Hello
I'm selling my HTC One M8. Currently the bootloader is unlocked, rooted, s-off and using super CID. The guy that wants to buy it is using a different carrier and my phone is locked to my carrier. Will the super CID unlock it for any carrier, and still function after bootloader is locked, unrooted and s-on?
Thanks!

Can anybody tell me if the giffgaff SIM unlock tool works or do I need to buy a code ?

The only way to unlock is via a s-off bootloader. If you pm me a link to giffgaff unlock too I will have a look. I am on giffgaff and it worked with my DHD before I unlocked mine.
My DHD was with orange. So the chances are if you have a CID of HTC__001 it will work without a code or unlock tool.

Lies. You don't need S-OFF for SIM unlock.

S-OFF and simunlock are different. You can always sim unlock your device with the IMEI code provided by your carrier without even being S-OFF. The fact is that everyone relates S-OFF to sim unlock because both are gained by gfree exploit.
I suggest reading first all the possible documentation / information to avoid misleading posts or suggestions.
I bought a Verizon HTC one today that doesn't fully boot up. It has tampered in the bootloader so I assume the person relocked it.
Question is, is there an RUU for a locked S-on ONE? Is there anyway to unlock the bootloader and reflash anything or is this thing truly a brick? From what I've read the S-off procedure requires the phone to boot up.
Thanks
Todd

there is one but you have to be s-off in order to use it! the reason is that it is an unencrypted or encrypted! i think they will have the ruu when 4.3 officially drops
The RUU you seek can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47693710

OMG Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! I was sweating big time! This was the key
I have rooted my M8 but it is still locked to vodafone (uk). What I want to do is get the phone to update with the latest android 4.4.3. (UK)
I have tried to get S-off using Firewater but did not work for me (like I see for a few others). In order to remove branding and have an unlocked (stock) HTC do I need to pay for S-off via sunshine or am I going about this incorrectly?
thanks for any help

My phone is currently branded to Vodafone (CID VODAP001) will the guide work? (I notice the guide says for returning an unbranded, European One M8_UL to stock)

HTC__01 or HTC__001? The latter is correct, the former incorrect
And yes it'll work

Hi All!
Just returning to the world of flashing after being with Verizon for so long. I have recently switched to T-Mobile, and have been using my unlocked AT&T. Other than S-Off and an unlocked bootloader I haven't looked too much into flashing yet.
I have been reading the forums and it seems as though the GSM version of the HTC M8 are relatively interchangeable. This got me thinking, I am able to make the necessary changes to CID & MID to match the T-Mobile version, and then convert using a T-Mobile RUU?
Thanks!

Thank you! Just wanted to confirm - that is the exact thread I reviewed.
Just do supercid and use tmo ruu.
Wait... so I just need to switch the CID to the "supercid" and I don't worry about the MID and just flash the Tmo RUU?
(it's been a LONG time since I've been on a HTC device...)
Hello. I recently got a new m8. So I was researching and I found that there was a tool called firewater that is not available anymore. Is there any other way to get s-off. Also can someone link me to how to unlock bootloader. Which one do I have to do first, s-off or unlock bootloader? thanks.
hint :
sunshine
If you have a Verizon varrant, the only way for either is sunshine from @jcase, all other variants should be oem unlockable through htc dev. Sunshine is easier and faster.
But 25$, worth it.

I have an At&t version. What's the fastest and most efficient way to get s off. My bootloader is already unlocked with a twrp recovery.
