So I beat the crap out of my ZL in order to find the holy test points that can be used with s1tool to repair hard bricked Sony phones. Unlike Z1 or Z, ZL doesn't have any test point on the motherboard that's very obvious. At lease I don't see them [Check the pictures of my disassembled ZL].
Please chime in if you know about ZL test points - don't assume unless you're quite sure. And yes I tried pretty much all golden dots on the front side of the board board - no luck. This gentleman created a wonderful guide for ZL, but he's not sure about ZL test point location. Now I'm thinking the point could be on the back side like the older phones. Any clue will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Why is there no separate forum for the Xperia Neo?
The news about SE unlocking the Xperia bootloader is great, and I'm eagerly awaiting the launch of the Xperia Neo here. However, I'm surprised at the absence of a forum for the Neo.
Is there any reason for that? And how easy would it be to port a custom ROM, originally written for the Arc, to the Neo? (Seeing that the Arc would be a much more popular device with people).

I think it'd be better if we got a forum for the Arc and Neo together. The only hardware difference is the display (which shouldn't matter for development etc) and the front-facing camera anyway...
Yeah I'd like a forum for Neo as well... Though, software wise the Arc and Neo are pretty much the same, but I gotta say I like the Neo more because of its smaller size and it fits better in the palm of your hand.
Wouldn't trade my Neo for an Arc... =)
I might be wrong here guys and girl's but hasn't the Neo been pushed back till closer to June?
As with the whole having to source an entire new manufacturing facility things are running tight.

Yep, June now.
Even SE don't have any Neos to hand, let alone enough to start selling them.
thats so sad...
i really wanted a neo, but now im thinking of desire s maybe.. tho the camera sucks on it.. and the bootloader is locked, so far.
dunno what to do
please i beg u guys if u could make a seperate forum for sony ericsson xperia neo
Include me in too. Still trying to find a generic rom for my neo. Bought it in China and is full of crapware and no google apps

Can you use the Arc ROM on the Neo without having problems?
The original one not.
It has to be ported to the Neo.

I think what he meant is that they're all the same. I'm almost certain of this, but not entirely sure. So you'll just find different colors, for instance I got my phone through AT&T (r800at), so it's blue!
EDIT: For reference, I believe the r800i is the International version, r800a is the north American version, r800at is the AT&T version, and r800x is the Verizon version. Maybe some of these might be used by other carriers as well, but I think that mostly sums it up. And as far as I know, they all have the same housing. I'm actually not sure what the Z1i is though... just be sure you're not getting a bigger cover for the extended batteries (which make your Play bigger), unless you are getting an extended battery! (for example, extended battery: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Ericsson-Extended-Capacity-Replacement/dp/B005OPHNBA = not unless you want your Play bigger)

Z1i is just another name for the phone, dimensions stay the same for the different versions.
They are indeed the same.

So how does one download it without getting a bunch of other software, media players and other who-knows-what coming with it?
Is there a link to the file, as opposed to all this other software?

Yeah, this works much better on a handset than a PC. That site has a LOT of crap trying to capture attention and force unwanted software down onto your PC.
Thanks for the manuals, I grabbed them with the ZL.
Thank you! I was looking for this information for a long time.
Bit off topic, but though I would ask you guys since you must be taking apart the ZL quite a bit.
Is there a hardware part that shows with 100% accuracy the particular variant of ZL whereas it is C6502, C6503 or C6506?
I got a refurbished ZL (wanted the C6503) but have the feeling it is actually a C6502 with a C6503 rom installed on it. In service menu, I don't see any LTE bands mentioned and the GSM bands listed there correspond to the C6502 bands mentioned in the white papers.
See my post on my problem.
Or is it possible that the phone is indeed a C6503, just the LTE part is broken somehow? Or is LTE not "wired" in the CPU? Sorry about the ameteur-ish questions... Any ideas?
Hi, someone hava the mechanical circuit of the motherboard? my xperia zl boot normally but not light on the display, it boot normally but i just see a liitle bit. it is not a display problem , i tried with a new display and the problem persist, i think is somethnig wrong back on the motherboard, so i need the schematical circuit, please someone help me

How much time ago you purchased this mobile..?
If it's between six months, then right choice for you is to claim for accidental damage protection

I'm from Germany and I got a new replacement. Since the display had a little scratch and the battery was one year old I'm quite satisfied.
I'm not sure if they are really new or refurbished phones the give.
I also have the problem, together with the 'black dots on the camera sensor' and 'dead battery'.
I'm from Belgium but I bought the phone in Germany. Yesterday the phone left the shop towards the repair center, I'm curious what they will do. I never had a phone with so much hardware problems. And I'm even not talking about the skin on the cover that was peeling of after not even 3 weeks. For that I never found an agreement with the Phone House nor Sony. They always keep saying it's was my fault. They pretend I was using a detergent on the cover... something that's not true and was never proved by either of them. I was suffering from extreme heating when the phone was idle, a problem that was resolved with installing a new firmware when I got back my phone after 3 months of contesting.
I will be very satisfied with either a new or refurbished phone
I'm buying a used z1 compact. Having a day to test it, and return it if i find something wrong with it. I know some defects/harms are hard to recognize in only one day testing. So i'm asking you for advice on common (or uncommon) defects i should look out for?
