Case suggestions? - Nexus 5 Accessories

I have the official Nexus 5 bumper case, and for the most part, I like it. I like its inconspicuous profile, I like how the cutouts are exactly right, and (call me crazy) I like how it says "Nexus" on the back.
Problem is, this case is defective. It has an issue where it has a bunch of bubbles on the back. This appeared starting about 3 months after I got it, and since I didn't buy it from the Google Play Store (I got it from Amazon, and not a marketplace seller), Google says I have no warranty, even though the people I talked to acknowledged that my case is defective.
I ended up popping the bubbles because it made my phone so awkward to hold, but it looks terrible now. Given all this, can anyone recommend a good replacement case for me? I will say upfront that I hate those cases that make it obvious that your phone has a case on it. I also don't want anything bulky.

All I got is the otter box... And I want something different. Like a wallet case.

I also spent tons of time deciding on what type of case i wanted to fit on to my nexus 5, but eventually i had the idea to go to amazon and browse cases of low price. I did this not only to avoid spending a lot, (although I gladly would have so done for a quality case to protect my phone) but I did it because big name manufacturers often overprice their accessories simply because they can.
I ended up ordering 8 cases for around 20 dollars, all of which are pretty good. My two favorite would easily have to be my Tudia Wav Hybrid, which I wouldn't recommend if you don't want a "bulky case" although I had the same approach as you, but found a very nice compromise in this case because it adds amazing protection and not too much bulk. My other favorite is the DHSHOP blue sline case which is very minimal but pretty cool looking. Kind of slippery at times though. Regardless, if you look on Amazon you can find a very nice case fitting your description for under 15, 10, or even around 1 dollar believe it or not

If you're looking for style rather than protection, I'd check out http://www.goheadcase.com/ - They are plastic but if you're like me and don't ever drop your phone (granted I did drop it out of my lap getting out of a car and it fell on concrete and not as single scratch or mark on both my phone and case), then definitely check these out. Tons of options.

The Magpul Field case is hands down my favorite case, and I've owned a ton.

This is one of my favorite cases. http://www.ebay.com/itm/26143741404...49&var=560322325499&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I have the Tech-21 Case (smoke color). Its really nice and low profile but still has a lot of protection especially from a side impact and most drops. Only downfall is its slightly expensive at 30 bucks, but I bought mine at T-Mo for 1/2 off and am absolutely in love with it

I have a Spigen case. Love it!

Case-Mate Tough Review

I picked up the Case-Mate Tough and wanted to put in a short review.
The case is great. It is built really well and is definetly an upgrade or equal to other available cases. FYI, I own the Seidio Innocase II and Rugged models.
Innocase II was great for 2 weeks and then stretched out and became unusable
Rugged was an upgrade but too bulky
The Case-Mate fits 95% perfectly. I'm OCD and rarely notice seams between the shell and the skin - if there were any noticeable fit problems I would toss the case. I give it a 95% because the volume buttons are hard to press. The power button has actually become easier to press with the rubber button.
The only downside I can think on this case is it adds more bulk than a one-piece case and the shell is a little too tacky and makes the phone hard to get out of my pocket sometimes.
I realize this is the most poorly written review ever, but I wanted to get it out there in case anyone is looking at the Case-mate. I have probably had this case longer than anyone that doesn't work at Case-Mate and it definitely looks like a reliable and well built keeper.

Indeed we can see the website pictures, but people like to see the realistic pictures of how it arrived when you reviewed it. kind of like how McDonald's shows pictures of perfect hamburgers on their menu but when you get it, it looks like a turd between two over-cooked pieces of bread.

LOL, I have a question, is the back a soft gel type or like a TPU?
I got one of these Tough Cases for my wife's iPhone 4 and she loves it. While this case is different then the iPhone 4 case its the best one I've seen to date (we have about 60 Evo's here and just about every case is being used by someone).
Yes it does add a bit of bulk but it's nothing you don't get used to right away. It's nice b/c it makes the camera lens recessed so no issues laying it flat on its back. It's a two piece deal where you put on the soft jelly like cover on first then the hard (it's not a metal type of hard so keep that in mind) cover goes on in the back. The hard cover does not offer complete protection of the top and bottom (just the corners).
The case feels very solid and it is not slippery you feel like you have a good grip without it being "clingy" to other materials. It's very easy to get on an off and the only thing you need to be mindful of is the volume up/down button. If you don't take some care it can get pinched into the slot in the hard case part.
One complaint I have about most cases is that they still allow way too much dust and crap to get into the case at the point of contact areas. This case does still allow some to get in but I'm very impressed b/c of all the cases I've compared this to it keeps the most dust/grime out (a GREAT way to see this is to put phones with different cases in a womens purse for a month! this should be a standard test).
Anyway I've very happy with the case and I'm seeing a slow but steady attrition from users of other cases going out and buying these.
Still a great case
Reason I pointed to the case-mate site for pics is because they really do have good pics/video of the case.
Unlike McDonalds, you are getting exactly what you see in the pics. The case design is well thought out and the fit is perfect. Other than a little bit of difficulty in pressing the volume buttons there are no problems in design. Access to ports is good, stand is easy to get to and balances well, and the power button is much easier to press. To be honest, the only time I have difficulty with the volume buttons is when I am in recovery mode and need to click around a lot.
PS- Its nice that they include a screen protector, but I don't think that it should effect your purchase. In my experience you need to have a couple of static protectors available if you want a good chance at a successful install. It is just too easy to mess up the install with a dust particle or something and only including one in the package is kinda asking for disgruntled customers.

