Hi all. I have a Telus One M8 that i recently converted to GPE using the non rooted GPE 4.4.4 RUU. Since converting I have noticed poor LTE reception. I have done some digging and found out that the GPE M8 does not support the 1700Mhz bands. Unfortunately Telus uses 1700Mhz for much of their LTE coverage. To fix this it should be as easy as flashing the correct Telus supported radio, correct? In the process of converting I changed the CID to GOOGL001 in order to receive the upcoming 5.0 update. In order to flash a different radio on the GPE RUU I will have to SuperCID? Which will then not allow me to take the 5.0 OTA update (most likely)? Just want to make sure I am correct in that I will have to choose between a Radio img that supports 1700mhz, or being able to accept the 5.0 OTA update.
Also, once the GPE RUU was flashed, do I have to go back and "fastboot oem unlock" the bootloader, or does it stay unlocked? Currently when I boot into fastboot the pink banner at the top says unlocked, I just want to make sure im not needlessly wiping my data.
I have tried searching (both in the GPE RUU thread, and the Canadian thread), but everytime I search within a thread I get "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." even on terms that i know would come up in a search
Thanks for the Help!

So after spending several hours figuring out and successfully switching my M8 to GPE i found out that my carrier does not support the correct frequencies to allow me to use LTE (carrier is sasktel in canada) my carrier uses 1700/2100
All major carriers (Bell, MTS, Rogers, SaskTel, Telus) are using AWS Band 4 on 1700/2100

is there any way i can flash just the radio on my now stock GPE and still have the rest remain as is on stock 4.4.4?
other question is would it be possible or rather how difficult would it be to go back to fresh out of the box status ie: back to the sense stuff if i cant use just the correct radio

What model HTC?
I assume your S-off if you've fully converted to GPE ?
Search "radio collection for HTC one m8" in your browser and you can also search how to go back to stock from GPE conversion.
yeah i am S-off and currently using the ATT 1.16 radio i found in the radio thread here but that does not get me to the LTE i tried a radio.img from a bell firmware pack but i didn't get any service when i flashed it so went back to the ATT one
it is an HTC one M8 with superCID but the original CID is SASKT001

"Fresh out of the box"?
You did make a nandroid before you modded anything LIKE IT SAYS ON ANY ROM OR MOD THREAD ON THIS SITE IN STEP #1, right?
My lesson to you is:
Read and follow instructions. They are there for a reason.
Good luck with your issue.
I'm not joking when I say I hope you get it fixed.
But seriously, protect yourself. That's what backups do.
If you screw something up, you have something to go back to.
This is said in EVERY thread. For a reason.
I have a semilar question, is it possible to flash a sense radio over the gpe Edition, the gpe radio don't support german lte bands, thx

