I tried OTG on the new nexus 7 (with root and stickmount) and usb flash drive and usb keyboard worked. but i got no luck with CF/SD card reader and freedompop stick.
anyone else tried and succeeded?
I remember someone claimed the 1st gen nexus 7 supports the 4g stick out of box, so what's the possible reason that the 2ed gen does not support? lack of power? I don't have a powered usb hub so I cannot verify it.
You can get a 32 gb currently for £12.85
A 64gb for £20. Grab em while you can!
I have a 16gb and it works brilliantly

I got the 64GB version but can't get it to work with my nexus 5. Es Explorer just says "can't read, only fat32 and ntfs supported". I've formatted it to ntfs but no help..
Have you tried stickmount?
To be honest I just put it in and it worked fine and I've seen others in threads say they have this too

Hello everyone,
I am super excited to get a Shield TV in the very near future. I just want to get the fastest experience possible with the most space. At first, I wanted the Pro with 500GB, but after reading and hearing about other people's experience, the 16gb standard version with the external SSD like Samsung 850 EVO and it's fast.
So which would be better do you guys think? I know the 2017 hasn't come out with the SSHD yet, so we have no way to compare the SSHD vs a SSD, but I have a feeling that using the SSD as the internal drive for the 16gb Shield might be faster than the Pro 500GB internal. It would be only $70 more to buy Shield 16gb ($200 + $170 = $370) vs Pro ($300). :good:
Your thoughts gents (and maybe ladies)?
Thanks,
-Marcus
Yes it's slow to format, and it's even slower to install from what I gathered though a SSD would only be a breath faster than the normal SSHD in the Shield TV. My guess here is the SATA interface is the Bottleneck here? But, it seems somewhat comical to compare either to eMMC though.
OK So I bought a Nvidia Shield TV thinking it would have the 16GB of storage as previous versions and no it doesn't the storage got decrease to 8GB which is a joke and the RAM got decreased to 2GB which is also a joke. I don't know what Nvidia was thinking, they even removed the USB ports.
Anyways I used a 16GB Micro SD card I had to expand the internal storage and installed a bunch of apps. But now I want to upgrade the Micro SD card to a bigger one without losing the apps or data.
I read of ways of cloning an Android Micro SD card to a bigger one without losing the data. Will this work for the Shield TV if I formatted the Micro SD Card as System Storage?
You should have bought the Pro then
Not sure what nvidia was thinking when they did this. The os is 32bit, low space and ram not very future friendly. The price is not exactly cheap either.

im shocked they even went with a 16gb model? i thought new one would use tegra x2 or xavier and have 4gb ram with 32gb and 64gb options. shame they dont bring back the hard drive. at this rate the best shield tv device is the original 2015 model that has a hdd.
next model will have 640kB of memory and external floppy drive and we will still buy it
Hi all , hope you can help , I have a gen 2 fire TV box , it has 2gb ram , basically if I'm watching a stream it looks like I don't have much of the 2gb ram left , I've even bought an android box that has 4gb ram and 32gb storage but it's only a cheap box off the Amazon site , so my question is , is the amount of ram left in the picture ok or should I be using the cheap £40 android Q+ 9.0 box with 4gb ram ?? I'd prefer to use the fire TV but rather use the better box , thank you .
Anyone ???

I don't have issues with my fireTV running out of ram (it is high usage, but i don't see an effect). What issue are you having? Are you sure it is ram related?
Hi , nothing major , a couple of buffers on a couple of films I've watched , I heard ram can affect that so I thought as its low it might be the issue
