For the historic, what I did on this phone :
1. I rooted it with odin CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5
2. Everything was fine during 1 year, then i had issue (phone crashing, settings reseting to default), so i decided to update the rom with the official one N7100XXUFND3_N7100OXAFND3_N7100XXUFND3_HOME.tar.md5
3. Since yesterday night the phone is stuck on home
4. I try to reflash with odin with the offical rom and i get this error

I still have a backup of the EFS, i read that i should restore the EFS but I can't do it with ADB because when i type root shell in adb it says : "error : device not found" (I am in download mode though)
Thank you for your help

maybe you can try to flash a third-party recovery like CWM with odin and watch if it flashed successfully and if you can enter recovery. the recovery file is a normal tar.md5 which can be flashed like stock firmware.Drivers works well under windows 8 8.1even the newest windows10 tp

You can search for it in the N7100 Android Development Forum ,there are many excellent recovery like CWM ,Philz and TWRP.Most of them work well on international N7100

Do these at your own risk.
search for PIT file made by dr ketan and flash it together with the stock n7100 firmware in odin. that will solve tour problem.
somebody posted pit file here.. be sure that your n7100 is 16gb
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1927983
extract it and use that together with the stock firmware in odin. select pit for pit files and pda for stock firmware
after finish flashing it will be stuck again in samsung logo. boot again to recovery mode and wipe data/reset to factory mode and then reboot

I tried to use Odin to install the N7105 South Africa rom.
It was stuck for 10 minutes so I unplugged and reboot. Now the phone is stuck in a screen that reads
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I plugged in the phone to Kies and Kies won't pick up the device on USB.

Are you still able to access your recovery? And what about your bootloader? You could always tweak with your device from the recovery or from the bootloader on the fastboot usb. Make sire you've got your device drivers if your gonna fastboot usb it!

Just the bootload screen to download roms. HOw do I tweak it from the recovery menu?
get a stock odin image and flash it again
it will probably get stuck... in which case, boot to recovery (it will be the stock one) by holding volume up + home + power until you see the recovery
wipe data
reboot.
good to go.
Thx. got it.

Is it giving you a FAIL after flashing , or doesn`t show up after a successful flash.
If it doesn`t show up after flashing , re-flash but untick "Auto-Reboot" within odin before flashing & restart manually after flashing.

Hi,
When flashing with oder it depends on the package which oder will work.
At my p 605 the 1.86 version was working without probs.
The best is to use the Oden which is coming together the Roms Zipfile.
I hope this info helps please let me know.

I tried all the possible combination... different Odin... different cables and ports... it just didn't work.
Since I read from a old post that flashing a original rom thru Odin helps... and i tried... Odin works and the rom can be flashed without prompting the signature verification failed error.
I suspect if Samsung has done something to make the recovery image fails...
I tried flashing the recovery using the stock recovery too and it failed as well

Now I am confused are you talking about recovery or rom ?
The only recovery I could get to work was the TWRP - this Zip file comes with a Odin that works.
Cwm philz are not working.
But keep in mind as soon you installed twrp your knox counter is tripped.
For rom flashing you have to wipe your tablet and then follow these instructions xxxx://www.droidgator.com/update-galaxy-note-101-sm-p605-android-43-xxubmj9-firmware/.
Before starting backup your tab then everything should be fine.
Thanks for your effort in helping me out...
Before I sent my tablet for servicing... I restored the tablet with Kies to the original factory setting and rom as I HAD rooted my P605 and flashed a custom rom before. [Although the Know count is 0*1 anyway.... but the service centre was kind enough to fix my tablet as it's a hardware failure instead of anything to do with the ROM ]
When I got my tablet back and tried to flash the TWRP into it, this problem surfaced. And I read from another post that some say flashing a Samsung original rom could help I tried but to no avail. Still I am waiting and looking for a solution.
I tried Odin 3.04 3.07 and 1.85 with the two versions of TWRP but still none of them work.

Might you recall what the firmware version was before you started to flash this one?
I am also trying to recover from NC3 back to MJ4XAC and it is not allowing me to finish, Kies also does not recover the tablet. It looks like one of the filesystems is in a different state. With TWRP there are options to perform CHMOD on the file systems but I figure I have been mocking around long enough and for some reason beyond my experience the system is not responding.
Can you still get into ADB mode? That might be an option to see if you can gain access?

