When I play YouTube videos from my phone, there's no cast option for the Fire TV. There's an option for Chromecast but no option for the Fire TV.
Casting had worked on a previous router and network. It's not working on my new router and network though. Is there something I need to enable in order to get casting to work?

Anyone?
Download the youtube app for FireTV, but from youtube !!!
Then start youtube (Fire TV) und go to settings, then pair your phone with the app.
On your Phone go to
Youtube.com/pair and insert the numbers
I'm able to cast to the Fire TV Stick but not the Fire TV. I also see that the Fire TV is missing an app named "WFD Client." I'm assuming this controls casting ability. Can anyone with a Fire TV confirm if they can still cast without loading the Fire TV YouTube app first?
I understand what you are trying to do, but I'll give you an alternative. If you have XBMC installed, install the pushbullet addon, then you can send videos or any media to your Fire TV instantly. The good thing is that you can send videos from your browser or any other app that shares and you do not have to worry about being conncted to the same router, cause it is all done using your Gmail account. I guess some people still do not know what pushbullet is, but its basically a service to share things between your devices instanly through your email account. All you have to do is install the pushbullet app on your device, signin with your gmail and then you can recieve or send things to and from all your devices that have pushbullet installed.

I don't use YouTube TV but I heard it works if you navigate to the web page using the Silk Browser.
I use AirReceiver to cast to mine. It costs a few bucks, but it is the only one i have found to work.

Hello,
Currently on Fire TV that is rooted with XBMC installed with multiple add-ons. I've used multiple DNS services to let me watch my home team. The service works fine on my PC, and Nexus 7 2013. It even worked on my Fire TV on XBMC with MLBMC video add-on. The main reason I purchased the Fire TV was to use the MLB app to watch my home team.
I know I'm able to watch it using my Fire TV with XMBC MLBMC video add-on, however it's rather bare-bone workaround to use the service I'm already paying for. My question is how is the MLB app on the Fire TV detecting my location? I know that DNS is working by verifying XBMC and Netflix, but how is the MLB app on Fire TV detecting my location?
I would really appreciate the help given my friend who also has Fire TV really love baseball too, but using the XBMC is kind of pain for them to setup. Please help? I figure this would be the only place with a community being able to come up with a possible answer/solution?

I am going to start a new thread because I was trying to test something that I figure is happening on Netflix. The Netflix streams look like garbage, and then I can stream Amazon Instant and it looks beautiful. So somewhere there is a bottleneck on Netflix and I think if I run it through my VPN it will improve the quality.
My VPN is through private internet access and they have a simple android app that you just click connect and it works. But you can change the location of where it is connecting and that would probably help with your MLB issue because without GPS I think that's the only way they can tell where you are streaming. I used to spoof on MLB and set a fake GPS point in Mexico to get access to all of the games. But I think the VPN would work for that as well.
Long story short I side-loaded the app and it didn't work. So I'm going to see if anyone else can help.
Some ISP's throttle Netflix. It's the whole net neutrality thing goin on.

Use xposed and XPrivacy . Works for my cellphone (Huge battery drain though because leaves GPS constantly running) but i havent attempted that on the fire yet. What mlb version are you using? the google play or amazon fire tv version?

Most likely, MLB is picking up your location from your IP address.
You might be able to test this by using your cell phone to temporarily provide bandwidth the FTV - my cell phone, at least, winds up looking to websites as if it's about 60 miles away from the house, two counties south.
Using a VPN to connect from an IP in a different state should work if that's how the location is being determined. If the app comes from the Amazon appstore there's a low risk that the app is using an address Amazon has on file for its location determination.
Try sideload EasyOvpn and OpenVPN Connect.
Search in EasyOvpn different contry and open the configuration with openvpn. I try to by pass other service in my tablet and work.

OpenVPN is what Private Internet Access uses to connect on Android and I can say that it did not connect for me. I have a thread open in the help section also but the only way it can tell on Amazon where you are is your IP. That's why people in other countries use a US VPN to stream stuff. We just need a VPN to work on the fire to get around location and throttling.

Just tried this app. I actually get past the blackout restriction and launches the video media player screen. However, video does not play and just get the video buffering screen with the video not loading.

