I unlocked my bootloader, flashed the recovery clockworkmod philz touch, and rooted my htc one m8 with the toolkit by hasoon2000. Then I wiped everything forgot to backup and then tried to flash from stock sense 6.0 4.4.2 to stock sense 6.0 4.4.4. When I tried to flash the stock 4.4.4 stock htc sense rom it would say
-- installing: /sdcard/Download/3.28.401.9-Firmware-noredtext.zip
Finding update package...
opening update package...

press any key to continue
I tried to adb sideload but i get the same message and I also tried to flash another rom but it would do the same thing.
I would be very happy and appreciative if someone could try to help me.
Thank you

If you're running on stock sense 6 4.4.2 and you want to upgrade it to stock sense 6 4.4.4, you'll have to restore back a backup and use the OTA provided by HTC to update the device. You can get your nandroid backup from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Do not forget to check your CID as restoring another CID backup will not give you any OTA so follow instructions carefully

Thankyou so much but I read this other tutorial to get back to stock but then I found out it was the stock recovery not the rom and I dont know how to get cwm back and I tried to do it through the toolkit but it doesn't recognise my device and when I try to boot into the recovery it shows a phone with a red triangle with a exclamation point in it. I have no idea what I am going to do now and I can't take my phone back now and I only did this so I could get to the lollipop skydragon rom because its a slightly modified version of the lollipop gpe and you needed 4.4.4 to flash it without problems and at first I wasn't going to do this because I wanted the official gpe from htc but they said they were going to put it out on friday and it didn't happen and i got really tired of waiting. Do you know what I can do now. Thank you for the help. I appreciate it you're the only one that tried to help me.
update
I tried to flash philz touch cwm again in the toolkit and it worked

This right there is the problem. If this is the exact file you are trying to flash as a ROM, then it wont work. That is not a ROM file. That is for the modified Hboot splash screen. And it wont flash through the recovery it needs to be flashed from the RUU mode.
Long story short, you need a full ROM zip to flash not just the Hboot.

I've flashed the oxygen 0.2.2 ROM on my Desire and have ROm manager recovery installed. I want to go back to stock recovery and ROM. I've downloaded stock RUU but when I try to install it, it errors about bootloader verification failed. What should I do? Thank you in advance.
Which RUU did you download and which were you on when you first got the phone?
I've downloaded this RUU:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe
I don't remember on which I was when I got the phone, because it did the automatical upgrade the first day I turned it on. I just know that it was on Android 2.1. Should I try with the latest available stock RUU?
You could try getting 2.29.405.2 but you need to make a note of the exact error as there might be a chance you're on a branded handset.
This is why I stress to make a note of the ROM on your phone out the box before doing anything. I wish people would add it to rooting threads as it would make life a lot easier
I don't think that it is branded. Downloading the newest RUU. i'll post after I try it.
Ok. the newest one passed. Thank you for your help. Did this install the stock recovery as well?
Try it and find out
(Yes, an RUU puts EVERYTHING back to stock)
Hehehe I've tryed to enter the recovery but all i got was a picture of sign with exclamation mark. What does this mean?

Stock roms don't come with a recovery, you need to pull the batteries out or you can't use your phone. If you wan't a recovery installed use unrevoked3, you can also use a custom recovery (AmonRA) in the unrevoked3 setup. unrevoked3 comes standard with clockworkmod, and that one is not working correctly on my device.
Yes they do, that IS the stock recovery!!!
At the ! just hold volume up and press power and you'll get the stock recovery menu
Ok, thank you. marking this as solved.
Read my last post as MichelN gave you incorrect information...
I just did. Thank you very much, you've been very helpful.
Hi Back Again been on Viper ROM but was looking at RENOVATE 11.0.0 for a JB ROM it says I need to update my HBoot (I have 1.12.000) S on
Looking I found the tool to update HBoot but it says it irreversible if I update my HBoot cn I still go back to the Viper non JB ROM I have a HTC One X
Any thoughts and how easy it is to do
Thanks
Yes you can go back to the viper x rom. Just flash it as any other rom
Not Reversable
Doing It=Easy
And yes its not reversable!
So I need to update bootloader from 1.12 and no I cant go back but yes I can go back to Viper ROM which is not JB if prefer it

