I would wait to install any Android 5 rom on anything. Its VERY Buggie on every Nexus device that has it.. So i would assume atleast wait until 5.1 or above is Release and see how it goes. My Nexus just freezes for no reason. other times it gets so slow its nearly not usable ..Yes its on a STOCK Factory image from google.

Been running this one for about 12 hours:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/development-n7105/rom-10-12-14-cm12-unofficial-data-t2969067/post57403616#post57403616
Using the 12/12 update.
no major trouble, only downside so far are no rear camera, and screen cast doesn't find my Roku, not sure if that's a bug or not.
Missing some of the customary CM personalization, but for an early rom, seems pretty stable.

Weird. I keep hearing that but my Nexus 5 is smooth and fast and totally trouble free. I sideloaded the OTA back in November when it was released and haven't had a lick of trouble at all. I'm also totally stock, not rooted, no custom recovery.

I Think its some kind of sleep or cpu throttle Bug.. I can be using it just say on google plus. All of the sudden the screen will freeze . Sometimes go back to lock screen. Only fix is to push power button on and off to toggle the screen a few times then its ok.. It Does seem to Run apps faster But seems the UI Is a bit slow.. I Thought i had a bad flash so i re- downloaded from GOOGLE And fastboot flashed totally stock same outcome.. It Could be my Device who knows. But i have seen others complain as well. Lately i do not use my nexus 7 much anyway. I have a note 10.1 2012 Version .
Other thing I do not like the new drop down notification thing. The two sided one was MUCH Better. I think the old list type settings menu was better as well. Someone needs to remind google we are not Children or icon yuppies.
Anyway i think my comments here are off topic as this is about the note 2. My note 2 is running stock rooted 4.3. I just see no need for custom rom on it at this time...
Thanks for your Opinion. as said maybe its JUST Me..

Thanks for the tip Was just coming to take a crack at that kernel, then I noticed the new rom by Team UB so I decided to give it a go. It's a decent, well rounded rom, and the rear camera works.
That brings my issues down to one, still can't throw screen to Roku, but I can't blame the developers for that.

I had a feeling that the Rom wasnt gonna work. Everyone who flashed had the same problems I did 2 weeks ago. So far ive gotten a clean install with no errors but not boot. Which means kernel swaps from miui ports won't work. you have to build one.
I am the only one I believe who is actually working on this port. I won't release anything that won't boot, I've made lots of ports with 4 different kernels and they all do the same, which is not booting.
Currently learning to build g2 kernel from source so I can get port goin. If u guys wanna follow me hit me up @brownboyrx.

From what I've seen with Miui, there are several different themes. iPhone theme just happens to be one of them.
There's a lot I like and a lot I don't like about MIUI, but I think MIUI with ADW could be quite nice. I also like dev's that post bootable shiz.

Miui is a ROM built by a group of dedicated Chinese Android developers and was intended to be used in China to show off the Android platform. It was accidently discovered by a user over at the N1 forum some months ago and news of the discovery spreaded like wildfire overnight within the Android community. Since then Miui has been enjoyed and ported to a number of popular Android devices. Miui was ahead of it's time in terms of features, look and funtionality, it was repsonsible for the working of the radio on both the N1 and Desire running stock based vanilla ROM's. It has the best bits of Android and iphone and offers a very unique user experience, on a personal level the UI is intuiative yet beautiful. If you can get past the iphony look then am sure you'll enjoy this ROM if not then using a 3rd party launcher will get rid of most of the iphone look. The ROM is quick and stable and is updated every Friday at 3pm China time.
Check it out on their official website and be sure to use google translate as it's in Chinese;
http://www.miui.com/index.php
English forum;
http://miui-dev.com/
That was a great synopsis above.
The key points of MIUI:
It is Faster
Universal Themes
I still love Cyanogen too. My nexus runs MIUI and G2 Cyan. Good mix.

I started porting today and it boots up. But if I start any app and want to go back to homescreen I get a flickering screen. I have to disable the screen and enable it again. Then it doesn't show the unlock screen, just the statusbar (without clock) and the wallpaper. But if I touch the screen on the unlock position it vibrates. But it doesn't unlock. For unlocking I have to open and close the keyboard. After that the statusbar disapears and doesn't show up anymore until I restart.
http://pastebin.com/cnVFF9WF
Guess the main problem is because of this
Code:
I/WindowManager( 1520): Out of memory for surface! Looking for leaks...
But I don't know what I can do to prevent this.
Kernel is the latest one from CyanogenMod. Many other things work like bluetooth, radio, camera, torch, wlan...
With LPP it works alot better but there are still many bugs like the unlock screen not showing up...
Well thanks very much.

Google has nailed it with 4.2! :D

So after a couple of hours (20+ hours ) i have used stock 4.2 with root. No other modifications.
What I think:
-excellent speed, no lag or slowdowns
-excellent battery life with the new kernel
-the colors of the screen are much better!
-lovely new camera app
Everything is just perfect. What do you guys think of 4.2?

