[Q] Carrier Variants (Freq/Bands) - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking into picking up a G3, and I'd like to use it on GSM networks in the US. T-Mobile, maybe AT&T at some point. I'm unfamiliar with G3 hardware, so I'm wondering if either the T-Mobile or AT&T variant have more compatibility than the other, so I know which one is generally preferred to get.
Thanks!

Nobody?

Get D855. It is international. It will work with GSM network.

AT&T G3 on Verizon Network?

OK, I have been playing with this for over a week, searched and tweaked, searched and tweaked and....... :crying:
SO, can you use an LG G3 (D850) (AT&T Variant) on Verizon's network?????
This isnt my first time flashing/rooting phones etc, but for some reason I just cant get this to connect to Verizon's net.
I have an LG G3 D850, with Cloud ROM, the Verizon Data net settings are set correctly, BUT when I scan for networks I am only able to see ATT's networks (Along with US Cell, BTW, and some others, with a combination of LTE, GSM, WCDMA, but no Verizon).
My HTC 1 from Verizon sitting right next to the new G3 has Verizon 4G LTE connection and no issues.
Am I doing something wrong or is it a limitation on the hardware or.................
Thanks for any help
Can't be done. 2 different sets of tech for the carriers. Verizon uses cdma and att is gsm. Not compatible. I looked into the same thing a few weeks ago.

Sprint Vs T-mobile

Hey Everyone!
Quick question for you, i just switched to Sprint from T-Mobile and i got the HTC One M8 and i had the same phone from T-Mobile. Is there any Difference between the two cause i noticed on the sprint version that it says Model # 831 amd T-mobiles doesnt say model. Was just curious if there is anything different i donbt there is though
Different hardware, the T-Mobile version does not have the hardware required to work on Sprint's CDMA network.
The Sprint and Verizon versions of the M8 are CDMA, and are the oddballs. All "GSM" versions of the M8 are essentially the same in hardware, and just have different band support determined in software. Exception being the obvious cosmetic differences such as available colors, and some carrier logos on the back of the phone. Other exception being the dual SIM GSM variant.

Unlocked T-Mobile G3 on Verizon?

Hey guys,
I couldn't find a thread here on XDA in regards to this, but I am wondering if my T-Mobile LG G3 that has been unlocked by T-Mobile will work on Verizon....at all? This is not a personal choice, but more like I keep being asked by many in regards to my ad on Craigslist if the phone will work. I have done some research on this and found that the G3's LTE antenna can utilize a few select bands of Verizon's LTE, so data and MMS are my last worry. My main concern is voice and texting. COnsidering those are separate antennae, what should I know in order to inform possible buyers? I obviously do not want to be falsifying information in any way (literally against my morals; I was screwed over twice with smartphones and CL).
Again, what should I know. I seem to be finding myself using gsmarena.com to compare the Verizon G3 and T-Mobile G3 LTE band support.
Any help will amazing so I can get this phone sold! Thanks all!! :good:
According to willmyphonework the LTE will work fine but if they ever go anywhere without LTE, they will not have service at all. The CDMA part of verizon isn't compatible with the GSM edge capabilities of the T-Mobile g3.

Anyone in USA using a G4 with VoLTE in 2021?!

If so, what variant and what carrier?
I'm currently with Tracfone, who supposedly uses all the major US carriers (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-mobile). I have one of their AT&T network-compatible SIM cards but according to AT&T's list of post-3g shutdown compatible phones ( https://www.att.com/idpassets/images/support/wireless/Devices-Working-on-ATT-Network.pdf ) , only the G4 H810 will work.
I'd really prefer to use the 815 over the 810 (I have both, worried about the bootloop on 810; the 815 has a higher serial # mobo which I'm hoping means less bootloop likelihood ... knock wood). My theory is that if the H815 is compatible with any of the other carriers, that I could get the corresponding compatible SIM from Tracfone for it. But I haven't been able to find a similarly definitive list for any of the other carriers. So I'm wondering what anyone else is doing?

LG G710EAW on T-Mobile. Crossflash?

Hello all!
I have an LG G7 from India, model G710EAW. I moved to the US from Canada and the phone isn't entertaining T-Mobile or ATT SIM cards. When I insert them, service works for a little bit and then immediately switches to "Emergency calls only". T-Mobile's website says my phone IMEI is compatible with its service.
The strange thing is that the phone has two SIMs from Canada roaming - one on the T-Mobile network and another on ATT. No issues whatsoever. And when I check the bands in Engineering Mode, I can see one roaming SIM running on LTE Band-4 on T-Mobile. The other roaming SIM is switching between LTE Band-2 and LTE Band-5 on ATT.
T-Mobile uses bands 2,4,5 mainly, and ATT uses 2,4,5 among other bands. This leads me to believe it's some kind of a network restriction preventing my phone from latching onto these networks directly.
I've made tons of calls to T-Mobile and ATT so I'm no longer interested in pursuing them with this.
I'm wondering if cross-flashing a different firmware might help fix this issue. I remember reading on this subreddit that the Google FI firmware may work for T-Mobile bands. I'm not sure I understood that correctly.
Can someone confirm if that's possible? Does this make sense? I'm hesitant to buy a new replacement phone when my G7 works so well.
Thanks!
