[Q] help please.. - HTC One X

hi my brother gave me his htc one x to restore to defualt (it is/was stock rooted) i turned it on to see if i could via an ota then turned it off to go to recovery and wipe everything but as soon as it showed the hboot screen the screen turned off and shows no sign of charging or anything i am able to make a connection to my computer but not long enough for it to reconize it it just connects for about 1 second then disconects and then rapidly connnects and disconnects for a little bit, recovery is not loadin, nor is the hboot screen nor is normally turning it on.
what i have tried:
power + volume up (and held for up to 1min)
power + volume down (held for up to 1min)
power (held for up to 1min)
power+volume up + volume down (held for up to 30secs)
and various combinations of the above with also plugging in power cord, having power cord plugged in, and not having power cord plugged...
does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

[Q] How do you tell if phone is in download mode?

So, I had to replace the screen on my phone because it was cracked. But not after putting it all back together, the phone just boots loops. I am trying to follow the guide about unbricking your phone but I am unsure about getting into download mode. I hold down both volume buttons and plug in the usb into the computer, but noting happens except the phone just keeps boot looping. How do you tell if phone is in download mode? What does the screen look like?
If you get into download mode, you can't miss it. It is pretty obvious. To get your phone into download mode, shut off your phone (Hold power button for 12 second), wait 2-3 sec, press both volume button and then insert usb cable.
Hmm. Seems like my problem is something else. I can't get in into download mode. I cant even get the phone ti turn on if it isn't plugged in.

Could your battery be dead? Getting to download screen is a bit tricky as far as the timing is concerned.
USB should be already inserted, otherwise phone will just boot when you plug the cable in.
So usb pluged in, next turn off the phone via power button, now hold both volume buttons + power, should work.

^this has been my experience as well. Turn phone off. Insert USB. Wait for charging screen to flash on and disappear. Then press and hold vol+ vol- power until Download Mode screen flashes on, then release buttons.
First of all when in download mode you'll see a box displayed saying "download mode" it's hard to miss even you try to.
Here's how I did it. Instead of trying to push both vol + and- , press the middle part of the volume rocker. And press power button at the same time. USB cable can be plugged in advance or can be inserted later on. Only advantage of plugging the USB later is it gives you a proper grip and reassurances you've pressed the button combination correctly. Note that the phone will look for a USB presence before booting to download mode..hope this helps

[Q] In Dire NEED OF HELP

Hello everyone i have a problem with my htc one x .was charging it over night and the next day i found it turned off.Got to turn it on holding the power button for 30 sec but after like a few days it turned off again and does not turn on anymore not with power button holding not even holding power button +volume down + volume up. and seems like it does not take charge either because no led light up when plugged in.the PC does not recolonize it and i dissembled it took of the battery and tried a static electricity discharge and still nothing.. any advice from you guys what should i do.

Hard reset fastboot is enabled

Hello everyone, my girlfriend is having an issue where her m8 won't turn on. We looked at it last night and put it on the charger (although we didn't expect it would be dead already) and then left it over night. Woke up this morning and it's still having the same issue. I tried doing both a hard reset and soft reset, just anything to get it out of this weird loop it's in. Everywhere I look for information on hard resetting it says you need to disable fastboot - something a little difficult to do if your phone won't turn on. Are there any other tricks or work arounds that maybe I'm overlooking? I'd prefer to stay away from 3rd party fixes if possible that will void the warranty as I don't want her phone to get rejected if we need to send it out for repair. The closest repair facility is a bit of a distance so I want to see if there is something we can do from home first.
Thanks!
Disabling the "fastboot" option isn't really necessary.
Although I'm not sure what "weird loop" means. If its actually doing a boot loop, and rebooting, then just hold vol down to enter bootloader.
Otherwise, if its just "stuck" on the boot screen, then hold power and vol up to force a reboot (hold for maybe 10 seconds or so); and the moment the screen goes dark, let go of vol down and start holding vol down and don't let go until you see bootloader.

