Hey guys... So I got a amazon fire stick cheap from someone... And it worked fine... But all a sudden it seems to have reset, and is now not logging into any of my amazon accounts. Keeps saying cannot verify.
Is there some kind of security feature where a fire stick can be deactivated from amazon or something.. ?
Any advice how to get around this...? It asks to connect to WiFi which it does fine... Then add amazon account... Which then it keeps failing to verify.

Are you blocking any domains in your router? If so you may have issue connecting to Amazon.
Just got today same issue
Any resolutions on this issue....?

No I'm not blocking anything... I had just side loaded xmbx and some other apps earlier... It was working fine then... All a sudden it just stopped.
Does amazon block devices in any scenario?

Try logging into you Amazon account and see what devices you have registered on there. If the stick Is still registered then try un-registering it. Then try sign in again on stick
I have an Amazon Fire stick it was working fine . Then all of a sudden when trying to go back in it asks me if I have an account or need to create one. As we bought it for $80 and had kodi we don't have an account and don't want to register because we never had to before. Please help

Who ever sold it to you probably had it logged in under their account. Either they removed that device from their account, or it was pushed out by them registering new devices. An amazon account is required.

Did you ever get your Amazon Fire Stick to work? I've had my firestick for quite awhile now and all of a sudden it stopped working. It doesn't seem to recognize my Amazon ID or password. Go to Amazon.com and check if your device is still registered. if so delete it and try to login.
If it still doesn't work contact official amazon support for help, they are very helpful

hey guys, bought firetv a while ago in usa, worked perfectly, was a prime member so it came all setup for me. moved to canada, screen popped up:enter your existing PIN set for amazon instant video. i try what i think it is, like 00000 or 12345, doesn't work AND the error is A connection to the internet could not be established. Please try again later. got a new modem/router when i got internet here in canada, then switched to my original router from usa, still has the same problem.
i mostly use it as a media streamer using plex, i don't expect to get amazon instant video, but i can't even get past this screen.
thanks a ton!!
Did you try contacting Amazon support? They're usually very responsive.
Also, look up a way to remove the FireTV from your account so it can be reinitialized. It's probably confused because of the country change. You should find this from your Amazon account on the web.

From the Amazon homepage, all the way down to the right there's a link for 'Help'. Click on that and just follow the instruction. There's a bunch of options and one of the options is 'Call Us'. The last time I had to contact Amazon support I didn't find a phone number either, but after following the instruction I had the option for them calling me. They called me within 2 minutes!

AHA! figured it out. plugged in ethernet cable, so internet works without having to log into my wifi, then code works one time out of a bunch of tries, then it still wants me to put in that code again for some reason at random times, so i factory reset it, and unplugged the internet, started and it prompted me to join a wifi connection. now it works great, but i took off the parental controls so it wouldn't ask me for my pin (i had fyi changed my pin to 00000 but it only worked every once in a while). thanks for the help guys
I live outside the US. Got a new aftv from a friend in the US. Set up smart dns, created US Amazon account and filled it with gift card $.
When aftv starts it connects to my wifi and then presents me with a screen where I have to register.
It will not accept my US amazon account... And the smart DNS does not appear to help in any way. (It is working for other services like Netflix etc).
Since I am stuck in the Registration screen there is no other options/choises available to me.
Is there a way out of this situation? Is there a way to skip the Registration?
I can only try to help with advice on how I got past the annoying registration.
Maybe setup a native account from your location, then forward or send all of the gift card $ to it.
Maybe working as gift cards, you could give them to yourself as if you are another person?
Other new buyers of Fire TV,feel free to try this method below if you can't get a card as soon as you'd like to.
I used a generated dummy card value to get past the one irratating part.
(I didn't/don't have a card, nor can I get one without going through too much trouble)
I don't remember where I found the site that automatically generates them for use,but I hope you too,can find one that works.
IMHO,the Fire TV setup sucks!
When I first got a Sony NSZ-GS7 last year,it did not require a card in order to get past the setup screen.
..
Call Amazon customer support and tell them you can't login on your Fire TV. They'll have you go through a few troubleshooting steps. Once you get to the part where you login, just tell them you're putting in the correct email/password but it says your login is incorrect. Eventually they will try to log you in from their end using the device's serial number. Once they log you in, you'll be able to restart the Fire TV and it will go straight to the home screen.
On a side note, do you trust the person you bought the Fire TV from? I ask because not being able to login, even though the account is valid, is the symptom of a host-file-soft-bricked Fire TV. This happens when the Fire TV is factory reset with a modified host file that is set to block/redirect amazon's servers. There is no way to fix this, as far as I know.

