DK48 Dock (use, adapters and cases) - Xperia Z3 Compact Accessories

Hey guys,
I bought the Z3 and was blown away with how much i was missing out on (the premium feel of the device, the specs and the speed compared to the nexus 5 i had) .
i have recently bought the DK48 dock to plant my phone on my desk while im working.
Does keeping the phone on the dock all working day affect the phones battery on the long run?
I tried to research on the "smart charging" ability the phone has to stop charging as soon as it has achieved 100%. But doesn't that mean that consumption of energy is inherent (with the apps running even if the screen is not on) therefore causing the battery to lose energy and recharge as it is connected to electricity (the dock).

One thing that i do when the phone has ended charging is putting it back in "portrait mode", with the back on the phone "squeezed" near the Magnetic closure, and it doesn't move at all. Because I don't think this is a good idea to let him charge indefinititely

[Q] Ipod/Iphone charger results in buggy touchscreen?

I think nobody asked this question before since I didn't find it even loking in Google
Since I got mi Desire I realised that not every charger works for it, I have an USB charger that went with a bluetooth dongle I bought (with same specs) but seems to be a lie because the battery keeps draining when plugged in, but that's not the problem I actually have.
My original HTC charger broke after three weeks of normal use , since there are no HTC stores in my country I went to an Apple store and bought and Iphone charger wich has the same specs as the broken stock one (Output 5V 1A). The problem is that sometimes when I plug the phone (usualy I charge my phone overnight), the screen becomes buggy, sometimes not responsive and sometimes over responsive (eg. if I click on an icon to move it into the home screen, it responds as if I clicked that icon several times very quickly). At first I thougt it was a ROM issue, but at this moment I already tried LeeDroid, OpenDesire and now I'm on teppic74's rooted Froyo and had similar issues in everyone of them. It's not really a mind breaker since I am ussually sleeping while charging, but I wonder if I'm not killing the battery or causing any kind of damage to the phone.
Can anybody give me a hand on this?
Thanks
Why not just order a charger online?
I don't know if it hurts the phone or the battery.
But if my screen went super-laggy and over-responsive by charging it..
I'd throw the charger out.
Already ordered, but I was wondering if someone happened to know a technical reason for this to happen, the phone doesn't overheat and the charging process works as a charm, the only issue is the screen wich sometimes behaves perfectly normal
Guess I will give the charger to any iphone owner when I get the original one (I have to buy in the UK store.. totally overseas)
My phone does the same thing if I use a PS3 charger (Just the usb to wall socket part). When I was in a phone shop, I noticed their Desire HD that was on display did the same thing. From what I can gather, it doesn't do any damage and happens with a lot of aftermarket chargers. Don't take my word for that though, hope I shed some light
Hello
Have same problem with my recently buyed HTC Desire while charging with non-original charger (from Nokia).
First time I'm worried about phone, but after reading charger's characteristics I found some difference in power.
So I think while phone charging it's receives less power than needed for normal work.

Dead Battery potential issue

Today was the first time I let my phone's battery drain down to nothing and it died completely while i was on a phone call. But when it died, the screen went black as it should, but it refused to charge. The light didnt come on and it wouldnt power on. I had to pull the battery and then it booted to a 'critically low battery' notification on the screen. Has anyone experienced this kind of freezing when the battery is just on the verge of dying?
I don't have this specific issue, but definitely power draining problems on my Focus. I let it charge overnight - 10+ hours plugged in. That should be more than enough for a nice, full charge. Well it's been unplugged from the charger for a little over 3 hours now and it's already down 30%. All I did was listen to 4 songs on the Zune on the way to the office this morning.
Same thing happened yesterday. So two days in a row isn't looking good. By early afternoon yesterday it was almost drained.
I haven't even made any phone calls with this yet! I can only imagine what a handful of 30 minute phone calls would do.
hmm... faulty battery/phone? maybe take it back to the store and ask for an exchange?
Is there any way to calibrate the battery? Such as completely drain it, fully charge it then look around the settings menu for a way to delete any kind of battery stats file?

I was thinking the same thing, about exchanging it. I'm going to give it more time and really put it through some paces to verify. I've got until the end of November to exchange it.
This was all without any Wifi on too
I've noticed my LG-C900 also seems like a battery hog, and takes forever to charge. The Samsung SGH-i917 is a little better, but both of them have a tendency to run out of battery quickly if I forget to charge them overnight. It's a little worrisome to me.
I don't measure smartphone battery length systematically, but my Motorola Droid seems to do a lot better, and my HTC G1 has gone all week without being charged (although the graphics aren't nearly as good, the processor doesn't have to work as hard even to change menus).
On the other hand, the advantage is in both of those phones, it is much easier to change batteries, making it possible to carry an extra battery and switch halfway through the day, something you could never do with an iphone.

