Hi!
i kinda messed up my phone a little after trying to upgrade my firmware. I must have flashed the wrong one.
Fortunately i can get into the bootloader, recovery and even start a custom rom.
Unfortunately some things are broken there:
-BT not working
-cant install any apps from store
-some other things
now i tried to reset my phone to complete stock using a nandroid backup from the forum
i dragged it on my phone, twrp sees it and when i try to install it i cant choose the partitions to restore.
When i swipe it i get the Error:
E: no partitions selected for restore
i made a nandroid backup of my broken rom and i can flash this without any problems
maybe im trying to use the wrong nandroid? i tried several but i always get that message. What came to my mind is that there are some files missing in the nandroid backups i downloaded. its about all the 0byte .tar files. Are these interchangeable so i can just try to use copy the ones i have to the nandroid backup i want to install?
Can someone please tell me which nandroid backup i should get?

The bootloader 3.16 indicates your phone is on 1.12 or 1.54 software
any of these should work for VODAP102

I would try the first one first and be sure and check the MD5 of the files you download. It may also be worth your time to update to the latest version of TWRP

where are you putting the extradited files ?
they go in TWRP/BACKUPS/YourSerialnumber/nandroidyoudownloaded
in TWRP you can chang where it looks for the backup by simply click the word internel storage xxxxxmb or external sd xxxxxmb or usb_otg xxxxxmb
just choose where you put the nandroid you downloaded

I found this thread and post my problem here cause I have the exact same problem.
I made an backup with the "online nandroid backup" app ant want to restore it with TWRP.
I put the folder in TWRP\backups\myserial\ and it is available in the restore menu in TWRP. But when I try to use it the message is shown!
What can I do? Do I have to flash CWM to use my backup?

the backup must be in only one folder!!!! ex: twrp:\backups\myserial\here put the folder with the file in it...not a folder and subfolder

you have to copy only the subfolder in the twrp - backup folder.....

Hello, ive the same problem. I did factory data reset and while reseting, phone lagged i waited 20 minutes but nothing changed so i unplugged battery and now phone boots only in bootloader and fastboot TWRP, when i want to restore files from my back up it sais no partition selected for restore please help!

After selected the desired backup folder to restore, did you actually "check" the boxes for the partitions (Boot, System, Data) you want to restore (before you do Swipe to Restore)?
there is actually no box like this or i just look in the wrong place. To do restore i go to bootloader then recovery, restore and i just select the backup folder i dont know where schould i check that boxes.

Everywhere that I checked other than here, simply stated that the backup file had to be in the BACKUP folder.
After two days of failure with multiple attempts to install different roms for my S4 (I know, wrong thread) I resorted to the 'Restore' option. I was losing my mind until I found this post of yours. That 'YourSerialNumber' step is crucial.

Easy and useful trick, is to use TWRP to make a backup. For instance, go into TWRP, select Backup, check Boot partition only (assuming your device has that - I don't know much about the S4), which is probably just 10-20 Mb.
TWRP will construct the proper folder structure to save the Boot backup. You can then copy the downloaded nandroid to the same location.
You can put several backup folders in twrp:\backups\myserial\backup1, backup2
But remember (no sub-folders)
**backup1 and backup2 are two different backups. You can also rename folders for your ease but you can't rename (myserial folder) otherwise it will disappear.

Useful info. I personally like to rename the backup folders (after TWRP generates the backup) with details about the ROM, date, etc. such as: "Stock Rooted Magisk (2-2-18)".
I know TWRP auto creates a file name, with the date and time of when the backup is made. But I still like to change the date format to something that is easier for me to understand. Plus some details on what exactly the backup contains (rooted or not, stock or custom ROM, etc.).

