[Q] Genuine vs non-genuine replacement screen - Nexus 7 (2013) Accessories

Hi,
I'm having a cracked screen replaced. They give me two options: a genuine or an OEM screen. The difference is significant, about 40%. Is it important? Is there a visible difference between the two?

[Q] Replacement screen for Z1 Compact

Are there any experiences with cheaper "oem" replacement screens found on ebay? Actually around 40$...
Just replaced mine two days ago with a cheap $40 one.
All i can say, you get what you pay for. The lighting on the sides of the screen are a bit too noticiable, and the gamma seems to be a bit off.
I haven't had the chance to see if tweaking the white balance whould solve that.
However at a fraction of the price of new oem screen, i am satisfied enough.
Even on a really sunny day, in direct sunlight, the screen is clear enough.

Source for OEM screen assembly?

I dropped my P600 and broke the digitizer. I read here that it was nearly impossible to replace just the glass, so I bought a replacement screen assembly from etradesupply, where I have had good experiences in the past. However, the quality of the screen is night and day from the original. The original screen was one of the clearest and sharpest I've ever seen. The replacement is muddy and has persistent bright spots throughout. I thought I could live with it, but I'm having a hard as I remember how great the original was.
So far, I can't find anyone who sells an original Pentile screen made by Samsung. Even the ones that claim to OEM are really just OEM-compatible. Anyone have any ideas? My other thought is to look for a broken Note 10.1 and transplant the screen, but most of the broken ones have broken screens!
Any help is appreciated!

The screen is the most expensive item and since it's an old device, I would recommend to buy another used one instead. You could try to sell or use the old one for parts. It will cost you more if you tried to replace just the screen, not mention all the time, labor and headache...
Samsung will install new oem screen for $223 (including shipping). Cheapest oem screen I found was $175. Worth the extra $$ to have someone else install it and get a 90 day warranty, just call the Samsung warranty #. They will arrange the non-warranty repair. I received mine back from Samsung four days after sending it.

Replacement Screen Help

I've carried out a screen replacement using a part that was advertised as a genuine OEM replacement part, but I've got a few issues with it and I wanted to know what other people thought.
The new display has some shadowing around the edges, and suffers from screen burn after only a few minutes on a static image. It is also noticeably duller and less vivid, and seems to have a bluer tint than the original.
The colour I thought I might be able to make acceptable with a colour temperature app, but a new screen shouldn't have shadowing or screen burn, especially not an OEM one, right?
I suspect the part is a knockoff. It has the LG logo and a similar, but certainly different, crosshatch design on the bezel. I wouldn't mind this though if the screen quality were better.
Am I likely to have these problems with any replacement screen that is not an original? Has anyone bought a replacement screen that is of a similar quality to the original?
looking for a legit site as well, which site did you order yours from?

Good to know...
Cool story.
I have received the LCD replacement and I also installed it by my self.
So far so good
but I compare the new LCD with my friend P9 and I found there is slight difference in color.
but it is good for me.
Good congratulations
I bought an replacement lcd assy from germany.. after cursing with the replacement (mostly with the battery) i powered up the phone and noticed that swiping home screens worked only 1 time in 10..
Checked with the debug tools that touch location works perfectly.. but touch point size shows always zero, and the actual touch point size is displayed in the pressure
Can anything be done with the means of software, or is this gonna be a bad ebay review?
Sigh. What is wrong with these people. TEST BEFORE INSTALL. So you can send it back to warranty without issues and not leave a bad eBay review for a defective screen.
..
yes you have to TEST BEFORE INSTALL
I recommend this replacent so far
I had my screen broken last night, how's the A+++ screen replacements quality compared to factory one (JDI)?, in terms of responsiveness, quality, deep blacks, brightness. color calibration, etc, I'm very upset and worried about this and the fact that I may end up with something not on par in terms of quality...

I bought the LCD the OEM here, work and looks great. Don't know how to tell if it's OEM but everything seems as good as original. I also compared with other P9 and couldn't tell that mine was replaced.
I also bought a OEM battery to fix the suddenly shutting down problem at less than 50% charge, mainly when using camera. Seems fixed.

Hopefully one of you can help me
I currently have two huawei p9, wife's and sister in-laws, my wife is on her second screen already and needs to be replaced again.
The screens I found, cheap ones on eBay (lltrader I think) they don't look too bad at all.
First screen I replaced on my wife's was awful and the glue melted and the glass seperate and cracked within a week.
The second was from the seller I mentioned above, but she is a clumbsy woman.
So for this third one I am looking for for a glass screen protector, the problem is the replacement screens don't have the curved edges. So all the screen protectors for the position are too small or are designed to fit the curved edges...
Do any of you know a phone with very similar dimensions that I could try a screen protector from. I am sick of replacing screens now...

Question regarding LG G8's design - Is this normal?

So I've received two LG G8's now from ebay, the first one I returned because it was in very poor cosmetic condition. The new one I received which while for most part looks brand new, has one similar potential issue that I noticed on the first. Basically, if you look right at the seam where the glass is supposed to be tucking into the metal frame I swear you can see under the screen. It's very noticeable if you max out brightness, hold the phone in your hands horizontally with the screen facing up, and then start tilting it upwards. The only explanation I can think of is that the glass is clear there allowing you to see through the screen somewhat.
It's very possible that the screens were replaced on a lot on these "like new" models people are selling on Ebay. The problem being if the screen isn't properly adhered to the frame I fear the phone will probably no longer be waterproof. Does anyone here by chance have a G8 that was purchased brand new and has hopefully never had the screen replaced? If so, can you see what I'm seeing as well?
