Hi Friends,
It's been an year since I decided to crack open my android OS and install an OS which was lot faster sans bloat ware. I chose to go with CWM recovery and Cyanogen. I was happy not seeing At&T logo while my phone boots up and was hoping much better things as I use this phone. However, no matter to which version I upgrade, CM has been extremely disappointing to say the least. Not to sound like I am whining, can someone guide me on how to get back to stock OS without bricking my device. My device details given below.
Model: AT&T Samsung Galaxy SIII (Samsung SGH-I747)
Baseband version: I747UCDMG2
Bootloader version: I747UCDMG2
Android version: 4.4.4
CM version: M10-d2lte (downgraded from M11-12 after issues with camera, call volume, mobile networks)
I am seeking help on:
1. Where can I get the stock ROM that suits my device current state
2. Steps on how to wipe off the current crap on my phone and install stock
Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sid

This link should help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625
If your phone isn't unlocked and you are able to flash to stock 4.1.1, use the free method to unlock it before upgrading the bootloader.

Hi OP,
were you able to go back to stock ROM from Android ver 4.4.4 Bootloader I747UCDMG2?
If yes, please let me know which stock ROM you used. I am in the same boat.
Thanks

Hi,
I am not a techie but I had upgrade my galaxy note 2 with unofficial rom of 4.3 , I am facing following issues so want to downgrade it to official version, please give me the procedure.
CURRENT DETAILS:
ANDROID: 4.3
ROOTED: YES
MODEL: GT-N7100
BASEBAND: N7100XXEM16
BUILD NUMBER: JSS15JN7100XXUEM16
ISSUES:- 1)Battery drain
2) After call gets connected, am not able to see the screen until call is hanged up.
3) other small issues.
First off here are the current details of my device:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Model Number: SAMSUNG-SM-N900A
Android Version: 5.0
Baseband Version: N900AUCUEOC1
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-4335446
Build Number: LRX21V.N900AUCUEOC1
Knox Version: 2.3-------------------------------------------------------------
(Sorry I would have posted screenshots but I don't have 10 posts yet.)
I bought the phone with KitKat 4.4.2 and Baseband Version N900AUCUCNC2
Since then it has been updated through:
KitKat 4.4.4 - Baseband: N900AUCUDNJ5
KitKat 4.4.4 - Baseband: N900AUCUDNL1
and now Lollipop 5.0 - Baseband: N900AUCUEOC1
I carelessly updated my phone via Firmware Over the Air (FOTO) not knowing at the time that it would change the process for rooting the phone later on.
I have tried many tutorials and checked various threads throughout the forum for a solution but it just seems AT&T phones are extremely hard to root nowadays.
Some of the things I have tried without success are:
TowelRoot
KingoRoot
Root De La Vega
and possibly a few various other methods.
It is also possible that I may have done one of the above methods incorrectly, although I tried to follow the instructions as carefully as I could for each tutorial.
I have heard that it is easiest to root this phone while it is at KitKat 4.4.2 and I am curious if there is a way where I could downgrade the Android version and successfully root this phone. But I have also heard that AT&T patched 4.4.2 so that it was harder to root although I am not quite sure if this matters.
If anyone has any solution to my problem I would so greatly appreciate it. I want to be able to use this phone to its full potential before I get a new one.
With the 5.0 update comes a fully locked bootloader. ..which means no kernels....ever again. .
Downgrade is not possible to an older version. ..
No bootstrap recovery exists to my knowledge. ..and leaves you with no real root options. ..
Perhaps our devs could find a method. ...but support is not looking good for this older device.
You are locked up tight. ..
Very sorry. ...g
Sounds like you have a Note 3, not the 2.
What he said. Note 2 is i317 and has no lollipops
My wife bought a phone here in Mexico from TELCEL and I hate the stock ROM on it, I'm wanting something like CM or Paranoid Android etc on it.Is there a way to root a carrier locked phone from TELCEL? I can't seem to find any information as I don't know so much spanish to read tutorials about it. Even if I can't unlock it, just installing a new ROM on it would help.
Can anyone lead me in the right direction?
Phone Model: LG-D693n G3 Stylus
Provider: TELCEL
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband Version: MOLY.WR8.W1338.MD.WG.TC01.SP.V11.P2
Kernal Version: 3.4.67
Build Number: ALPS.KK1.AOSP.MP2.TC1SP.V1.19
Software Version: V10a_09-JAN-2015
Cheers
If you want to root the device you can follow this guide.I used PurpleDrake to root my device with firmware V10e for G3 (D855).(As long as you are still in kitkat 4.4.2 / V10a firmware you probably could use Towelroot too to root your device without using a PC).
As long as you root your device you can change the official rom with a custom one.In order to achive that you are going to need a custom recovery. You have to find the right one for your device.I am using TWRP on my device.
If something goes wrong or for some reason you want to restore your phone to official rom you can flash a stock firmware using this guide.I hope I helped you.

Sorry, just checked, same guide as above.....
Ok so I have experience rooting Samsung phones, my previous phone was the S4. Now I've seen posts saying you can't root this phone and others saying you can, so I am a little confused. Some things I've seen are the BeastMode kernel which allows you to root, but I'm not sure if it's even necessary. I'm also heard people using CF-Auto-Root on Lollipop, but chainfire's site shows it only for 4.4.4 not 5.1.1, so again I am confused.
Any help on if and how I can root would be much appreciated. Please and Thank You!!
Device Info:
Software Version: N910PVPU4COG5
Hardware Version: N910P.05
Model Number: SM-N910P
Android Version: 5.1.1
Baseband Version: N910PVPU4COG5
Build Version: LMY47X.N910PVPU4COG5
yes you can root/ cf auto root does not work on 5.1.1/ do alittle research and decide if you want pre 5.1 bootloader or if you took update to og5 then you can't use older kernel / any way you go...find a rom with root and superuser baked in....recommend hybrid x roms (sweet)...get your phone specs and decide which rom will suit your needs..

So, I currently have a samsung s7 active that I purchased used, unlocked but was using AT&T with the AT&T firmware on itat the time. I upgraded it to Oreo universal firmware
It's currnet running info is
Baseband: G891AUCS5CSB1
Android Version: 8.0.0
Samsung Experience version: 9.0
Android security patch level: February 1, 2019
How would I go about downgrading back to Nougat but the Universal firmware?
I'm quite new to the android system, and all the guides seem to have different steps to use and there seems to be a million firmwares for each version.
I was looking at the thread linked here, and there seems to be 3 of the same firmware that are all different somehow???
What would be the best, easiest, and quickest firmware to use and guide to follow? I want to go back to Nougat with the universal firmware and my phone to remain unlocked of course
any help is greatly appreciated. thanks!
the problem with this dam phone is the locked bootloader! snapdragon samsung sucks... PLUS it was exlusive to ATT
such a shame. a phone with an AMAZING camera even today and the BEST design for its time... only to be locked to AT&T, LOCKED snapdragon and really ****ty stock software super lame
because of this I'm not sure the thing can be downgraded
Hello, is that the case then? That the S7 Active can't be downgraded back to android v.7 Nougat ? I'm hoping that it can, as AT&T just forced the v.8 Oreo into my S7 this morning, and now I no longer have the very useful 'Usage Manager' app. =( I used it more than any other app, to enable/disable mobile data on the fly, and kill all running apps in background, etc etc.
Please let it be..... downgradable !=(
