Yes, It makes me suspicious though other then that rest looks normal to me. I am thinking to purchase smartphone though Chinese website (taobao) and I have seen lots of fake items over there. Seller says I can order cash on delivery and verify phone myself and pay money later. So, let's see. Plus I have read various comments over there Peoples writing that phone is genuine! But, It's hard to believe if I tell you the price I saw over there for LG G3 D855 32GB version is 1000 RMB that's equivalent of 163 USD besides that sellers writes it authentic/genuine HK version and meanwhile I checked his other items and that was HTC One M8T HK version that is priced at mere 600 RMB that's not even 100 USD

Ive seen that many times on Chinese websites. They have to cover the logo or get in trouble.
Best way to find out if real or not, try flashing firmware for model listed under battery.
If it works its real. If not well you get the picture.

Yes, I can find out that Phone is genuine or fake but need to have hands on it. Chinese fake phone looks similar but when we use it we can identify difference in screen/software etc One of my friend experienced with fake HTC Sensation and one can identify it if person uses for a while.

Seller says he can send invoice copy/ 7 days return warranty etc There are many sellers such from Shenzhen who sells LG G3 D855 or HTC M8T under such price but when I contact each all says it's genuine. It's hard to believe.
I buy a lot of junk off of taobao. Under $200 for a G3? Fake
Sellers cover the logo so their listings don't get taken down for infringement/selling knock-offs.
You might notice this when you buy knock-off cases/covers. They blur out the Samsung or LG logo to "get around it"
It is fake. The real G3 screen is not grey when it is off. This is already a big hint and has nothing to do with the way the picture is taken or any angles. This is a real G3 screen. See this picture.
The flash LED IS WHITE ONLY, not two tone (amber/white)
The volume buttons are not cross hatch pattern like the real one. they are smooth or stainless steel look.
The speaker doesn't have a chrome metal mesh over it (behind the back cover.)
The autofocus looks black/fake not maroon like the real deal.
The LG logo is there but if it's a D855 or a D851 where's the Carrier logo at the bottom?
It's $163... LG can't even make it for that little.
The LCD screen is seamless black from the edge of the phone to the area where it illuminates. The one picture has a black LCD but you see a gray frame around the LCD. (Good indication it's a cheap low res screen.)

Yes, I too think it's fake now. Thanks guys for detail explanation.
I can trust international sellers blindly but I can NEVER trust Chinese sellers
By the way, COD (cash on delivery) won't protect you from fake goods. The delivery service won't give you the box until you pay for it, so you CAN'T check it out and pay later. Once you give the delivery guy your money, it's gone.

I didn't know that. Thanks I thought I could open up parcel and pay later on.
Easiest way, pop off the battery cover and look for any markings that can identify the model number. Most fakes don't have this

Not all D855's have a carrier logo. I brought mine sim free from Carphone Warehouse in the UK and it has no carrier logo on it.

charger doesn't look legit
the back speaker on the real ones don't have the white piece in the middle so that's a dead giveaway
some of these fakes are really good, quit being tempted by these "great deals"
unless you want a fake phone
There's a simple rule of thumb for things like this:
"if it seems too good to be true, it probably is."

cause some cases dont have the opening on the back
The light bar is transparent, you can see right through it.

Three lights are located at the top center of transparent piece. so it should light up front and back evenly.
Went to T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon retail stores today looking for a universal case that would hold this device and none of them had one!
This cannot possibly be the only 5" device on the market. Pathetic selection. What kind of business model doesn't have accessories to support the devices they provide?

I totally agree with what you say and unfortunately we have to wait till it becomes more avaiblable in the US. If we were in Europe or else where it would be easier.
All the stores like ATT tMobile, etc. in the US are garbage and useless. Unfortunately this is how it is here.

Nimche, you don't know how it is here in Brazil... Hahaha. Anyway, yes, having no support on a product you bought... really sucks.
I had one of the FEW Sony Ericsson Satio that were sold in Brazil, and trust me... A Nissan Pathfinder went over it, and the cellphone was still working perfectly, but obviously over asphalt the screen got cracked... There was NO Sony Ericsson retailers that had the screen, and only to fix it, it'd cost me 1/3 of the price of the device...
Anyways, I'm receiving a hard case from Handtec with my order. You can get the hard case here: handtec.co.uk/product.php/6407/sony-xperia-s-shell-case---black

