The updates are totally different
But will it solve the no WiFi problem? For example, Insertcoin 5.0.4 is based on firmware 3.28... Since I'm S-On, and my current firmware is not even 3 (idk how to check for the firmware), I will encounter WiFi problems. Will flashing the Asian firmware 3.32 solve the WiFi problem in Insertcoin or any other 3.28 based Rom?

Yes ... you need the 3.xx.xxx.x firmware. Doesn't matter if it is 3.28 or 3.29 or 3.32 as long as it is 3.xx.xxx.x
For your case, you need 3.32.708.4 then all the WiFi problem will be gone.
Example, I'm on 3.32.707.9 firmware which is 3.xx.xxx.x - I can flash any 4.4.4 and 5.0 based ROM with no WiFi problem.

So I have the unlocked HTC One M8 Asian variant, im rooted with unlocked bootloader and S-On. CWM Recovery.
I am now running CM11 on 4.4.4 and I want to go and try some Sense 6 based custom ROMS like Viper or InsterCoin.
Do I HAVE TO update my firmware in order to do so? What is exactly the firmware and how can I know what i'm running right now?
Any good tutorial in order to update firmware while S-On or guide to install sense based rom without updating firmware?

Usually the WI-FI problem happens when you dont have the proper base build which is 4.16.xxx something that can be found on your phone, youll need to get an OTA update from your carrier in order to be able to enjoy ROMS that have a different base

Custom recoverys cant process OTA updates, so you will need a stock reocvery or to download the OTA zip file that corresponds to you and then you will be able to update via the RUU

You will receive OTA when there is one available.
Whether you can successfully install the OTA or not is depend whether you have a non-rooted stock ROM with nothing changed or not.

can you estimate any specific date for android 6.0 update coz i didn't received stagefright patch via OTA
No idea, only HTC can tell.
You can read/join this thread .. someone will advise when OTA is available there.

@ckpv5 I have HTC one M8 Hong Kong and I stay in India will I get update when Indian region will get update or will I get update when Hong Kong region will get update....???
When Hong Kong get the update, doesn't matter where you are.
Hi there.I have an HTC Desire Eye AT&T on lollipop.
Sadly AT&T won't update it to official marshmallow.
I wanted to flash S ROM (Custom ROM) but it requires Marshmallow firmware,is there anyway i can update my firmware ? or i can flash the ROM without updating the firmware ?
my device is S-ON.

Just flash the rom. Even if u on lollipop. No worries. Rom already includes the latest fw.

firstly sorry if this has been answered as i did a few searches but am that out of date now.
I'm currently on LeeDroiD 10 v3.0.0 Beta 3 and still on the old MM firmware.
Last time i was following the threads religiously there was an issue with TWRP not working for the new Nougat firmware (hence why i never updated).
My question now is what is the best way for me to go to the new firmware, TWRP (if it even works wiith the latest firmware) and newest ROM base (of any Nougat ROM as i always keep changing lol).

Hey Roshi,
You can flash Viper 10 4.5 (http://venomroms.com/viper10-downloads/), which is an Android N ROM, and it works on Android M firmware (e.g. 1.95.401.4).
Otherwise you could flash this RUU first: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/wwe-htc-10-stock-rom-ruu-2-28-401-9-t3525075
It will update your firmware to Android N: 2.28.401.9, and then flash Viper10 4.5. However, it is being said that this RUU was leaked, and therefore it is not the final version that HTC will release to the public, hence it will never receive OTAs.
P.S. I never heard of TWRP not working on this firmware, so I assume it works just fine.

Thank a lot for the reply. I am running LeeDroid Nougat tom on MM firmware currently.
Was just enquiring weather everything is now in place to upgrade properly to Nougat firmware .