That would probably be a good idea.
you could look at the wifi status , turn it off when you don't need it .
wifi is "on" as default , if I don't turn it off my batt is dying really quick .
I didn't look at it but maybe you can also turn off the GPS .
The first Focus I got shipped from AT&T refused to take a charge. You could plug it in and the icon would change to a plug, but it wouldn't charge up at all. I replaced it at a store and the new one is perfect. Charges quickly and lasts much longer than my old Fuze. I don't know if it was the phone or the battery, but I'd just get a replacement.
For some reason my HD7 won't charge from PC USB ports-- it's been "critically low" in the morning the two times I left it plugged into a PC overnight (orange light on, but apparently not charging quickly enough).
The ports work fine charging my HD2 and iPhones-- apparently not with the HD7 though. Only dedicated AC adapters feeding a full 1A have worked so far-- not hugely inconvenient, but kind of odd.
my G1 and HD2 would exibit this behavior when on my car's USB port when the charge was low enough, and the last system update that came down for the G1 would just slow the drain when attached to my car.
The first trip with the HD7 in the car > home, it died on the car's USB port, very slowly. After its first full charge it does accept a charge from the car. I think it may have issues once it gets low enough just like the HD2. I think it may be the output, I don't remember how much power Honda supplies at the USB port, but obviously not enough for all devices. All my ports on my laptop, desktop and WHS, except the front ports on the WHS and the desktop, charge these 3 devices handily, the front ports on the home server and the desktop must only provide minimal power, I've had USB sticks complain and drop speed on these.

[Q] Charging glitch [test your device]

Dear XDA members,
After using my hox for a few months, (i absolutely love it..) i noticed a weird glitch..
While using my hox through the day, its fine.. i have no problems at all.
but: when i charge it at night, and use it before i go to sleep.. the problems occur.
problem 1: overheating while charging, phone gives an warning with its led (red-green-red-green)
problem 2: this problem is more instant, shaking when scrolling..
its the last problem that i really hate about my phone, if it charges my touchscreen becomes "shaky".
if i open a web-browser and scroll without charger plugged in.. everything is fine.
but if only the metal housing of the usb plug is touching the chargerport of my phone it starts doing funny stuff..
if i keep my finger on the screen, (after scrolling.. when i just stopped moving my finger across the screen)
my screen scrolls up and down very quickly.. and wont stop doing this untill i let my finger go.
this results in an vibrating effect.. like the text is vibrating in my screen..
but when i unplug the charger.. this problem is gone!
then add the overheating problem, and my phone becomes pretty annoying while charging..
its burning my fingers (while charging it will get up to 50 degrees, just by using youtube..) and i cant read normally with one of my fingers
touching the screen, because it will vibrate.
does anyone else have this problem?
i have the HTC_E11 (western europe) and im running android 4.0.4 (stock, unrooted)
besides that, i did not unlock the bootloader.. its like it just came out of the box.
note: this only happens with ALL wall chargers.. from different brands.
(2 htc chargers.. one from my old wildfire S and my new charger AND an samsung galaxy tab charger AND archos tablet charger)
this does not happen when plugged in to an pc, so i think its an grounding problem?
same with browsers.. this happens with all apps and browsers that have the functionality to scroll.
Well about 1,5 years ago I had a spare Motorola charger which was only 0,5A out, but used it when some friends came over and use my charger.
Both my old HD2 and my gf's Desire S became fuzzy with the screen when its plugged. It was clearly mis-tapping where I tap my finger, by very huge margin.
It reminded me that. The charger was rubbish.
mostly trying to avoid using any mobile device while charging but I did play angry birds while charging my HOX a few times, don't remember such a heat.
My HD2 used to respond incorrectly to touch with the stock charger. My HOX doesn't do it however, But if I plug it in to my HD2 charger it sometimes goes a little crazy.
It's easy for electromagnetic interference from a transformer mess with the digitizer in the screen. This is true of any device with a capacitive touch screen.
As for the shaky screen, that would be caused by noisy power being generated by the transformer, rather than a nice clean sine wave. This is common when you overload an AC/DC converter power supply. Try using one that's rated for 1.5mA and see if it helps.
It's unlikely it will damage the device, but it will charge less efficiently and cause some crazy behavior while it's plugged in.
i tried it with my 5v(usb), 1.5A adapter that i got with my tablet..
same problem, but overheating of the accu gets a bit worse
my original adapter has 1A, how much ampere does your adapter have?
I usually charge with a 1.5mA charger. Having said that, a lot of chargers seem to just have a random number stamped on them. I have seen tiny little chargers that claim up to 5A and only actually supply 500mA or less, so they get very overloaded.
An easy way to tell is to see how hot the power adapter is getting. If its appropriately rated for the current draw of the phone, it should get a little warm while charging. If it's getting hot, it's not up to the job and should be replaced.
The charging current should be limited by the charge circuit in the phone, so the higher the rating on the power supply you plug in to to charge, the cleaner the sine wave should be and the less issues you should get. The phone may just get a little warmer when charging due to more current being available. Again, this should be limited by the phone though.

