Hey guys
I have been eyeing the motox and nexus6 but its just too ezpensive for me right now. So i want to continue using my e980 as a daily driver.
I still have the original factory battery, which i believe has lived it up. I am looking for advice on replacement and wanted to check if anyone here has taken similar steps? It does heat up every now and then and im assuming its the battery.
Also, anyone of you running the beanstalk or vanir L rkm as a daily driver ?
Please advise.

So what are you asking? Are you looking for a replacement battery because yours is old? As far as lp rom I'm using bliss and its running fine so far on second day.

Bliss LP rom doesn't sleep no matter what you do (bad standby battery drawing), AICP LP rom does sleep but no data and no gps.... hmmmm...
Regarding battery, honestly I've bought so called "original" batteries and they all seems to be fake, I don't know, just get a battery from a good brand, you name it, zerolemon?

Just wait for the ROM to get better. It is in alpha right now. Buying a new battery won't make much difference

Have you tried flashing back to stock jb then following machinistWIP's post to achieve deep sleep? Mine sleeps like an old man.
Damn should have got zerolemon but I ended up ordering a OEM battery from Amazon.
Guess ill wait and see if it holds a good charge

I have yet to try that with lp, but I'm sure it can't hurt
As long as I start with 10k, mine is like a baby

Hello everyone, in a month I'm getting the s3 and after coming from a Motorola defy, I know battery life won't be as good. I see there are a ton more JB ROMs for the s3 than the defy so I would like your advice for the ROM with best battery life. Also, the defy has no custom kernels so I'm unfamiliar with how they work. Any advice?

I would say there isn't a good answer to your question until an OTA JB official is released. Right now are just leak based or CM/AOSP based and very few of them for t-mo are very stable. There are a few kernel mods that will give you ability to undervolt or underclock, and that is best bet at battery life.
Basically the screen and radios will eat up your battery no matter what, but with screen off in various sleep states, if you put WLAN to sleep, it can last a very long time. The best solution is to invest in a USB external battery pack probably.

Hey guys, I have a terrible problem here. The problem is that I got tired of Sense and I love stock android 4.2 and I just cannot use roms built on that android version because the battery drain is humongous. Using my phone just to check twitter and facebook and it goes down in 3 hours. I tried Cyannogen Mod and I'm now on Icecoldjelly both with Xm kernel and it is always the same. This is terribly annoying because the roms are perfect and so is the phone, except for that battery. Does anybody recommend I do something, are there some mods/tweaks to increase battery life? Is I cleared battery stats and performed more than 3 charge cycles, in case you ask. Thank you, hope you can help me

haha! and I thought I was the only one... I see people who are getting 15-18 hours on ICJ...
I also get terribly low battery backup... even though battery is calibrated.. Sync off... Auto Brightness.. etc etc...
However, on sense roms I get great battery!

I would suggest a faulty battery, I use mine for twit and fb too and a whole load of other stuff but i get a lot more than 3 hours. I am on slimbean 4.2 now but I have tried cyanogen 10.1 and icj, both of which gave me similar battery life to slim, although neither of them could equal slimbean they were not as bad as you are experiencing

But the battery is fine in sense roms so that is a bit hard to believe. This is really crazy, in 4 hours today it got to 25%, one of those hours being in standby. I'll try some other roms

The reply wasn't intended to get you to try slim, only to show that not all 4.2 roms are as heavy on battery. there are plenty of others to try, I just prefer slim
I get around this much:

I'd say thats about normal, but the op's 3 hours is seriously wrong. I would have to use navigation, music, facebook, twitter and XDA all at the same time to run my battery down that fast
With minimal usage I got around 5/6 hours. I'm going to try other roms and settings to see if I get this right. I'm currently on slim. I'll see how it performs tomorrow. If it goes bad then wth, I'll just go back to a Sense rom
Disable auto sync/fb location... use trickster mod and set governor to smartmax and IO scheduler to row/sio...
Cap the max frequency to 1.2 GHz... Use greenify to hibernate apps which you don;t need..
There is absolutely no lag for me... When I want to play some games I just switch to interactive or gaming governor!
Thanks everybody, I found my daily driver, today I got 13 hours with regular usage and still 25% to go, slimbean is the best. Even if it was not a recommendation to test the rom, it helped a lot

If you remove Juice Defender and make some changes yourself, the battery will probably get better. That's why I asked to see a BBS log. Seems pretty mediocre to me. Not trying to #1 on your parade. If you're happy, that's all that matters.
It's been a while since I've paid much attention to mine, but a few months back I was easily getting roughly 4+ hours screen on time and 27 or so hours overall.
This was rooted stock firmware, stock kernel.
Read woodys battery thread. It may help you out. But like Aerowinder said, as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. Your battery life is certainly not bad, so if you've got things set up how you like, and you don't find yourself running low at bad times, you may not want to mess with it too much.

Sorry I don't know what a BBS log is :/
And I understand juice defender is an ongoing service that affects battery, but wouldn't the fact that it cuts data when the screen is off be better?
If juice defender takes up more battery by running than by data continuing to run at screen off, then I may change...

Hey All,
I flashed the Shiny ROM recently. I am getting pretty bad battery life though I didn't own the phone long enough before flashing a Shiny to know if this was a Shiny issue or not. Anyways, I like the ROM well enough but was curious if anyone could suggest another ROM that perhaps goes easier on the battery. I am just on the edge of getting a zero lemon battery but thought I might try a few more software tricks before I plunk down the cash for that battery.
I have already replaced the shiny kernel that is baked into the ROM with the KK422 kernel which I had heard is easy on the battery. Seems to be helping a bit so far.
I know that battery use is highly individual, I am mostly looking for a starting suggestion. I can run my own usage diagnostics.
Thanks yet again!
Use greenify and wakelockdetector. Also you can try to tweak with trickster to get better battery.

Thanks. After I wrote that OP it occurred to me, probably kernels more so than ROMs affect battery life. Just based on the little that I now that would seem to be the case. Is that true at all?

I've tried a couple kitkat roms for my note 2 and the battery drains at 15-20% an hour with no activity. It's also slow to charge.
Is this common with 4.4.2? Should I stick with 4.3 for the time being?

Trying and using are a lil different.[emoji48]
Trying we flash it (Rom) then if it's not acting right we flash something else...
Using is when you AT least let the Rom settle into your phone/device. A day or two should be good enough to know what's doing what...
Check this app out if you don't have it yet»» http://goo.gl/vffD4d
In order to compare battery stats...
Another thing is your kernel and your setting that affect your battery life...

However, in the meantime, check your Location settings. In "Mode" take it off "High Accuracy" and change to "Battery Saving"
