[Q] Can't download through apps - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I had some issues with phone, flashed new stock ROM ...when activating, it did a factory reset...
after that I rooted with PhilZ.
Since the factory reset I haven't been able to download ringtones or anything through 3rd party apps. Also, Titanium Backup says all of my folders are not writable.
Hope someone can assist with this one

Did you install SuperSU from the Play Store? Philz only adds the SU binary. You could also try flashing a custom ROM.

Does it work with NDC, and can it be flashed with PhilZ?

[Q] Flashing of any JB ROM fails

Hey wonderful people of XDA,
I picked up an S3 yesterday and rooted it no problem. I can install ICS roms fine, but CWM errors out when trying to flash a JB rom (I have included a pic to show exactly what I mean)
It is a Telus S3, but from what I've experienced before with rooting, AT&T should work as well. However, correct me if I am wrong.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Read that. It talks about error 7, although they said they fixed it. The first time I tried to flash AOKP that happened and I just rewiped everything and tried again and it worked.
Thank you! I'll check it out
I had same problem I just updates to 5.8.4.7 and it worked fine, make sure to fully wipe

[Q] need help with gs3

Hello, i just purchased a new galaxy s3 virgin mobile edition..
I had like 6 updates when i turned it on and now i am on 4.4.2 kitkat which it's called kot in the system file..
Anyways i have been searching and searching for an easy oneclick root program..
I haven't been able to find anything that works at all...
So i am here to ask everyone on here..
Is there an easy sure fire way to root the galaxy s3 vm version?
That doesn't involve changing the rom or flashing something that might break something or brick my phone...
What happened to samsung? They used to be so easy to root and unlock it was like melting butter...
Thanks in advance
TowelRoot... Philz recovery has a one click root. Plenty of options. NDC is what your firmware is called BTW.

What I just told you to do (Philz Recovery, use the one that ends in ".tar.md5" in Odin- turn off auto reboot in Odin, it helps) then hit Reroot in Philz Settings after you get into Recovery, go into the Play Store and download SuperSU and go into the app and update binaries. This method is tried and true for your device.
My ROM: WICKED X
Do you have a link to the Philz root page?
I'll try it if I feel like it's not gonna brick my phone. Never had to root through Odin..
Thanks

All major initial root methods always ask you to flash a custom recovery through Odin always.
What he explained is correct you are just going to flash Phil's custom recovery then boot it into recovery click re-root and once booted install SU and update binaries.

Yes and yes. Make sure to uncheck everything in Odin before flashing. My ROMs both have the hotspot, Wicked X and Wicked S5 Xperience in Android Development.

If you're on NJ2 all you need is a custom recovery to flash the ROM. Then just follow the instructions on the thread. I recommend Philz Recovery.

I would not flash this depending on your region. I believe I heard this was only for TW users. I'll need to check wth our team.

So apparently it's okay to flash, but has tweaks for TW users. But it is better to wait until the update comes (soon).

well from a custom ROM to stock you should always do a wipe.
To install this rename to update.zip and run?
Can I install this with TWRP or mus I install previous the stock recovery?
Thx.
You can flash it manuell with twrp. Also it is possible to do it as update.zip, then it's running it automatically trought the twrp.
