[HINT] Wi-fi Hotspot (Wifi AP) button on lidroid 14 statusbar toggles - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 General

Hi all,
this is been published already as post #293 on this thread [GUIDE]How to add lidroid 14 statusbar toggle buttons for Galaxy Y but I thought it should deserve its own thread as for its quite unique contents.
Wi-fi Hotspot is a very useful feature especially for those who have to travel often and want to share the smartphone Internet connection with their laptop.
That's also my case and as I was using this feature many times a day on-off I installed an app (Tethering Widget) that provides a widget button that conveniently toggle the Wi-fi Hotspot just by a single tap instead of having to navigate through the system settings to reach each time the related option.
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",

}
Beside that the widget worked properly I wasn't happy of the way it looked within the small Galaxy Y screen... like a big black spot
Though I managed to restyle the widget making it less big and and giving a sort of "aqua" look...
... my wish was to have, for the Wi-fi hotspot, a status bar toggle same as it is for the Wi-fi.
I then found the guide to install the Lildroid 14 statusbar toggle buttons that I successfully followed, but unfortunately no Wi-fi AP button there
But I wondered if there was a way to add the Wi-fi AP button to the Lildroid toggles because I've found other Lildroid version ([MOD] SYSTEMUI [Touchwiz Style] [25 lidroid toggles]) that has the Wi-fi AP toggle, but comes with the two tabs layout which requires to switch between notification and toggles and I don't like that.
So I tried myself to add the Wi-fi AP to the Lildroid 14 toggles and here below I explain what I did.
The SystemUI.apk is been deodexed (with xUltimate-v2.3.3) and decompiled (with Apktool) then the StatusBarService.smali file edited as described here:
[GUIDE]How to add lidroid 14 statusbar toggle buttons for Galaxy Y
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511307
Note:The androidmanfest.xml is not been edited (so a Force Close will be triggered when pressing Flashlight button)
Then got the apk files from here:
[MOD] SYSTEMUI [Touchwiz Style] [25 lidroid toggles]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775728
Decompiled and replaced airplaneButton.smali in the working SystemUI folder with the wifiap*.smali from the apk modded by rio, doing all the required substitutions to make consistent the calls and the data in the smali code (see the attached file ModdedFiles.zip for comparison between the original and the modified smali files).
- Recompiled
- Replaced the classes.dex in the original deodexed SystemUI.apk with the new recompiled classes.dex
- copied the SystemUI.apk with updated classes.dex to the smartphone SDcard via BlueTooth (I don't have JDK installed on my PC system),
- Used Root Explorer app on the phone to do all the following steps:
- moved SystemUI.apk to /data folder so that was possible to set permission to 644 and owner.group to root.root
- deleted SystemUI.odex in /system/app
- brute force replaced the running SystemUI.apk in /system/app folder with the new version with WifiAP toggle (that will trigger a Force Close of the Status bar application)
- Reboot the phone and enjoy the Airplane button that toggle the Wifi Hot Spot service
I made my own installer via CWM recovery (manually MOUNT SYSTEM before installing the zip!)... much better than a rude replacement of the SystemUI.apk while in use.
As I did few other small modifications as the following:
- Brightness toggle: removed the Auto brightness mode, as Galaxy Y doesn't have light sensor, and increased the Dim brightness (for more info see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55598522&postcount=295)
- little "fix" to the status bar silent mode icon (added a missing pixel)
- better toggle buttons background (actually a nicely smooth gradient of the original)
- replaced the Airplane mode toggle icon with a proper icon for the WifiAP toggle
- replaced the Airplane string with WiFi Hotspot in the QuickPanel Settings "Widget buttons" chooser
then in my SystemUI_WiFiAP_CWM_installer.zip I included all the three required apk (that have been zipaligned), not just the SystemUI.apk
ALL THE CREDITS GOES TO THE AUTHORS OF THE ORIGINAL APKs
DISCLAIMER:
This is been a "mod" I did starting from scratch (zero knowledge about deodexing, decompiling, and smali code) in about 30 hours of study, Internet searches, and many trial&errors attempts (though I have some basic programming knowledge).
I made my modded SystemUI.apk available here as attachment to this post (that I'm using already for more than two months), but if you will decide to try it PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT IT MIGHT BE BUGGY, there might be some error in the modded code that I'm not aware of and that might eventually affect the smartphone in which it will be installed.
Therefore I DO NOT TAKE RESPONSABILITY for anything that might happen after the modded SystemUI.apk is installed on any smartphone.
Zip for restore stock SystemUI
I made my CWM recovery Zip and I just share it here as attached file Restore_Stock_SystemUI.zip
It copies in system/app folder the original stock SystemUI.apk along with its odex file and delete QuickPanelSettings.apk and lidroid-res.apk.
System partition MUST BE MANUALLY MOUNTED before to start the zip installation (I been too lazy to insert the mount command in the updater-script )
SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex are from Galaxy Y stock ROM - Android 2.3.6 build GINGERBREAD.DXMJ1

