Post this in Q&A. check the disaster recovery thread for more information related to this problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170
I would recommend to you to download some custom rom, extract the boot.img and flash it via fastboot. After this, the recovery mode should work, and you can wipe data, cache and dalvik, then install some rom. After that probably the flashmode and fastboot should work perfectly, and you can install the stock rom, if you want, of course. I'm not responsible for other brick, but i don't think that those steps could brick your phone. I follow this procedure when I brick my phone and it works.
wait, how could you possibly brick an Xperia with Bootloader locked???

Unlocked bootloader, right?
Well... I started flashing with the FXP CM based roms. I suppose that this is exactly what you did, but since you didn't tell the steps you followed, I'm gonna write down how I did the first time:
With an FXP CM based rom (eg: FXP CM 10) , the steps, basically are:
- Extract the boot.img (own kernel of the FXP roms) of the .zip and put the .zip in the sdcard
- Flash the kernel in fastboot mode:
( fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img
fastboot -i 0xfce flash reboot
unplug the usb and start hiting volume controls to enter in CWM)
- Wipe data and cache
- Install the .zip (rom)
- Reboot and enjoy
Hope it works for you.
Aactually I am not. Able to flash kernel image with fastboot.. I mean with flashtool I am not Able to flash kernel image.. flashtool is showing error that my phone is not rooted.. but it actually is..
And suppose if i want to install ROM( jelly sandwich) can u tell me the procedure from the scratch, I ll really appreciate it.. coz I am trying for 2 days with negative result...

I'm noob too, so unfortunately I can't help in the most effective way.
The only apparent difference between our phones (from what I understood from your post) is that I unlocked the bootloader. I read here in XDA that some roms just need this while others not.
"can u tell me the procedure from the scratch, I ll really appreciate it" - You mean unlock the BL?
It's easy, but may void the warranty... Go here: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
(Note: In my case I didn't install the sdk, but I just can't find the tutorial that I followed to unlock the BL... Anyway, the tutorial that I've used was in portuguese... Not much help for you I guess
Note2: In the middle of the process, you'll have to inform your IMEI in the sony website... Use just the first 14 digits).
There is enough information in the guides and stickys to help with most things, People just need to read it.

When I want to know sth, I search and then I will have more than I wanted.
1. unlock the boot loader
2. Download a custom kernel for your current version of android ie: GB/ICS i suggest DoomLord.
3.Put the kernel ( .img ) into the same folder as you have fastboot/adb
4. Power the phone into fastboot: Power down your phone. Press and hold the menu button then plug in your usb cable (the light on the side will be blue)
open a CMD window in the same folder as fastboot/adb and type the commant:
fastboot flash boot NAME OF FILE.img
push enter.
Once the install is complete (a couple of second) you will have root and custom recovery.
Make sure your phone version is rootable
There are guides available in the General section, I suggest you read them if this is your first root.
Good Luck.
Thanks guys I appreciate your help.. I ll try
i've got a C6503 ROM Stock .434 with Unlocked Bootloader and i really want to install PAC Man CROM.
Can you gimme tips or a tutorial? I don't know how to root my phone because of the unlocked bootloader and don't know how to install a recovery and a kernel for it :/
I've hard bricked my phone yesterday but by luck i've did it work again using flashtools. I fear to do something worse, my version was 4.2.2 .423 and i was trying to install DooMKernel + Recovery, so it bricked. Don't know why.
Well, any help will be very useful. i'll be grateful for any help!
And i've did a recovery on my external SD Card before unlocking the bootloader and do something wrong that bricked. So i've got some questions:
Can i install any recovery tool for unlocked bootloader and recover my backup, even that backup it's rooted and have clockwork MOD Recover for LOCKED Bootloader? Or i need to relock the bootloader to do it?
Edit: BAD ENGLISH! Sorry for any error

Pull the boot.img from the latest PAC stable(the nightlies aren't working atm) and flash that using fastboot, then proceed to flash the PAC zip in recovery. That's how I did it anyways, as for root, PAC rom comes rooted already, otherwise you can look around for a flashable zip that contains supersu/superuser and flash that.

You need a unlocked bootloader to do custom roms however there are custom roms for locked bootloaders too.
Sorry, but I do not understand what I said apparently what happened is that the Xperia download a recovery and install Z, instead of one of the Xperia ZL. After restarting the phone, the phone did not return to start. Sorry for my English but is very poor.
Anyone know what I should do?

