Hi all,
I have an Ace 2 I8160 which had the original rom till yesterday. I went through some post and I decided to flash the TeamCanjica CyanogenMod10.2. I did and everything seem to be ok, but I can't get network signal on the phone. I mean, I do a operator scan and I see the operators in my region but no way to select one, or when in auto select, same results. Same with APN, I believe the settings are ok, but still no 3g connection or whatever.
Do you have any idea what could go wrong?
I've been reading and some people says it could be a corrupted EFS folder, but I didn't made any backup at the very beginning so no way to restore it. When I enter in the key pad *#06# it display the word IMEI but no imei is shown... this gives me the felling of being this problem...
Does anybody have idea of what could be wrong? do I flash a new flash? is there any way of recovering the phone?
Thanks a lot for your help!!
More details pls:
8160 or 8160P? You said 8160 - But only to be sure.
Which FW did you have before: GB or JB?
Post your Baseband.

Hi thanks for the help,
more details;
It is an I8160, at the beggining I had GingerBread 2.3 and I flashed straightforward CM10.2 with JellyBean 4.3 (I think that the problem cames from the fact that I didnt pass by the JB4.1)
When I input on the keyboard *#06# to see the imei, it display the word imei but no number, however from the menu where you get the info of the phone, there I can see the correct email and a baseband (I8160XXLL2) which I don't know if it is the original GB or the new JB (I still have the new JB CM10.2)
Any idea on how to fix it? If I go back to a Stock GB with the 3 files, PIM... and then to my regional GB would it work? any ideas?
Thanks again!
Ll2 is gb.
Yea it would work
Solved
Yea, after flashing the russian version with the PIM and then a EU version is back to life!!!!
Thanks all!!!!!

Hi Everyone,
I have a rooted Galaxy Nexus, Verizon version, and just flashed this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849
Unfortunately I did not do a backup of my IMEI folder, which I realize now was a huge mistake. If I do a "*#06#" then the screen comes up with a blank IMEI. Baseband version is unknown, network unknown, phone number unknown.
I've been searching around all afternoon and tried a few things, namely:
Installing the JDQ39 radio, and
Manually adding my APN (Verizon)
The radio didn't seem to make any difference, and I was unable to get my Verizon APN to show up in my list of "Access Point Names." After I save the info and name it still doesn't appear on the list, even after a reboot.
So, I'm not sure if I'm even on the right track, the most promising post I've found is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17587351
But in that post, the OP says I must have the "shipped original EFS folder on my phone," and I don't really know where to even look for that. If anyone has any insight I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks in advance for the help.

Wow, there I was thinking I had bricked this thing and really I was just dumb enough to download the wrong version. I flashed a ROM that was actually meant for my phone, reflashed the right radios, and now it works again! Thanks for the help.

Hi everyone,
6 days ago, I left my previous carrier (Bouygues Telecom) for a new one (SFR).
As I'm not used to buy my phones from a carrier, I did not think of simlockage... but I should have !
Because, last monday, when I installed my new SIM, I found out that the phone was locked.
I cannot join my previous carrier (access requires an eligible phone number, which I no longer have since I left them) and my new carrier cannot help me.
So, today, I tried to downgrade to an official 4.1.1, for trying the unlock via dial caller *#197328640# code method. But this failed. I installed GalaxSimlock app, and I found out that my IMEI wasn't the same: yesterday evening, it was like 354666... and now, it has become 004999...
I tried to restore my efs with TWRP recovery, but the IMEI remains the same... but I'm sure that IMEI was "good" when I backed it up (10 days ago). As long as I don't have any more solution, I would like to know those of you who faced the problem and, the solutions the found to fix the issue.
Thanx in advance.
If your imei is based on new rom, won't work old rom. At least you need newer baseband. Look my signature for multitool, that have option to update modem. (mg1)

Thank you for the quick reply.
Right now, I'm downloading the MutiTool_AromaV11 - Basic version.
I'll edit when further info.
Thank you very much ! That restored my IMEI !!!

My IMEI has changed too after a NAND restore. I had an efs backup to restore, but this made no difference. Now I can't register on any network.
I need help as well.
I used DrKetan's tool (which is excellent) but my phone now says I have no SIM card. I can't get the card out to clean it, etc, (It's a cut-down to mini-SIM original SIM card, usin a cutting tool from Amazon)
Now I've used the advanced multitool version. My IMEI is now restored and all is well in the world.
Steven
Good! Can we use multitool to r flash MG1 modem while on an old ROM? I wanna test this ROM with my original IMEI.

Yeah it's only way to restore imei on old rom. You can flash mg1 on old rom too and purpose to add it on multitool is only this.