My apologies, my terminology may be incorrect.
The display is not turning on. Holding power + volume up or power + volume down do not get the screen to turn on.
The instructions I looked at all say disable fastbooting before trying to force boot or hard reset. So that was my confusion.
I really appreciate the help.

Any charging LED when charger connected? Any response from computer if you connect the phone?
Leave the phone on charger (wall charger, not connected to a computer) overnight, and try the button combos again (also, try just holding power down, no other buttons; in addition to the button combos you listed). Try this with the charger connected, as well as without.
Some folks have gotten their seemingly dead M8's to revive with apparently random combinations of button pressing (often holding the buttons for a long time, 1 to 2 minutes) charger plugged in, etc.

The only reasons instruction say that, is that the phone either needs to be "real" power off, or a reboot in order for the button combo to go into bootloader (power + vol down) to work. When "fastboot" is selected in Power settings, it actually prevents a real power down (its actually just a sleep state). But if you reboot, it doesn't matter. A reboot is a reboot, it doesn't matter if "fastboot" is enabled. And Power + vol up is one way to force a reboot.
None of this matters, if the phone is not responding (screen not coming on) at all in the first place.

I did leave it on the wall charger last night and was playing with different combinations. I'm going to try plugging it into my computer when I get home. I'm not noticing any LEDs come on however which is what is making me think it's not a screen issue.

I recall reading that someone got a similar issue sorted by hold Volume Up or Volume Down + Power button while holding the phone under a bright light(proximity sensor at the front needs to be directly under light).
There was similar threads/methods on the old HTC One(M7) too that apparently worked. Don't know if it's just coincidence or what Might be worth a shot.
Edit: Volume UP OR Volume down, not both at the same time

Tri taking SD Card and SIM card out and start.
Have you tried another charger?

Xperia S is dead. RED LED ON ONLY

So, i tried to repartition my Xperia S and all went well i installed a rom and gapps, and after i rebooted the phone went off and it doesn't turn on anymore, i tried charging it but after 12 hours of charging the red led is on again, there are no vibrations i can't power it on, can't do a hard reset (holding power button and volume up key) also can't connect to PC, when I connect it via USB the red led goes on again, i tried to connect it in fastboot/flashboot but it's the same thing again the red led goes on like it's charging
PLS HELP. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO BRING BACK TO LIFE MY XPERIA S?
Seems like no. You may try to manually remove battery and let it a bit rest for 15-20 min but I'm not sure if it helps. Have you held your power+volume up\down buttons long enough?
Soft brick tips - and check this

UPDATE: when the phone is connected to the PC via USB, after holding power button + volume up + volume down button the sony logo comes on, and the led goes off .. but this last for about 20 sec and the screen goes off again. I tried to go into recovery when the sony logo comes on but no luck there

Use the rubber band technique to flash the stock ROM on Your phone.
I fixed my phone finally!!!! The thing I did is i charged it 24+ hours, and than i pressed the power + volume up/down keys together, and the phone powered on and I was able to enter flashmode and flash the stock ftf and repair my phone ))))

Won't Power On / Help

I was using the phone and hit the power button for sleep. Then when I checked it 1 hour later it will not power up. It there a way to reset the phone, this is why I hate phone you can't take the battery out of. But it is just a travel phone and now I am stuck.
Any key combinations or anything! ??!?!
You should be able to just hold the power button until the screen lights up. If that doesn't work hold the power button while connecting the usb c cable to charge it
Power button+volume down for 30 seconds.
Most likely the qdloader 9008 bug.. Volume down and power for 60 seconds always fixes the issue. Either that or let it discharge on its own for a day or so then plug it in and you're good to go!
Hi !
Have anyone sorted this problem with suggestion ?
Mine is getting warm when charging (warmer next to the power button area) but still no led indicator or power ON !??!