The problem is not that I can not install because of the bootloader, but that installing the recovery that was not the cell does not start, it is not detected by the FlashBot or the PC.
For AOSP roms like CyanogenMod you need an unlocked bootloader.
Locked bootloader works only for stock kernel based roms.
If your phone is already rooted and BL unlocked, download CyanogenMod http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=odin
Extract the boot.img from that .zip-file and flash it via fastboot.
You'll need fastboot drivers installed to work! (--> http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/40599174/file.html)

Hi everyone, I have an Xperia Acro S and recently I wanted to unlock my bootloader to get acces installing custom ROMs, now I've a question about unlocking the bootloader, I have read/seen many tutorials/videos where explain the official way to unlock the bootloader, in all of them say that I need to provide the IMEI to the Sony web, so I can get an unlock code; the IMEI has 15 digits, but I've seen only first 14 digits it's needed, today I used the entire 15 digits, got an unlocked code, but I don't know if I'm in the right way, or I need to ask for another code using just the first 14 digits.
I hope anyone could help me.
Thanks in advance.

Nah You are doing right, only first 14 digits are shown online since it is not safe to publish own imei on internet. Since You received an unlock code, it is safe to assume that You are going the correct way.

Yes, as long as You provide it on the Sony website, it is safe to do the procedure. And don't worry, it won't make Your device un usable.

Hello, If you flashing a stock rom you use flashtool but if it's a custom rom your phone has to be rooted. Please follow the steps to root and etc.
"If you come from a stock Sony firmware image please flash this kernel before via fastboot:
Quote:
Attention: your bootloader need to be unlocked to flash a custom rom like SlimBean.....a good step by step tutorial you find here:
http://androidlegend.com/how-to-unlo...peria-s-lt26i/
after that you can go ahead with the next steps below
1. Download:
(Kernel or if the rom has a boot.img file that will work)
2. Turn your phone off and hold the volume up button and plug in your USB connection and wait till the LED is getting blue
3. Terminal command to flash:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
4. Reboot your phone and wait till your LED turns violett....in this moment push the volume up button and you have access to your custom recovery
5. Connect your phone with USB and push the downloaded roms and gapps to your phone now with the terminal command:
adb push <filename> /sdcard/
6. Wipe data/cache/dalvic, format system, flash the rom and the gapps and you are finished "
The end. Good luck Please have you custom ready on hand. Download SMS backup app to backup your sms's, root not need for this. Your apps should download on it's own after a few minutes when the phone is on and working.
Happy modding.

No, flashing with flashtool and recovery is different.
Flashtool : You can only flash stock firmware(the .ftf files) or kernel (.img , .elf etc) using flashtool.
Recovery : The recovery is used to flash the ROM and kernel's in zip format, they cannot flash .ftf files. Also they can't flash files if they are not in zip.
If You are going to use a stock based ROM(i.e. JB ROM's) then some Developers need You to flash the Stock firmware(ftf file) first and then flash their ROM. So You flash the stock firmware(ftf) via flashtool and then flash the ROM after installing a recovery.
If You are going to flash a Kitkat ROM, then simply follow the earlier steps.

I think the first question is: Do you have adb / fastboot / flashtool on your computer, with drivers for your phone? If so, rooting is probably not a big deal. If not, or if you're not familiar with them, you'll have to start there.

If everything is ready, and bootloader unlocked, easiest way I've found is this :
- Download pre-rooted rom with recovery zip to sdcard
- Download CM boot img and TWRP recovery img to PC, (adb folder)
- Turn off phone and connect in fastboot mode, (make sure to check 'unknown sources and adb debugging on phone)
- Open command prompt, go to adb folder, flash boot img, flash recovery img
- Reboot to recovery and flash pre-rooted zip
Now you have root and recovery so even if you don't want that rom, you can download what you do want and flash it.
With locked bootloader you'll probably have to go a different route.

For boot img you can download a rom and pull the boot file out, or search some forums for one posted. I am happy to post one but not too familiar with the rules on that. If you have trouble, maybe I can. To see if bootloader is unlocked or unlockable, there's a hash code. Not sure what it is exactly, but easy to find with a search. If it is locked but unlockable, Sony has an official procedure. Just search for Sony Mobile unlock bootloader.

What FW version do you have? I would suggest you do not unlock the bootloader. you lose some of the image processing features and other proprietary software. instead use NUT's tools: download the recovery and the tool for your model and FW version, and run it. it's easy and no problem.
EDIT: if that does'nt work, use xperifirm to download a firmware, PRF to root it, and flashtool to flash it to the phone. all quite straightforward, no BL-Unlock needed. there's a thread for every tool, and they all have a GUI.
Root without downgrading first?