@dr.ketan
Since this thread is about the same thing and since the OP has resolved his issue Ill mini-hijack it .. thanks
I have somehow killed my phone signal today while trying new roms.
I did a TWRP backup first of course including EFS.
At some point I could no longer get signal so I tried to restore my nandroid. The EFS fails to restore in TWRP.
I tried your tool to restore modem and while it completes it fails to restore my signal.
I wonder if you might have some other idea for me.
Thanks.
Give detail which rom you have flashed before nandroid
What rom you have right now (dial *#1234# and post result) after nandroid.

thankyou,
started with hellybean http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2134990 then tried a couple of TW roms and finally this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2119003
Now back to the hellybean nandroid which works fine apart from the efs restore which fails.
I completely wiped inbetween the TW and CM roms. I thought it was a good idea but I guess maybe not.
There is hardly anything in /efs just the imei folder which is empty and nv_data.bin and its .md5 as well as nv.log.
...
The twrp backup has the efs.ext4.win file at 5mb.
(i posted in the twrp thread too by the way, I hope thats ok)
Hello XDA,
I've been having this issue with my sim card since right after I flashed the latest CM 11 nightly (coming from a previous version). I just updated my bootloader and switched from TWRP to CWM earlier today. I had flashed the new nightly and after it asked for the system language, I received a pop-up window telling me to review my sim card instructions. This hasn't happened to me before, so I am extremely nervous and have been searching the web/forums for the entire afternoon with no such luck at finding a solution. I finally decided to make an account and post this thread with hopes that someone will be able to solve (or at least point me in the right direction to solving) my sim card error. Sorry if the answer is very obvious and I had missed it or something, I'm in a state of panic to be honest :crying:
Any help is greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I found a few links to a site for unlocking the network, but is this what I am looking for? I want to be 100% sure before I do anything risky. (I can't post the link because I am a new user :/ )
Did you update to the 4.3 bootloader? Which phone do you have?

The bootloader I have installed is I747UCUEMJB. I assume it is sufficient because it was the latest one that I found available that worked with flashing the CM 11 nightly. My model is SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 by the way. The carrier is at&t. As some additional information, I've also tried restoring to the backup right before the rom flash that started my sim card errors and it didn't fix it.
EDIT: Also just found out that my IMEI number is "unknown". I tried entering *#197328640# into the dialer, but I didn't get the network menu (maybe it was taken out of CM 11?)
Sorry for the double post. Just realized that it might be a 4.4/4.3 issue rather than CM 11 as for not having the dial pad menu. Are there any ways to generate a new IMEI based on the one found on my phone's label, and if so would there be a way to flash it onto my phone (did the connection menu in the dial pad get moved somewhere)? I wasn't aware that this scenario was even possible for the year or so that I've been flashing roms, so I'm coming to terms with having to buy a new phone
Maybe this will help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117

Thank you, this is exactly what I need! My only problem is that I can't seem to figure out which COM port I need, I'm searching that thread to find an answer but no such luck yet.
EDIT: Sorry about that, just connected successfully, yet when I write it over I am getting an error that says the phone is not answering. I skipped the *#7284# step due to the 4.4 dialer not launching the menu, and instead I tried using the Diag method but it gets stuck halfway through and doesn't finish the command. Any ideas? :-/ sorry to be such a bother and thank you for your time
EDIT 2: I guess an option would be to downgrade to 4.3 somehow so then I can use the *#0808# code to access the menu. I'm not entirely sure if reverting from 4.4 to 4.3 is safe though

If not, you can try format your phone using 3-files GB Stock ROM
via Odin and upgrading it to latest JB Stock ROM.

Hi guys, and thanks for the help,
Can I flash now the JB and then the GB?
Im not sure, but I believe it is not a Baseband problem as I can see it when I check it on phone details...
a bit more of info;

Hello, everybody. First of all, I apologize if this is not the right place to post this.
I got an Ace 2 about a month ago. It was unlocked and running on Gingerbread. I didn't know anything about Android before and I tried to flash a custom ROM. By doing so, I wiped my IMEI and Baseband. I have tried almost anything that there is on the internet and I haven't been able to recover it. I followed this guide step by step (I even asked for help in that thread, did what I was told, no success).
When I dial *#06# I get an "IMEI null/null" message, and on the device's information, it says "baseband unknown". Since I have no IMEI, I can't access the Service Mode, I only get a blank screen. So I couldn't try that method either.
I am currently running on a stock Jelly Bean downloaded from Sammobile (a Portugal version, since I heard that one and the Russian didn't have any RAM problems). I have tried reinstalling several times, upgrading, and nothing has worked so far. Please help me recover my IMEI and baseband. I don't have the money they charge in my country to fix this. Thanks in advance.

As often said: Custom ROM (CM11) on GB will not work. JB is needed.
I suggest to beginn from scratch by flashing (ODIN) 3-Parted GB FW - Be sure you pick the correct one for your Phone 8160 or 8160P

maybe only modemFS flashing (CWM) will also help (DJM is me on Andriod hilfe)
