I have Virgin Mobile version of the HTC Desire 816. My phone randomly switches to gsm and deletes all my apn and 4g settings. The only way i can fix it now is to flash an old nandroid backup and restore all my app data. Does anyone know what could cause this? By the way im using the stock rom with the wp mod, for system write access.

I have a Galaxy Nexus GSM on Virgin Australia network (optus).
I flashed the Android Revolution 2.1.2 GSM Rom onto my phone this afternoon and have lost data connection (ie hspa) but still have voice/sms connection.
is it because the baseband has been changed to the european one (kk6) and i need to change it to antoher one?

Check your APNs and see if you have the correct ones listed.
My guess would be baseband but go to settings, mobile networks and try to reload the default APNs. Happened to me recently and reloading the default APNs did the trick. Hope you get it sorted.
Now the phone can't send sms or utilise data, this is after I realised I didn't use superwipe before flashing the rom.
Now I used superwipe and flashed again, and lost sms capability.
I flashed back to google rom but same issue.
Fixed the data issue.
Need to know how to fix the smsc ISSSUE NOW
XXKK6 baseband will not be the issue. Its a pentaband phone and the radio supports that. Search for Virgins APNs and also try playing with the radio network default. Dial *#*#4636#*#* and select Phone information then hit the 3 dots and select radio network
EDIT just read your last comment. Ignore my post

Hello, I recently purchased a rooted and unlocked Tmo T999 on Swappa for use on my AT&T plan. I can get voice and sms, but no data.
The phone I had previously was an HTC Inspire 4G with a data plan, and from what I've read in the forums, the T999 should be able to use the same data plan as the Inspire (no LTE, just HSPA+). I had to get a new SIM card, since the Inspire uses a regular sized card. I called AT&T and had a CSR confirm that the IMEI they had registered for the new Sim matched the T999's. The CSR also provided an APN to try (wap.cingular), but it didn't work. I've also tried the pta and phone APN's, to no avail. I tried each of the APN's on various ROMS (root66's UVDMD5 and UVALH2 rooted stock firmwares (flased via ODIN), CM10.1.3, and LiquidSmooth 2.10). With each firmware I did a full data wipe/cache wipe/dalvik wipe before trying the APN settings. I also did a factory reset (via *2767*3855#) on the UVDMD5 and UVALH2 firmwares. They reset successfully, but still didn't get data. What's strange is that when I did the factory reset on UVDMD5 and UVALH2, the CyanogenMod SG3 bootscreen came up momentarily before resetting, even when I tried using stock kernels. The T999 came loaded with CM 10.1, but I do not know what method was used to achieve root or unlock for the phone. I've been working on this obsessively for three days, and I've read through several posts on this forum and others, but I still can't make this work. Can anybody help me?
If you are trying to use apn's from those T999 roms, you are just getting the T-Mobile apn's all over again.
Go to the AT&T forum and find what their correct apn is, then try that.

Oh and generally it doesn't matter how you factory reset, they all reboot and use the current recovery. Just sayin cause I don't suggest using dialer codes for things like this. Too easy to make a mistake and potentially cause even more problems.
The boot screen comes up because factory resetting reboots recovery. Perfectly normal.

Hi fellow xdaers,
have been a while since i last flash / rooted an android device.
i have a T805Y running KitKat when I bought it from Telstra (Australia). i have then flash the generic Lollipop ROM (T805YDOU1BOG1_T805YXSA1BOG1_T805YDOU1BOG1_HOME) using Odin.
since then, i am having random lose of 4G connection and no way of getting back my mobile connection until a reboot.
does anyone knows if I can load a Telstra modem (perhaps a modem from KitKat using Odin (not rooted). my suspicion is that the gneric Lollipop ROM is not liking Telstra 4G sim card. i have to restart my T805Y every 2 days. disabling mobile network/enable flight mode still does not work for me.
my access point is telstra.wap.
when the 4G connection goes offline, i am not able to make any changes to APN/network mode. when i select network operators, it says 'can't connect'
restart is the only choice for me.
Thank you.
If you find out let me know please. I have the same model and would like to install custom roms but I think our model has the extra 700mhz LTE band needed for Telstra 4GX.
After the recent OTA update, I followed the steps here to restore root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/guide-root-optionally-s-off-radio-t3373025 and mistakenly installed the latest version of SuperSU when I should have installed an encrypted version (or set the encrypt flags).
After losing the radios for mobile data, I tried several methods to restore stock (twrp restore and stock recovery on current and previous versions, 2PS6IMG on SD root dir, RUU updater) but have not been able to recover the radios.
The device is still S-On, I'm thinking going S-Off and flashing an earlier version might get the radios back. Are there any other methods I can try?
I'm not sure if the radios really were affected after rooting. After my last HUU flash, I manually entered the APN for AT&T's HSPA+ I was able to get mobile data with the 4G icon. I don't remember if this phone has anything that indicates LTE, my vague memory says it's only displayed 4G ever since I've used it.
What I don't believe however, is having to manually enter the alternate APN for AT&T. I think the preset NXTGENPHONE APNs are supposed to work. Any other ATT users out there able to use the preset APN for ATT?
Did you happen to decrypt? Have to remain encrypted (forceencrypt) to have working radios.
When I rooted the first time, I installed SuperSU that did not have encrypt flags set. So I figured I'd lost the radios. But every time I restored, I never got the radios back until I decided to manually use an alternate APN rather than the built in configurations.
I just talked to AT&T Customer Service after finding a flag indicating changes were made to my data plan on the day I tried to root using SuperSU without forceencrypt. They said the system updated the service for the device probably because there was an IMEI mismatch. It took maybe 30-40 minutes but the person at the other end added my IMEI to their database and I can now connect to the 'NXTGENPHONE' APN.
I'm guessing my IMEI was never in the database to begin with and when I went to the ATT store to get a new SIM when I bought this phone, the tech at the store did some kind of work around to make the APN work. Maybe somehow the data radios being affected after rooting allowed their system to do whatever correction it was programmed to do. <shrugs>
I did also put the SIM into my old Galaxy Nexus just to see if it was able to access data, that being a 3G phone, maybe that could have been the reason for the system booting me off the APN.
First you need the latest supersu, i usually use the stable versions. And you have to advance whipe data in twrp to get encryption working again to get signal back. Don't remember the exact words/buttons because the version used in the rootjunky video has changed with the current version but they are the same buttons.

Good day.
I have question to XDA developers.
Is there any way to completly disable GSM modem on Moto5Gs? I want to use Wifi only, i don't want there to be any GSM connectivity.
Maybe by removing some modem firmware files which are loaded at startup ?
I have lineageOS with root installed on this device but can switch to any other, it is no problem.