I managed to get it to work but really cumbersome.
1. Installed/Sideloaded "Hola Better Internet" for Fire TV.
2. Open "Hola Better Internet" and click Unbocker (requres a mouse)
3. Click on "MLB.com At Bat" and change to any country other than U.S./Canada
4. Make sure Unblocker is "On"
Here is the kicker though. If you have "Hola Better Internet" on before you open MLB.TV app, the games/calendar will now show up. So you have to have the switch "Unblocker Button" off when you first launch MLB.TV app.
So here is how I got it to work:
1. Launch "Hola Better Internet" and make sure "Unblocker" switch is "off'
2. Launch MLB.TV app.
3. Hit the "Home Screen" button on your Fire TV remote since you don't want to exit the app.
4. Now go to "Hola Better Internet" and have "Unblocker" switch "On"
5. Hit "Home Screen" button again
6. Relaunch MLB.TV app.
7. Launch your home team
Again, this this was all done with DNS service such as Ad-Free time.
This is what I gather from all the tinkering. "MLB.com At Bat" service is what checks your location. I remember getting my Nexus 7 2013 to work, I had to modify this file/service. So if you have the "MLB.com At Bat" check your location while spoofing to another country, it will completely shut you out from the video feed service. I'm assuming the "Hola Better Internet" switches the handshake/verication once you have the calendar of all the games on your screen. Finally once you do click on the your team, it checks the DNS.
So I'm hoping somehow that "MLB.com At Bat" can be modified or somehow have a more seamless workaround.

Is it working without toggling even after you rebooted? I used this method on my Samsung s5 and got it working too. Only problem is you can't cast it on a Chromecast because it checks the Chromecast IP and tells me its been blacklisted.

Somewhat. I'll have to test out again when the games are being blackout. How do you have it setup? Is this for your Fire TV or Chromecast?
Weird part about it is that at least one of the games was being blackout which was no where near my area.

You need a mouse and Fire tv remote
1.) Install Xposed and Xprivacy (if mlb was already installed remove it and dont install it till step 3)
2.) open xposed, modules and check xprivacy, reboot fire tv
3.) install mlb tv (FireTv Version) and sign in with your account, close mlb tv premium
4.) Go into XPrivacy (will give you two errors, ignore them), then go in the MLB TV settings (Use mouse and click on the MLB TV icon)
5.) You will see a list of permissions, tap the menu button on your fire remote and go into Settings.
6.) Press the "Randomize now" button and it will generate a bunch of fake information.
7.) Find the IP address field and put in a fake IP from far away. (i used an IP in Japan)
8.) You can restrict all permissions except for Internet and it will work fine.
9.) Install hola
10.) configured hola
11.) Works
12.) Open MLB (you will get a message asking for permissions from xprivacy) i checked the enhance checkbox and allowed every request.
13.) choose the game you wish to view, allow all requests as well
14.) Play Ball!!!
I'm sorry if it's somewhat irrelevant, but will this method work with Hulu & Netflix? (assuming I do have a paying account)

Did you happen to disable any apps? Either through the application manager or block them through adb from the guide in the other sections?
I had the caller name ID app disabled. Could that be causing it? I re-enabled it and still no luck
Are you able to open the Chromecast app and does it find your Chromecast? If the Chromecast app does not find it, it may be more of an issue with your Chromecast losing connection to your wireless network.
If Chromecast does not open, uninstall and reinstall the app from the Play Store.
If it still doesn't work after that, report back and we'll look deeper.
Yes, the app finds my chromecast and I can connect to it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the chromecast app with no luck.
The problem I am having is the cast icon is not appearing in my other apps like Netflix and you tube, etc.
Might take a look here; specifically post 83 and 84, however the entire page is regarding a disappearing chromecast icon.
Also, here.
Why don't you just mirror the phone to the tv. That what I do then I run whatever app I want on phone while mirroring on tv.
Then run YouTube or Netflix on phone and it plays on tv.
Same thing happened to me today. I couldn't get the icon on the Avia app. It does however show up when I go to Youtube. Weird.

Don't you lose the second screen experience by doing that since you're basically just mirroring what's on your phone to the TV? One of the best things about Chromecast is that you cast the video to your TV, then you can use your phone as a second screen, like adding Youtube videos to a queue (a playlist of sorts).
It don't bother me not like I'm in a rush to see next video. Just another option till issue is resolved.
I live in Italy and to buy the fire tv stick I should resort to amazon germany. However, before making the purchase I would understand if I can be useful. Let me know if I can connect, via wifi, with the browsers of tv stick to the sites that show the sport in clear and if I can connect to the sites which broadcast streaming tv series.
I would avoid to connect to the sites with the tablet and then transmitt , with google Chromecast, program on TV. Is it possible with fire tv stick?

Get Kodi, as far as I know I reckon about 90% of people who have a fire tv stick use Kodi on it to stream Movies/tv/sports/soaps/music on. Look it up It's pretty easy to put it onto as well, plus you don't need to root/unlock it to use it ether. Hope this helps.

