Cant copy and paste in S note - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys,
I have the old default brown colored Snote on my device. The same is linked to s pen detachment too. The problem is i cant copy or paste in this s note for some reason. I can perform these functions everywhere else.
I have an updated snote too (the red one) sadly it never replaced the old one as it should have and doesnt even sync the notes from the old one. The cop/paste function perfectly here.
i tried to leave the old app (the brown one) but there no option to trigger the new s note page when s pen is detached. The setting for spen just say pop up note and thats always the old one by default.
Can anyone help me in this reagrd?
PS: oi dont want to root,.

uninstall or deactivate s note, but do a backup of data first if you need it. I remember, that on OF the s pen wasn't very good.
I recommend to you to change to custom ROM i.e. from dr. ketan from 20th Oct 2014, air commands and every s pen function works as in Note 3

[Guide/how to]Sketchbook pro for tablets on Galaxy Note 2

I ran across the universe trying to find some way to run sketchbook pro for tablets on my galaxy note 2, i find it irritating that the phone version is so limited.
I tried adjusting the build.prop, and even the dpi settings and ui with paranoid android but it never looked good, things would still overlap and not function.
Then i found out how to rig it with an xposed installer modification, and since i still didnt see it around i figured i would write up a guide to share with everyone.
This was tested on stock rooted 4.1.1 and stock rooted 4.1.2
Note you will need:
1. Root
2. The sketchbook pro for tablets apk (i used titanium backup to transfer it from my nexus 7).
Steps:
1. Download the xposed installer from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
2. Install xposed installer apk, open it and click install/update, reboot your phone.
3. Install the appsettings apk from http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/microdownloads/xposed-app-settings.5/viewfile
4. Open xposed installer, go to modules, activate app settings, reboot the phone.
5. Install sketchbook pro for tablets (i got the apk after i bought and installed it from my nexus 7, i will not post the apk file.)
6. Open app settings, find autodesk sketchbook on the list and push it.
7. Turn the switch on the top to on, change dpi to 213, and hit save.
Run sketchbook pro for tablets and enjoy.
The ui will be a bit small, but everything should work, and nothing but the pallets should overlap. Pics attached of sketchbook pro running on note 2 screen.

I just figured out how to do this my self today and was going to post the same instructions. Works like a charm. I do not get any overlap with pallets.
Nice! I've been searching high and low for this.
However, I'm not rooted, and really don't want to do it just for this. I don't know much about rooting and really I don't need much of the benefits you rooted guys have.
Is there a way to just install this without rooting, for instance following this:
1. Buy the Pro version on a tablet (I have a galaxy note 10.1 and it works great there)
2. Download and install Astro File Manager on Tabet
3. Go to Astro>Application Manager (on tablet)
4. Locate SketchBook Pro
5. Tap it and select "Back UP". It will create a copy of the of the apk.
6. Email, bluetooth, dropbox, etc, the apk to your Note 2
7. Locate with with Astro App on Note 2 and side load it.
Has anybody tried to do it that way? I have a very stable Note 2, besides the Amazon AppStore app, I have never side loaded any apk and I don't want to mess up anything by side loading anything that is not compatible.

This will work, the app will run. The only problem with this method is it runs on the phones dpi, as such pallets and toolbars are scaled up and overlap and dont fit properly.
Same thing with Paranoid android's dpi settings, just never changed it right and things would overlap.
Thus why i rigged up this method, so that things wouldnt overlap and so everything was usable.

[Q] Bluetooth keyboard switches input method

Hi guys,
I got a very nice logitech k810 bluetooth keyboard, But every time i connect it to my phone it switches my input method to the samsung keyboard.
Even if i set swiftkey to default. It's quite irritating..
Does anybody know if i can disable this? Or maybe which service/package causes this then ill make an xposed mod myself to stop it.
Thanks!

Thanks for your response. However i just finished writing a mod to solve this issue at the root of the problem.
PS: Would anybody be interested in me releasing this mod?
It will stop the switch to the samsung keyboard when either using a bluetooth or USB keyboard or an dock.

