If I flash a GPE firmware on a sense firmware, I'll have to format data partitions and then install a gpe rom?
Well you don't have to do a gpe conversions to use some gpe Roms you'll find in the forums. I think skydragon can be used with HTC partitions and GPE converted phones.
It works on gpe but you have to update firmware, sense firmware you just treat it like a normal ROM

I'm curious on how to go about converting my M8 GPE to stock Sense (i.e. no custom ROM, just stock).
I've seen the method that involves flashing the firmware and custom ROM, but is there a way to get it to be identical to a Developer Edition with OTAs?
I read some stuff from May that said the RUU for the Sense M8 hasn't been released yet, but it's 2 months later now.
Thanks!
EDIT: I did this by changing CID and MID to developer edition, and restoring the Nandroid backup from TWRP for the Dev edition in the resource page for M8 stock Nandroids
Hi, just a question that I couldn't quite find the answer to.
Is it safe for me to switch between AOSP, GPE and Sense ROMs if I'm S-On with unlocked bootloader? I remember reading before that you can convert to GPE RUU which adjusts the partitions but you need to be S-Off to do that and just flashing a GPE ROM wouldn't do it (and I can't remember/find where I read it from). I'm not so sure about flashing AOSP (interested cause of the new BMFR ROM by mrjaydee) and switching back to a Sense/stock ROM later on.
Basically, can I switch to an AOSP ROM and then back to a Sense ROM without issue?
Details:
S-On, Unlocked Bootloader
Stock -> ARHD 11.1 -> Sinless 3.6.0 -> Elix-R 1.2.1 -> Elix-R 1.2.2
You're good as long as you don't convert to GPE. Flashing the GPE roms are fine but full converting is what you don't wanna do in your case. Just flash the sense/aosp/GPE roms normally.

If I flash the gpe firmware, so I can use skydragon without bugs, is it just a case of reflashing sense firmware to get back to sense ?
I know partitions are changed when flashing gpe firmware, so I just want to be sure that EVERYTHING is changed back when flashing back to sense.
Cheers

looking to move over to either asop or gpe from sense im s-on with latest firmware can i just flash as normal either of these rom types or will i need to adjust to a different firmware ?
You can flash the roms, but to actually covert to GPE, you'll need to be s-off.
You also need the latest firmware for most up to date roms. ?
The M8 will need to be updated to the new 5.0.1 firmware to use latest Sense ROMS,
for AOSP you can use any firmware 3.x and up.
On the GPE Firmware you will need S-OFF as the change in partitions are locked in
S-ON.

Huh... There is a GPE rom on the sprint forum. When I was s-on I flash the rom then flash the kernel in fastboot. I was on latest firmware but not sure if that had something to do
Yeah, there might be a ROM but the full conversion to GPe requires S-OFF
You can use the GPE Rom Easily, without S-OFF it's like any other AOSP ROM.
But if you want to fully convert it to a GPE Edition, you'll need S-OFF.
The problem with the GPE ROMs/Conversion is that
the HTC File Manager cannot load SD Card Tab (You can't modify anything in the SDCard without rooting it after wards).
And the HTC Camera no longer works on GPE , it used to work before without root.
I guess HTC Ruined the Non-Sense variants again.
I have a Sprint HTC One M8 and I am thinking about converting it into a Sprint HTC One M8 GPE. My only question is can I use the Sense RUU (off the HTC developer website) to restore it back to stock. The reason I ask this is will the Stock RUU still work with the GPE bootloader and recovery?

If you flash GPE firmeare, you can't flash sense ROMs. GPE uses a smaller system partition. Sense needs like 1.5GB and GPE only uses about 1GB. But if you flash a sense RUU it should flash the sense firmware which would give you the proper partition sizes.

You don't convert a Sprint M8 to GPE. You just flash a GPE ROM onto it. That won't change any partition sizes. The GPE "conversion" won't work on a CDMA M8.

Why won't a GPE conversion work? Couldn't I do the GPE conversion then flash the Sprint GPE ROM?

Because it's a different variant. Stock GPE won't even boot on a Sprint M8. That's why the ROM has to be ported in the first place. Once you convert, the ports likely won't even fit because they're made for the standard (Sense) partition size.
