[Q] 5.0.1 Manual installation failure - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I havent got the OTA yet so I tried to install the update manually from the recovey.
When I try I get this:
Installing update...
L50QCT.00.001.001
mount: failed to mount /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/userdata at /data: Device or resource busy
Verifying current system...
"/system/build.prop" has unexpected contents.
Installation aborted
My current version:
KTU84P.H1
Kernel:
3.4.0-gb1b6fb1
The phone is rooted, s-off and stock recovery.
What am I doing wrong?
The phone is a converted M8 to GPe.

Thread can be deleted.
I just flashed the new RUU instead.

You need stock recovery.
I tried
i flashed the stock Rom. there comes the Update which i cant install
ok i get it i flashed the old boot.img and everythink worked fine...
i extracted it from the old custom rom...
Could you explain how you fixed this? I have exactly the same error: update failed due to error AppSharing.apk - status 7.
It seems OTA is verifying current applications for discrepancies - problem is I have stock recovery and stock ROM which I installed using this RUU from ShippedRoms with verified MD5 > RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_246089_signed
I'm confused as OTA is perhaps informing itself that AppSharing.apk has been modified... but from a clean install??

Lol... I'm in marvel at your attention to detail!
Since you're a senior member, could I call upon your wealth of knowledge which you may dispense here, in this very thread?
Warm regards

The One X is Endeavor, not Pyramid.

Oh, how could I have missed that! I'm in the wrong forum! Many thanks for highlighting my stupidity (which appears to be boundless!)
Warms regards.
I guess the problem is still the same, but the solution and diagnostics might differ.
I would say you need to check your recovery and boot.img are stock, you are locked, and that you are not installing an RUU with a bootloader older than the currently installed one. But I know nothing of Pyramid.

It's all working now. Manage to obtain RUU. Thanks!

[Q]

Hi.
I rooted my HTC One X. In order to install a firewall. I'm using Clockwork Mod Recovery v.5.8.4.0 and the HTC RUU.
A few months ago a new software update was released (4.20.415.4) but I can't install it. After downloading the zip file my phone reboots, but the recovery shows the following messages:

Any Suggestions?

[Q] Error flashing zip (lollipop)

sorry if this has already been answered but after downloading the lollipop update i am taken into recovery and when i try to flash the update file it instantly fails after saying
mount: failed to mount /dev/block....
E: error executing updater binary in zip
i am rooted obviously with s-on
I had the same issue. Flashed with nandroid backup using TWRP. Don't root if asked afterwards. Flashed correct recovery for that backup. Update and it should take.

Error while updating to Android 6.0

Dear all,
My HTC One M8S from T-Mobile gives an error when trying to update to Android 6.0. The phone is currently at version 5.0.2, and completely stock.
I am trying to install the OTA update, but get the following error:
--
system partition has unexpected contents
E:Error in @/cache/recovery/block.map
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
--
I wiped data and cache, and did a factory reset.
Moreover, in accordance to HTC's suggestion I removed the data for Configupdater and Google Services Framework.
This does not resolve the issue.
I have put the OTA downloaded zip, named OTA_M8_QL_UL_L50_SENSE60_TMO_NL_1.21.114.1-1.10.114.11_release_472459l24j5h7g40lc8ekp.zip, on an sd card and tried to apply from sd card, but I get the following error:
E: Find no match PARTITION: for package path /sdcard/ptt.zip
E: unknown volume for path [ ]
E: Can't mount
E: failed to open last_install: No such file or directory
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E: failed to map file
I have found some info with regard to using fastboot or adb to apply the update, but before potentially bricking my phone I wanted to ask whether there isn't anything I am missing here.
Since everything is completely stock, I was hoping there would be a trivial solution I am overlooking.
Any help is much appreciated.
FYI, the OTA you've posted is Lollipop.

Failed to mount during update

Hi,
I successfully installed via Odin then loaded some zip updates onto the memory card and although the update was successful I get a message during the update.
Mount: failed to mount /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system at /system: Permission denied
Anyone know if this is a problem or not ?
Definitely not! Because I saw that too on every update by sdcard in stock recovery. I'm on latest Oreo (Dec 2018).