Probably not, depends on the site and what browser you use. Kodi however, will have access to live sports if you look in the right places.
For Kodi from an Android device to Chromecast, I believe you can get an app called Kodicast for this (or just mirror - but laggy.)
Edit:
I misread your question about Chromecast. The Fire Stick does support mirroring from an Android device via Miracast, so yes you should be able to stream content from the tablet to the Fire Stick. Although you will find almost everything you need within Kodi.

If you have the right stuff on your phone or tablet you can mirror it to your AFTV, like before I was watching American content (which was blocked in the UK) on Kodi using a VPN on my phone which was being mirrored via my Amazon Fire Tv stick on my telly. If you've not tried Kodi yet dont wait any longer.... You won't be sorry

The fire tv stick does not have a native "browser" to enter an address. However, you can sideload a browser(chrome or ]firefox) and try it. But if you sideload Kodi, you can install addons that can stream Rojadirecta.

Hi Gulluwing
You can use Firefox as a browser. But it's not very comfortable to access the streams (mousesupport needed via app on smartphone). Also you need to install acestream support. Not sure if this works. But i will try
For Italian TV Shows and movies i recommend this App: KUIU. Don't search in Play Store. You won't find it.
To install easily apps on your fire TV Stick use following App which you can download from Play Store: Apps2fire.
I prefer a premium IPTV provider and a app called LazyIPTV. I'm also using a synology nas so i'm hooked up to my box with DS Video. I just miss a VPN functionality.

i will try and test it out but google casting is very tempermental for me
sometimes i get a message saying no devices in the chrome icon for tab cast while the youtube one is working and or vice versa i will have to test it out with with all 3 apps amazon youtube, sideload youtube and kodi
using the standard "blue" youtube app, it does not appear at all in my casting list, i have 2 fire tv boxes (gen 1 and 2) and they both have vanished from casting, very annoying. its not my phone or the youtube app on my phone as it still casts fine to chromecast (as you would expect) but it apears now to have been disabled on the Fire TV
I forgot to block OTA updates so I'm on the latest firmware (5.2.6.3). From the many hours of googling I've done it seems it can't be rooted right now. I'm hoping somebody tells me I'm wrong there. I fudged some stuff up so I did a factory reset so I'm working from a pretty much clean install.
My main complaint really is that I hate the launcher and the UI. It's soooooo slow and clunky from the get go. I saw ways of uninstalling bloat ware and using a different launcher, but they were only for older firmware or other FTV devices. I'm totally fine with losing any Amazon apps. Nothing against Amazon I just don't need those apps.
I looked into casting instead because I saw how awesomely smooth and easy the Chromecast is to use and I really regret not getting a Chromecast. I feel like I've tried every casting receiver on the play store, and a few that weren't, with very little success. I can really only cast YouTube with AirScreen.
The Netflix app on my phone acts like it can cast to the firestick right out of the package. But when I hit the cast button on my phone it opens Netflix and loads the user selection screen. Then I have to use the remote to pick the user and the thing I wanted to watch. Defeating the purpose. It's pretty much the same story for every app that that allows me to cast to the firestick.
Sorry for writing a novel full of dumb rookie questions. I've spent a lot of time trying a lot of stuff with no success at all. I just want this thing to work better somehow. Right now I kinda wanna just install Kodi and sell it as jailbroken so I can get a Chromecast.
To cast YouTube use this app
YouTube App
Goto YouTube settings on both fire tv app & your YouTube app on phone & select watch on TV & choose to link to TV via code
Enter the code on your phone that the fire app gives you & then you can cast (the fire app must be open for the cast icon to appear)
You can cast Spotify easily by using the Spotify TV version of the app on the firestick
You can cast any video/audio/picture on your phone using allcast (playstore) and also installing the receiver app on the firestick
You can cast any video/audio from your media server (pc/laptop/nas drive) using bubbleupnp
There's no such thing as a "jailbroken" firestick
Kodi is just a media player - what you use it for is your choice - for example you can use it with bubbleupnp to create a media server on your pc to cast all videos on your pc to the firestick

YouTube, music and videos files I own are the only things I don't need help casting. But thank you for your quick reply. They make it crazy easy to stream files from your phone/pc. I just don't have any movies or TV shows downloaded on any of my devices. I forgot to mention I have been able to stream music I have on my phone/pc no problem. And the music apps casting sends to work pretty decently.
I know there's no such thing as a jailbroken firestick. But most people think a firestick with Kodi installed is a jailbroken firestick and will pay you $10 to $20 more for it
