I am using Apex pro launcher and Dolphin browser. When lauching the browser fro either the app or from a hyperlink in an email the browser will open in portrait mode and will then switch to landscape. Landscape is my default mode. Why does it not open in landscape mode?
Use an app called rotate. It can force rotate any app. It doesn't open in landscape mode because the app isn't optimized correctly for llanmdscape
I will try that app but, I do not think the switching is because tha app is not designed for landscape. I use the same launcher and browser on my Asus TF700 10.5 tablet and it always launches in landscape?
Oh then probably because of Samsung. They probably do something differently which launches the app in portrait. Or some sort idk

I am attempting to accomplish a theme much like what the Dell Streak guys are doing here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=899879).
While our screens are not 5", like the Streaks, we can get roughly the same viewing size with the "LCD Density Changer" app. The app just shrinks everything, so it isn't to bad with a younger set of eyes.
If this theme was set up on our phones, then the wallpaper and Icon placement would be distorted as it were cycled through orientations.
So my question/request for an app is something to lock your home screen orientation into landscape. ADW launcher is capable of this!! However, I purchased Launcher Pro Plus, and I prefer this launcher.
All the apps out currently only lock portrait (by turning off auto-rotation). And the only Google searches I can find are a few pointing to an app that fools the phone into thinking the slide out keyboard is open. That app only works on a device that has a physical pull out keyboard.
Thanks in advance

Does anyone know if the stock browser uses a different app to play videos?
I have auto rotate off by default. I use Tasker to enable auto rotation only in a few of my apps such as the stock browser, youtube, and videos.
However when I play a video in the browser, it will never rotate into landscape view unless I slide the keyboard out. If I exit the video, the browser behaves as I expect it to with auto rotate on.
When I try this same thing in other browsers (Opera, Firefox, etc), the video auto rotates properly. The specific Youtube and Video apps also rotate properly.
I can only surmise that the stock browser initiates some other app to play back videos, which I have not enabled within Tasker, but I can't figure out what that would be.
Any help would be great. I am currently on CM7 nightly 78 but the issue has been ongoing for a long time with other nightlies.
Are the videos flash videos? If they are try adding that to tasker.

Tried that but Flash doesn't show up as an app in Tasker. Only apps that are displayed in the app drawer show up in Tasker =/
eh figured it out. seems like the stock browser plays video through the gallery app. once i allowed the gallery to rotate in tasker, videos played fine.

Hi Guys,
I've sideloaded a media app on my AFTV but on start up and navigation it's fixed in portrait mode.
Once I select a to play a video, it stays in portrait mode. On a normal android device, you'd simply tilt and it would play fullscreen.
I've sideloaded a bunch of Roation Apps (Rotate Screen Orientation, Ultimate Rotation Control...) and tried to force it in landscape rotation (and tried auto-rotation if available) but I believe as the app only starts in portrait mode, it cancels out the landscape function from these apps.
Is there any way of creating a hot key (i've a k400r keyboard attached) to rotate to landscape on command or any other solution?

I'm not close to my AFTV or Ouya, but there is a XPosed module that allows you to alter any app properties. I think it's called "App Settings", you would need XPosed and the said module. That should force the app in landscape mode every time, without a key.
Hopefully someone can help me past my trouble - my SM-P600 is rooted, still on 4.4.2. When I first set it up and rooted it, I dug around on the forums and figured out a way to set different wallpapers for landscape and portrait. Now, after having to replace my SD card that went bad, the portrait orientation picture is gone, and I can't for the life of me figure out where or how I set up the different portrait mode wallpaper- it's just black/no wallpaper in portrait mode now. I didn't use a 3rd party app, either. Anybody out there know where or how to specify a separate wallpaper for portrait vs landscape viewing???
I have Tab S4 (US unlocked) running stock ROM and unrooted. I've noticed a very annoying issue with Wallpapers.
if the screen rotation is left turned on, the wallpaper also rotates. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
The issue that if we set the wallpaper in portrait mode that looks great, rotating it to landscape the wallpaper becomes pixelated and vice-versa..
Thanks.
I've had this problem too. my solution was to install nova launcher then go to settings-look and feel-screen orientation. From there you select force portrait or landscape. Hope this helps.
Now if only I can find a good wallpaper app besides zedge
