[Q] Lock screen Notifications - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone figured out how to get notifications on the lock screen? I'm trying to find a solution that works with the fingerprint scanner.
I know about nils (not a big fan) and wondering if there are any other options.

Security flaw? Lock screen

Noticed that SGN will unlock if certain apps with the 'heritage' style Menu button are open when the screen turns off.
The XDA app is one such example.
Phone can be unlocked by pressing the Menu soft button rather than using the correct Unlock Slider gesture.
I'm not currently using a pattern or face lock, so as a security issue its negligible, but has anyone else noticed a similar 'gap'?

Yes, but this only happens with slide to unlock which isn't exactly security

This had been noted before...
as joshnichols189 noted when the real security is active this doesn't unlock.
The only marginal concern is that it doesn't remain locked and your ass starts dialing
That's a good point.
Any 'true' ICS apps such as Google developed ones don't suffer from this.
Presume its a hangover for 2.x app compatability?
Back to a proper lock screen then...

[Q] cannot pull down notification bar when in lockscreen?

Just got my new Nexus today
But sometimes I cannot pull down the notification bar when in lockscreen
I have to restart the phone to be able to pull down the notification bar again
Anyone has similar experience?
Any fix?
I didn't think it was possible on the lockscreen to begin with
Sent by me, for me and i love you
Yes its possible in ICS.
Mine is working fine. So far. Do you have any widget on notification such as widgetsoid perhaps? But it should working though

Didn't know this was even possible.
I do have Widgetsoid yes, does that stop it working? Because I am unable to pull down the notif' bar when locked.
Well you could try to remove it see if that works. If yes then probably just minor bug on widgetsoid. I know some of the widgets are still not working on ICS

I too, was unaware of this option. Works fine on my GN LTE.
I believe if you have one of the more secure unlock methods active (PIN, face, pattern) it won't work. Believe it needs to be on slide to work.

Yep, only works on slide.
Thanks.
It's working now.
So weird...
Can anyone access settings through the notification bar when locked?

Only when you have no pin or pattern to unlock. So its not any less secure...
Anyone know of a good replacement for the lock screen on the GN? Say one which lets you launch messaging, phone etc from the actual lock screen?

[Q] Undersized pattern lock screen?

Hello everyone
i've been trying a lot of roms lately mainly searching for a stable smooth jb rom. i've found a good amont of them but a lot of them seem to have a simmilar problem: the pattern lock on the lockscreen is a lot smaller than it should be. it's the normal size when I set it up in settings but when i lock my phone and unlock it again, it's like this:
the distance between the dots makes it very hard to actually unlock my phone unless i completely focus on it which is quite frustrating. is there any solution for this annoying problem?

alternative lockscreen app that isn't bugged?

Hi everyone I've tried all alternative lockscreen apps on the market but they all share the same annoying bug : if I unlock sliding on a shortcut e. g. whatsapp. once I press back to quit the app and (logically) going to my home screen, it goes back to the app that locks my phone and locks it again. this is not really functional. all I was looking for was a way to have different wallpapers for both home screen and lockscreen. tired of having the same one for both. suggestions?

It's not a bug, it's programmed that way.
App called widgetlocker can do what you want.

Request: a type of screenlock

I was looking at the screenlock app from the xda front page, and toyed with it a little, however, it made me wonder if anyone knows of, or can make an app that disables everything put the dialer?
I hate letting my kids use my phone because I never know what they are gonna snoop thru or if someone is going to send me something I wouldnt want them to see, it would be great to be able to lock out everything but the dialer in this type of situation... any thoughts?

You can use an app that locks out other apps. That way you can lock the apps you don't want your kids having access too, then disable SMS notifications and they will never read them or see them.
