[Q] High temperature - phone switch off - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
is's possible switch off this feature (High temperature - phone switch off)? Or set value to higher temperature? LG G3 D855 (Andoid 5.0 official)
Petr

There is a mod which changes the values of when the phone thermal throttles to like 80C but not sure i recommend using this if your phone is getting that hot that it turns off are you sure there isnt a hardware defect or i reason its getting so hot

Last week I was in Dubai, the phone switch off 10 times per day stock 60C is joke from LG.
It's possible use with android 5.0 stock rom?

How hot does your S3 get?

When I'm on mobile data with GPS running, I noticed the bottom of half of my S3 getting pretty damn warm. Is this normal?
Just started using mine I'm feeling the same heat

No heat here.. downloaded a 840mb file over 3g for A span of like 3 or 4 hours and didn't get any heat at all

Are you guys all running stock kernel and ROM or custom? I'm on stock.
Ha! Try hours with GPS, Bluetooth music and Tethering on... the heat seems to really hit while I'm charging and doing all that. Fact! I can't touch the ass end of the phone. It probably gets about 8 hours a week like that. Still working perfectly. Samsung tells me it's normal. It also has a lot of factors for me too. I use a 1 amp charger. After 96% it's not so bad. At night when brightness is down. Not as hot. I tried to get it to mess up but couldn't. GPS, Bluetooth, tethering, charging from 30% and 100% display, and I pushed out to a low coverage area. Didn't miss a beat or melt. Lol.

Navigation makes phones really hot, but with normal usage it should stay within 30-36°C.
I like this phone's heat management more than my old phone. My Evo 3d would get hot from 10 min usage.
On this, my screen has been on for 2 hours straight and I'm running at a cool 35.1 °C.

When I was running CM10 for a day or two I thought my phone would melt but it was also 90+ degrees outside so it was hard to tell. My phone gets a little warm, but nothing too worrying.

This is to be expected. It is pretty high clock rate too but seriously a huge improvement from the gs2

It actually shouldn't be expected. The Snapdragon S3's also ran at 1.5ghz and was pleasantly cool and the Exynos on the Galaxy Note was at 1.4ghz. Both are less power efficient and should run hotter than the S4. I've used the Evo LTE for a while with the same S4 and it barely got warm on a hot day. The issue is with the second core being weird. For those that hasn't already, make sure you flash Freeza's fix, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790061 . This fix made my phone cool and got rid of my quickly draining battery life.
Most of the time my phone will stay within "normal" (to me) range, but when I game heavily... it turns into an oven range! I've gotten so paranoid a few times, I took the battery out and let it cooled for 5-10min
Im having the same problem....it isnt the software thats causing this its the hardware
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I hope you guys will repsond to this... What do you consider to be "normal" temperature for your phone to reach? Is 35 degrees realy normal? Ive heard people with s3 talk of theirs only reaching temperatures of 29 degrees max.
Thanks.

Note 2 idle temperature 90 degrees Fahrenheit?

I just got a replacement phone from t mobile and it seems to have a heating issue. My other note didn't get this warm while idleing. This screenshot shows Idle temperature of my note 2. No apps running in the background, can you guys report your idle temp, so I can get a significant temperature average.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid . But I do know it definitely runs hotter than my other device. and it is very annoying to have a device this hot while hardly doing anything on it. I wouldn't consider it overheating by any means but it is still definitely notably
Hotter than it should be. so I'm just going to send it back to T Mobile and request a new one.

Man that's perfectly within specs. Start worrying when is 90 degrees CELCIUS 90 degrees f is less than body temperature. You are worrying about nothing. The processor doesn't even start getting problems until like 75c and above,,... What do you expect your phones operating temperature to be 50 degrees f! Walk around with and Ice pack in your pocket. Plus when the device gets hot enough it shuts down anyways. You cant possibly burn that phone without putting a flame to it.
See that temperature normal.
Is this s troll post, be honest.

My note ll was getting really hot on idle when temperature was around 80f here in Chicago. I have no idea why but now seems to be normal.

Is this normal ?

Mine does the sane thing
Same here. It gets hot during the first half of the charge and then cools down for the last half. I'm pretty sure it's normal. The temperature needs to be higher than that to be harmful to the battery.

I had that problem too if you're rooted. If not root using purpledrake lite or stumproot and delete the MLT apk and odex. Its a logging app that runs constantly and eats up a crap ton of cpu cycles which causes the cpu to heat up and throttle. LGs throttling is atrocious the cpu throttles around 50C when the 801 soc throttles around 90C. I did this and the lags are minimized. Hope this helps

How hot is too hot.

Guys how hot is too hot for CPU on this phone? Sometimes my screen gets hot that making a call is uncomfortable. Temp monitor is show 50 right now but it can go as high as 65 just surfing the web and today it was in the 70s while I was skyping. No oc, running unofficial cm12.

Instead of making irrelevant speculations as to how you use your device and completely disregarding your actual question, I'll at least attempt to be somewhat helpful...
I'm not 100% certain on the safe operating temperatures, but I can say personally the highest my device can normally go without suffering loss of performance would be right in the neighborhood of 50. I can play fairly simple games like Plague Inc, Hill Climb Racing, and one or two others and my device doesn't get that hot unless I'm charging while I play. I'm also oc'd to 1988mhz. Once I begin noticing a drop in performance I let it cool before continuing usage. ~50C I would say should be fairly safe, albeit I wouldn't want to keep a constant temperature that high; but 60-70 is really starting to push it.
Do you happen to notice the device getting that hot on other ROMs? If pre-CM12 ROMs don't get as hot or you're not certain, try going back until some of the kinks get worked out.

Why does the fact that he's got a different battery than stock mean that he's going to overheat? Are aftermarket batteries supposed to operate at a higher temperature? None I ever used did except possibly when charging, and even then it was only marginally warmer.
The ROM I could see simply because CM12 hadn't had the gremlins worked out yet... but the battery? Only speculating about the cause with no information to back it up, troubleshooting tips, or possible remedies doesn't help anything aside from your post count.
A buggy CM12 will do it. But the battery will aggregate the issue with all that extra power to cook things up.
