Need HELP Microphone/Dialer - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I have tried installing multiple different custom rom's and I have also had the stock JB rom.
I don't know why, I really don't, but Custom rom's that are 4.3 or above mess around with my t989.
The calling never works, so say I just turned on my phone, it's just booted, I can make a few calls and everything is fine, the minute I hang up, and wana call another person within the next 3-5 Minutes, it's gone. It doesn't work anymore.
I don't get why the calling does not work on any KITKAT ROM.
It doesn't work on CM 10.1.3, 10.2, 11, Liquid smooth and now hellkat... it's a shame.
After a while, when you try to make a call or when you receive one, You can't hear the other side and the other side cannot hear you either.
I have had this problem with custom roms, specially 4.3 and above. Hellkat seems to be worse than CM11 calling wise, even though as I see, they have the same dialer and hellkat uses most of CM builds but still.. this sucks. I feel like it's either a software/rom problem or something disabled maybe, i'm not sure. I know, I have great connection (T-mobile) Data working, full signal and everything seems to be fine. However, I don't know what to do to even try to solve/fix it. I hope someone here know's though or someone here can help.
FYI; This doesn't happen on the stock rom (JB 4.1.2) At all. It never happens on stock, just on custom rom's and the only custom rom it doesn't do this on and works fine is ( CM 9.1)
Any solutions anyone knows of?
Thank you.

Replied to you in the other thread. Unless you've played around with different radios, I'm near 90% sure it's snapchat. I don't know why it borks the roms, someone smarter than I will have to answer that. All I do know is that several people with the exact same symptoms uninstalled snapchat and everything went back to normal.

Galaxy S III fails to sent long SMS

Well, this is an odd issue and i'm sure many other have it because all of my friends with GS3's have this problem. I have a rogers GS3, my friend has a Telus and other videotron and multiple times a week, when we try to send a moderate or long sms (3 lines and more) the phones fails to send the message. This is very odd because i've tried everything from a factory reset, full odin wipe, different roms, and nothing works. I'm on CM10 M2 now and the problem is also there.
When i try to send a long sms, it fails, then i sent a short one right after, it works, then i copy and resetn the original one that failed and it faisl again. I pretty sure many of you have it because we have 3 different GS3 on 3 different networks and it happens to all of us
I tried looking around, i have not found much, maybe somebody has such problem and perhaps a solution?
This happened to me earlier this morning. No idea what can even cause an issue like this.
nobody??? im sure many people have this
I think this is based on all aosp roms.
I don't know if it's fact or opinion, but I always get the "sent" message after receiving the "not sent" error.
In other words, it seems like it still sends the whole text, but just throws you an error initially.
Can someone correct me if I'm wrong?
Well i can correct you wrong because i've tested it it does not sent the messages nor does it have anything to so with AOSP roms because i've used both AOPK and they both have the issue,
I send long sms no problem.. some in fact so. Long it automatically breaks them into two. What firmware are you on.

First off this belongs in Q&A so I will move it
Second AOKP is also considered an AOSP type ROM
There should be an option in your mms app to split messages over 160 characters. Make sure it is checked.
On the Touchwiz ROMs that came with the SIII and all TW custom ROMs this is not an issue. This is a Touchwiz phone so changing your ROM to anything but that will have some bugs and require fixes and workarounds.

Do other apps work? I use ChompSMS (fixes lots of annoying bugs in the TW SMS app) and I can send long messages fine.

i have to disagree. I had like i said in OP, i tried ALL roms, stock, stock rooted, cyanogen and many other, this was an issue in all roms.