Although it failed, I was able to recover using kies and use tablet as normal without data loss. It might be because at that point I had not rooted my tab and system state was still original in odin.
By the way I was on MJ4 xsa(AUSTRALIA) trying to install NC2 TGY(HONG KONG).
Now I have rooted it and have I installed NC2. I am still not sure what the issue was. But the only thing I did different was, first was using a virtual machine, but now did in an actual windows machine.
Can you please try this? If you can, install back NC2 using odin. Boot it once, then try recovering using kies. Kies recover mode gets your latest firmware based on your serial number. Not what firmware you are running.
Please post back the result. Interested to know the outcome.

I don't think it is. Although the specs are the same, read somewhere that the internal partition structure for carrier branded firmware are different to generic. Don't remember where I read that. But can't confirm that either.

I am lost reading a lot of articles about how to solve my issue, but before solving it I need to know what is it ?
I have N7100 which:
In normal mode: hangs on Samsung logo while starting up and it never go further than that,
In Recovery mode: restarts when I see the TWRP logo.
In download mode: works fine
I read lots of article and I tried to flash the stock ROM from SamFirmware with now luck "although it is successful". Check my log:

Another useful information to mention is that in the download mode here are what is written:
Code:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-N7100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (4 Counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
I tried flashing different firmwares and different recoveries with no luck, by mistake I flashed TWRP N7100 AT&T version "openrecovery-twrp-2.7.2.2-t0lteatt.img", after that I am now able to get in recovery mode but
it asks for a password
it displayed a title Team Win Recovery Project v2.6.3.1 "although it is not the AT&T version"
I cancelled the password and opened the log and I was chocked with what I saw:
Code:
E: unable to find partition size for '/boot'
E: unable to find partition size for '/recovery'
E: unable to find partition size for '/modem'
E: unable to find partition size for '/data'
Updating partition details...
E: unable to mount '/efs'
E: unable to mount '/cache'
E: unable to mount '/system'

E: unable to mount '/cache'
The question is what is my phone problem, how to trouble shot it and solve it ??? :crying::crying::crying::crying:

Another useful information to mention is that in the download mode here are what is written:
Code:

E: unable to mount '/cache'
The question is what is my phone problem, how to trouble shot it and solve it ??? :crying::crying::crying::crying:

You could try Samsungs kies emergency recovery as describes here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261153
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/faq/FAQ00059169/81100
Mabye it will fix it, but it is a long shot.
Edit:
Small addition emergency recovery requires kies 3, if emergency recovery doesn't work you can try the firmware upgrade and initialisation option from kies (which also flashes everything trough download mode)

Couldn't get it done stuck at "the device's version cannot be updated" because I am on a custom recovery.

Ok other idea did you try repartitioning with Odin?
5th post has the PIT file needed for repartitioning http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927983
The main thing emergency recovery does is: repartitioning and flashing all partitions anyway.
PS.
Also weird i can use emergency recovery with CWM installed

Just a check:
You did:
1: start Odin
2 select repartition
3: select pit file
4: click pda select some archive from sammmobile right?
Otherwise it won't work cause:
Repartition creates the empty partitions (System, data, recovery, etc ) specified in the PIT file
The archive under the PDA option fills those partitions with the needed files
If you did just the repartition it won,t boot cause the partitions are empty.
Hello guys,
I have a semi-bricked GT-N7100 ( international ) note 2. its not booting and it stucks on samsung logo. i can access to download and recovery mode. the device wasnt rooted and it always used in stock rom. i didn't even access to recovery and download mode before this brick. i dont know why this happened cos i wasnt the one using it.
In recovery mode , i encounter with these errors;
failed to mount /efs ( no such file or directory)
failed to mount /system ( no such file or directory)
failed to mount /cache ( no such file and directory)
when i do wipe and cache it says its completed but it gives more error while doing it.
in download mode i can see the product name. so i think that mainboard is ok.
PRODUCT NAME : GT-N7100
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Offical
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
KNOX WARRANT VOID: 0
AP SWREV: A2
So, i have downloaded odin 1.85 and some other versions and tried to flash with stock rom. but it always fails.

