disabled for I didn't get OEM updates then upgrade to marshmallow and re-root using one of the guides or would a root keeping app or Survival mode on superSU possibly work? I also believe I have TWRP installed from when I rooted my phone before, I'm not sure if that's important info. Also side note, would their be a way to keep the 4.4.2 touch buttons on the bottom of the screen? They make more sense to me then the new ones. Device info below
AT&T
android 4.4.2
software version D85010d
Model number LG-D850
You can't root on marshmallow so if you want root DO NOT update with that app. the easiest way is to just flash a rom. i have the verizon version (vs985) and all i have to do to flash a custom stock rom, is to flash the right modem before flashing the rom, then flashing modem again after the rom and bam, i just flashed a marshmallow rom from kitkat 4.4.2. you can also downgrade that way just flashing the appropriate modem before and after and bam.! but i dont know about your version, you should definitely check the att&t G3 subforum. you need to be careful and read thoroughly so you don't brick. the thing with vs985 is that there are modems out there that can hardbrick the device, however, it may not be the same for others but, just in case you should read.
Thank you I'll look into that. So far I found this https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/development/rom-stock-bumped-marshmallow-v30a-t3661194 but I still got more research to do since I'm unfamiliar with flashing modems and whatever "bumped" is exactly. Hopefully this weekend I'll have more time to look into this.