are you using a mms app other than what's provided with the rom? And are you able to send any messages at all? or does it fail to send only on long ones?
If you were on stock and still can't send any/long messages, check your apn settings and make sure it's correct for your provider, especially if you are installing roms (stock or custom) that are specifically developed for AT&T phones. From your profile I'm assuming you have a Canadian version.
Check the APN settings. If that's all correct, return the phone for a new one
all apn settings are fine and this is not an issue with the phone because like i said, it would be one hell of a coincidence if this happened to both of my friends with gs3s on different providers. Also i am using stock sms app and this only happens with moderately long sms, it doesnt always ahppen, its random
If it's intermittent, and it's not just you but also your friends, it sounds like a provider problem. From what I have been reading on different forums, it seems service in Canada has been sketchy because they're adding LTE towers everywhere.
I don't know if that's really the case, but all I can say is texting works well for me down here on the AT&T network, both on AOSP (which also includes AOKP as you were mistaken earlier) and stock-based ROMs, although I do get the error on AOSP based roms for long messages. I've asked my friends and they say they receive the whole message just fine.
Last thing I can think of is if you flashed a custom kernel and it messed with some of your drivers. I know KToons kernel has modified drivers, and you're supposed to flash the stock kernel provided in that thread if you're going back to stock. Try that and see if that fixes your problem.
yup, i've flashed ktoon kenel as i had major issues with faux kernel as per this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1937476
i'll report back in a week to see if any different
thanks for you help

I had this happen with my rom. It was so strange. In my case it would let me dial three numbers then I could dial no more. Couldn't recieve or make a call.. I did however fix the situation with flashing the rom again. Haven't had any trouble since. In your case somehow your radio might have gotten changed. You might look into what the radio was before the rom and possibly download that radio again. Or you can try basic ics radios and see if any work for you. You have nothing to loose by trying. You can get the radios here on xda. On my last device a similar thing happened to me and I had to flash a new radio. It did restore my abilities. Its worth a try. It could be what's going on with your device. It certainly wont hurt to try. I wish you the best and do hope this helps you.
Happens to me occasionally, reboot fixes it.

I had something similar happen to me with a AOSP rom. On Thursday I started having trouble with dropped calls and then yesterday it got worse and I was unable to make or receive calls at all. Right after dialing the phone would beep and the call would end. Data and SMS was fine.
After multiple reboots and a good amount of time it started working again. I'm not convinced I did anything to fix it. After reading about your problems I wonder if the cause was on the tmobile side.

No sound when making, or receiving calls, same for those being called...

Hello fellow galaxy users, I have this problem on my T-mobile Samsung galaxy s4 and it is when I make a call, I cant hear anybody on the like or the dial tone or anything, and when the other picks up my call they can't hear anything either. Also if I pick up a call I still cannot hear anything. It is just plain silence. NOW HERE IS THE WEIRD PART! If I turn on wifi calling, I can call and receive calls with out any problems, if I use skype I can hear from the speaker and everything. So my mic is working, my speakers are working, everything seems to be functioning... Till I make a call using data... My guess is its a T-mobile network issue? I called T-mobile and they didn't know what was wrong... I looked around google and many people are having the same problem with no solution... If anyone has any ideas or any solution and would like more info on this problem, please let me know!
Have a nice day !
im having the same exact problem! i have seen some fixes that people have posted with similar issue, leading them to believe its something with their bluetooth/ok google/s voice being involved. ive tried some of the fixes that have been posted, but no luck on fixing the issue on my end. but just like you if i go on wifi and make a call i have no issues what so ever! the sound also works just fine if i connect to a bluetooth device.
Are both of you on the full NH7 firmware?
Mismatched bootloader?
Pp.
fully stock rom, not rooted. OS 4.4.4, yes nh7
i will add that this is my first galaxy, that i haven't rooted or changed the rom on. i have yet to have a reason to root or change the rom on this phone, but if i have to, to get this fixed? i have no problem rooting and changing the rom.
also i have noticed that i drop LTE to 4g when ever i try to make a call. the wife has the same phone and is on tmobile as well but she has not had this issue.
Ok, since you are stone stock this could be a update issue, just out curiosity I would try a factory reset (hard reset ) it may solve the issue . If not I would go with stock rooted like ShinySide's rom not full custom until issue is solved.
Pp.
ive done a hard reset and the problem is still there. i guess ill go the ShinySide's rom way, until i get my s5 or wait for the rumored s6.
This by ShinySide will give you an option to flash a stock firmware if you choose to be stock again. Follow instructions using Odin.