You can flash any radio you want to test/use and if in your opinion it works for you than keep running it
Hey everybody! So some quick background info, I just got an M8 and was excited to start playing with it. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP, and set off to try out some roms. Something I quickly realized was that without updating my phones firmware, I wouldn't be able to make the change from 4.4.2 based roms without encountering some issues. It seems the two ways to do that are an OTA update or s-off and flash it yourself.
So I restored the original rom backup I made, flashed the stock recovery back on (tried 1.58.502.1 and 1.12.502 when the first didn't work) and relocked the bootloader. It still doesn't detect any updates from AT&T's software updater.
The phone is from AT&T and I'm on Cricket's network.
Software number 1.58.502.1
CID: CWS__001
Any help or suggestions are much appreciated. If there's any pertinent information that I didn't include let me know. Thanks in advance.
You need to be connected to AT&T's network to get OTAs. Some folks on here that aren't specifically familiar with AT&T (and don't use them as a carrier) will say that isn't true, that you can OTA on WiFi or on another carrier. But AT&T is the oddball in this regard (at least compared to "international" version owners - not that sure about other US carriers).
You can update to 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 by official RUU (need to relock the bootloader to RUU since you are s-on). But you won't be able to update to 5.0 firmware unless you s-off at this time, since AT&T hasn't released Lollipop yet. Rumor says end of this month, but its just a rumor.
RUUs are linked on my AT&T-specific Index thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751432
If you want to s-off (sunshine is the only method) you can then manually update the firmware (including LP firmware). Or even "convert" to another carrier version (such as US Developer's Edition) and then get OTAs.
Thanks for the information! I'll go give that a try now.
Hello. I have a AT&T branded HTC One M8. No longer with ATT , the device is unlocked and being currently used with T-Mobile. Everything works fine. I went back to KitKat since not a big fan of lollipop since couldn't get battery life to be as excellent as KK. I did the 4.4.4 RUU for ATT and flash CM11 and everything worked perfectly, except signal. The signal drops so much to where in places that I normally had 4G LTE in I would drop to emergency calls only. But only going to kitkat. Whenever I was on Lollipop my signal was perfect, I'd use the latest ATT RUU for M8, then go to somewhere like LeeDroid. So after that rant, Can I use the T-Mobile RUU, or could someone point out a specific radio that I could use with Kitkat on T-Mobile network to where signal ought to work?
I would suggest the T-Mob RUU for best performance on the T-Mob network.
You'll need s-off, and then change to the T-Mob CID and MID to run the T-Mob RUU. Also, no need to relock the bootloader to RUU once you've done s-off.

Do I still need to if I'm Super CID? Also currently on Skydragon, used on of their modified firmware for T-Mobile. Seems to be working good. But still suggest to go ahead with what you stated?

If you are on the Lollipop T-Mob US firmware and Skydragon, you should be good to go. Do you have any signal issues with this setup?
To answer your CID questions (just as FYI, or in case you end up wanting to run T-Mob RUU), SuperCID will satisfy (pass) the CID check. But you still would need to change to the T-Mob MID (model ID). MID is a separate check from CID. You need to pass both to run the RUU.

Alrighty! Thanks for the MID info. My signal seems to be a lot better. I always was on HSPA+ with full bars, now getting around 2-3 bars of LTE. So cant complain about that since I live a little outside of town. Thank you for you assistance!
I want to install CM13 on my M8, but before I do, I need to upgrade to mm baseband. I'm not sure which version to download, though since my m8 is att I assume GPE would be compatible, since they are both gsm. following the link in this thread did not work, Dead link.

Can anyone tell me if gpe baseband will be compatible, and link to a download for me?

You should use the baseband that supports the bands needed for your carrier (AT&T?). GPE baseband is best suited for T-Mobile.
If you are on the AT&T network, just flash the RUU intended for your AT&T M8 to update the baseband. RUU will wipe phone, so backup accordingly before RUU.
I'm on metro pcs, a subsidiary of T-Mobile. so then gpe should work, right?
I've read here of people converting their non GPE edition to GPE..and then being able to go back to Sense... I'd be interested in doing the opposite.. Go to sense and have the option to go back to GPE... Is this doable? Downloaded this "RUU_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_6.12.1540.4" ... Is this what I need? and if so also should I update firmware? I helped my dad upgrade to Marshmallow on ATT&T branded phone but his would not work until we updated firmware. If firmware needs updating can a kind soul provide a link?
+1
You need S-OFF for converting it.

That RUU would be one possibility to "convert" to Sense. But as already stated, you need s-off (sunshine is the only working method - $25 US), and you need to change your CID to flash that RUU (possibly change MID also, but probably not).
You may or may not need to flash firmware first. Sometimes the Marshmallow RUU will flash if the phone already has Marshmallow firmware. But since it's a different MM firmware (and GPE at that), you may need to flash the firmware 6.12.1540.4 before the RUU will work. Error 155 when trying to flash the RUU will typically indicate you need to flash the firmware. You can get the firmware here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60218734&postcount=5
Also note that flashing the RUU will change radio baseband, and therefor the frequency band support. That RUU is the US Dev Edition, which has the same band support as the AT&T version M8. And that is different from the band support on the GPE version. So depending on your region/carrier, that may or may not affect your band reception.