I will compile one tomorrow. You will be needing the xposed framework, if you don't already have it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Manipur,
First install the xposed framework i linked it in my previous post.
Then install my mod (It doesn't matter if you switch these two around).
You should get a popup that my module isn't active (If you don't get the popup open the xposed installer application and switch to the modules tab)
"Enable XposedFreeInput"
Then reboot, Now when you connect an external input device is shouldn't switch the input method.
Let me know how it goes.
Tasker
A less elegant solution is to grab Tasker and have "Disconnect from BT keyboard" trigger an input selection popup.

Hi so sorry... Been busy a bit.
I wouldn't want to change my settings as of now. What I basically did was install an apk called keytest.
I already had external keyboard helper pro installed. I just remapped a few keys so that the keyboard doesn't change to samsung keyboard. On top of that I also added a keyboard map for the physical menu button so that I can launch it anytime I require.

U know what... I was slightly not comfortable installing the Xposed framework, because I don't have cwm recovery installed. My note 2 is just rooted using CF-Auto root method. So I can't basically make a nandroid backup. I used this method so that I can get OTA updates now and then by disabling root.
But the pop up to change to Samsung default was pretty irritating. I've tried using tasker to create a profile, but I couldn't assign the parameters. I took the risk of a bootloop and took the plunge, installed Xposed framework and installed your Xposed free input...and it works great. Now I don' t have to change my input method everytime I connect my wireless keyboard. Thanks to you man.
Sorry for being a little chicken hearted.

Cool thing about xposed is that you don't need CWM, Just root.
However i do understand your discomfort, I rooted my phone 2 days after purchasing it. The thought that i might wreck a quite expensive phone within 2 days (while voiding my warrenty) wasn't a pleasurable one indeed.
Anyway glad the mod worked, Now at least i can say it has been officially tested
Just stumbles upon this thread while searching for a solution to this annoying problem with input method switching (I bought a BT keyboard yesterday). Scalee -- thanks a lot for the module! I already use Xposed for a lot of other stuff, so that was a no-brainer for me. Just another proof that you can find pretty much anything here on XDA. If it's not here, there's a good chance it doesn't exist...
It works. Thank you so much!

Tried it on a samsung s4 with android 4.3 (rooted).
I had to uninstall it as it was causing 75% of what I type to be lost unless I slowed down to no more than a character or two per second.

Something got really hosed. Uninstalling XposedFreeInput and rebooting didn't restore the keyboard. I had to go back to a nandroid backup to fix keyboard input.
I don't really mind the samsung popup -- I just hit return on the keyboard twice to get past it. What really made me crazy was that samsung would reset the soft keyboard to their own instead of swiftkey. I ended up using tasker with security settings / system+ / input method to keep it set to swiftkey.
This App fixed it for me, but it needs root.
it fixed my problem, that the bluetooth keyboard would not be recognised from the SwiftKey. Now I can easily switch between physical and touch keyboard - Nexus 4 v4.4.2

BTW, has anyone seen an actual improvement in this version over older version ? To me, it looks this update is meant for Note II to be more compatible with Galaxy Gear ! I expected Note III S Pen features (atleast some) to be in this update.

Here's how I got mine to finally work:
Add the "S Note (direct) 4 x 1" widget to your screen.
Tap on the widget's pen button to create a new note.
Exit out of S Note, and from now on, you can open the app from the regular app icon. You can also remove the widget that you added.
If this works for anyone else, feel free to say so. I don't know if this is really the "fix" or if it was just coincidence. I didn't want to do a factory reset either, so I tried several things beforehand, including clearing cache/data and even trying to disable the syncing.

Package Disabler

For those of us not willing to root right now, I have to say using package disabler to turn off CleanMaster, S-Voice and S-Finder have done wonders in the last 48 hours for making this phone just as responsive as my 2014 Moto X was. Wow I can confirm. Worked fine before and now it doesn't work. Doesn't even let me active the pack disabled anymore. Smh.
What do I do about the apps I disabled?
Doesn't work, License server error before program starts.
Also very dangerous tool as it needs internet to work.
If you by misstake disable something that has to do with connectivity you will end up having to do a factory restore !!
If you by misstake installed this crap onto your device, you might notice that the de-install option is greyed out, don't panic.
Go into the security section and de-select the app under device administrators.
Now it can be de-installed.
Here's a much better and SAFER alternative:

