Are you still able to access twrp if so check under mount to make sure there is not a check in the boxes system and data if so deselect them and try again
---------- Post added at 07:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:38 PM ----------
I have had this error many times its always been the case with hellfire and others that have gapps baked into the rom
I can try but your in a panic and likely causing more problems give me time Im working
---------- Post added at 08:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:58 PM ----------
You can use kfu to download the update.zip you can find it with all the other files in kfu after its done. You dont have to connect your kindle to do so. Then use the mount feature in twrp mount your sdcard transfer update.zip from your computer to to your card unmount do a full wipe flash update.zip go back to mount to make sure there are no checks in the boxes of system and data then reboot of course since your usb port is so loose you will need to lean it to transfer update.zip to your sdcard
---------- Post added at 08:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 PM ----------
You dont need your apps and data your returning it
---------- Post added at 08:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:20 PM ----------
If you manage to get booted to the stock rom you will want to do a factory reset before returning
In case it did the same as it did with hellfire likely all will be fine I just said to look although you might be misunderstanding me a bit
Just put the entire zipped update.zip on your sdcard wipe and flash if you wish I believe kfu will perform this task for you twrp should prompt and tell you its ready to flash
---------- Post added at 09:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:58 PM ----------
Truthfully I dont get why you put hellfire on there in the first place all it has done is muddy the waters so far

Just to make sure you're not going the wrong way and brick the phone...
It seems I have a big mess on my hands, and would greatly appreciate any help given.
I have a Gen 1 KF with no factory cable. I just recently updated TWRP and FFF with the latest KFU. However, I can not do no fastboot or adb commands what so ever. Under my device manager it shows " Android Composite ADB Interface" but under my command prompt I get the error message "adb is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file". When running TWRP, I get the ADB status: online, and Boot Status: 4000 (normal).
With that being said, somewhere in this process I wiped and have no OS currently installed. It also says my KF is not rooted anymore and would I like to install, which I do but nothing happens.
When I reboot in normal status all I get is the kindle fire logo screen. I can get back to recovery thru using TWRP.
I have no idea where to go from here, and was hoping you guys could please help me out.
Thanks!
You need to be in the same directory as adb or set the path to include it.

I can get to the C:\kfu and see all the directorys and what not. Then I go into tools and I can see the adb.exe, and supposedly I should be able to type code: "adb devices" to see if its working properly but all I get back is the error message above.
Where am I going wrong here?
Are you using KFU?

Yes, I have the latest version of KFU 0.9.9, and it seems to be working fine. Can I still install a new OS using TWRP, but I can not get a zip file to the SD card on the KF to use TWRP to install. Right now I have no OS, and I can't push a zip without using the ADB commands, correct?
Correct. The error you're describing suggests that Windows can't find adb.exe Either change to the directory that has and or change path: to include C:\KFU\tools.

Thanks guys! I think I have most of this mopped up except one more issue. For some reason I can not get all the Goggle apps that TWRP has to install under the Extras options. I get a few but I do not get Google Store and some more. What would be the best way for me to add the Google Store app.
Also, I was able to flash a ROM . . currently got this one installed - OFFICIAL CM11.0 + 3.0.72 Kernel for Kindle Fire [NIGHTLIES]

google apps are installed with a GApps zip
like gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip like the rom zip
Many roms like CM do not include Google apps, because of copyright issues, so they are separate install files
---------- Post added at 10:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:50 PM ----------
It usually best to install the Gapps file recommended by the dev.
If there is not one recommended or link is dead, use a gapps zip for the same android version of the rom.
You installed a KitKat rom so you want to use a KatKat Gapps zip.
Google Apps are updated often, and usually newest gapps are best, as long as it still same android version as your rom.
I prefer PA Gapps it has a more detailed installer, and several different sizes depending on how much google you want.
401MB to 88MB , because the Kindle does not have a lot of storage, you may want to install the micro or mini versions
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
I tried to push a couple different GApps zip to the SDcard, and then use TWRP to flash them. It seemed to run successful but when the reboot took place, there was nothing added.
Where I am going wrong buddy, I am by no means talented like you guys when it comes to this.
Actually, the one you listed above was one I tried, and I also tried to push gapps-lp-20141109-signed

