Just received the Galaxy Pro S 10.5 and would like to know how to get to use the ExtSD for Storage?
Is there a way to accomplish this and what is necessary to get this done?
I have the 16Gb model and a 32gb bit external Sd card installed which is needed to be used.
Help?
Hi,
you can only use the samsung built in file manager (myfiles) to write on your ext SD.
also your programs will have limited access to SD.
you'll have to root if you're using other file managers.
blame google.

Issued Solved
My Galaxy S5, Nexus 7 (2013), and now finally my Samsung Tab S 10.1 have full access to the External SD.
This Tab S was the most difficult to make the External SD, ExtSD, join the group.
First I rooted and installed ThunderRom800 version 2.1 which did allow some access to the ExtSD. But then I needed to get from the Play Store, SDFix and Kitkat External SD to get this to work as I would have expected. With the additional install of App2SD, I was in business.
I do not like to save my stuff to Goggle, so I use TB for backup and App Backup & Restore and save all to the extSD card. App2SD allowed the moving of any file of choice to me sent to the SD card.
If what I want to backup is not allowed to get to the extSD card I would be always unable to download anything.

Hi,
Can someone point me to the easiest way of moving my large games (1.8GB or more) games to my SD card?
Thanks in advance.

You have to root your note first so you can install an app for this one :highfive:
You need to be rooted and then you can use the app called "Folder Mount" from the play store to transfer any directories you like to the sd card.

Thanks for your responses. I already have my Note 8.0 rooted and ready to go. I will do some research on this folder mount app.:good:
Folder Mount is by far the easiest app to use. Thanks!:good:
Here's a link to the app:

I have installed this app but frankly I do not understand its purpose. If I need to move files and folders, then I can do it with any file manager, no need to have this app installed, unless I'm missing something.
On the other hand, how can I move apks to external sd? I mean when I install an app (apk) it still goes to internal storage. How can I force it to install on sd card (if possible), or at least how can I move it to sd card after it installs internally?

you can't.. moving apps and games to external is imposibble even with apps2sd... the only way to do this is to copy your files from internal to external and mount it to the original internal directory..
that's what foldermount does...atleast thats what I think it does..

Hi,
I've only had Nexus phones and tablets before and have never had external SD card support. I'm on the stock LG G Pad right now (i.e. not the GPE). I tried to move folders to the external SD card using ASTRO, thinking that this would move my synced rdio and google magazine files to the external SD, but the apps don't seem to read the files anymore.
Is there a guide on how to get files to recognize that there's an SD card and an external SD card? Is my best bet to root and use TiBu?
THANKS!
Noob to SD

There's an app called folder mount which will move folders to the external SD card and link them such that the app will think the folder is in the same location and still work just fine. I've used it on my galaxy s4 without problems, however you do need to be rooted to use it. My problem is I'm on a rooted g pad and can't seem to get it to work. If you do root and it works, please report back, I'm not sure if I have a defective device.

Thanks a ton. I'll probably root after the holidays, since I am scrambling to get things done before then and I want to make sure that I have Google Movies access on my vacation! I'll let you know there when I do it.

I've installed both and I'm rooted now but still can't move or install anything to sd
I had the same problem; couldn't write, etc although from a PC or installing the same SDCARD in another device worked fine.... called Google Support; no help by the way and after searching/reading for a while determined the problem.
This link explains how to fix... basically Android is not accessing the proper "name" of the external card and you just need to add one line to fix permissions.

good day to all
can someone help me?
i have a tab 7.0, rooted, and im using the costom rom rocket tab v2.0
my tab is only 8gb, i have to many apps in the internal storage
now, i want to move them to sd card so i go to application manager and select an application and tap the move to sd card
but the problem is, a window appering "Unable to move app. Not enought storage space" even though my SD card has a huge space
i try using the app. link2SD, but here is the message appear when i try to move it to sd card:
"App2SD is not supported by your device. Because your device has a primary external storage which is emulated from the internal storage. You can link the app in order to move it's files to your SD card."
i understand what it means, but the problem is, how can i make my primary external storage to original internal storage? is there anyway for that? so that my sd card can be the external storage?
or any way arround to install from my sd card?
I use RomToolbox Pro on all my android devices to move apps to my sd card. There's a utility called configure apps to sd, that helps to direct apps to install on the external sd. There is also a utility called root browser within rom toolbox pro where you can simply move files from your internal to external sd card. It does take a little while to figure out but it does work well in my experience. There is also the app manager, in rom toolbox, where you can move them one at a time. The only thing I would say as a word of caution is first make a backup, then start tweaking, and remember that when some apps are moved to the external sd they will lose their widget capabilities.
I'm probably leaving out some of the finer points, but hopefully you get the idea and it helps you.

I will be trying this. I was told by Samsung that 4.2.2 would let us do that but if this works I can keep my current install.

So I'm coming from note 3. Is it just me or can you not move files from phone storage to SD card. ? I torrent my movies and music like a lot I'm sure do. But can't get anything I download to move to my SD card. ?
I also came from a Note 3, and when it had 4.3 on it, you could transfer apps to SD, but 4.4.2 stopped that. Its not a Samsung or HTC thing, its a 4.4.2 thing.
Just tested it and I can use Root Explorer to make a transfer between internal SD and external SD.

Hey,
I believe there was something reported about 4.4.2 not allowing this process. I went to Playstore and downloaded an app called "NextApp SDFix". It's supposed to restore your permissions to write files to the MicroSD cards. Check it out!!
You should be able to use HTC File Manager, which allows you to copy files to the SD card, without root access. Hope this helps.
I recently filled up my internal storage and have put a new 64gb sd card in my TAB S. Now I have figured out how to move apps already installed on my device to the SD Card through the app manager. Is there a way to install apps right off the bat to the SD card or do I have to first install them to my device and then move them over?
I have the same question-
But i m not able to move app also, do we have a fix?
Few gb's game lead to no storage space available - how to fix this guys.
Root, install SDfix for R/W permission and FolderMount or Link2SD to transfer files, data etc to the SD card.
It's kind of convoluted. I read you could use adb to set default location to external sd. Sounds great except it doesn't work. I'm using folder mount right now. It's a bit tedious because you install your app on internal first, then move any large obb to external. I tried link2sd but had trouble with partitioning the card. I'll give it a shot some other time.
I don't know why you just can't like sym link /sdcard0 to /sdcard1 and be done with it.

I had the same issue before., Rooted the device and install custom ROM which did not solve the issue as I wanted. Installed the Kalikazoo above and another KitKat External app from the Play Store and then I was able to use the Apps2SD for most of my apps. After using these, I was able to use the External SD as I had planned. My big issue was Apps Backup & Restore which is my backup to Titanium Backup if any of the ones I want fail. Since all of these take a lot of space the external SD is a MUST. I have it am I am a happy camper because of it. Shame on Samsung for limiting our use of that external slot right out of the box.
