When I started using my tablet a week ago the keyboard showed me an @ symbol in the bottom left and a .com symbol on the bottom right.
These have now disappeared. I found them very useful and helped input speed. While I can quickly get the @ by pressing sym the .com is now not available.
Did I change something in the settings? How do I get back the original keyboard?

Click to collapse
These symbols are available when typing either on a text field that expects an Email address or a text field that expects a web address.
Try typing on the "To" text field in the Email or Gmail and you should see the @ symbol
Try typing on the address text field on either Chrome or Internet browser and you should see the .com
Thanks, I have noticed that I get the keyboard sometimes but not always. I guess this is controlled by the website you are on.

When on the today screen, you select new message. Upon seeing the new message screen and intellipad input method is selected, you can't use the intellipad to choose names in contacts. You can type out the name of the person in your contact, but it won't automatically complete the name, and verify the contact you are sending to (with the contact's cellphone number displayed). But if you type a contact's name using the keyboard, after hitting 3 keys, it automatically displays candidates that you can choose to send message to. This creates additional hassles, use a keyboard to select the contact you're gonna send message to, then sellect intellipad to input text messages. It's kind of a hassle. Any ideas?
Agree.
I do it the other way around...when I want to send a text message, I click on the call button, find the person I need with intellipad, then click and hold the name, and the menu that pops up allows me to send them a text message...easier and faster this way!
Ok. Thanks for the tip. Sure hope somebody fixes the issue though.
Unfortunately, it's the way IntelliPad was designed.

Instead of trying to handle the entered text on whatever text box/trich text pad/label/unsupported text object, IntelliPad builds the word in it's own little box until you tell it to move on (by pressing enter or space), and then just moves the word onto the active control.
This way, you have less issues with the text not working as expected, even though it causes the one or two niggles like in Messaging .

Previously, when I would start to type the To: of an email, at the bottom of the screen there would be an entry with a match from my contacts - or at least I thought it was from my contacts. Recently I lost my email account and had to create a new one. Now the auto type does not work. Is it because of the new account? that the auto type really worked from previous email addresses entered in previous messages?
if you use a keyboard with predictive text then it doesn't work. If you're using the slide out keyboard it should work.
Does it work of the contacts list or previously sent emails?
in my experience, it should pull from your contacts...it's a bit buggy, to say the least...in the "message to:" field, you can press the "enter" button to select from your contact...i end up having to do that most of the time...
Did you install swype recently? I noticed it wouldn't pull up contacts when I installed swype, only when I backspaced one letter would the contacts be pulled up.
that may be it...ive had swype installed for quite sometime...
It is swype that has made the closest match selection stop working. Even though I am individually typing each letter (not swyping), the swype keyboard does not seem to allow it.
Hi!
I have this very annoying problem. Sometimes when I compose a new message, and I'm about to type in the name of the recipient, the letters and list just disappears after about 3 letters, and "deselects" the recipient window, so I have to touch it again to activate the keyboard.
Often when I write with the keyboard, my phone appears to kinda "forget" that I just typed in a letter when I follow up with the next letter to fast. This doesn't happen as long as I keep pressing the letter before typing the next one.
Anyone experience similar problems? Would've been awesome if there was some kind of fix to this...
Thanks in advance!

In stock web browser, when i type words in text field (where the website itself doesn't have custom auto-complete feature) there's this drop-down that gives me matching historical entries (for example when I typed "ba" it shows "banner", "banana", "balcony", etc. whatever I ever typed in that website before).
However, selecting one of the item in that drop-down does NOT replace my partial typing. Instead it appends my selection to the text field. For instance after I type "ba" and selected "banner", the text field becomes "babanner".
Has anybody come across this issue? I tried searching in XDA and even google for this but didn't find anything that's even close to this issue.

Bump
me too
I'm having the same issue...its very annoying
Just saw this thread. I have the same issue as well, and it's so annoying..
Could this be an update or WTF ?
Anyone notice this?
I use predictive text all the time, but in Chrome search box I get no auto spacing while typing and using predictive text.
Any other time I use predict text it works fine.
Pp.
I've noticed this too. Been annoying the hell out of me.
Chrome search format has changed and now when you type your typing in the address bar at top instead of a search box. Stupid updates.