Yes, I feel what you say as well. No wonder here in the US people like to get iPhone alot because you go to store and buy the darn thing with all the accessories you want and even WindowsMobile you could go to MS store and get it but Sony with all the power it has is like Sh*t. You go to store, you find the most useless people on the planet to work there, they have no clue what they are selling and no information of what is coming. Every time I go there, I have to surprise them with new Sony's technology.
That hard case is like the original Sony branded (website didn't fully work) but I think Clove at UK and Expansys USA will start selling them too Expansys USA
I like the blue one tho.

nice quality
they have glossy white one too
Amazon UK have put a stop-sell on the white One X apparently due to quality concerns. A colleague was told he couldn't have his faulty One X replaced and they could only offer a refund at this time. He called up to ask why, and they said there had been "quality concerns".
If you go to the Amazon UK page you will see:-

good going HTC...
Probably related to the white back not being quite as impervious as they thought. One of the reasons I got the grey one... nothing stays clean in the same house as my 1 year old.
They might not listen to us lot on xda but I bet they'll take notice when a company as large as Amazon expresses concerns and stops selling the product.

It doesn't look like Amazon are selling the grey one either. If you select grey it shows the seller as webtrader instead of directly from Amazon.
Or is this normal? I've noticed that the seller seems to change every day anyway. Sometimes direct from Amazon, other times not. Is that when they run out of stock or something?

Not sure why its not displaying for you but I just double checked and I can definitely still order a grey one from Amazon UK directly from them (not a seller). I would not be at all surprised if the grey ones are pulled as well shortly. I don't think the issue is to do with anything specific about the white casing.

I received a replacement grey from Amazon today (shipped yesterday) so they must still have some. Batch number HT241W - hopefully a good one! Not had time to test it yet.
Sad to hear this, o2 also unhappy with the return rate they're getting on the One X.

That's what I'm saying...
Currently 16 sellers of the grey model on Amazon - including Amazon. I think they only direct a portion of the search results to their own product, otherwise the other retailers would never get a look in. Look at the "More Buying Choices" column on the right hand side.
I'm betting that Amazon have returned their stock of the white one, which is why they can't offer returns. I got one from them last Friday, HT23Z (and thus far problem free) so I suspect all their stock was HT23. When they start selling the white one again I reckon they'll have a later batch.
I am an Amazon prime customer so I think it is prioritising the one sold by Amazon directly for me because of the included next day service on it. Sometimes it favours the "cheapest" vendor, which is 15 pounds lower than Amazon directly.....so maybe thats why it showed that one in this case.

Ah that makes sense. The randomness is pretty annoying though. I wished they'd just default to Amazon and let you see the other seller prices.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. Today I dropped my phone for the first time ever! The only problem is that the phone was my brand new N7100. Anyone know where to get a quality replacement housing? Screen and battery cover are okay. Only chrome was scratched.

Galaxy Note II Owners & XDA Members:
I'm sorry. I should have been more specific. I've found several places claiming to sell that for which I'm looking. I've posted some below.

What I need, is a reliable seller that has a quality rear housing. My problem is that I've never heard of any of these sellers and I have no idea how well the housings they're selling were made.
Could someone please point me in the right direction? Have any of you ever ordered from one of these sellers? I'm really short on options here. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Edward (Mister_Mxyzptlk)

I would say check out www.cnn.cn I have used that site in the past to get parts for various smartphones of mine especially BB stuff way back in the day. I know they have GN2 N7100 dummy phones for sale, so you may be able to use the parts on one of those.

Ya', cnn.cn carries the housing. It's actually one of the links I included in my previous post. I appreciate you letting me know that they're a straight-forward business though. That was my main worry. However, location is also another big worry for me. Are you aware of any suppliers in the United States or Europe? Communication, shipping times, and reliability are just so much better when you're not dealing with potential scammers in China; and for some reason, it's always China.
I've worked with businesses and eBay sellers in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, India, Australia, the U.K., Germany, and China, and it's always China. I've had a chinese business try to scam me. I've had a chinese business ship me shawdy replacement parts and claim that they're original. If it's not one thing, it's another. Then on the flipside, all of the best stuff comes from China. I have a supplier in China that gets me all of my replacement iPhone parts for my business, and they're fantastic; so is his customer service! It's just so difficult to determine which sellers are good and which sellers are total crap.
Anyway, I should wrap this up. If I don't, it'll turn into a neverending rant. So, if you say that cnn.cn is a good, reliable seller, I guess I'll go ahead and give them a shot. I appreciate your post, and hope you have a pleasant day. Take care and have a good one!
Thank you,
Ed

