[Q] Issues with SD card and music - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
Hoping someone can help me with an issue I am having regarding loading music onto my SD card in my unrooted HTC incredible s.
I have recently been trying to put my music collection onto a 64gb SD (recognized by my device), I use in my incredible. I load the collection on (around 40 Gb) through windows drag and drop and then place into the phone. However the phone will only seem to pick up around 6.80Gb of music when i start it up. Additionally i find when i put the card back into the computer most of the music has been deleted and ends up in the LOST.DIR on the sd card.
I have tried only putting on around 10gb with the same results, i have also tried loading it through HTC sync with no result.
I have also tried th with a 16bg card and the same thing occurs.
Is there a way around this or will the device only recognize a certain amount of music? Is there to much there for the device, or is it some issue with the capabilities of the SD card?
The SD card is exFAT formatted.
Cheers,
Felix

[Q] Problem with new SD card

I bought and installed a new 16gb sd card, but for some reason in htc sync it's only showing up as ~8gb (and consequently that I only have 1.7gb free.)
When i look in the phone itself it's showed as having 13 gigs free!
To install it:
I copied everything off of the old card onto my computer
put in the new card
copied the stuff from my computer to my phone.
Anyone have any ideas? I'd like to get this working so i can put a bunch of music on my evo (using itunes sync).
Thanks for your help!

[Q] SD Card read issues in programs

My SD card started acting up lately. I do not know what could have caused it but it seems to just be running incredibly slow for read speeds. When I turn on my phone it does say mounting storage card or whatever at the top and it mounts and I can see it in root explorer as well as all of my documents on the card, my beautiful widgets homescreen skin loads without problems and I can take pictures that save to my sd card. However, almost no program that uses the SD card can read from it succesfully. The gallery shows no pictures and simply says loading, even though I have multiple pictures on there and just took some with the camera app. The music program claims I have no music even though I have thousands of songs. My scorecenter app does not remember any of my favorite teams that are stored on the SD card.
I am on CM7 nightly build 23 right now, but this problem began a few days ago when I was on MIUI 3.05. I have a 16gb class 2 card that was working fine a few weeks ago, and I flashed CM7 thinking it might be my MIUI rom but the problem persists. I can still boot into recovery, see my SD card and load custom roms from it.
I attempted formatting the SD card through android (clear storage in storage settings) but the problem persists.
Is my SD card dying?
edit: write speeds are terribly slow as well. a 200mb file transferring right now looks like it will take about 30 minutes to complete. That's definitely not usual. Do you think this would be my sd card, or my phone? I'll have to try the card out in another phone or sd card reader. in the meantime any suggestions would still be appreciated

[Q] SD Card issue!

Hey everyone,
I have a stock non-rooted Sprint version Galaxy S3 with Jellybean. I installed a 32 GB SD Card and it worked fine for the longest time. Today I realized that when I take pictures it will not save to the SD Card. The card is recognized by the phone, it reports the correct size, and I can see the contents but I cannot write to the card any longer.
I unmounted the card, uninstalled and reinstalled the card, and restarted the phone, but no matter what I do I can't save anything to it. I downloaded an SD card testing app and it said I didn't have permission to write to the card. Has anyone heard of this issue before? I am going to try to use the Kies Air app to move all of the contents of the card to my PC and reformat it to see if that helps. Thanks to anyone who might know what's going on.

Have you tried already manually adding stuff to the card via transfering files from Internal to ExtSDCard?
Have you set up your camera settings to save picture / recordings to external SD card or
try testing to create new file / folders within the card?

I know I'm pretty much screwed, but I'd figured I'd ask.....

Today, my 32GB SD card on my phone died today... so that means I have lost everything I had.. all my apps, backups, songs, saves on emulators, etc..
The SD card had to be broken and thrown in the trash, as it was not format-capable and was reading Blank SD Card constantly and my PC would not read it.
My only question now is, and it's a stretch but, ...if I get a new SD card, will I be able to SAVE ANY of what is on my phone now without an SD? My phone at current still shows icons from my SD card but tapping them leaves the App Not Installed, message.
Is it possible there's anything backed up the phone to actually TRANSFER sometime of the stuff on a new SD?

im sad to say that if the application was moved to the sd card it's near impossible to recover that specially if the sd card has been trown away, what you see are the icon traces which are saved in the system however the actual apk and other components on saved on the sd card can not be restored.
As far as I know, you guys are correct, the only way to find it would be in the /android-secure folder on the sd card.

[Q] 128GB Micro SD issues between G3 and computer

Hi, so I was pretty convinced something is wrong with the phone, but now I am not sure. Figured I'd start here.
I just bought a T-Mobile LG G3:
Build: KVT49L.D85110r
Android: 4.4.2
Model: LG-D851
Windows 8.1 on computer
I bought a generic 128GB SD card off eBay to put like 90GB of music (MP3, WMA, FLAC) since the phone supposedly takes up to 128GB of external memory. With other Android phones, I'd put the card in the phone, let the phone format it, then put the card in the computer to transfer the files, then put it back in the phone with no problems. When I started having issues with the first 128GB card, I thought it was bad so I bought another one, this time a name brand. Still having the same issues.
These are the issues and the various things I have tried:
1) Put card in phone, format, unmount, put card in computer, see it is exFAT, start copying music, hours later a message says the card is corrupted.
2) Put card in phone, format, unmount, put card in computer, computer doesn't recognize format and wants to reformat it, have tried formatting as both exFAT and NTFS (quick and slow), put music files on it, put card in phone, phone says it is empty or is a format it doesn't recognize, wants to format.
3) Format card on computer first, move to phone, phone recognizes it, take it back out, start putting files on it, hours later completes, put back in phone, phone says it is a format it doesn't recognize or it says it is empty, put back in the computer, and it is corrupted.
4) Put card in phone, format, mount, connect USB to computer, computer see the SD card in the phone, start moving files that way, eventually stops because it becomes corrupted somehow.
5) Same as the previous one, but play music as it is being uploaded to make sure files are moving over and card isn't corrupted, plays music as they move over, then eventually becomes corrupted and the player can't find any music on the card.
I am sure there are variations I didn't mentioned, but I have tried just about every configuration. I suppose it is possible both 128GB cards I bought are bad, but seems unlikely. Also, I have a 32GB generic card (FAT32) with music on it that runs fine between computer and phone. Not sure where to go from here other than return the phone (certified pre-owned)... which also restarts itself randomly sometimes.
Thanks for the help!