ive also tried to root with cwm and it gives same nand error. i tried to use kies to fix it by writing serial number but it doesnt recognize the device. ive read a lot of topics in various forums but couldn't find a solution. if you can help me it will be much appreciated, thank you in advance.
Bro what i suggest is flash the stock rom with the pit file n check the options repartition and nand erase all in odin. If it flashes successfully do a facrory reset. Make sure you have the correct pit file. If you have n7100 16 gb i can give 1 for you.
im not sure if device is 16gb but ive used the pit file that ive found in this forum for 16gb. i dont have any information about its gigabyte but its higher chance that its 16gb.
it gave this error when i try to flash with stock rom and pit ,

it stucks on connecting when i use kies. ive uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and kies many times, tried flashing with many other stock roms but still its not working. i dont think that there is a hardware failure, cos' pc can recognize that its a samsung device. but not on kies. also i can see product name in download mode. cant flash pit either. i dont know what to do else. if i go to a samsung service they will probably change emmc chip and it will fix this problem. but still, i think that its just a software problem.
Bro use the recovery option of Kies. Search for recovery using kies in xda or google.

Sorry bro that was the most I could have done.
Do this and try ok. Dnt knw f it will work r nt. Install philz recovery. Boot to recovery and do a "clean to install new rom wipe". After that check in kies with the stock firmware. Also before this remove kies and everythi g releated to samsung n reinstall kies3.
If it fails. Go to the service center.

Stuck on Samsung boot screen (not the Samsung animated boot logo).
Try to plug-in the wall charger while the phone is off, an empty battery icon stuck (no animation) even remove the charging.
I'm haven't try to recover it. I'm still looking for a resolved solution.
Running on rooted with DN4 V2 ROM LTE, TWRP LTE and Agni.
Can boot to recovery & download mode.
TWRP: shows 0mb internal and external. can't mount anything. can't wipe anything.

I don´t want to create false expectations, but mine restarted last week and got stuck on the Samsung animated logo, that was not animated in this case. My N7100 was starting to show problems on the SDCard reader, like sdcard remove and so on.
I believe the problem with the reader got worst and made the phone crazy.
After removing de card I tried old bootloaders like CWM and ot was getting worst each time I tried
First cache could be formated but data wasn´t, the neither /cache, then panic
So tried all bootloaders and format /system. Using Odin and the latest TWRP made the deal, suddenly everything normal but the sd card reader dead.
Already replaced the reader and teh Note 2 is working fine again with DN4.

Hi,
I woke up this morning and found my phone stuck on the startup logo.
I tried removing the battery and wipe the cache but it won't go past the start up logo.
I don't care about the phone, I wanted to change it anyway but I would like to retrieve some data before. So I haven't try the factory reset yet. Is there a way to save some data ? (my contacts and some data from note everything and task list mainly).
I afraid to try something and wipe all my data.....
Note : when I go to recovery, It says "failed to mount /efs (no such file or directory)... failed to mount /system ......"
Flash TWRP using Odin. Then boot into TWRP, mount the data partition, connect the phone to a computer, and copy off the data files. Hopefully, this method works for the phone.
You mean I have to install TWRP (? Team win recovery project) on my phone using Odin ? Is that correct and then start the phone with TWRP ?
Does my phone need to be rooted for that ? (it's not).
I haven't use odin or TWRP yet but I will try and tell you if that works.
Any advice for how to use Odin and TWRP for a beginner ?
Thanks
So after making a few more research to understand how to use odin et twrp, I tried to flash twrp using odin but it failed. Here is my log :

so what do I do now ?
Use the tar version of TWRP, not the IMG version.
I used this file : twrp-3.0.2-0-t03g.img.tar so it should be right
So I finally tried to wipe the data from recovery mode and it didn't work.
Tried to reload the firmware using odin (N7100XXUFOC2_N7100OXAFOC2_N7100XXUFNG1_HOME.tar.md5) and got this :

Is there something else I can do or is this a hardware problem ?
The sboot.bin file is the bootloader for the phone and could be failing due to the following reasons:
the ROM is not for the phone;
need to use a different USB cable and/or different USB 2.0 ports;
the bootloader in the phone is newer than the bootloader in the ROM;
the ROM needs to be flashed with a pit file;
the memory chip is damaged.