Sorry Ed, I am not aware of any other suppliers to recommend. I live here in the US as well and have purchased from them many times all without any issue. Still it can be concerning when ordering something from overseas and waiting and waiting and waiting some more for it to arrive.
if it's only scratched chrome, it won't bother me with the protective cover on, hehe

Hi all,
From all that I have seen it doesn't look like the ZL will be officially available in the UK. As such the options for buying a C6503 model are:
Import from Europe
It's quite expensive at the moment, and the retailer which should have no problems shipping abroad (Amazon) had the highest price of them all last time I checked. I can definitely see this working fine, with the German version having en_GB locale support and playing nicely with the operators.
Import from Asia (ie HK)
From Expansys (http://www.expansys.com.hk/sony-xperia-zl-lte-c6503-unlocked-16gb-black-247249) the total works out cheaper by about £60, with the shipping not being much slower. The other positives are that in HK they use the same power plugs as in the UK (no need to mess with power adaptors), and en_GB would definitely come preloaded as a locale. The only worry is that the manufacturer model quoted is 'AP_C6503_BLK', where the 'AP' stands for the Asia-Pacific version. I'm wondering whether this could have any implications on the hardware and software. I suppose as software goes it should always be possible to reflash it to a German firmware, but I can't help but think that something could be different.
Also found this: http://www.simplyelectronics.net/mainproduct.php?pid=21943
Despite coming up on Google Shopping with good reviews, I found other review websites which seemed to suggest the opposite. They also claimed to have had it in stock two or three weeks ago (I've been following this page for a while), when it wasn't even released in Europe. Both of these make me think that this website is a bit dodgy, and make me wonder where the device originally comes from (HK, Germany, Russia?).
I'm seriously inclining towards the second option, but I'm wondering whether anyone around here has previous experience or some information that might be able to help make the best choice.
Thanks.
Amazon Germany and Amazon Italy now have it for circa €560.
Nooo!! do not buy from simply electronics! I had an awful experience and a quick Google will give you the same feedback.
I am in the UK. Love the phone.
I bought mine from eBay from a seller in HK. Took 2 days to arrive via FedEx $599
Seller: jetcodigital
Expect to pay import tax although they did send as a gift with value of $100 so you might be lucky.

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured about Simply Electronics.
So presumably the device you have is an Asia-Pacific version. Did you notice any differences or oddities when it came to the software/hardware?
Thanks for the feedback, I haven't actually checked eBay yet but will give it a quick look.
Hi I haven't noticed anything strange yet. Seems like the right version for me. No odd software or anything. I'm using it on three UK. Everything has worked great right out of the box. Very pleased.
Now I can sell my htc ONE. ( ZL camera is better )

Another 3 uk user here, got my 6503 for ~£500 after shipping and tax from the states seller: never-msrp.
Even works on 3's secret LTE
Only issue is the US AC adapter.
I am gonna buy a white 6503 version from the German site; Cyberport.de
They can send it to several countries and the prices for that aren't that high.
The phone itself will cost you €550,00 and the shipping to the Netherlands (where I live) are only €13,00.
They've got the black version in stock, and the white version (that I want) is gonna be there in several days.
If you want to check out other stores in Germany:
Geizhals.de: black Sony Xperia ZL
Geizhals.de: white Sony Xperia ZL
Geizhals.de: red Sony Xperia ZL
Well, I ended up buying it from Amazon.de, which worked out to pretty much £500 after shipping and currency conversion. While Expansys.com.hk would have been cheaper, I felt that the European warranty was worth the additional price.
The funny thing is that I ordered yesterday and I should get it tomorrow. Ordering a device which isn't available in the UK, from Amazon.de, and guess what? The device was in the Milton Keynes distribution centre! Seems almost ridiculous, really.
Let us know how you get on.