[HELP NEEDED] Blocked calls on AOSP?

First off, before getting into anything, let me just say that yes, I do fully realize that I am posting this in the wrong section. The reason why I'm posting this thread here is to fully ensure that this issue gets the most attention as possible, as I've already posted for help if the Q&A section of the G2 forums and various other help threads, to no avail. This is kind of my last resort here.
Whenever I'm on an AOSP ROM, using either basebands ZV8 (From my understanding, some LS980 ROMs only work with JB/ZV8 modem) or ZVD (The modem zip is named KK_BASEBAND.zip by Cloudy, so I'm ASSUMING that's either ZVD or ZVC), data, outbound calls, texts, everything works, EXCEPT for incoming calls. Just goes straight to voicemail. And this is only with AOSP ROMs. Stock ROMs perform with no problem. I've been trying to get to the bottom of this issue, but I just can't seem to get a finger on it. So I'm currently in stock until I can get some insight on this. Has anybody had any experience with this, or know what's going on? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. And, for what its worth, I rooted using towelroot+AutoRec.
zv8 baseband works for me on incoming calls, (texting wise i have to use a 3rd party app) *currently running cm 12 at the moment*

ZV8 works for me for a little while, too, and then it seems like a day later or so, all incoming calls go straight to voicemail. I usually call myself at least once or twice a day just to make sure everything still works, and calls get blocked sooner or later. Is there a dialer code I could use to upgrade PRL on AOSP? Going back to stock > upgrading PRL seems to do nothing, so I'm wondering if it'd be better to do it on AOSP, rather than going back to stock.
no way to update profile or prl on aosp unfortunately

I was having this issue on stock and aosp turns out sprint was working on towers here upgrading them... And it only affected incoming calls... Might want to call sprint and see...had something to do with spark bands in our phone...next time you try aosp put it on CDMA and see what happens... That was my experience

I may, or may not have finally found a solution for this. I was on Super G2 ROM with ZVC modem, PRL/Profile updated and everything, and instead of downgrading modem to flash certain AOSP ROMs, I flashed last Mahdi build (which is on KK modem) and just left the radio alone. So far, everything seems to be okay. So far. I've been getting calls and calling myself randomly from Google Dialer to make sure everything is good, and all remains well for the moment. We'll see how this turns out.
Im having this same problem, on Sprint using a G3 on AOSP rom.. its kind of annoying, especially since all my calls go straight to vmail.. is there a fix?
You can also try the ZV7 modem

Data Issue in Custom ROMs

Hi all,
I tried almost all pie and 10 ROMs for 5Z and they all work great.
However, in all my flashing endeavors, I had data issues in some ROMs; like the data won't work at all, even after setting up the correct APN (RIL works perfectly fine).
Interestingly this bug (don't know what to call it) is random, if i flash the same ROM again and if I am lucky the data works just fine; it's a total hit and miss and it is just plain annoying. Although, there is absolutely no data problem on stock (any vendor) but this happens if I try and flash any ROM.
Any advise? what can i do to sort this out?
I had similar problem, but the problem was Roaming. Out of the country i was not able to use 3G/4G. I tried all customs roms, but it was still the same issue. So i went back to stock and it works without any problems.
Same here. All roms worked pretty well (e.gL ineage, Havoc) except for Android Auto and roaming. Data worked, except when roaming. Was never able to get a connection. Back to stock all worked. Could not find a solution.

Precisely the problem.
Is there anyway you got it to work or figured out to make it work?
I honestly hate the stock ROM and would love to use an Android 10 ROM.

Try UL-Z01R-WW-100.04.44.67-user.zip, I am using it as a daily driver now, work pretty well. No real issues found....
Battery slightly worse compared to .88