Sure.
TWRP -> BACKUP -> choose BOOT only -> execute
now check where the image was saved eg: ext: /TWRP/BACUPS/XXXXXXXXXX/DATA.../files
now delete what is in the XXXXXXXXXX folder and move your folders there from the path / TWRP / BACKUPS / YYYYYYYYYYY /
this is because it was re-uploaded TWRP and now have a different backup path (folder XXXXXXXXXX)

Hi all,
I have had my Note II for a day now and I love it but I seem to have an issue. I rooted and installed CWM 6.0.1.5 (modified version by Phil I believe) using Odin and I of course made a backup of my stock rooted ROM before I started flashing anything but when I tried to restore my Nand it says that it cant find the files and cant open the location. The CWM backup file IS there cause I can see it when I plug my phone into my computer but it wont restore and yes... I've tried EVERY restore option there is in CWM - Restore, Advanced Restore, Restore from External, Advanced Restore from External, so on and so on...
Can anyone tell my why I cant restore my Nandroid? This concerns me as well should I ever need to restore my backed up EFS as again, it just wont restore anything from CWM.
Anyone else with this issue or know what to do about it?

When I choose to flash anything from Internal SD it is now taking me to a list that shows /0, /obb and /legacy (or something like that) and then I have to choose /0 in order to gain access to my actual Internal files.
I actually have 2 of these sets of folders some how after flashing so now when I try and flash from Internal SD I have to choose /0 AND THEN ANOTHER /0 to access the internal card from CWM. This is quite weird and annoying to say the least. This behavior is also shown when searching my device using ANY file explorer and when I connect my phone to my computer as well - IE. I have all of these extra folders showing.
Can ANYONE explain why this is happening and how to avoid it if at all possible? Is this just something new in 4.2? I am currently running Jellybam 3.52 - 4.2.1 ROM.

I've seen articles regarding the backup function of CWM, the backup files have to be in the following path on either the Internal or External SD Card. I'll use the below path as an example for an external SD card.
externalsdcard/clockworkmod/backup/[What ever you want the backup to be]
When you use the restore function from CWM and navigate to Restore from External/Internal SD Card. It should come up with the name of the folder you chose in [What ever you want the backup to be] and be able to restore your Nandroid backup.

My Nand is in CWM. I dont use TWRP.
As I said... My backup is on my internal sd card in the exact same format as you described but when I go to CWM and try to restore it first says "cannot open directory" and then immediately says "no files found"
Ive been using CWM since my original SGS and I have never seen this happen before. I can see it in my File Explorer, I can see it on my computer when I plug in the device but I cant get CWM to find the file to restore it.
Im about as confused as it gets...
Im testing something right now... I am making a new backup of my Jellybeer ROM to my External SD card to see what happens. IF it will find the files after its done I will advise but I still dont get why it wont restore from my internal card...?
*EDIT* So it seems to have backed up to the ext. sd card and I can see this file when I choose to restore from ext. sd but... it was the FASTEST backup Ive ever seen. It literally took like 45 seconds if that so I hope its a full back up!
IF my memory serves me correctly... When I backed up my stock ROM (my initial back up), I checked for the restore when it was done and it was there but then I flashed Hyperdroid and then I flashed PACman and then tried to restore my original Nand and it wouldn't let me so I wonder if I flash something else (which i don't want to do right now cause Jellybeer is serving me well at the moment) am I going to lose the ability to flash my Nand again?

Thanks for the reply but... What would cause this to happen? Did you read my post where I backed up to my external sd card? Like I said... The backup literally only took like 45 seconds to complete which is weird unto itself.
What will flashing a stock ROM do to fix this? And when you say "stock" do you mean like "stock - unrooted"?
did u install cm 10. just read it propyl with cm 10.1 ie jb 4.2 creates a 0 folder all ur files get put in there

Chenglu is the one I used when I rooted my device by using Dr. Ketans guide and now I cant get ANY of my NAND backups to restore...
With regard to the /0 file issue - Yes... I am running a 4.2.+ CM10.1 based ROM so I understand that it creates those /0 files but it just keeps on creating them after flashing anything new!!!
Your issue is related to the new JB 4.2 and multi-user feature. CWM cannot find backups since they are moved to a different folder
The day you need your backup, just install a JB 4.1.2, move your /0 folder to root of sdcard and run your nandroid