Yeah it will be white for me, only little thing is that the notification led is better to see on the black one I think...
But I don't like the shiny sides of the black one, and when I first saw the white version I fell in love, so that's why.
And I think the notificationbar and bar with the buttons will look better on the white, on the black ZL it looks so greyish.
I got mine today, and man... it sure looks good and feels nice. It feels a bit heavy, compared to my S3, but I'll get used to that. The screen also looks good when looking at it directly, but gets worse as soon as the viewing angle increases. Although I suppose this is a good thing, as other people trying to look at my device shouldn't see as much as on my S3! The bezel on the side looks a bit bigger than on the pictures, but it's not a big deal. Overall when looking at video or pictures fullscreen it looks stunning, since there is so little bezel.
Now, since I'm a power user, I'm wondering whether I want to unlock the bootloader or just root. I actually don't mind Sony's customisations that much (barring Chrome instead of the stock browser, and the standard Gallery app), however if CM becomes stable enough I might put it on. Perhaps just the root for locked bootloaders will be good enough for now.
Nice to know some others in the uk have one. It's an exclusive club!)
Great phone so far for me. No regrets and no disappointment. I feel the same about the viewing angles. I'm stock all the way for once so will enjoy the factory experience.
I'm trialing the battery saving features at the moment. So far today I have had some good results. I'm not one for these features normally but I thought a the phone has had them I would give it a go.

Or is silver really available for EVR-L29?
Available in silver right here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Huawei-Mat...cdecb9854:m:mbmVlXzSrP9-WyZWmeS0z2w:rk:1:pf:0
I just bought a blue from him. I've purchased a mate 8, p9 and p9 pro from this seller before. I debated hard on buying silver but for every picture I saw where it looked silver, I saw two more where it looked too purple.

Yeap, that's the one I was going to buy but I was certain only blue is available for EVR-L29. All the other sellers online (ebay, amazon, wondamobil, etc...) only do EVR-L29 in blue. He's the only one doing silver. Interesting.
Got it in silver bought it from mobyshop Singapore they have international shipping methods.

Ye you often see the blue one or china version in silver, there are some reviews from South Asian regions youtubers where you can sometimes see a view of it.
Not really good at photos and still have the back film on the phone but you can get an idea :

Exactly my thoughts
It depends on the region it's sold in. I know in Malaysia it's sold in both blue and silver, while in Hong Kong it's in blue only.
Silver does exist, it's just more rare.

I'm referring to EVR-L29, the global model.
Not EVR-AL00 the mainland China model. EVR-AL00 comes in more configurations. Silver, blue, 128G, 256G.

Rebranding a Chinese Mate 20 series phone isn't possible. They will probably add play store, but that's the extent of what they can do.
who cares about the color? I assume you will throw a case on it anyway... ?

It's not. Trust me. My full time job is reverse-engineering Huawei devices.
Many of the Chinese resellers who rebrand phones are my customers.
If someone tells you it is, they're mistaken. They're either scamming you, or they don't realize the changes in oeminfo for the Kirin 980 generation of phones. The oeminfo is encrypted/signed for each individual device, and modifying the regional branding isn't possible. Having a fully rebranded device isn't possible. Nobody has developed a way to do it, and sadly, it's looking unlikely to be able to fully rebrand the phone.
I'm only telling you to help you not get scammed. I'll be very impressed if you prove me wrong.
Do you have such a device in-hand? A screenshot of the About Phone screen?
SmartPhonesFan said:
I don't think they lying.. chinese can do anything .. and u can buy any tools and readers .. They will be probably removing chip on the phone flashing it with global rom with special tool connected to laptop using windows ..

It's not an issue of being able to write to the memory of the phone. Anyone can do this with an unlocked bootloader. The issue is the regional branding of the phone, and the inability to change it from all/cn to something else due to device-specific signing/encryption.
It's fine if you don't believe me, but I think you will be disappointed with what happens if you trust they can do it.
SmartPhonesFan said:
man absolutely no .. huawei /honor just making one production line where motherboards goes through the manuf. process and at the end of the line
they have PC and already set which firmware will goes to which piece or batches .. and worker just will flash it he has 3 ROMs global /EU and china ..
branding or region that is irrelevant..

It seems that you have been very, very badly misinformed about both Huawei's production process and the relevancy of region/branding. Still, I'm very interested to see what the reseller ends up doing, so please let us know.
I did a quick search for EVR-L29 Malaysia and did come up with a midnight blue or phantom silver for sale on Expansys.
Ye Malaysia and Singapore are the only known regions that i know of which have both color EVR-L29, I'm not sure about 3rd party sellers, if it's true or not but since i bought it from an official seller/store, i have the phone and it's legit EVR-L29 phantom silver but not sure about the others. You're also covered with the 2 years Huawei warranty + mpen and smart cover free (maybe a limited time offer).
Most EVR-L29 from resellers are coming from HK supply and HK only have Blue for now in global version, that's why you see most of the time Blue ones.
