Maybe I do not understand cleary this feature but.. it seems it's not working for me.
I enable the blocking mode making sure the "notifications are off"... but then I keep getting notifications from: whatsapp, hangouts, telegram ans so on. Even emails.... I'm not talking about the sound but about the notification itself.
Anyone knows what I do wrong?
I have the same problem over here. Tried it at night.
And notifications + sounds indeed get's popping up.
Hele is working as it should do. Have you checked ALWAYS in SET HOURS section or however be sure that you're in the time range set here?
Sure. ALWAYS is checked. And still nothing happens. I have even wrote to Samsung assistance but so far... No replay
Solved
I wrote to answer and they answered.
The blocking mode does not block notifications. It just blocks the sound of notifications and it dsables the led light. So stupid...

The official 6.5 ROM gives me no control over the "flash light" settings in notifications.
I've read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460368
- with no success.
Does anyone know what's the option code to enable flashing ?
ok, I found the solution:
each item needs:
"Options"=dword:4000001F
"AvailableOptions"=dword:0000001f
basically what was described earlier...
another reason to confusion:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\Reminders]
is not reminders, it's really:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{15F11F90-8A5F-454c-89FC-BA9B7AAB0CAD}]
I had the same problem and found these registry settings too.
One thing that is still annoying, though, is that I seem to get a flashing light for new emails, even though I've explicitly disabled all notifications for email (including the flash). I'd really like to stop getting any email notifications at all (even the envelope in the taskbar) as I know that I'll always have new emails (I get 100+ per day)!
same here.. I still hope for a solution ...
I like the flashing feature, but NOT for mail.
I changed value for SMS and missed call.. And now LED blinks forever..
But now, sometimes, my phone does not wake up when i receive an SMS.. Well.. It's a random event.. LED blinks but sometimes it does not vibrate.
I remember that before changing that value SMS notification worked well..
So: Could You, please, tell me what is the original value..?

Hi,
Using GNex with stock JB 4.11.
With my former dumb phone, when I missed a call or a msg, the phone made a brief sound notification periodically as a reminder. With the GNex, there is no reminder. I must wake up the phone and notice a tiny icon in the notification area. Is it possible to configure the GNex to remind by vibration & sound missed events (calls, message, and possibly calendar)?
Thanks.
Although people mostly recommend Light Flow (Light Flow Lite) for controlling the LED, it also controls notification sounds/vibration if you want. It can do repeating notification sounds on whatever interval you'd like.
Its a bit of a hassle to set up though because you need to turn off all notifications in the app natively, then use Light Flow as your only way of controlling them, iirc.
Hi,
Cool thanks. I will check that out. BTW, I find the periodic notification of missed events a useful feature. How come such an advanced device cannot do such a simple thing? I assume "simple" because that is what a dumb phone can do. Or is there any technical / logical reason for not doing this kind of notification in the world of smartphone?

I would assume that the repeat notification option isn't really as necessary when you have a really good notification system that keeps everything together in one place. Not to mention that people kinda live on their phones nowadays, so I guess they assume people won't be missing notifications that often.
GoSMS has the ability to have "reminders"
HI everyone...
Got a bit of an odd one here, hoping someone can help.
For some reason, when the screen on my Sprint S6 is off, any SMS notifications get cut off (or I don't get them at all). I am expecting both an audio and/or vibration notification. If I turn my screen on, I will get the full notification as expected.
I thought maybe this was a problem with the DOZE settings, but I disabled YAATA from Battery Optimization, and it didn't fix anything.
Then I thought maybe it was a YAATA problem, so I went back to the standard built-in SMS app. Same results... either a cut-off, or no, notification when the screen is off, and a full notification when the screen is on.
Anyone have any suggestions on something else I could look at?
(For the record, I'm running stock, non-rooted Sprint S6...)
Much appreciated!
OK, after this has bothered me for MONTHS... I post here, and then figure it out.
I also have Glimpse Notifications installed on my phone. I just opened the app, and saw the following:
"Android Marshmallow sometimes cuts off notification sounds when the display turns on. In this case select Delay Screen On in the Extras menu."
... which, oddly enough fixed it.
I'll leave this here rather than delete it in case it helps others in the future.
Is anyone experiencing push notifications not working? I'm not getting any notifications such as YouTube, Amazon, etc...I set the apps to battery not optimized thinking that would work. I don't know if messenger work with sms as I've been using another phone as my daily driver. What could be wrong? Thanks.

If your talking about something that the phone post to light up when you get some kind of notification, i don't get it either, that can be a bug with Asus, so you may need to bring it up to them when you can (Zentalk website). There is a work around for it, if you look for Screen Notification on google play, that should hopefully help with your problem.

No, I'm not getting the notification at all. Let's say there's a new video on YouTube for someone I subscribe to, I'm not getting the notification that it even happened, yet I have notifications on. For instance with Amazon, when an item is shipped, a notification is "pushed" to the device saying the item has shipped. All these notifications would be located in the top left just don't come. My settings have notifications active so I'm not getting what's wrong.
Could you have enabled dnd mode by accident? Or silent hours? Or blocked the notifications (settings -> apps -> notifications in specific app)?
No issues with GCM, push notifications or regular notifications whatsoever here.

Do not disturb mode is off and the specific apps have notifications turned on. The only push notifications that work so far is Yahoo mail.
I figured it out. It was the auto start manager that was preventing the notifications.
Has anyone noticed that Whatsapp seems to override the "Do Not Disturb" aka DND settings?
I keep getting popups even though I have "Alarms only" DND activated. I do not get sounds but only the popup which activates the screen and lights up the room.
I also noticed that if I set settings-->notifications-->whatsapp notification to Level -1 (as in no notifications) I still get popups, usually the second msg from the same person activates the popup and screen lights up.
I also tested my wife's phone Mi5 with RR nougat as well and same occurs with her phone so it is not a phone thingy but rather a broken DND by android/LOS or RR bug.
Could someone test this with their phone and with another rom perhaps?
Steps to reproduce:
1. Set phone to DND (alarms only) and check that Whatsapp does not override dnd settings (settings-->notifications-->whatsapp)
2. Turn screen off and use another phone to send whatsapp messages (from 1 to several).
3. Check if you get popup messages from whatsapp.

Am I the only one using DND and whatsapp here?
Hello. I had this issue as well, perhaps it is indeed a problem with DND and heads up notifications, as I was surprised when I activated DND and still got WhatsApp notifications.
You can always disable notifications per app, but that's not a proper solution. On the other hand there is an option in Settings->Sound->Do not disturb, which allows you to customize certain aspects like what should it block. That was the solution for me, there is an option to block all visual disturbances with screen on or off, however this may be an option not available in the stock ROM (I'm using Dirty Unicorns, curious name, awesome ROM). Still look for the option in your settings :victory:

Cheers mate for the reply.
Unfortunately I have that setting already enabled, so all visual disturbances should be blocked when screen is off. But if that setting works for you in DU, then perhaps my Z2 RR has a bug and as well Mi5's RR.
I bet this is not a ROM issue but rather WA or Android issue cos the same thing happens with RR, AEX and iirc AICP.
