Hi
I need to re-allocate memory on my device. It was brought as a live demo model... i have since rooted and flashed a custom ROM but i only have 2gb out of 16gb usable due to the allocation of the memory on the demo unit. System shows at 11gb and i have no custom recovery backups.*
I have located a PIT file online ...but the file is posted as a PITname.pit.txt and i cannot get Odin to recognise this as it is just a text file. Is there any way i can convert or use this file?*
Could anyone provide me the proper .PIT file if possible? The one i have found is allocated to note 3 board... will this be ok or cause issues?
Please help me.
Many Thanks
Try renaming the file to remove the .txt

Rogers S3 i747 need some serious help and advice
Ive spent the last 9 hours trying to find a solution to this issue and I cant seem to wrap my head around it, so I am kindly asking for some help.
I was attempting to flash the CM 10.1 12/18/2012 yesterday but every time I flashed it...the data was not working. I tried 12/17, 12/16 files but still the same issue.
So finally I gave up hope and I tried to flash back to the CM M2 experimental. I was using this before and other than the occasional force closes and once a week reboots at least it was useable.
So after I flashed everything again, of course with wiping the data and what not for the proper procedures, I was trying to load up my apps again from Google. About 15 apps in I get the message that there is not enough room? Puzzled I went to see why this was....
My internal memory of 12gigs only has available 678megs... WTF???????
Ive tried to locate how this was possible, but no programs I use can seem to see why the space is taken up. The funny thing is...all the movies and songs and pictures from the internal SD are still there. They can be seen on the phone play lists and picture lists. BUT I cant access the internal SD card!!!!
I am at a loss for solutions. I dont know what I did wrong here.
Ive reflashed Odin. Ive reflashed all the roms. I was able to finally mount the SD from Clockword MOD, but still no sign of these files.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated at this point as Im about to give up.
ps..has anyone gotten CM10.1 to work with data? cause everytime I used it... it kept saying No Internet Connection
PLEASE HELP.... :silly::crying::crying::crying:

im using this TAR file
Odin3_v3.07_SGSIII\I727RUXLF3_I727RRWCLF3_I727RUXLF3_HOME.tar.md5
after careful examination i see that it might be the wrong version...
so now im using this TAR file
Odin3_v3.07_SGSIII\root66_RWC_I747MVLDLK4.tar.md5

If I'm reading that correctly, that isn't even an image for any sort of S III, being instead for a variant of the S II.

This, on the other hand, should be the right (pre-rooted) image for your device.
Well, its the right i747image for a Canadian variety.
Verify these folders.
Verify in your internal SD Card if you have these directories:
/storage/emulated/0
and
storage/emulated/legacy
And by /storage I believe it means just the internal SD Card root directory.
According to a post, CM10.1 for some reason makes a copy of the entire contents of your internal sd card to these folders after installing it... not exactly sure why. Take a look at the link below for more information:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35646339&highlight=emulated#post35646339
I simply formatted the SD Card through CWM Recovery after flashing back to stock ROM and the space was recovered, you will however lose data unless you try and take the contents out from these folders to your PC first.
I have tried my best finding in forums etc and i have tried flashing any stock roms with Odin, factory reset, delete cache etc. i still get no luck on recovering my phone everything works fine expect for my internal storage with 0bytes (ihave dump a logcat text file) hope this helps i have tried flashing a pit file too

Strange would have though format in CWM would have worked, and ODIN didnt work either?
try flashing a stock ROM with Odin and using .PIT file for re-partitioning .....however ssh somebody mentioned the n7105 don't come or have .pit files anymore...I'm not sure..do the research and see...cause pit files tell the Odin how to format and layout the phone during the flashing process..

I have found a pit file (i guess) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137008 so how do i use pit files with odin?
More info: Once i plug in my note 2 on a pc i cant transfer files to my external sd card it will just hang at transfering.
The strange thing is when am on my phone i go to | settings > Storage |my total space is 0.0b |Application 598mb| and when i hold my home button and i go to storage it shows my |system storage 817mb/10.22gb | sd card 4.72gb/7.41gb|
I remember before i had this problem i went to odin and i press nand erase all and a stock rom and flash them together and once i on my phone i cant pass through samsung logo and i when to samsung recovery( i hold the power button, home button and vol up button) and i went to press wipe data/factory reset and once i press reboot system now i got this error with no signal and internal storage 0.0 ... once i got this i panic and i went to flash wanamlite rom and i got my signal back and when i flash back a normal stock rom my signal will be lost again..

whenever you mess up your phone badly it's wise to go back to stock rather than flashing other ROMs cause other ROMs will be subjected to a messed up environment as they are generic and thus may complicate things further...Samsung ROMs on the other hand when used with.pit files can 're format / re partition the phone in a standard format.
answering your question on the pit file issue.... download Odin v 1.87 not the newer versions as sometimes they cause issues unless this version fails... put the .pit file in the pit section of Odin, place your stock ROM on the PDA section of Odin, you can add a csc as well I think it's related with regional settings of some sort..Google it I'm not sure but it's not very necessary, you can add a modem in the modem section also tick RE-PARTITION and tick reboot after Odin completes. however I'm just warning you...these are risky procedures proceed at your own risk

I've the same problem ! No IMEI, no baseband, no internal memory (sdcard). Only the external one is accesible. Over USB i can not copy any file to external sd and internal sd shows -104857600 Bytes. I've already tried to repartition with a pit file, flash stock with odin, flash tons of roms with cwm/twrp. Nothing is working.

Hello everybody, I saw a topic that (installing PIT files) the device partitions were increased .. Does anyone know how to do that for our Galaxy Fame?
[MOD][GUIDE]Partition your internal memory for better App management (Pit Files)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538947
@Laelson maybe a very late reaction but you can edit pit files with a program, you can find it on google since it's also a program from a xda thread.
But. I suggest all of you guys to NOT do this since editing pit files is Highly risky cause when the pit file get's corrupt and you flash it to your own phone then you will end up with a Brick or a pile of replacement parts.
Also if you modify for example the system partition to be smaller and you will flash later back to stock and if the rom will not fit then you will have problems. Just don't do it, not worth the risk.
The best thing that I can suggest is to get a good Microsd card since the fame doesn't support OTG? Or does it?
Btw, sorry for bumping this.
My wife has a d5316, which she is totally happy with except for the lack of internal memory. The phone is on 5.1.1 and i rooted it with " kingroot". I would like to
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t2-ultra/general/lp-debloating-script-performance-t3453452 and i was trying to swap the internal memory with a 64 gb
Sd card i put in it, using https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php.
So i downloaded root browser ( jrummy apps inc.) , i found 2 different /etc
Files, and neither one had the vold.fstab folder i was looking for. I didnt try to mount r/w. Because i wanted to locate the file first. Was this vold file moved to a new location in 5.1.1 ? I just dont wanna brick her phone cause I'll never hear the end of it.
I'm just not sure which posts are still good and which are outdated, so if anyone can plz help me accomplish my goals i would greatly appreciate it. Thankyou in advance for any help anyone can offer.
