Hello,
I cannot use the nonFat partition (ext 2,3,4) on P6 for Link2SD.
when I contact to developer, he said
If your ROM does not support ext file systems you can try to install necessary drives. This varies from device to device, look into the internet for a working method on your rom.

Just a question here, did you know that stock recovery have an option that lets you install apps on sd card without installing any 3rd party app like app2sd?
it work with most apps, the only apps i cant install on sd is whatsapp and facebook app, the rest like games or ****ty aps get installed on sd card. when i get home from work i can get pictures of it.

Yeah.. I know.. But for you, Whatsapp and Facebook app can also install on SD card.. I moved the Facebook app on SD card with link2sd but I didn't move Whatsapp on SD.. when i moved this on sd, it won't open automatically when the ph is power on.
For link2sd, I want to use non-fat partition becos in link2sd plus -> we can link the internal data also (which support only non-fat partition)..
So, if anyone know how to use non-fat partition on P6 to work for Link2sd, please help me..

Hi notwo,
i write to you for inform that i have solved the problem.
i think that P6 can't read the partiotion Ext (it's not important if is 2,3 or 4 i have see that not read all the ext partition).
i have solved the problem with a partition in Fat32.
you must create two partion Fat32, the first is the partition that you can use for Movie Photo and other file, the second partition is the partition that you use for the app.
after you have create the partition open link2sd and when tell you the partition for create the script you must tap on Fat32 option.
i hope that it's all clear and sorry for my English is not my first language

Hi Foxtrot,
Thank you bro
I knew that i can cr8 2 partition as Fat32. but if i do like this, i can't use link2sd function (link data to sd "it included in link2SD plus").
its function can only work with Ext partition.
Anyway know how to use it.
Although its 1 year ago since the topic was opened, your Information was important for me.
I also found out, that a combination of Fat32 for the Link2SD files and exFat for the rest is also working fine (formatted with Aparted on Omni Rom 4.4.4).

Sorry, but I really can't remember - I hope, you found a solution.
I reinstalled B708 Neo_repack again after a week of CM and Omni. Scrolling while browsing wasn't smooth enough in my opinion - and also the problems with autostarts of gapps were annoying me...

Hey People,
As the title shows I have some questions about using Link2sd correctly.
First off my phone is rooted and is using a standard VM rom with most of the bloatware already removed and apps2sd built into the rom.
I am only using a 4 gig SD card that has 2 partitions.
In Link2sd SD(/mnt/sdcard) card shows total .97GB and SD Card 2nd Part (/data/sdext2) has total 2.84GB.
I think I have them backwards, should /mnt/sdcard be the larger partition since that is the one I have access to?
And what is the difference between Linking something to the SD card and just moving it to the SD card?
From what I have gathered when something is Linked to the SD card it gets moved to the /data/sdext2.
And if you just move it to the SD card it gets moved to the /mnt/sdcard partition.
When would you choose one over the other?
Thanks
Quick study Links2SD can move any app; A2SD can only move apps written to be moved to SD [/sdcard]. I prefer to use the ext2 or ext3 [/sdext] as much as possible for apps as its a native file system [android is a linux branch after all]. The fat32 can cause longer delays at boot time imo. I believe your partition sizes to be a good choice though. Your fat32 will fill up with nandroids, downloaded roms and mods, music, documents and such before you know it
Hope that helps.
Rob

I think your ext partition is to big for a 4gb sdcard, you may want to reduce it to 1gb or 2gb if you have plenty of apps. Let me tell you more about this link2sd, app2sd and data2sd so that you will understand better and be able to decide which is suitable for your phone.
As mentioned above, link2sd moves apps to your ext2/ext3/ext4 partition. But not only apps or the apk's, it also moves the dalvik, cache, and library files supporting the apps. The advantage of link2sd is the freedom to choose which of those you want to move. You can easily check or uncheck this options during the linking process.
Native app2sd moves apps to the fat32 partition (/sdcard). And it only moves the apk, leaving cache, dalvik and library files in the internal memory. If you have several applications moved in this manner, a certain portion of your internal memory is still being consumed.
There's also Data2Sd, it creates a link of the entire /data folder and moves everything to the ext partition. Logically speaking, your ext partition becomes your /data partition. The original data partition now becomes a useless space. The advantage of this is the size of your internal memory, which is only limited to the size of your ext partition. But there's also a disadvantage, to use app2sd you need a fast sdcard (category 6 and above is recommended) because everything is now residing on the sdcard which is normally slower than the built-in memory and may result to lagging on some applications.

