Hi
Just bought a cheap-o monopod, which includes a remote control built in. Yay! Now I just need some fisheye lens to have a fragile GoPro wannabe.
But the remote doesn't work on the stock camera. It does work on some third party camera apps and flawlessly on iOS/Sammy cameras.
The remote control works like a "keyboard". The zoom in types "=", zoom out types "-" and the button to capture the picture is enter.
I just need a way to make the camera accept those "keystrokes". Is there any way?

Workaround is to use Xdabbeb camera. It works

...sucks compared to the old one. Unless I'm missing something, the new one doesn't allow you to zoom with the trackball. The touch focusing is fine but it would have been nice to see that in addition to how the old focus worked (hold down trackball, it focuses then snaps pic). I don't know what prompted this change but I find the camera a bit cumbersome to use now compared to the old camera app. What you guys think?
Just slide on the screen to zoom...
P
You can also set it to focus like the old camera version.
The new app works much better for me. Pics can be taken faster and are better!
the galaxy s1 had an amazing camera, it had lots of options, and was even altered so it could be loaded below 15% battery, during music being played, and a hardware shutter button added in. totally amazing.
butttt, the galaxy s2 on the other hand.. samsung added a picture and video editor app on this phone, how lovely right? WRONGGGG ALSKFDSFJLSD =[, they removed the cameras build in ability to select these options, so that you REQUIRE these photo and video editors just to be able to do what you could do directly from the camera before..
in the Video camera, you could pause and resume the video, making a nice group of memories all in one video. now that the video editor was added, this camera option was removed, so that you will have to edit together groups of videos, just to do what you were able to do before.
in the Picture camera, you were able to change the lighting and coloring of the picture, so many times id adjust the saturation, and take a sunset picture, now that the picture editor was added, you can no longer adjust these, you have to go back and edit over every single picture.. ugh
i love to ride my bike or rollerblade, or jog, or drive around, i love being outdoors, and i love listening to my music, but whenever i want to take a picture of some great sight, my music has to stop.. i take tons of pictures every day, why must it always force my music to stop..
while id love to see the galaxy s1 camera brought over to the s2, finding a replacement camera seems more likely.. does anyone know of a 3rd party camera app that is actually decent? ive never found a camera app that did any justice..
would loveeee to see any suggestions of 3rd party camera app, does anyone have one?
I use HDR+ which I find to be an amazing camera app for quality.
HDR Camera+
awesome, im going to check it out right now, thanks a ton my good sir
Also check out LGCamera and Camera 360 (both links to free versions - I use the Camera 360 Pro app)
Thanks for the HDR tip, btw. I'll go explore
i was looking for a camera app too... camera 360 is nice
i second hdr+. its simply fantastic...as for the gs1 camera..i thought it was average at best, and thats being kind. the video editor, imo, was total toss...usually fc'd when editing 720p vids and took too long to do anything..gs2 is much better..

Unfortunately only a few apps support the FFC. I suggest MagicHour and Pudding Camera when they get the aspect ratio fixed
It's in korean but its easy to navigate
i used to use camera zoom fx but it doesn't utilize the front camera right it makes it dark as hell
what camera apps do you use or do you use stock?
I've been using Snap Camera HDR, mostly because I got used to it on my n7100, and that seems to work rather well.
I use Focal, comes with CM. But there is an apk floating around out there
I use a few of them Camera FV-5,Camera 2,UCam and Snap Camera. All work pretty well.
cymera: a good free program that lets you photo shop and take photos
a bunch more but the only con is that it has a slow shutter rate
Greetings, Xperia M, Build 15.1.C.2.8, Half-rooted (unable to do the full root, I don't know why so I can't do the RW thing)
Like most of you have probably noticed, the stock camera firmware has a bluish tint problem. The camera works great in the daytime, really good actually. But doing some camera app testing in a darkened atmosphere I took some pics in my bedroom with the flash, and the pics look really BLUE. My walls aren't blue, they are yellow haha. After testing with other android camera apps such as ProCapture, the pics look as they should (no blue walls). So it's obvious that it is the stock sony camera firmware that is at fault since other camera apps make the pics look normal.
So saying this I went ahead and froze (disabled) the stock camera app so I could launch ProCapture with the hardware shutter button. But now I have no video recording app ugh. So two-fold question please:
1) Is there a way to make our hardware shutter button open up a different camera app such as ProCapture? If so, how please? (Like mentioned above I was only able to half-root it, the full root instructions just haven't worked for me no matter how many times I tried)
2) If not, and I do have to disable the stock camera app so I can launch ProCapture with the hardware button, can you recommend me what video recording app I can install that can takeover just video recording duties? I think it would need to be for video recording only otherwise I may run into problems with the hardware shutter button again. It has been remarkably hard to find a video recording app on the app store! I have no idea why this is.
Thanks much for your help. BTW, I like the phone. For the price, I think it's really good. And more importantly, the size and shape fits me perfectly :fingers-crossed:
For your 1st question.... I'm not really sure on the x m but when I was still using an mtk phone I was able to change the camera button to open any app I want in android.policy.jar or was it framework.jar (cant recall).. Cant remember which smali it was but I stumbled on it via search for text using notepad++ ... I searched for com.android.gallery in our Xperia case you should search for semc.android.camera (not sure if thats the correct package name for the stock camera app) and change it with the package name of the camera app or whatevar app you want the camera button to launch

try this lg camera : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677645
Thanks for the replies. As far as LGCamera goes, it seems to not have been updated in almost two years so I left that one alone. Did find an app called "A Better Camera" which also has video recording in it. So I disabled the stock camera and have just been using A Better Camera and it also launches from the hardware button. Better pics too in the dark with the flash. At least my yellow walls aren't blue
Edit: Okay, I have found a way to be able to launch a third party camera from the hardware button WITHOUT freezing (totally disabling) the stock camera app. This then will allow you to use a third-party camera app such as ProCapture etc (that don't have a built in video recorder), allow you to switch between the third-party app and the stock video recorder, but then also launch the third-party app using the hardware shutter button. In other words, the best of all solutions.
You need to at least half-root the Xperia-M (many threads found here how to do that) then get the AutoStarts app from the play store: (not allowed to post links yet). Just search AutoStarts from Michael Elsdörfer
Once you start AutoStarts, scroll down and find "Camera Button Pressed". Select Disable for all the cameras EXCEPT the one you want to use the hardware button for. You're done now. All the camera apps that you selected disable for will still work when using their icons, the one you didn't disable will be the one that starts with the hardware shutter button.
Note: I also tried the app "Default App Manager Pro" and set ProCapture as the default camera. But that didn't do anything, no effect on the hardware shutter button (still opened the stock camera). So far the AutoStarts method is the only one that has worked for me.
Looking to replace the stock camera app (even though I love it) because I have a hard time with stock LCD density and when I shrink the lcd density on this phone it breaks the stock camera app. So is there any 3rd party apps that maintain some of the samsung features? I don't necessarily need crazy DSLR features, just want to maintain the slow moiton, fast motion, panarama, gif video, dual capture etc.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