I have tried sending gift card from my local account to the new US account. It does not work.
I have tried to setting it up with generated US Diners and Visa cards etc. It does not work either.
Amazon has locked down their device pretty well...
I have alerted customer support.

Hello,
Even though I ordered a Fire TV from my amazon account, it was delivered to me without registration. Upon boot, it guides me to configure the network and says that the configuration was successful and then I get to the Registration step.
After providing my email and password, it fails me with message "Sign-in failed. please verify your email and password and try again" even tough I am using exactly the same credentials that I used today to login on the website.
I attempted many times, with many reboots, to no avail. I even tried to create another account using the device, instead of using the one I already have, and although the account was in fact created (I can logon to it on the website) the dreaded "Sign-in failed" message showed again.
Any clues?

When this happens from other retailers it is often the device was not scanned properly before being sold/ship, it's possible Amazon did the same thing. Contact their customer support.

In fact I had contacted the customer support before posting. But since I bought the Fire TV on a trip to the USA and now I am back to my country, I can't get a replacement device, as customer support suggested at first. My only option is to ship it back to Amazon to get a refund.
If I could somehow fix it, I would prefer to keep the device over getting a refund :/ But it seems I'm out of luck.
Cheers!
Maybe it's failing because it sees you are outside of the US. Try vpn to the US on your router the sign in.

Thanks for the suggestion. After configuring the VPN on my router, I checked that my IP was appearing as if I was in the USA, and that I could indeed stream Amazon Instant Video on my PC. But unfortunately it had no effect on the Fire TV. I turned it on several times and attempted to login, but it keeps showing me the "Sign-in failed" message.

I feel your pain.
Just for completeness sake: I also attempted the factory reset procedure using a USB keyboard, but it didn't change a thing.
Maybe someone already found a solution? Have the same problem.
According Support the unit can not be assigned to my account.

If you have firs-ta-g7g.amazon.com blocked in your router or DNS, the Fire TV will fail to register/sign in. I mention it because in the early days it was thought this domain was used to update, so some people blocked it.
In my router nothing is blocked.

After about 7 chats, calls, e-mails with Amazon support they finally fixed it for me. I had to give them my MAC address, they opened an internal ticket and a few hours later they e-mailed me to try it again and it worked.

I was hoping to just use this as a mini-kindle for the next month, is there away to register to an Amazon account without a SIM card? It's throwing a server error when I attempt it.
I did tests with the UK and GER release of FireOS 4.6.1, both times I was able to login with my Amazon account and use their services.
I have a netlocked device, never inserted a sim card, flight mode on / off doesn't matter.
I set mine up as well, w/o a sim.

Hmm, I haven't been able to sign in to the amazon account. The browser works but I can't use any of the services.
What's the exact error / message you get when the login fails?
Version of FireOS installed? (hopefully 4.6.1)
Have you made significant changes on the device, that may interfere with account settings?
Did you buy from Amazon directly, if so, try contacting them as well.
As you can see from the responses, it usually isn't a problem to login with an existing account.
If anything else fails to resolve the problem: re-install FireOS, but we can talk about that later...
I have in the US.
My first fire phone came already registered. Well, that one broke, and I got a replacement, but Amazon apparently failed to register the phone to me before they shipped, and I was not able to register, whatever I tried.
If you have to go through the registration process yourself, I suspect that Amazon doesn't have that phone's id or whatever on their server. Talk to the customer's service.