I you mean the apps linked into your old sdcard, then do this:
1. Backup all your apps using titanium backup. The backup will be stored in your /sdcard under "TitaniumBackup" folder.
2. Use a card reader to copy that folder to your new sdcard.
3. Insert your new sdcard to your phone, then download and reinstall titanium backup.
It will automatically scan for backup up files in your sdcard and will allow you to restore all your apps.
Ok thanks s I will try this

Why is link2sd not finding my ext 2 particion ?
Is this because I used cwr to particion my SD card ?
I have made a 2gb ext2 with 512 swap I have linked a lot of apps to SD card but when I get the memory status I get the SD particion not detected
What can I do? The think is that the phone works fine

2GB is probably more that you'll ever need. I've always used 1GB and it has not yet run out.
Could you clarify what you mean when you say that you have linked a lot of apps but the SD partition is not detected?
Does Link2SD say that the apps are on the sdcard or the apps are LINKED to SD?

Well the problem is this when I open the link2sd a windows pops up and tells me to choose
Ext2 ext 3 ext 4 fat 32 if I choose ext 2 it say that it can't found the ext2 and I have to do a restart then it finds the ext2 and tells me to restart again if I do not turn the phone off there is no problem but if I turn the phone off at night I have to do this again:banghead: in order for the link2sd to find the ext2 partition if I go to link2sd settings storage use the 2end partition is not available only if I do 2 restarts

Did you ever use data2sd or s2e or anything else which uses the sd-ext partition? It sounds like there might be a conflict between different startup scripts.
Could you open a root explorer (Or terminal or adb) and find the init.d folder.
On my CM9, the folder is at /system/system/etc/init.d
Post here a list of all the files inside that folder.

I've got confirmation that the Link2SD/a2sd in this ROM are working just fine. Many users have reported that; and a few users have even told me that Data2SD also works just fine (I dunno... I only use Link2SD) with the only point being that you can't delete/uninstall any of the app2sd scripts that come bundled with the ROM. If you must use Data2SD (why??) then simply install it and you're off and running. Other than that, Link2SD should work just fine (it does for me and, literally, hundreds others).
I suspect this has to do with what/how you restored from Titanium Backup... or the fact that you partitioned with CWM. No offense, but CWM's strength is in backup/recovery, not partitioning (or even partitioning WIPING, if you read a few key posts on this forum).
I suggest you format with MiniTool Partition Wizard (lots of good tutorials on XDA). I'm using ext2fs myself and it works just fine (of course, ext4fs also works... I've tried it myself).
Good luck,

Do you actually need the swap partition? Maybe you should just try to get link2sd running first.
And did you create your ext4 partition as a primary partition behind your fat32 partition? You could also try to use ext2 instead of ext4.
Problem
Ext4 is primary of course, ext2 not so quick as ext4, so what i shoul do?
So I have another one question, does Widfire s supported ext4, i use eoghan kernel for android 4, and custom rom by djoliver
Ok...

Ok... I had the same problem, I had a 32gb memory sd card so I thought 16gb for data and 16gb for music, BUT I folowed the tutorial and I found out the the mini partition tool box ruined my memory card... So I got a diffrentsd card, went into CWM recovery and If you go into the advance u will see something like partisioning. So if u go in that and select all u want and that should work... try to create 1gb or less... Since more than 1gb doesn't seen to be working well. After its done reboot and go to link2sd and it will see the partision so then u can select... ;D
Good Luck
James
P.S. Delete the curent 2nd partision before doing it, delete it with mini tool. If u want to see some magic flash data2sd.zip and u should see that the partision will be made as the internal memory and it will go there instead of linking ;D
Question
Thanks James I ll try it, but what the ext number created in recovery? EXT2? Or another?
Sd card wil formated?
Amm... I think ext2, but its better than nothing
P.S.: EXPLORE the recovery mode and you will find out more
Thanks
Thanks I do this
Can't you just use the Partition Wizard in ClockworkMod Recovery? Let's you choose your EXT size (upto 4GB) and a swap size (which i usually do 0M)...
Gl.
I also got the same problem with minitool partition wizard...ita useless in my case. So i tried partitoning with cwm which u cando by selecting partition sd card in advanced menu...it creates an ext2 partition. I suggest you to use cronmod's INT2EXT script as it seems far more better and easy than link2 sd!
Hit that "THANKS" button if i helped you...