I love it! It's really fast, smooth and stable. Not a single problem in now almost two days. I like new additions, I got used to them right away. But, I've mentioned this before, the new "recent apps" is bothering me. It's really, really bothering me. I like that I can use the recent apps button while in-app to close it, but it stops right there. It's buggy like hell and it makes me feel like I'm on a nightly ROM each time I close an app. And I preferred the transparent look from 4.1. I seriously hope they'll fix it soon. Argh.
But, nevertheless, I love 4.2 - it's amazing.

But yes, I love it too
Well, everything is perfect expect 3 things.
1. lockscreen is a fail... o.o... after i slide to other widget page do something and come back to page where i can unlock my device i have to press a button to get the lockring? O.O also when i resize widgets i gets the lockring to another page and doesnt save the resize wtf really?
2. recent apps is cool, but its laggy. swiping apps is laggy, dont know why? hope we get the fix soon
3. power widgets at notifaction thing is not really widgets. example: if i press wifi toggle, it doesnt turn off or on wifi, it just takes you to wifi settings where you cant turn wifi on or off

of course they updated the kernel! look at the build date! and if nothing changed from the previous kernel, they could have used that one. they used a new one, and there are new changes. look at the 4.2 kernel source and you'll see
Not entirely they fubar'd the internal sdcard. Now everytime you flash a new ROM it will create a new partition in the /sdcard/ titled /0/ and you're f'd if you need a backup because thats in /sdcard/ while you're in /sdcard/0/0 :S

Guys I see many of you have lags and bugs, i suggest to wipe everything before flashing, that's what I did and I have no lag or bugs in recent apps or elsewhere...and I'm usually very picky about lags and framerate drops...really 4.2 is as smooth or better than 4.1.2 here...gmail and recent apps are smoother than ever, facebook feed scrolling is finally totally smooth, and generally 4.2 feels fast and solid, I see some nice tweaked animations here and there...
That being said I expected much more from the google development team, sure WP8 lacks a solid ecosystem, but the os itself has some cool features that I'd like to see on android...like the all in one chat app, or the app-personalized lockscreen...our lockscreen widgets can't even compare to that...seems like android team is out of imagination and is just implementing small and not useful things here and there instead of pushing boundaries

So...basically you want them to push boundaries but manage to release a very stable and solid ROM, sometimes as soon as a few months after the last release (4.0>4.1>4.2 in less than a year)? I somehow have a feeling if they had revolutionized the OS but couldn't manage to smooth out a few bugs, you'd be on here hating them for not releasing a stable ROM. I think maybe you should start deving and realize the time and effort it takes to bring new features with true stability.

[Q] A jelly bean rom that actually works...

i've tried a number of roms in the past few days.. one didnt have camera support, another didnt have google voice search.. spent hours on customizing, resetting, flashing, re-flashing, re-re-flashing...
does anyone have a first-hand experience with a rom that supports ALL device hardware (intl Note II - GT-N7100).
thanks.
This Rom is good and all work perfectly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925402
i was hoping for 4.2.2..
sorry i didnt mention that.
Could you be more specific? Everything works fine on my device.. Camera support - you mean the touchwiz camera? You can't get that on aosp roms. Otherwise they should come with stock camera. Have you flashed the gapps package to get the google voice and other google apps?
switched roms...
i loved the previous one (slimroms.net) but after spending hours on it, i couldn't get the camera to work.
the current one i use (AOKP) works great, other then voice search in Google now.
i've installed the additional package that its supposedly requires but still no go. i can live without voice search (unlike camera) until KLP comes out.. now i just have to figure out why the ability to install APK's went away... it used to work on this rom but something happened. the "install" option is there but its unresponsive.

Do some reading. I don't think you really know what you're doing.
Omega stock based rom will tide you over until you know what you're flashing.
wrong attitude...
so, just because i dont spend my days and nights installing new roms, it means i dont know what i'm doing..?
i dont claim to be an expert, but it seems that battling with hardware issues is something that even long time power users are sometimes having problems with... at least i spent some time researching and experimenting with my device before coming here asking for help.

Depends dude. You got 2 ways to go at it, it's either cyanogen Rom s or stock based Rom. As far as I know the latest cm10.1 all have issues with the camera. So stick with stock based rooms, I would suggest using Alliance Rom 2.0 as I've been using there roms and haven't had any issues. The way I see it there are no bugs, only room for improvements.

Whatever please keep in mind that this builds are labled for a reason as beta builds. As a lot slim user know we only tag our builds stable when they are already 100% stable and all features are back. But you will be surprised how stable it is already