Thanks for the reply my friend! So...you're saying that IF and when I need to restore my nand that I will have to install a 4.1.2 ROM first and then follow your instructions to move the /0 folder to the root of my sd card (i assume by using a file explorer of some kind in the 4.1.2 ROM itself?) and then flash my nand? Is that correct? Should I keep just any old 4.1.2 ROM on my device at all times for this purpose?
If so then what if I have multiple /0 files created as I do now? Currently I have 2 /0 folders and this seems to grow as I flash anything new. Do I then move ALL of the /0 folders to the root of my sd card before I can restore my nandroid backup?
Also... Why was I not able to restore from my external sd card using the option in your recovery either? I made a simple backup of my current 4.2.+ ROM to my external card and when I tried to restore it last night to test it said MD5 mismatch. Is this related to the 4.2 ROM issue as well?

delete 0 folder
flash cwm recovery with odin go into mounts
wipe caches and format system when done
power down then go into download mode
then flash stock img
that worked for me

Flash CWM with odin and then go into mounts? Firstly, what version of CWM are you saying to flash and then I assume you mean once thats done that I should then boot into recovery and then go into mounts? And then wipe caches, format system?

when in recovery wipe data n dalvik then go into mounts then format system
then power down,
then download mode,
use odin to flash stock img

What I did was... I flashed v6.0.2.7 via ODIN (which has 4.2.+ ROM support) and I am now FINALLY able to restore my Nand back ups!!! The only thing now is that I apparently have 3 /0 folders on my device and I REALLY just want to know how to get rid of the extra folders and to know how to keep them from being created altogether!!!
I have one that has ALL of the original .zip files, gapps, etc that I installed on my device, then I have one that has an efs backup on it somehow and has a couple of application folders in it and then I have one that is like stock.
Why are these being created and how can I get rid of them? This is driving me CRAZY!!!
I had the same issue this morning.
I fixed it by installing the aroma file manager addon in Phil's CWM recovery and using aroma to copy the clockworkmod folder out of the /0 folder and back to the root of the sd card.
Then when I went into backup and restore the backup was visible again.
Once you have a rom installed you shoudl just be able to plug in via usb and just browse the sd card on your computer to move everything back out of the /0 folder

You can install nandroid manager from playstore and you can fix nandroid md5 mismatch there or you can use terminal emulator to generate new md5 file in your nandroid (google it because i cant remember the command)

Is that cwm recovery on sdcard??? Please move it on your ext card and recover .

So here's the thing: I made a TWRP backup of my 16GB nexus before I returned it yesterday (multitouch issues, dead pixels) but see now that people are reporting an OTA update that fixes the multitouch issue. I would rather not restore that backup since it is the JSS15J system, so is there a way I can get the data of at least a few apps and restore them individually somehow?

Ok, can it read the data in the TWRP folder? I have used TB a lot in the past but didn't think it might be able to use the TWRP data.
If it's not compressed (I never do), TiBu can do it perfectly.
In Titanium backup pro in it's menu is the option to 'extract from nandroid backup' .
Did it just last week, so I know the current version works.

Use Nandroid Backup Manager. It's free.
It can restore apps and/or data, SMS messages, Call logs and more from your nandroid backup. It can also decompress the backup if it's compressed.
Advance Restore and just click restore data only on twrp

TWRP backups each partition separately, thus it can also restore any single partition so also /data

Of course. TWRP has no advanced backup&restore features because it doesn't need them: you will be prompted before each backup&restore action about the partitions.
For data of just single apps use better Titanium Backup. It can extract them from your nandroid backups

I think some of the gapps data is flashed to system, so it won't be able to completely restore it but after flashing gapps, you should be able to extract google apps with data intact from TWRP backup

Exactly what I do.
marsmallow 6 will update apps + data from your google account. Not sure it's fully implemented yet but it's supposed to work. I've tried it yesterday with a Mm6.0.1 on nexus 7 2013 and many apps were already configured. Not all of them. Going from MM6 to MM6.0.1 might complicate it so maybe it's better to restore with google and do a little work by yourself, to make sure. I gave up on those restore apps. It also give you the opportunity to do a clean up

I would rather not restore that backup since it is the JSS15J system, so is there a way I can get the data of at least a few apps and restore them individually somehow?