You said this also in another thread. Please correct it. please stop spreading this around you are confusing people !!!
Yes you can go flash back to ics !
OK Thanks so let me get this straight I can upgrade to HBoot 1.31 from 1.12 I can then install JB Roms namely RENOVATE 11.0.0?
If I find I don't like the Renovate ROM can I then go back to Viper ROM by restoring my backup
Thanks Again
Yes that is correct ! Do a nandroid of your existing rom. Try the JB and if you don't like it you perform a full wipe in recovery, flash the boot.img from your nandroid backup and restore the nandroid in recovery
How do you do a nandroid backup I have TWRP Recovery Thanks

Don't know i never used that recovery......
Is there an option that says backup maybe ?
Yes there is a backup option so I use that do a full backup is it OK to backup to the phone or should I save the backup to my laptop then update hboot then flash the boot.img then install the revolution ROM
Is JB revolution rom a worthwhile upgrade from the vViper Rom ..........
DO this!
Do this or u will regret later.
Ur SD card will also be formatted so backup the SD to a safe folder on ur computer and also ur internal Memory(Contacts etc)Using Superbackup app.
Now make a backup using the recovery and copy the backup to ur pc so that next time when u install the recovery u can place the backup in its folder!
Thanks for the help still not done it, don't want to brick my phone when installing the Viper Rom everything went perfectly but not sure about JB Rom with changing HBoot etc is there an "idiots" guide detailing the steps for a noob like me thanks

OK whats to regret with updating HBoot now? Will I get the official update as I'm not on stock
Really don't understand all this
When you update your hboot now you could.....i say could get problems running a ics rom, or problems with GPS . There are still a few bugs around.
When you are on stock you can update with the official OTA from HTC no problem with that.
When you are not on stock you can not update officially updates from HTC. The phone has to be full stock
Stock rom
Stock kernel
Stock recovery
But if you plan to stay on a JB custom rom then you can flash the new hboot, you will have no problems running the JB roms
But that's a choice you have to make for yourself
OK I think I see, right now I'm using the Viper ICS ROM but was thinking of going on the JB ROM revolution
So now I'm using Viper ICS I will not be able to update my phone through HTC's official updates, will I need to go back to stock to get official updates, or do I just wait till I can get HBoot through unofficial sources
Sorry for all these questions .....

You can always flash the hboot unofficial, cid must be supported to do that. And as i said before this also is a choice only you can make
Well I tried custom firmware after successfully unlocking my HTC One X. It says Unlocked but S-ON so not sure whats going on there? But since S-On I cannot change the CID as get the error (status read failed (too many links)) MY CID is H3G_001 and since I rooted my phone refuses to let me upgrade to OTA Jellybean which is frustrating forcing custom firmware.
Without updating CID I got stuck in a bootloop at least I guess it was as it was just stuck on the quitely brilliant screen for 20 minutes before I shut it off and tried another firmware which did the same. I am now in the process of a Nandroid recovery so I can at least use the phone. Three have a ton of bloatware which sucks. But I gotta stick with it as cannot figure out why it wont let me flash.. All help is appreciated. This phone is alot harder to flash than my HTC Desire which was a breeze.

you cannot s-off the one x, all you have done is unlock the bootloader which will allow you to flash clockwork recovery and flash su etc.
Unlocked s-on is normal.
Unlocking has nothing to do with s-off
At present there is no way to change your cid.
2x errors have occurred here
Ota updates fail after rooting if you leave the custom recovery on there.
You needed to unlock. Flash or boot custom recovery.
Flash supersu binaries
Flash stock recovery
Then boot ROM.
That way it would have been rooted and still allow ota updates.
You have made things worse by flashing the firmware.zip
By flashing the firmware you have updated your hboot. Probably to 1.36
Which will no longer work for the ICS ROM that is on your phone.
You need to find a nandroid backup for jellybean for your cid.
Just switching to PC to find you some links
ok looked more into it
you should still be able to boot after restoring your nandroid.
dont forget to pull the boot.img from your backup and reflash it as flashing the firmware will have put the JB boot.img on
you will want to restore the stock recovery which you can find in the firmware.zip once you have restored your backup
reboot into your rom and do the OTA that way

I restored from my nandroid and its working fine, all back to 4.0.4 with the phone unlocked I used CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip when i rooted my phone (or at least im sure I did as I did root over 6 months ago now).
So how would I go about updating to a custom firmware then?? Instead of the OTA as would prefer to get rid of the bloatware as half the apps aren't even English..
If you want a custom ROM
Try looking at something like latest android revolution HD
Very similar to stock but no bloat.

