U have to restore the EFS backup with the same tool u used to create.
Try Agni Kernel and flash one of the modem files.
If not, try this link: repair via kies.

Search the Agni kernel thread to know the exact procedure to flash the kernel.
Modem file should be of ur country.
1. You can flash it with Mobile Odin. Drop your firmware on SD card and only flash the modem ( of course after flashing Agni)
2. Extract the modem img from your firmware and flash it with Dr. Ketan's Multitool. (Upzip the tar file to get the modem)
B4 you do any of that, try the kies method. It should work.

You said "some overseas" ROM, then I think root is the way as it is region locked (as all new Samsung devices).
Got it connected it was something to do with PC as I was trying it with Windows 7 and works with no issues with XP
How do I do a clean install to flash stock rom as when i try it some files and folders are still present
Do hard reset before and after flashing.

Custom kernel is better with some custom ROMs.
I am using W7 Ultimate and no problems at all.
I would suggest you to uninstall all Samsung stuff, clear PC cache and restart. Reinstall drivers connect your phone and let install drivers. Don't install KIES. Unplug phone from PC and do hard reset (either via Menu or Home+Vol Up+Power). Then turn off your phone and reboot to download mode, connect to PC wait for driver installation and when Odin shows/recognized phone proceed with flashing. It takes about 5 min.
My CSC showing TSI (???) but flashed generic UK(BTU) and generic German (DBT) ROMs without any problems.
I have used this ( I9195XXUAMH2_I9195OXXAMH4_BTU) from Sammobile.
Not sure about Samsung's region lock, but I think its just 3 regions : EMEA, Asia and Americas.
As the tile says, I need some help, possibly a walkthrough tutorial, on how to get from rooted stock FJ12 to Dirty Unicorns 4.2 ROM on my SPH-D710VMUB (Virgin Mobile). I had it running fine at one point and then things got screwed up after I updated to 4.3 and tried making to modifications to fix some issues I was having, so I had to revert back to rooted stock. And now, for the life of me I cannot remember how I got there. Any new ROM I attempt to install via recovery throws an error (error 7 if I recall correctly) and will not install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you mean DU 4.3..
Make sure first you're on an ICS modem...if not. Flash it in recovery on the tw ROM you're on now so you can update prl/profile..If you need a cwm recovery for the stock ROM you're on..Look in rwilco12 repo for a custom kernel with cwm for you're build..
This is how I flashed it..
Boot to cwm on current ROM...
Wipe data, cache, dalvik cache and format system
Flash DU 4.3...wait
When it's done...Don't Reboot..Go to advanced and pick reboot recovery
When new recovery comes up....do the wipes again
Now flash DU 4.3 again
Reboot when its done..
Let it settle for a few ...
Boot to cwm
Flash gapps...reboot..
Enjoy...:good:
Thanks. I'll give it a try when I have time in the near future.
The issue that I'm having is that recovery won't flash anything and just gives me an error every time. Is there a way to upgrade the recovery without switching modems?
Mobile Odin, PC Odin... You probably have the stock kernel, which won't flash anything.

Find cwm in tar format and flash it using pc or mobile Odin.

Mobile Odin is an app that allows you to flash kernels in tar format... Find it here on XDA.
Thank you for your help. If I continue to have problems I will continue the conversation later, but for now I'm going to try a touchwiz based ROM since battery life on stock seems so much better.
I'm following these exact steps and I can't get 3G nor 4G to work.
I used ODIN to get ICS stock rooted, then installed the CWM Kernel, and installed DU 4.3.
Any help here.. I've been going crazy for months trying to get this to work.
Thank you.

I've tried different scenarios of installing a different Virgin Mobile modems after doing a full wipe/cash/etc. I've also tried doing a stock install of JB (after trying a stock VM ICS) before i wiped and installed DU 4.3. I read somewhere that 3G and 4G for Virgin doesn't work on the new DU 4.3.

So please can any one bring me a four files rom which contains PDA , MODEM , CSC and a fourth one which I don't remember because I've never used it
It seems you have the last secure bootloader that doesn't accept older firmwares.
You can only flash MK4 firmware on it with odin.
Flash this firmware with Odin.
You have the new bootloader.
Good luck.
@naroku is this four file rom cause people told me that the problem will be fixed by four files rom not one

The difference between four-file rom and one-file rom is the way to flash it with Odin.
With four-file ROM, all images is in one .tar.md5 file (boot.img, system.img, and others), and you have to flash only this in PDA on Odin.
With one-file, you'll need to download all files separately and flash it separately on Odin (one .tar.md5 or .zip for each partition), choosing one by one.
The ROMs hosted on SamMobile.com or Samsung-Updates.com is the four-files ROM in only one .tar.md5 with all partitions included. I suppose this is the easier way to flash any ROM.
Try to do a factory reset in recevery then flash the same firmware twice, sometimes my phone/computer does not change the baseband the first time I flash a firmware.

