[GUIDE][DEV] aroma ROM+KERNEL installer pack

using aroma installer for any mod installation is cool. you might want to use it to install your rom. however, only a few member here know how to use it correctly. this thread is intended to introduce aroma installer to any rom devs here. I've made a simple aroma installer to install rom and kernel for any dev who want to use and learn about it. please don't expect any "wow" thing from this stuff. if you're a rom dev you should learn aroma installer by yourself. this stuff is only something I hope could help you understand the structure of aroma installer and how to make it by your self.

how to use:
1. open/extract the zip file
2. put your rom system file in /system folder as in your usual zip file
3. replace boot.img with your kernel
4. rezip the zip file

PS:
1. I won't be here for a while. so please don't ask any question related to aroma in this thread. google is your friend.
2. the boot.img inside this zip file is my test kernel.
3. installation only work in CWM
4. there's a bug in v1. please use v1.1 instead.

Sr sir, but construction:
1. Extract this file
2. Put/replace in current system folder.
3. Zip and install via CWM

yup...its just as simply like that. replace the system folder with yours, rezip, done. the kernel is a test stuff so you might want to replace with something else. if every rom here using aroma installer, the other forum will be so envious. let's go up!!

There are several problems in the package. When I select "Install kernel" it shows installing kernel but near the progress bar it shows that its installing a rom. I tried to restore my backup using it and got problems such as bootloop, launcher not initializing etc. Will wait for any fixes..I need to put it in my rom so make it fast bro....

wow...i never expect someone will use it "raw" unmodified. i'll check it later.

There is no boot.img in the package you gave. What should I replace?

Btw what files should I mod? There are 2 kinds of files namely " . txt " and the " .txt~ " ones.

put in the root folder. just like boot.img in previous version. I didn't put that kernel since it significanly increase the file size.

How could i use this package to install multiple roms?????? in one aroma?? any help wpuld be awesome!!

you can modify the script by yourself. if you don't want to make one, you can use the slot used to install busybox.

Polaris Office for non-stock ROMs

I reverted to stock ROM recently (after few custom ROMs) and I quite used to Polaris Office. Now I'm back on custom, but I miss that office suite. Is there any way to install it into deodexed, desensed Blade ROM which I'm running now? I'm not able to restore it from my old backup (stock 4.0.4) and I don't have any other.
Can somebody provide me this app? I'd prefer flashable zip, because I tried some versions I found, but every one of them ended with "Application not installed". Also I tried to copy it to /data/app folder, change permissions and restart phone, but with no success.

Try to copy it to /system/app/. That's where I have it on ViperX.

Oh yeah, of course, it belongs to /system/app ! Thanks, I feel so stupid right now... :laugh:
But it's still not working Crashes every time I want to create new document (at least the version I've found)...
Do you have stock JB backup with Polaris Office? Can you provide me the app? (I don't think it's [email protected] since I basically bought this app with phone ).

Tommy, I also miss Polaris Office in custom ROMs, so I goggled it and found your thread. Also tried to download the zip from Polaris Office, but it's an apk from a game Modern Combat 3 . Could you send me the correct zip file?

Hey guys I just messed up with those two files on my Nokia X and I can't make calls anymore, car someone upload them please?
You need root and root explorer, files are in system/app and their names are Contacts.apk and Contacts.odex

Heres the odex. Rename it to Contacts.odex.

Stock XL ROM
Does anyone have a stock XL ROM (if it is legal to have and provide one)? Can they provide it to me?
I installed gapps temporarily on my XL in order to active Google Play Services and download my purchased apps. Next, I tried to uninstall gapps, and find it has infiltrated my system to such an extent that I don't know how to get rid of it.
I wish I had made a backup using TWRP before installing gapps!

download it through navifirm+ and flash using nx flasher

Hello friends.
Could someone explain me how can I install the S Memo from stock ROM?
I Installed the Archidroid and am really enjoying it but I miss this app. I tried to install in various ways and could not.

you can install the Bloatware for this ROM from here...just download the bloatware and reboot to recovery and this will install all the samsung stuff thats not in Aroma, there is a guide on how to install individual application by moving the apk files within this bloatware zip. Search for Bloatware on the thread below and and look for the steps on how to do this.

Already moved the file to the System/app folder, checked the permissions, rebooted and it did not work.
Guess I'll have to install the whole package via recovery and then delete what I do not want.
If you can give me any other tips, I am grateful.

try whats mentioned in post #4844 - automatic (if the link dont work then its page 485 on the Archi 1x thread)
since you have tried the manual and its not working the above one should work.

I am confused by your statements, you cant run. zip or you cannot find that. zip file to download!? please make it clear. Secondly
I dont think @moonbutt74 give you the working link for aromafm for his work (philz cwm etc). More info about aromafm please visit here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25911276#post25911276 you can try to get a zip here but idk if its working, so do it at your own risk!

I can't run aromafm where find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108&page=2 because i need the specific build of aromafm for the gt-p52xx which is x86 architecture, arm wil not work. like i said,I dont think @moonbutt74 give you the working link for aromafm for his work (philz cwm etc), unless he himself give you the zip which i dont think so as he wrote on this thread that he stop providing support for this project. Meanwhile i will pay attention on this aromafm for p5210.

I contacted with @moonbutt74 and he said "contact XDA user @Restl3ss to ask if he still has that file mirrored or put a request in q&a of the tab 3 forums for anyone with
a copy to upload, you need the specific build of aromafm for the gt-p52xx which is x86 architecture, arm wil not work.

well alright then, i dont really why must you get aromafm. I am currently working on cyanogenmod project so i cant spare my time on working on custom x86 aromafm for you. but if i have time i will try to make a custom aromafm for your device

I need aromafm because i flash phliz-cwm recovery and i like it very much, but it haven't file manager. Anyway, don't worry, good luck with your work and thanks a lot if you find little time for me.