Indivudal apps need to be tweaks to run on KitKat. If you have a favorite app that doesn't work, check with the developer of that app first to see if it runs on 4.4 before asking why it doesn't work here. (If it was last updated in February of 2012 or something like that, it hasn't been tweaked for KitKat.). In short, it's probably not the rom's fault.
As of December 8th Blk_Jack is back on XDA with a new thread for Slim Kat!
That is a development thread. Keep your posts there development related. That does not mean "How come my phone no boot?" or "Thx for this ROM iz smooth like butta!". That means specific issues tht haven't been reported 900 times previously. Search that thread for a similar post to yours BEFORE posting!!!
Reporting Bugs:
The Slim Team has a very specific way they ask that bugs be reported. You can do it right through the bug report feature of the ROM. But do it this way...(This is right from the Slim site. It is the best way to make errors known to the Slim developers)
When you submit a bug you want to make sure that nothing from your side is causing it. Otherwise your developer might be hunting a bug which doesn't really exist. The best way to achieve this is by doing the following.
1. Make a nandroid backup.
2. Perform a full wipe (factory reset + wipe /system)
Now we have two different ways, 3A and 3B, depending on what kind of problem you're having.
3A. When you're having a problem with a ROM function, flash just the ROM without GAPPS etc. and boot back into the system. You will boot directly onto the homescreen.
3B. When you're having a problem with a 3rd party app in combination with our ROM then flash the ROM and GAPPS.
Boot now back into the system. You will boot to the setup wizard.
Log in to your Google account but make sure that you untick "Restore from my Google Account to this phone/tablet".
Finish the setup and open the playstore and download only the app you're having problems with.
Now when you're done with either 3A or 3B proceed with the following:
4. Now reproduce the bug (if possible more than once). After you reproduced the bug go into settings and SlimCenter and click on Bugreport. A bugreport.zip will appear on your sdcard in a directory called Slim.
5. Attach this zip in the correct thread along with your report. Please also write detailed description how we can reproduce the bug.
6. Restore your backup from point 1 and wait for a fix (don't ask for ETAs).

I know the device maintainers have been testing the S4 builds for a couple of weeks now and making improvements among their team. So you're not getting an early Alpha release here or anything.
The maintainer for the international S4 is very active in the i9505 forums and has been talking about SlimKat for a while, saying how stable it already is. That's pretty standard for the Slim team. They do not putz around with releasing buggy builds.
That said I'm sure it's not perfect yet. SlimKat isn't going to be 100% error free just yet and isn't going to help you create sustainable cold fusion or anything like that (yet...). So be prepared for a little wonkiness early on. But if history is any indicator, you can probabyl expect a really nice experience from from teh start.
Running good so far!! Missing some things from SlimBean that I really liked but being in beta they will eventually come. Will be my DD assuming I don't have any issues.

What do you see is missing so far? (I haven't even flashed it yet. I won't have the time for another 5 hours until I get home from work and put my daughter to bed. But I'm drooling with anticipation!)

The main things are all the status bar tweaks (hiding battery and signal bars), no theme engine, quick settings are missing a few things, widgets on the lock screen. All I can think of right now.
Still a very solid rom though. Currently will be my DD.

You can enable the widgets for your lock screen. Only bug I'm confronting is that NFC doesn't turn off some times. I have to click it a couple times through the quick toggles. Besides that, I get FC's with gapps but that's been mentioned before.

No theme engine? What are we?
ANIMALS!? What's next, do we have to eat our young?!
I kid! I kid! I understand it's a beta. I'm just messing around. It is funny though, I've gotten so used to my orange themed Androids that its a shocking concept to think I might have to use the standard blue for a week! The horrors! (Again, I'm kidding. If anyone takes this seriously relax)
I do look at people who love TouchWiz and I can't figure out how they put up with not being able to change the colors. This is like the single greatest feature in AOSP ROMs to me, even more than all the actually important tweaks that make AOSP run so well.

There is already an update!
It's called Beta 1.1 Weekly and there is no changelog included with it so I imagine it's just some upstream updates and tweaks since yesterday and not a lot of major improvements. But an update is an update!

So far the beta builds give me trouble booting. I get hung on the splash screen a lot. It akes a bunch of chances to get it to boot. It always eventually works though.
Here's a list of what I've found is missing so far...
Transparent status bar
Dark Slim
Theme Engine
DPI changing in settings (Can probably still do it in build.prop)
List scroll animations
Probably more...
But it's all superficial stuff like this. The 'under the hood' type stuff all seems to work well.

Yes. Search Google for "FML Galaxy Nexus". There is an XDA Thread with the ROM on it, detailing the issues. Off the top of my head, the issues are camera and others. It's still pretty stable though for such an early build
I have to tell you I used the one that adamgraver is talking about and I loved it! I moved back to kit kat for stability reasons but I really loved it!

What do you mean "for stability reasons"? I consider trying out the lollipop ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/development/rom-fml-fork-life-06-05-2014-v2-t2764064
Known issues are :
- Stock Camera app isn't working yet. Aftermarket ones, such as Camera ZOOM FX, might work however.
I don't care much about the stock camera app. But I am wondering how things go with calls, SMS, MMS, mobile data etc... i.e. usability.
The treads says: "These builds are very early! They aren't daily-driver-stable, but they are progressing extremely fast. They don't include the usual FML optimizations either, but they are surprisingly snappy already..." which to me is a little confusing... If I would like to use it as a daily-driver, what are the concessions to be made?
Thanks a lot in advance for your input.
Best,
-a-
It became really slow really quickly had major crash issues as well. It couldnt play youtube, bluetooth and wifi had issues. It would just lock up a lot no matter how many resets I did. An update is going to be really soon so keep your eyes open for it, I cant wait!
Lollipop is in my opinion officially stable now if you use osmosis and neph's kernel and settings. Go check em out!