[THEME] [JVU/JVZ/JW1 ODEX] IceCreamS V1.3 [22Dec2011]

Hello,
After a few weeks working on this I decided to release a first version of the theme to everyone enjoy the fantastic look of new Android version.
Changes:
- Framework;
- Notification bar;
- Messages;
- Phone;
- Keyboard;
- Fonts;
To keep your phone with the look of the screenshots you need to use some applications available on the market.
I recommend using GO Launcher and ICS theme for it. For those who do not like the theme of this launcher also works for other launchers. The theme of the Launcher is very important because it personalizes the most used part of our mobile phone.
For those who want the ICS search widget, I recommend using the application Tiwiz ICS Search Bar.
Instructions:
-Copy to internal sdcard and install using ClockworkMod.
-To watch the status bar as in the screenshots is necessary use the EDT Tweaks:
-Open the app;
--Go to Clock Options;
--Go to Chose Clock Color and put the color as it is in the image below:

If I use only the dialer tab should I keep the original dialertabactivity.odex file ?

Yes, you don't need to change nothing on .odex file!
OK, thanks. One more question - can I use all the apks from your theme on JVT or JVZ?

I don't test it on JVT but probability works fine. In JVZ I am making a update compatible to this version.
Thanks
Ok, thanks again. I'm on JVZ now, so I'll be waiting for your update.
Does the keyboard vibrates?
Why arent the .odex files included?
and in
SystemUI.apk
MusicPlayer.apk
Mms.apk
DialerTabActivity.apk
theres no META-INF folder??
Does this even work?
Their are two meta-inf with two folders each indside it.
Is this a joke??
Waiting for JVZ Odex / Deodex versions.
Great theme, thanks.
EDIT: Can you make the clock in status bar blue? So all the icons in status bar be ics blue??

You're right, it's weird because I just changed the resources. I'll try to see what happens.

Yes, it's strange but it works I'll try to see what happened.
The .odex files I still can't do that. The theme works in Odex ROMs but isn 't in Odex.

Amazing theme! Can't wait to try it out! Great work man.
I just tried it. Everything works but the systemui, so I get force close on the status bar. Anyway, all I actually wanted was the dialer tab and the lockscreen, so I just used them.

Applied JVZ 1.1 odex on oSerX.JVZ.DVLP rom.
after rebooted, systemui force close and lost the notification bar.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Well, I just used different systemUI in the archive coz I keep my status bar hidden most of the time and I don't really care about its color or battery percentage. I guess the dev should look into it and resolve it.
Deodex JVZ version?
SystemUI force closes on my phone two. Running latest Simplicity ROM. Is it possible to copy and use the SystemUI from this ROM , even it's deodexed?

Original Theme Project Xperia Ion
Original Theme Project is all about themeing Sony's firmware to the better look.
I have been working on Xperia S, Ion, bit on GX and low end devices like P etc. I myself own an Xperia S. I am not able to test all mods for the Ion, so make a backup!
Guide to install is on 2nd post!Needed: Root and some knowledge about adb.
As always: I take no responsibility for any harm that comes to your phone as a result of applying this mod. This is still in test stage for Xperia Ion! Please report problems and give as much info as possible.

[How to]
How to:
All mods on previous post is in .apk form (no CWM zips). Easiest way to install is to use adb and push the apk to its right place. If you have problems understanding how to use adb USE GOOGLE AND SEARCH.
For normal system apps:
adb remount
adb push YourApkHere.apk /system/app ( for example: adb push SystemUI.apk /system/app )
For framework-res.apk:
adb remount
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
adb reboot
Another way is to use a file explorer:
Copy and move the file to /system
Set right permissions: rw-r--r--
Now move the file to its final destination.
You can also put the apk in a CWM flashable zip.
Nice stuff

Thank You - Nice work
Man I Love you!
This is really great! It works perfect!
I moved all the files in ES File Explorer and everything works great but the text on the lock screen is right under the buttons and is in the next button. Charging status is also right under the date text. Did I do something wrong? I moved the right file to the right folder.