Good trade!

Do I really need a flip style case or an I too paranoid?

I'm having some real trouble deciding on a case. I've never used a clip on hard case or any body glove thing for any previous phone cause some people said they damage the phone if it gets dust. I also feel a lot more safe with something covering the screen like with a flip top or a decent leather pouch.
I'm an IT tech and do mostly call out or field work so I'm not always in a hazard free office environment. Something can knock against my pocket or I'll be under a dirty desk etc.
I can fairly easily get hold of a casemate or an otterbox. is this and a screen guard enough or should I be thinking of a leather case? I can get a PDair flip style but not sure I like it from the pics I've seen. I really like the look of the zenus style ones I've seen in a few other threads. Only thing is something like that I need to order from oversea or eBay and will take a while to get to me (I'm in south Africa)
Am I just paranoid because of the screen being left bare ?

I had the barely there case on my previous Galaxy s and bought another for my s2. I only had it a day or two and thought it did not do enough to satisfy me that my phone would be protected. The corners are pretty exposed and the screen completely so.
I bought a flip over case from ebay, unable to do a link to it but if you search for
BLACK REAL LEATHER CASE FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S 2 II i9100 on ebay it will hopefully show you the one i am talking about.
It is extremely low profile, does not add much bulk at all to your phone but i feel totally confident now with my phone when out and about. Feel as if it could survive a drop from a decent height easily. I preferred this case to others as it only has a small magnetic catch at the top holding it shut (effectively) rather than a big catch overlapping and catching when i put it in my pocket. I am sure there must be something similar, closer to home for you. Good luck.
I got a PDair flip-it leather case and i'm pretty cool with it. I also put a screen protector and ta da my phone seems pretty much safe. Since the phone is really thin, i'm more confident when holding the phone with this case and it feels like i'm holding my ex phone HTC Touch HD, acceptable thickness for me. I'll upload some pic as soon as i charge my Touch HD, don't have any other camera around right now

If you're planning on using a case that effectively doubles the size of your handset while making a call you might as well just get a DynaTAC.
Get a flip style case with express shipping.
Zenus has diary series too. Highly recommended.
i got the official samsung leather flip and its very good IMO it doesnt add to much bulk aswell
I thought a Flip Top Case will be a perfect one to protect the device and purchased one, pricey one I should say, but now, after a week, I am bored, this thing is a PITA. Receiving the Case Mate Tough on Monday, won't use the current one anymore, damn protection

I decided to give this a try after reading your post. The company here does not have the otterbox cases in stock yet. The Pdair one is almost half the price anyways. If I really dont like it or feel I need something else then i'll get the otterbox also.
I also ordered an SGP oleo screen protector from the SGP store. Will post some pics when I recieve the case. Should take about 10 days.
Thanks for the advice guys!

Is there a wallet-style case for the Galaxy S3 that doesn't suck?

I'd like to combine my wallet and my phone into one thing I keep in my pocket on the go, I just need like two or three card slots at least. Ideally something that isn't a flip case as I like the notification lights and easy access to my phone - but I'm open to anything really.
I'm using this low profile case from Covert which is okay, but it doesn't fit the phone perfectly and I don't like having a flip cover as I can't really see notifications or what's going on when my phone is docked. The phone doesn't dock well with the flap flipped around.
I've seen some cases which seem to be made by a bunch of Asian companies for cheap but they get awful reviews on Amazon and seem to only hold one card - plus they look kinda cheap.
The last option I'm considering is one of these Lusio cases from Sena
It is more of a sleeve rather than a case but maybe that will work out better - having to slide the phone in and out could be annoying though - it seems like a potentially good option.
They have a similar product called the Magia Wallet which seems okay but I'd be concerned about getting my phone "sticky" as I've used similar solutions.