After restarting all the apps installed on the ext2 partition were gone! All the widgets gone! Easiest way to partition SD card (at least for me) is with twrp recovery: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/primou/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-primou.img
You find "Partition SD" under Advanced
However:
- for swap use Turbo Boost: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145133 or SwapItOn: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359182 - so you don't need a partition for swap :highfive:
- best (and fastest) is to leave all apps where they are. Specially if you still have free space. If you're running out of space, OK, move some to SD. Read here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...all-apps-internal-memory-external-memory.html and http://forums.androidcentral.com/ge...r-store-my-apps-my-phones-memory-sd-card.html - so, actually, you don't need that partition too :highfive:

hey so partition did not worked.
first i tried the twrp recovery method and it showed partition failed several times
then i tried mini tool partition from pc through sd card reader. i could create the first partition the one with out problem. but when attempted the second partition for my internal storaga, it said windows do not support the second partition, i continued never the less but again when i opened link2sd, it did not read my second (ext2) partition instead it read my main one fat32 and it said that it could not link my sd with ext2/3/4 only fat 32 .... any idea whats happening ? and i could not get turbo boost mod, instructions arent clear enough ..
does it have something to do with my custom rom/ kernel ?

Well, like it said on Link2SD app description: You should have two partitions on SD card and both should be primary.
The first FAT partition is your standard SD card storage. The second partition is used for application files and can be ext2, ext3, ext4 or FAT32.
Some phones lack the ext2, ext3 or ext4 file system support and you may get mount errors like "no such device", "invalid argument". These phones need ext2.ko or ext3.ko modules and even some additional modules to be able to mount. Using FAT32 on the second partition will eleminate such problems, because FAT32 is supported on all phones.
Try partitioning on pc using: http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/ or http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html or some other program, just make partition FAT32
Regarding Turbo Boost: just put zip file on your SD card, install it through TWRP and follow on screen instructions... :fingers-crossed:

Use settings in link2sd to pick partition that you want. I don't have any other idea, sorry...
My Xperia Play's intenal memory is starting to get lower day by day. I currently have 91mb free available and i've already uninstalled many apps that i don't use daily. I've heard of the link2sd partitioning method but whenever i try i get the error "Mount script cannot be created" and i've tried all the options e.g ex2,3,4 and FAT32. I've gave up on that so now i'm wondering is there any way to get my internal memory go up since apps take up more and more space.
Do you have enough space on sd card? in my case, link2sd made ext2 partition with 1.4GB size on 16GB card (it didn't even ask me how much space it needed). Since i click it just for curiousity, i had to format that sd card in windows to get that space back. I don't need it because link2sd can move apps to sd even without that partition. Just don't move apps like widgets or launcher, all other is safe to move...
Or if you are using GB stock based rom (and you have unlocked bootloader) you can use kernel with 700MB data partition

I have 6GB space left (i think that's enough) and i only tried to make a 1GB partition. Although you can move apps to the sd, not all of the app goes to the sd, a part of it still remains in the internal storage By partitioning, you can xfer all of the apps data (aka link) to the partitioned part of the sd card. Have an unlocked bootloader, currently using xperia Z final rom by markpython (ICS)

What kernel are you using? Is others init.d scripts are working for you?

You might want to try Lupus ICS/GB v7 kernel
It has 610MB data partition (and ICSbeta have 380MB, as i recall)
But make sure you read all the info in 2nd post (esspecially under bold "important" lines)
In short, make cwm backup and/or app(and data) backup (with titanium backup)
Also, you might want to check this thread if you want to test other kernels
Just found out ur the owner of the other thread anyways what difference will it make using the other kernel? Will it fix the error "Mount script cannot be created"

As i said, i'm on GB and script worked for me. I don't know why you are getting that error. Maybe it's ROM, maybe it's kernel related, but i'm only guessing...
I just remembered something:
try to update your busybox (to fix script error)
you can do it with app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer
ok thanks ill give that a try
Just bricked my xperia play :c
I'm stuck on the LuPuS kernel bootloop
EDIT: ok i fixed that now and thanks the partitioning problem has been fixed. But i picked up a new issue. O the walkman music player app when i try to download music info it gives me the "unknown error could not download"
Hello everyone!
Can anybody tell me how to use app2sd in CM12.1? Whats the recommended partition type ext2 or ext4? Is there any size limitation too?
Thank you for reading!

Link2sd working fine on both CM12.1 as well as Resurrection Remix. I don't know if there is max limit on second partition but I am using 2GB partition. EXT4 is faster that EXT2, ALWAYS!
Yes, I've got Link2SD working fine for me
Used a 2GB Ext4 partition to get the job done!
I don't know this for sure but after using Link2SD to link the apps to sd card battery life has increased significantly
Might be just an illusion though
is there any way do directly install apps on sd card from play store on Xperia M with cynogenmod 12 or 12.1...

We do have option for moving apps to sdcard but can't install them directly sdcard. Using link2sd helps though

But due to this we can't really download large apps from play store. This is so annoying
