I have a pair of Xiaomi Pistons v2.
It has 3-button for Android (volume and play/pause)
LGG3 doesn't recognize them every time I plug it in. And when it recognize it drops suddenly.
When I say drop, I can still hear through the headphone but I Can't use the buttons.
Is it any mod function? I use g3 tweak box.. Maybe it is it.
Same problem here
I have the Sennheiser Urbanite XL and the same problem. The buttons work on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 without any issues, but on my LG G3 the buttons have no function at all.
I even checked with the Debug mode of "JAYS Headset Control", but the phone doesn't seem do get any signal from a button press.
Please help, a pair of headphones with buttons that doesn't work sucks...
This isn't a headphone or the phone issue. This is a general hardware incompatibility between different manufacturers.
Buttons are the triggers with the certain resistance. And resistance values differs for LG and Apple for example. Also pins on the jack may differ. It's a monkey circus with all these headphones.

I have the same issue. but I use the original Note 3 headset with my Note 3 stock.
Previously I used to use buttons normally, but now I can only hear the sound without the ability to use the buttons.
Ps, I tried to flash CM 12.1 on my Note 3, buttons worked perfectly (not hardware fault).
any ideas?

hello,
i have exactly the same problem. Suddenly my g3 cant recognise any 3jack headphones. only 2jack... which means no mic no buttons. I used around 10 headset with 2 and 3 jack so im 100% that the problem is the 3jacks. I replaced the jack with a new one but still the problem. then i did a factory reset and flash again the mm. Nothing. Im currently using soundabout and its the only app that make my headset work but only for listening music without using buttons. when it comes to a call it doesnt recognised mic so i cant use them . Anyone can help us to figure out???

this past monday, i received the BlueAnt Supertooth 3. i've been using it for a few days and here is my review of it so far.

what's in the package:
1 Supertooth 3
1 Travel/Wall Charger
1 Car Charger
2 Visor Clips
1 User Manual
the Supertooth 3 (ST3) has 2 strong magnets on the back of the device. it can be clipped on either side of the visor clip as needed.
pairing the device was easy. i have the HTC P3600 (aka Trinity) with Windows Mobile 5. after pairing, the ST3 tried to transfer my phone book, but was unable to. something with smart phones makes it difficult to transfer your contacts. i had to transfer my contacts 1 by 1. very time consuming. if your phone supports voice dialing and you programed some of your contacts with the voice dialing feature, you can use voice dialing with the ST3. just press and release the green button and the ST3 will beep once and you just say the person's name you want to dial, and it dials it for you. it works 90% of the time. the other 10% - it dials someone else's number that didn't even sound like the person's i called out.
the quality is pretty good. the ST3 is clipped on my visor and i don't have to yell into the mic, the other person on the other line can hear me just fine. they don't even know i'm on the ST3 until i tell them. they tell me i sound very clear. on my end, i can hear them just fine. there is a volume adjustment that you can mess with if you want it louder or quieter.
once i leave my car, and if i leave my bluetooth on with my phone...after i come back to the car, the ST3 connects to my phone automatically. it will have a voice prompt that tells me so.
the ST3 has TTS (Text To Speech). so if someone calls you and you have that number in your phone book, the ST3 should read the name of that person to you and you can say "OK", or "Accept" to pick up the call. i have a problem with this feature. the ST3 reads out the phone number instead of the name of the caller - even if the caller is in my phone book already. i don't know how to fix this, so if anyone have any ideas, i would greatly appreciate it. one of the main reason on why i bought this device was the TTS feature.
so far, i really like the ST3. it's clear on my end and clear on the other end. isn't that the main features you look for in the bluetooth headset/car kit?
this is my first review i ever posted, so i apologize if it doesn't sound professional. if anyone has any questions about the ST3, i'll be happy to answer it for you.
What exactly can a pair of headphones with a microphone do? Not Bluetooth just ones that plug into a headphone jack.... any ideas? Any suggestions? (Cheap around $5-10)
there are only a few things that are supported, the only two i really know of are google voice and skype.