Do you have EFS backup?
It is the factory mode in the second image which comes after building generic EFS.
You have to restore the EFS backup if you have.
Otherwise use someone else S4 mini i9192 EFS backup.
But that will be illegal because you both will have same IMEI.
No I don't have an EFS backup is there any other solution
or will it be solved if I flash 4 file rom

Anyone ?????????
Ok quick summary: (Or long version here: [[Q] Older MD4 NAND backup applied to MK3 or ND8 phone)
Old Phone broke, used NAND backup to recover to new phone.
Old phone at MD4 using CM10.1.2, New phone at ND8, was stock.
Used NAND backup made with CWM to restore to new phone.
IMEI (and all other associated info) is now unknown if I flash back to stock (using the NAND backup I made)
IEMI information in CM is there, but has the previous owners phone number.
New phone gets data access (LTE only, doesn’t get 3G), but not voice/text.
Added: I did try using Samsung Tool - Universal Support to make a backup , all I got was an empty folder.
My question is how can I recover my IMEI from CM and get it to stock so I can do a prefile reset to get the phone to fully activate.
NEED serious help, I am going crazy on this.
Why cant things go right and be easy?
ODIN ND8 tar. I don't recommend using a backup from another device. I thought it was a good idea when I got my new S3, in short, it's not.

So Using the ND8 tar will get me back to stock with IMEI information intact? If it does wonderful!!!!
Can't try it now, at work.
I was hoping to use my backup so I would not have to rebuild from scratch. But will now if I have to, getting desperate.
It should. Only way I can think of to put it back the way it was when you got it.
My ROMs: Wicked X & Wicked S5 Xperience
Thanks, will know later tonight when I get home and give it a try.
Added Info:
I did attempt to go back to stock by loading a NAND backup I made of the phone before loading my backup (old phone). I did this to make it easier to activate the phone, and this is when I found the IMEI info missing.
Not sure if this will make a difference in your answer above about the ND8 tar working.

Thanks...I hope it does...then I'll just load CM10.3 and rebuild from there.
Here is what I will do later tonight: [FULL RESTORE][TAR] Stock ND8 Odin FLASHABLE [4.4.2]
Then pray that it will work while it loads....don't like popcorn.
There would be dancing in the streets right now if it was sooo cold.
Odin the ND8 target recovered me back to stock with IMEI intact. Cheers....
now to flash CM...
Probably this is a common issue, and you may want to kill me after opening a new thread for this. I'm so sorry, at the moment I'm very worried because my phone suddenly lost network services and I have no idea how to deal with these things, I'm really bad at flashing and such thing.
Problem is that after a year and half since I bought my Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100, suddenly today this issue appeared.
The device has root access (not performed by me) with Kingo SuperUser/SuperSU. Once I realized it was rooted, I googled and proceeded to perform a factory reset (restarted device with power + volume up + home buttons, which leaded me to android system recovery 3e), which didn't help at all.
If I dial *#06# the IMEI it shows 004999010640000 / 01 but the one I see under the battery slot is (2014) IMEI: 359xxx/05/853xxx/4 (I don't know if this data is relevant, just trying to help).
I found this thread in this forum, which seems to be the same problem I'm facing right now, but I don't have any backup of those files, plus I don't know how to flash this specific phone :crying:
I'll really appreciate any kind of help you can provide me to fix my phone.
Here's a screenshot of the device info (it's in spanish but some names are easily understandable)

Have you tried flashing the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com?

Thanks for the advice!
I haven't tried anything but a hard reset. I don't know how to flash a phone, and I'm pretty sure I can screw it up if I try xD
I just heard about sammobile.com, but I don't know how to proceed even on that website.
Anyway, I hope there's something I can try before making that kind of "flashing"
If the imei doesn't get restored after flashing the latest stock ROM from Sammobile.com, you would need to try other methods to fix there imei problem.
Common issue... More than you imagine. Happens to me all the time. But I have one solution in my case Wich is just flash the EFS partition in my previous nandroid backup, but since to be you only were rooted and not custom recovery, I guess you don't have a nandroid backup. Only solution here is flash thru Odin and all will be good.

I get your point, but I don't want to flash the ROM if I'm not sure that shall fix the IMEI Plus, I don't know how to do it, and what to download from that website.