I doubt that.
Every Amazon device comes preconfigured, if you buy it directly from them, that's standard procedure (if they don't miss one ^^).
(It's true that Amazon saves the device info on the account, when you log in, but you can delete them as you like, no questions asked.)
I had multiple devices from other people and used them with different accounts (during customization & testing).
Kindle HDX / FireTV / Fire Phone / FireTV Stick: reset / restore the device, re-install OS, it doesn't matter:
If the OS is working correctly, you can log in with any Amazon account.
you should be able to, when I first got the device It was not set up or attached to my account(since I did not order it myself), and I was able to use it without a sim. I also did a factory reset recently and it didn't pick up my service but I still got in the phone(had to do setup all over again).

Hmm, I don't know exactly what they are, but there are several things that Amazon has to put on their server, and in the case of my replacement phone, they obviously forgot about them when they shipped. I was not able to log onto their services until they fixed the problem. And even after that there still were a few things missing from their server, and I had to call them again and again to have the problems fixed.
I have two rooted Gen 1 Fire TV's and a Gen 2 non rooted Voice FireStick. I woke up this morning and turned on the Gen 1 FireTV and it was logged out of my Amazon account. I needed to re enter the credentials and it was working.
Went downstairs to check the other Gen 1 rooted box and it was the same way. However my FireStick was fine.
Is it possible that Amazon is trying to reset my rooted/bootloader unlocked/rbox recovery boxes?

No probs here. What PreRooted FW & what version of TRWP are u on. Maybe yours tried to take the update & TWRP stopped it. And Amazon kicked the account being logged in. Just spitballing.
What was strange was that it happened to only my two rooted FireTV boxes. They both are on TWRP 3.0.06 and 5.2.1.1_r1 pre rooted rom from Rbox. I do have amazon updates blocked at my router but I didn't do the block where you change the version number of the version number.

The PreRooted v5.2.1.1_r1 would have updated your TWRP to v7. It can happen that a device gets kicked off an account but two seems less of a coincidence.
For me router/opendns blocking created more problems & is really not guarantee to block every possible address. So I only recommend first method 5 & then method 1 after the first log in. Both methods combine are the best option. The router/opendns method can block more then just the updates. So it could of cause a communication problem on your FTV1's that got them kicked off the account. Maybe.
I think I figured out why my account is logged out. Amazon thinks I am a reseller because I have so many fire TV under my Amazon account.
I was reading the comments at the bottom of this article and it's been happening to other users getting logged out.
For some reason I can't link the aftv news article but it's the one why amazon can't keep the FTV in stock.

That would had been my first response but since you only mentioned 3 devices in the OP I didn't think the Amazon device limit was the problem...
As for the linking. I think you can only link after you have posted at least 10 posts. Just a standard forum restriction. Guess it cuts down on spam posters.

I do only have three in the house but when I looked at the list it seems to have recorded a bunch of Firesticks I have reset and installed custome roms and also families firestick that i setup in the past.
I deleted like 20 devices including phones from my list so hopefully I won't be logged out again.

Yeah, I know how it goes. I think I have 7 FTV devices over all. 4 are mine & 3 are gifts I gave to close family & friends. I asked them if they wanted to change the Amazon account to theirs. But they prefer to keep access to my 800+ FTV(S) apps by using my account. Luckily Amazon added pin & other restrictions to purchases & subscriptions. Although, I did have to cancel two purchases. But I think that was caused by someone here at home. When I mod a FTV(S) for anybody else. I always make sure they put their Amazon info or I always Deregister them as soon as I am done.
Weird so I deleted a bunch of devices from my Amazon account. This morning my stock firestick 2 was logged out of the account and another one of my rooted box FTV1 was logged out. I have a total of 4 FTV devices and Kindle tablets and my android and my wife's IOS phone. Is there a way to get Amazon to stop? It seems like when they log me out I need to enter some apps credentials again which is a pain.