Is skype really supported for calls now? On which ROM? When i tried to call last time it disconnected immediately after call was accepted no matter calling from KF to other device or vice versa.
I don't believe anyone has actually gotten it to fully work (by that, I mean communicate in both directions) with Skype as yet.
I got voice search using the gingerbread miui rom. You just have to find the right g apps package to flash
Tapemachine works great on stock kindle fire / record /edit/save your voice, good for memo stuff, mp3 format is supported so file sizes are small

I just bought the headset buddy (sorry, can't post links) to use with my headphones & mic, but the mic doesn't work with any recording apps I've tried, including ones that are reputed to work on the KF with this setup. (Tape-a-talk, hi q mp3 recorder, etc.)
It's possible my mic is not compatible. It's mono, with a regular 1/8" jack. It fits the adapter just fine, though, and the headphones do work, so I don't know why the mic wouldn't.
I wonder if this setup is incompatible with the ROM I'm using, which is Hellfire Kindle Sandwich. Have any other HFKS users gotten an external mic to work with recording applications?

If it doesn't have a TRRS plug (with four connectors), it's probably the mic that's the problem.

Thanks for the diagram. The headset buddy is indeed a TRRS connector. The mic I'm trying to use, however is a mono mic with a TRS connection. I bet that's the problem. Since it's mono, I'd expect the jack to be TS, not TRS. Anyway, thanks for the help. I'll try getting my hands on some other gear to try out with it.
Can anyone confirm that the mic input works on ICS (specifically Gederom 0.6)? I bought a small button mic meant for older iPods with the appropriate TRRS connector, but can't get the Fire to recognize it or any input from it. I've tried Voice Search, a couple of voice recording apps, and Shazam (which seems to be working for pretty much everyone).
I'm wondering if I have a defective mic (not too surprising considering it's a pretty cheap one from Hong Kong or something), or if this doesn't work in ICS or something. I'm trying to find another device to test the mic on, but haven't had any luck getting my hands on one.
In researching the pin-outs, it appears that the iPhone and HTC type Microphone/Headsets have opposite pinouts on the ground and microphone. I'm betting that the grounded mic input is what causes the disconnect. You can't use an iPhone headset/Mic with a Kindle Fire.

I was wondering about the opposite pin-outs too, but yeah, it does seem to be working with both types of plugs, and definitely iPhone-style. Maybe I should just get a refund and try a different one...

Absolutley love this phone however when I connect to by car via bluetooth to listen too music or iheartradio it has a horrible crackle noise and it kind of morphs the voices. Anyone else having this issue? Any fixes?
Mine seems to have interference when I have wifi connected as well. When I turn wifi off my sounds seems to be pretty good. Haven't noticed it on phone calls, only when listening to music.
Bluetooths audio cuts in and out like crazy on WiFi usage. Seems worse with some speakers than others. Car isn't as bad as my bedside alarm clock. I tried 2.4GHZ and 5GHz wifi to see if it made a difference. None noticed. Turning WiFi off alleviates the issue for me.
I had the same problem on the Nexus 7 (4.1.x) but NOT the Nexus 4 (4.2.2).

So I haven't tested going to a dedicated 5GHz frequency in my own home, but the bluetooth spectrum overlaps the 2.4GHz wifi spectrum. Bluetooth is supposed to hop frequencies to avoid collisions, but it doesn't seem like that work perfectly. I will attempt to do some testing this weekend with setting my router up to 5GHz and see if I still have the problems as well. Here is a quick chart on how the spectrums overlap though for reference...

I've noticed a high pitch squeal when streaming Pandora over bluetooth to all of my bluetooth devices (Alpine CD Player, Harmon/Kardon BT Headphones, and Dbest DUO Speakers). The music player sounds ok, but seems to have some high frequency noise as well. For reference, I never had any issues with my Note 1, Note 2, or Galaxy S4 streaming music over bluetooth. However, this phone is my favorite and I hope there is a fix for it.
headphones and wifi no problem..
I listen to audio over bluetooth headphones all day with the wifi on and have no issues.
My default headphones (the ones that came with my M8) work great on my HTC One M8 running S.Team ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...the-worlds-first100-m9-port-m8upload-t3064838)
However, my other headphones don't work on my M8. I've tried iPhone earpods and Tritton Kunai headset. After trying plugging in and out for several minutes, I sometimes get audio.
And since one of my HTC headphones broke, I got to use other headphones.
The default headphones work great so no port issue I guess. Also cleaned the port with compressed air.
I think it's a software issue, probably ROM or BoomSound related.
What do you guys think could be the issue?
The default HTC headphones that I'm currently using