Could you do something like this for our ion?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840583
Maybe something similar... I am working on GX systemui now.
I had changed my font and upon changing it and rebooting everything looked right on the lockscreen. Thank you for these tweaks, they're perfect man. I look forward to seeing more!

Works perfectly thanks ! Question though, how do you move the clock back to the corner?
I guess you could just extract "status_bar.xml" from a mod with the clock in the corner, to my SystemUI.apk. Suggest you use my "ICS statusbar" mod.
status_bar.xml is in SystemUI.apk/res/layout/

anyway to get some battery mods? like the circle ones or solid numbers
Can you include a brightness bar in the notification menu? Not a button, but a bar that we can slide from left to right.

Okay, I think my Ion is bricked
First, I put the framework-res.apk & SystemUI.apk into \system & changed their permission to rw-r-r, then put them into their final place. And after reboot, the status bar just FC & said "the process 1$s has stopped". I tried doing everything again but after rebooting this time, Ion can't even get into launcher, just a black screen with a popup "Starting applications. %1$s running" forever
I have no idea how to turn this off. Anyone can help?
Look like you forgot to deodex rom before you changed out your SystemUI & framework-res. I hope you did backup the original files or did a backup through CWM. If not you need to reflash the ftf again.
Sent from my LT28at using Tapatalk 2
Ookay, I didn't see the note that these things need deodex so I just install them without knowing, lol. Lucky I got everything backed up so I just flashed deodexed rom & it works perfectly xD
Oh btw... one last problem. Somehow the "Turn off phone" option in my power-menu became "Sound OFF" instead. It still turn off the phone when I press it though xD
Edit: I found out the prob, framework-res.apk from the lockscreen messed up the texts in my phone, including power-menu & numpad when calling. Its all back to normal after I reinstall the original framework.
I am using AOSP Lockscreen with music fix. it's very good but I can't Import contact from sim card. Help me

Nova Background MOD
http://d-h.st/3Iz
Nova Background revert
http://d-h.st/2Sl
1 - How to (for those who will use my mod on stock)
Prepare a background picture (512x512 or 720x1280) and rename it "novabackground.png". Just open the framework-res.apk I provided
using 7zip and navigate to /res/drawable-nodpi
Delete it and drag&drop Your personal background. Be sure to name it "novabackground.png"
Using the flashable zip I provided or a Root Explorer You can push new themed framework-res.apk in /system/framework.
2 - How to (for other ROMs)
You will need:
- apktool
- notepad++
- 7zip
- framework-res.apk from the ROM you're using
1) Install framework-res.apk;
2) Decompile it;
3) Navigate to /framework-res/res/values/ and open styles.xml
Search for:
Code:

@color/background_dark

and change it with:
Code:

@color/[COLOR="red"]transparent[/COLOR]

Search for:
Code:

@drawable/screen_background_selector_dark

and change it with:
Code:

@drawable/[COLOR="red"][B]nameofbackground[/B][/COLOR]

4) Prepare a background (nameofbackground.png) (512x512 or 720x1280) and add it to framework-res/res/drawable-nodpi
5) Recompile back and ... done!
6) Next time you can use 1 - How to

[How To] Enable iOS like Overscroll (Bounce) Animation on any Rom

Your Phone Should be Rooted
1) Install Xposed from HERE
2) Install Xui Mod v9 from HERE , activate it & reboot
3) Open Xui Mod app. Go to Scrolling Mod option, enable it,
Set Overscroll Distance to 150
Set Overfling Distance to 150
& Reboot phone.
You'll get overscroll animation like iOS, but you'll also see overscroll glow. To disable overscroll glow, you'll have to extract framework-res.apk (from system/framework) of your rom & replace overscroll png with transparent ones & put new apk back to system/framework. (If you are new to this, simply upload your Rom name and its framework-res.apk here & I or someone else will do that for you.)
All credit to Creators of Xposed & Xui mod.
Have Fun !

Cool mod.. Thnx for this

Sorry, but I don't understand what does this really looks like? is there any video to see?
video will be appreciated.... @thread owner
It gives a bouncing animation when you over scroll in an app. Open settings, keep scrolling down till the end and don't stop, you would see a curvy white bouncing animation at the end... Same applies for all the otger apps

I think that 150 is not a universal value, because smaller screens will have greater part used for the overscroll.
so i'd like to know what's the resolution of your device, to calculate the percentage of the vertical resolution.

Or there's an option to disable the overscroll glow in latest XUIMod.