Okay thanks for that but how do I get it to work with my CID is what I would like to know do I have to first get OTA jellybean working then a custom firmware to update the CID? It seems a little confusing.. I listed my CID in first post but like I also said all custom firmwares I tried Viper X 3.3.4 and skydragon both left me with a phone stuck on boot screen for 20 minutes until i gave up and just turned off.
Your cid is irrelevant for anything except going to stock.
Custom ROMs arnt dependent on cid.
But they are dependent on hboot versions.
Cm10 ROMs will not work on any hboot>1.12
Any sense jellybean ROMs or ROMs with 3.1 kernels need a hboot version of at least 1.23
Couldn't saw viperx ROM but dragon is based on 3.17 so your hboot has to be minimum of 1.23
After installing the custom ROM you did flash the boot.IMG in fastboot didn't you?

where i get the boot.img? I think i may have missed that part *duh* OKAY nm found that hboot is 1.12 need to update... Updating the Hboot means I have to go back to stock right? Then update OTA to get Hboot update then I can get JB..

You need a stock boot.img, stock recovery and a stock ICS Rom. Then you will get OTA to JB, upgrading that way your hboot. Then you can flash any custom JB Rom.
P.s. The correct boot.img is in the rom's zip folder. Every time you change the rom you should flash the proper boot.img.

Yeah problem is I need RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_H3G_UK_2.17.771.3 to go back to stock and it doesn't exist.. Anyway around the RUU exe ?
EDIT NM found I can use the nandroid method.. Giving it a shot now.
Go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
And download your matching nandroid ! Restore it including flashing the boot.img from the nandroid. After that you flash this recovery back
http://db.tt/U5CK4noo
And you are on stock again. And also able to update to JB
That did NOT work I got back to stock but without the RUU exe file it seems it will not install I loveked my phone aswell and when i try to install the OTA update i just get kicked to bootloader.
Edit didnt see above post sorry
So did it work.....I know my method works !
Sorry yeah it worked Was up till stupidly late trying to do it as I was following another method as I never saw yours (a really old one) Where I locked my phone so had to unlock etc.. Plus download that update OTA each time took 1 hour. I'm now on stock with Hboot 1.39 thankyou so much really appreciate! So now I just reflash recovery yeah? And backup nandroid then go for my custom rom?
Yes exactly !
I now have Android Revolution working perfectly and since I paid for Nova Prime I decided to go for lite after all and removed Sense thank so much for that method so much easier than the guides on here which make it sound so difficult I really was pulling my hair out!
Nice ! Glad it worked
CASE CLOSED !
Hey all,
I have an AT&T One X, CID HTC_621, Main version 2.20.502.7, hboot 1.14.0002, S-On I have unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone. I installed TWRP recovery, and made a nandroid backup of the stock rom. I then tried to flash Android Revolution. This did not flash, it hung at 30% on the installer. I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of, read every post I can find, and spent over 20 hours trying to recover this phone. I can't flash an OTA, the stock recovery, or get an RUU.exe to work. I can boot into TWRP recovery, flash Clockworkmod recovery if I want, boot to bootloader, I just can't get any ROM to install, either via fastboot or recovery. I get various errors. Is there an ruu I can flash to restore everything to factory? Please help !!
Thanks.
Wrong forum, go to the HTC one XL forum. Don't flash anything from here, you cause a severe brick !
Thanks. I should pay better attention.

We all make mistakes
I have a Htc One M8 ; s-off, hboot 3.16, running 4.4.2. CID is Roger001, unlocked boot
Problem I have is I'm trying to restore the phone to stock because I want to do OTA updates. I followed the guide to return Canadian HTC1m8 to stock - downloaded the nandroid backup, restored it, flashed a stock image through fastboot;
However, now if I try a OTA it just reboots my phone and normally stalls out on the HTC screen. Nothing gets updated . If i try a factory reset, same thing, and it won't boot into bootloader until I wait a while then restart it. My data won't work anymore and TWRP recovery has disappeared. I think my issue is i flashed the wrong recovery .img, I'm a fairly noob. Checked all the related links and can't figure it out.
Any help would be amazing.

I got an update to work, I think I had the wrong stock installed so it wouldn't work properly. Only thing now is my data isn't working, any assistance with that that could be??
Instead of trouble shooting, I would just flash this TWRP backup tested to work on Rogers M8:

See end of 1st post in above link.
It is already in lollipop. No OTA update needed.
Use latest TWRP recovery, see 2nd post in above link.