EDIT: I think I got the solution. Apparently the One M8 checks the mic on your earbuds to see if the mic is working.
I got this from the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/headphone-detected-t2988006
(special thanks to awkm for addressing the issue and vanjan for the solution)
I tested this with my headset (Tritton Kunai). When the mic is disconnected from the headset, audio plays through the internal speakers but when I connect the mic, it plays through the headset itself.
There are some Play store apps, which will force headphone mode. See if that helps.
Do you have headphones icon in notification area when your not HTC headphones are plugged in or your phone does'n detect them? Also turning on/off BoomSound might help.

I don't have a headphone icon in the status bar when having earphones plugged in, also with the working M8 earbuds there is no icon. BoomSound is turned off.
I tested today with my iPhone earbuds and my Tritton Kunai headset, both of theme aren't detected by the phone.
However, my brother's earbods worked. I believe those are from Sony.
Try this

I had the same issue and solved it by repeatedly inserting and withdrawing the plug from the socket until it worked. I'm guessing it was dirt in the socket?
Hi all,
Just bought a new pair of Airpod Pros and connected them to my Galaxy S20. The volume is really low even on the max. I've tried the following:
Enabled developer options
Turned ON "Disable absolute volume"
Restarted phone, re-paired Airpods
Still quiet...
Then I made sure the "Media volume limit" was OFF (in Settings > Sounds & Vibration > Volume)
Restarted phone, re-paired Airpods
Still quiet...
Turned on Dolby Atmos... Still quiet.
Not saying I want my eardrums to bleed, but seriously, this is too quiet.
Also, to test the Airpods themselves, I paired them with my Galaxy S8, which is Android 9, and they are LOUD!
It seems to be an issue with my phone settings or maybe the Airpods firmware doesn't work well with Android 10? Anyone able to fix this problem?
I just calibrated the Airpods using my friend's iPhone, but when I connect them to my Android they are still really quiet. I'd say about 50% the volume than on the iPhone and my S8 (Android 9).
I contacted both Apple and Samsung.
The Airpods firmware is up to date. The Samsung S20 firmware is up to date. Neither company had any new troubleshooting ideas. They are now both aware of the issue, although I don't know if that means they'll do anything about it. The Samsung representative said I could downgrade to Android 9 if I went to a certified Samsung technician. They gave me contact info for the nearest repair shop. I called them and they told me they could NOT downgrade my operating system.
I've tried various volume booster apps. Yes, they all make the volume louder, but they also distort the audio. This is frustrating. I don't know whether I should return the Airpods or wait until someone comes up with a fix. At this point it seems like a fix is not something that is in the near future since neither company was aware of the problem.
Got my galaxy buds+ in the post this morning and had the exact same issue thinking they we're quiet. Tried a few apps that gave me distortion also and ended up getting Mega Equalizer off the play store and setting the "loudness" inside the app to about 60%. Nice and loud now!
Got dolby atmos turned on, phone eq set to rock, eq in galaxy wearable set to dynamic. Cranked the eq in mega equalizer to this too. No distortion. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the volume boost app suggestion. I will give that one a try.
Have you disabled the Media volume limitation (3 dots upper right corner in setup->volume)?
Btw got an update for the Buds yesterday.

00mpollard - I got my Buds+ today and when I first used them they were very quiet. I was able to make them louder without the Mega EQ app. I figured I'd pass this along in case you haven't already tried it.
Turn your Mega EQ boost off first. I didn't and my ears paid the price...
In the Galaxy Wear app, there's a section called "Labs". Tap on that and then turn on the "Double tap earbud edge" feature. Then do a bunch of double taps on the right earbud edge. That will turn the volume of the buds up. Now when you put the phone volume up, they should be loud!

Thanks for the reply! Did try that but its still a little quiet for me. I must be going deaf in my old age or like my music far too loud