for all files you should verify md5 checksum with a checksum utility see https://sites.google.com/site/sdshadowscollection/home/hash-checksums
if md5 is incorrect, redownload
if md5 is correct, try the PA GApps
---------- Post added at 10:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:12 PM ----------
do not use lp or 5.0 GApps
using the wrong GApps can mess up the rom and you will need to factory reset in twrp and reinstall rom and gapps
I was wrong bud, I used the lp Gapps when I flashed the PacMan version trying to get the google apps. Then I wiped and went back to the ROM I listed earlier.
I just did what you said on the md5 and it was correct, so I tried to TWRP the pa micro and I got a long error messaging saying insufficient storage space available. How is that even possible at only 170mb?

GApps: gapps-kk-20140606-signed
TWRP: v2.6.3.1
Bootloader: FFF that came with the latest KFU
You have a custom bootloader or you could not access twrp
Version is on Kindle Fire screen when booting up in corner 1.4 1.4a or 1.5
Those files should be good, but gapps are getting old
I suggest using PA gapps
You will need to wipe again

yes... my bad.. you need to update steps.. as someone else might get same problem.
root access worked properly. :good:
now my problem is xposed installer.. how to install?
tried flashing zip, but device won't boot.
Xposed is not not available for our device yet...Wait until it fixed for our device. .. You can delete all xposed files to get rid on bootloop.
Solution
1. Flash recovery kernel from #1 post
2. Get rid on Xposed bootloop HERE manually : no flash required
I am not being harsh
I am just letting know what is happening, sorry if I sound harsh
already uninstalled xposed.
ok, so finally I manage to get it working,
1st performed clean installation of 5.0.2 ftf
then followed steps 1 to 9
then deleted the "prepared" folder under the folder "firmwares", (If existed).
then followed step 10 & 11.
started device & updated everything.
I got proper root access & everything is working fine :good:
Thank you :good:
Only problem is, cant boot in Recovery now, after everything is done successfully.
Hw u managed to work xposed on our phne its nt possible as it is not working anymore @rrd84

---------- Post added at 07:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:35 PM ----------
I did not try this method. But, i'm gonna do it soon, because i did it from AndroDef's thread.
He already uploaded for ARJ3, but i had ARIM. But, i'm switching back to ARIM and will surely try this method and will share my experience.
There isn't any custom recovery released for this device yet,but i already submitted a request in TwrpBuilder project a month ago, hope they'll do it soon, you can check it here, it's at the buttom (47,it's the 3rd oldest request)
https://twrpbuilder.github.io/downloads/twrp/#tab=inQueue
Also you can check the completed builds to see if the twrp building for the device is finished.

If you're interested, could you try this out? Just make sure you have the stock firmware to hand in case of any issues.

If it fails (i hope, it won't), it will take me long to setup my device again.

It's a partial success:
SUCCESS
1- Recovery flash is success (odin did not boot into recovery, instead loaded os).
2- After loading android, did a boot into recovery, it loads twrp recovery
FAILURE
3- TWRP recovery does not respond to touch or hardware keys
4- Device keeps booting into twrp recovery
5- Seems to be stuck in recovery mode
Brilliant.................................................................

Reverting to custom recovery, done.
Device is normal again.
A partial success though.
Might be issues with kernel, or something else.....
With your skills and my device, it can be done in a blink of an eye.

I'm pretty sure I can fix the touch issues.
Is ADB functional?

If adb works could you do:
adb pull / tmp/recovery.log

Well if you need custom recovery for xposed, there's xposed module in magisk that can be installed without twrp. I'm already using it and have multiple modules (gravitybox, xprivacy and greenify), all running without problems. For debloating, after your root the device, go to google play and download an app called system app remover, it'll show you all apps on your j6+. Select the apps you want to remove and press uninstall. After uninstallation is done, reboot your device

Sure, but never worked with samsungs. It's my first regular samsung device. Never liked exynos and cortex combo, but it's different.
Last time tried to push recovery.img via adb and it did not work. I have root and root explorer app installed. Where is that log located in system partition. I'm not an skilled linux coder guy but i have serious history with androids and palms.

Could not find /tmp/recovery.
But did find /cache/recovery folder, that contains last_log.1 and last_log.2 files