The charger output is DC, I'm not sure what sine wave you're talking about.

Qi pad charge rate very slow

Just picked up a Nokia DT900 plate and also what appears to be the fastech type qi receiver pad (blue sticker / 650ma) from ebay. Despite the "super thin" claims about the pad, it is still a tight fit in the case and definitely causes the back plate to bulge a bit. But the main thing I've found is that the charge rate is really slow (about 2% every 15 minutes - which means that it would take longer to charge the battery than run it down) whereas most experiences on the forums seem to indicate a 30% or so increase in charge time.
If this is the qi experience it seems rather pointless so I'm hoping to hear from others before I go back to the seller as it may well be a dud pad.
******Earlier report in error. Either the charge pad or plate doesn't appear to like be jiggled while charging otherwise the rate slows right down, leaving it alone shows a charge rate of 5% per 15 mins. So if the phone is bumped while charging it needs to removed and replaced. And it does get warm, currently ambient =17C and the face of the phone is measuring 28C using my trusty IR thermometer
just line the bottom of your s3 to the bottom of the charging pad and you should be all set.
that seems to be the sweet spot for my phone

I have the Fast Tech pkg. Yes it is slower by a lot. With the proper wired charger and stock rom, I measure 1100ma max charge rate using a meter. So if the pad is rated 650ma,that says it all. That is a max rating as well... so if for some reason, it is not charging efficiently, then then it will be even slower.
That said, I decided to buy 2 of them for my home for these reasons:
- easy to charge, no fumbling
- affordable
- accommodates cases
- nice to have around the house
- won't wear out usb port
I have one in my kitchen with a sound system with BT receiver, so I get easy wireless music and charging. It's great when you have guests in a kitchen and you want to keep changing songs manually because docking is so easy. It's still faster charging than through most pc usb ports. Just keep a normal wired charger for times when quick charging is necessary.

The DT900 seems to be quite tolerant of phone position but I suspect that if the phone is moved about during charging this confuses the multi coil system on the plate which is why the charge rate slows further.
Also the light on the plate doesn't go off when the phone is charged, as it's claimed to. Hopefully this isn't an issue, although I'm not sure if the phone is able to switch to trickle when using qi.
if the small light doesn't go off, then it's not charging. simple as that. I line my phone up so that the usb port and the light is aligned.
never had a problem as long as the phone is in that position (this is also considering i have the ballistic SG case on it)

tablet drained completely, charges REALLY, REALLY slow... Battery replacement needed?

Hi all,
Recently I discovered my SM-T800 is charging really slow. This happened after my wife was watching Netflix (with a Chromecast) on it. The app crashed (tablet could not be switched off) and was drained completely. Since then the SM-T800 charges really, really slow…
And when I talk of really slow, I mean: really slow. Like more than two days (!) to charge from (almost) zero to 100%. It does not matter if tablet is in standby (on airplane mode) or switched off completely… When I turn the tablet on, it discharges, even when connected to the original adapter. I have tried several devices on the adapter and cables: they all charge flawless (no adapter/cable issue). I also tried another adapter, which did not make a difference.
Does this mean I need to replace the battery now? Because I can hardly use my tablet normally now…
Many thanks for any thoughts, solutions, etc.
At first, try to charge using another cable and charger. Some cables wear over time and che charging speed can be severely affected.
I tried it and it seems to work! Thanks!!

It's pretty easy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnUEMyDs27I
If you open the tablet up check to see if the wires coming off the battery itself are fully inserted into the plastic female connector that makes the connection to the tablet itself. You should not see any of the metal adapters crimped onto the wire ends. I had one of them partially visible and it was causing problems that ranged from slow charging to sudden battery level swings. The tablet would glitch to the point of unusable with 80% battery left. If I plugged it in I could use it, but what good is a tablet you have to keep plugged in. I reinserted that one wire fully into the plastic connector and haven't had any issues since. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it'll be that simple for you, but if it isn't no worries. The batteries are inexpensive and the tablet comes apart fairly easily.