It's frustrating because there are tons of options out there for the iPhone that seem perfect, like the CM4 Q4 or the Speck CandyShell or the Incipio Stoaway or the (awfully named) iLid - I'm sure there are tons more as well

It seems like I started my search around the same time you did. I'm just as frustrated and looking for a case that doesn't suck! I hate have my screen covered and I'm not carrying a sleeve! I was intrigued by the same cases you mentioned but they're all for iPhone. So, I just happened across this website on kickstarter but it's already funded (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/218117984/the-bak-case-for-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii?ref=live). It's hard to tell where they are now, but they have pre-orders available at their website - http://bakcases.com/. Looks to be the coolest one I've found so far.

if you would use the NFC function, I think using cases that have slot for you to put in cards at the back of the phone is not a good idea.
The cards will affect the NFC function.

Head Case Hard Back Case's for Note 10.1

Anyone hear of Head Case Hard Back Case's??? They are in the UK and make cases for many devices including the Galaxy Note 10.1
They are selling on Ebay with free shipping, prices are from $7.95 to $10.95 us., for that price I may take a risk on one or two,
Here are a few examples of the hard back cases, they have 100's to choose from.

I still have not, it just not a priority as I'm happy with the cases that I have now. But I am very curious of the quality myself.
.
I have bought a couple for my gf's note1 and my razr phone. The case is so so, and the sides of the case are white despite the design of the back being colored.
I Bunch of cool designs wish they have a front protector built in to protect the screen when not in use

I did order one, it took about 10 days for delivery to USA from the UK.
I got the purple one shown above, it is very thin with the bottom and top edge completely open.
The sides wrap around the front to attach the case. The design coating on the back feels tacky and less likely to slip from your hand.
The inside of the hard back is white and the right and left sides have a strip that is about 3/16 that is also white.
Did not expect much for the price, and I probably got my moneys worth.

Would you say this is decent enough protection for while it's in use, and should still be put in a sleeve or other case when tossed in a bag?
Do you happen to also have the keyboard dock? If not, does it appear to add too much thickness to be able to dock while still protected? That's my only complaint about my folio case, is having to remove it from the holder whenever I want to use the keyboard dock. I figure it's only a matter of time before the case holder snaps or something from the constant in/out

There is no screen cover or protection. You would have to use a sleeve to travel with it. I do not have a keyboard dock but it may work.
I use it when at home while playing racing games, my 360 case is just to bulky and awkward when playing these types of games. I don't have to worry about setting in down for a few minutes on a hard surface if I need to take a call or something like that. I also have a jelly case that just covers the back but this one is much thinner. It is about 3/64 of an inch thick.

Oneplus One Official Clear Case thoughts

I wish they would have spent more money in the case instead of the box it came in. My thoughts after getting it.. The plastic is very flimsy and cheap and the fit is NOT snug. The case feels very slippery and loose like your either going to drop it because you cannot grip it or eventually it will slide out of the case. I'm very happy with the phone but the clear case is far from good.
My thoughts exactly for the Official OnePlus One Protective Case...which is the same as Clear Case.
See my post in the other topic.
Mine fits well but I completely agree about the not so sure grip of it.
I really love this clear case! Mine fits perfectly. No wiggle room at all. I guess I'm used to the grip as well.

I'm not a fan of the official case because it doesn't provide any protection, but I haven't experienced issues with the fit or cracking. I remember reading a post by an OPO rep on the OP forums in which he said that delays in restocking their cases were the result of further QC implementation. I'm not saying that's definitely the reason yours fell apart and mine didn't (in the two weeks I used it before receiving a Diztronic case), but I am saying that it might be.
Many other people have reported the same issue as you, so it's clear that it affected a number of people.
I own the orange official case because the clear wasn't available, so that might be a factor in which batches ours came from as well.
At this point, people shouldn't have to rely on the official cases now that the Diztronic and the Tudia are both available. Seidio is considering putting out cases for the OPO as well; you can request the Seidio case you'd prefer on their Product Request page.
I'm sure at some point in the near future we will have more choices on lots of covers. I hope we will see 3rd party custom style swap back covers too. I think I will hold off till then.
The official cases for the One look very similar to what Oppo was shipping for the Find 5's back when I got one. They also cracked at the corners and were flimsy as hell and overpriced. I'd say they just took what Oppo was doing and thought why fix what isn't broken (ie people buy them anyway)
Go with the Pelosi case. Can't go wrong with it.

I haven't noticed any indications of 'weak spots' in the polycarbonate (where it might break) and the case fits around my OnePlus One just fine, contrary to other's experiences with this case.
As for the feel of it: it's very smooth yet not slippery at all (again, contrary to other's findings).
As you can see, it is a bit scratched up because of it being moved around on a table and/or putting it in my bag, but I think that's okay. It kind of indicates it's being used and adds a bit of character.

Does it have a lip to raise the screen off a table etc? Like the diztronic?
It does, but it's not that large. Note that I also have a tempered glass screen protector installed so the glass actually sits on top now.