Doesn't work and useless unless the internet dependency is removed.
Usually these kind of apps are being offered for free at XDA forums, but there's always somebody who's trying to
turn it into a buck, totally disregarding the people who d/l this and softbrick their phones...
Also the whole purpose and usefulness of the tool is defeated if you need internet access to d/l and use it.
Reason being the phone fills up with crap, the same second you connect it to the internet the first time.
You want to run a tool like this before, not giving the phone a chance to fill up with junk/updates.
Especially important is this in regards to OTA.
Disabled junk is still junk eating precious space on your mobile.

I am not sure what you are saying about this app is correct! in Android please tell me which app do not require internet, and accessing internet is dangers then all apps in play store is dangerous. Debloater do not give any recombination for which packages to disable, if you disable system packages with Debloater the only option left is factory reset (I have to factory reset my Note 3 after using Debloater)

i haven't root my S6 edge and don't really want to yet. so i was looking for something like this.
yeah i debloated it with a few app i actually use, great thing about this app is that it shows you which app are "confirmed" safe to deblot. it actually debloted automatically like 140things from my system.
where can i get those codes i don't se it in any of the setting?
i was about to give up on touchwiz and this galaxy s6, since i got it touchwiz has been hell with the reloading of widget and icons, clear cache and data help but a few hours later the slowness would returned ( i already exchanged devices 4 times for other reason and all of them had the same problem), also phone would get hot, sometimes pretty darn hot.
This app has solve all problem (also a different launcher like nova solved it) but using touchwiz and this debloted app have giving me more battery life, super fast device, no more reloading, and it never heats up.
i for one would like to have a device from samsung that i would not have to deblot to get a lag free experience. i believe the only device i have never root from samsung was the note 3 which ran like a champ always.

BTW,
These are the 3 packages that i needed to disable to kill OTA on my S5 with KitKat 4.4.2:
com.wssyncmldm
com.sec.android.fotaclient com.policydm
com.policydm

About time someone thought about security. That program is being used a lot on the note 5 forum. I find it to be potentially a huge security issue. I initially downloaded it and installed. I later that about it. I just went ahead and factory reset. It has way too much access imo.
can i use it to disable the my t-mobile app ?

Yeah you can.
Side note: I noticed it says knox is bloat.. But when I disable it causes my phone to bug out. Anyone else have similar issues?

I hate the newer Phone app, want the old one

Google changed the Phone app back in early Summer or so, and get rid of the great swipe feature to move between the tabs. And it was that swipe way for years, and was always smooth and fast fluid.
Well since the new update back in May or June, that swipe feature is gone, and it always feels a bit slow laggy. On my Pixel 2 XL it feels laggy, compared to the older Phone app. And now on my 3 XL same feel, it's just janky and nowhere near as smooth operating as the old Phone app.
Is there a way to delete the current Phone app and install the last of that swipe version ?

Go to app mirror and I stall o e from around may or earlier. Delete the old one first using so e sort of system app remover if yours was installed as a system app.
I tried but didn't work.
I used Titanium Backup to uninstall Phone. Rebooted. Then downloaded several Google Phone .apk from May version 19xx and none of them would install.
So I just went back to the crappy stock one we all have.

Well I'm running g a custom ROM (ressurection ROM) that has its own system app remover or you can manual find the app with a root explorer and remove it
I do have a root explorer Pro I'm just not sure exactly where that app is hidden and is it just the phone app only I delete? Or are thete a couple of other things connected to it I also need to delete first before installing the older version?

Usually the dialer can be found in system/priv-app :good:
Now I just need to find the last Phone apk before Google changed it to the current ****astic version.

Bwahahahahaha...nice word bruh! Gotta remember "****astic" for future reference! I do agree with you though. That swipe feature on the old dialer was fandamtastic! :good::good:
since Google changed it back in the summer on both my pixel 2 and now my pixel 3 it's just not smooth it seems a little janky or has a slight lag to it or is before the older one with the swipe between tabs it was buttery smooth ultra-fast even on old phones in mind that perform very well just not a fan of this new version whatsoever it's a real ****fest from Google