1. Go to File manager on TWRP recovery, it can read the system data i.e. data/data/ file (while your other file managers can,only data files on SD or ext.SD)
2.Go to data/data and locate the data folder of the app you wish to extract; will be in the format 'com.app name'
3.Push 'Select folder' tab on the screen; it gives you option to COPY the file
4.Move up & paste the data/data file on your readable memmory: sd/ext.SD
And that's it!! Just connect to the PC & pull the file & there u have: your APP DATA FILE!
I was tired using zip extractors, changing file names & struggling with command prompts; then found this[emoji4]

And believe me, I could repack the data into my new ROM just like that!
Not sure if this messes up with your system but I'm going great so far.
So you Upgraded to a higher OS and find some of your apps to be crashing on your new ROM & have a nandroid of your stock:
You are going to switch data files between stock & custom ROM!
1.Flash the Stock ROM & copy app data from the system files to readable memory, as mentioned above, just add a letter & Rename the copy(which again you can do with TWRP!) so that TWRP may not confuse with the new folder
2.Flash the new ROM, uninstall the app that crashes & install the compatible version from the store
3.Allow storage permission from settings; open the app & perform some action so that a storage directory is created,if not already, in the system storage
4.Boot to TWRP recovery in the new ROM , so now you have the data/data folder of the new app you just installed(which is empty) as well as the data/data folder from your stock ROM on your SD/Ext.SD
5. You know were this is going[emoji16] Delete the data/data folder on your running ROM & MOVE(again with TWRP only!) the one from SD ,after restoring its original name, to the data folder from were you just deleted the other.
6.Wipe Dalvik/caches & reboot
7. Other than receiving a pop up that there may be some trouble with your android system, on startup, everything works just fine for me & the App is fully restored!![emoji7]

I don't understand this step. I go to file manager, then navigate to /external_sd/TWRP/BACKUPS/... and there are files like data.f2fs.win009. Now what?
Can anyone help step by step ? Installed cm11 and twrp 2.8.1.0.

easiest solution is to restore from some one else his backup. It won't be fully stock since you still have TWRP recovery.
You can download a backup from here and here. I recommend b635 but it is your choice.
First make a full backup of your phone. Boot in twrp go to backup and swipe to backup.
Then in twrp mount your phone as usb.
Exract the downloaded .zip file. Then put that downloaded folder on sd card. Not the entire folder, but just the last folder.
Should look like this on your sd card: twrp>BACKUPS>022JBW7N3A017892(can be different folder name)>name of downloaded folder>11 different .win and .md5 files
then in twrp choose restore and select the one you want to restore to. One is your cm11 backup (you made yourself) and the other is the downloaded backup

I just purchased the G3 a few days ago, am up and running with V20C rooted with TWRP custom recovery.
For the life of me, after doing 2 backups, I can't find the TWRP backup folder/files?!
I've done dozens of backups and restores using TWRP on many different phones but have yet to encounter this problem.
I know that the backup's exist because my storage space keeps going down every time I try to backup.
Has anyone had this issue before?

It should be at:
/sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS
or
/storage/emulated/0/TWRP/BACKUPS​

There is a TWRP file in the root folder, size is 0 bytes. This is really odd..

What does > TWRP(Recovery) > Restore > Select Storage / very top line, go through options it gives and you should find your Backup, if it exists in TWRP.
After searching a bit online, I was able to figure it out.
Booted into recovery, then plugged in USB cable. All of a sudden, the TWRP folder magically appeared on my computer, and I was able to copy the backup files.
No idea as to why this is happening..

Hi, I had the same identical problem and I found this thread searching for a solution. Not a single file manager could find the twrp folder but it existed, I could'nt create a new folder with that name in storage/sdcard. In the meantime I found a topic in which an user finds his backups in DATA/MEDIA/(etc), I tried and it works, but still apps like titanium and others couldn't access that folder! In a moment tried to set selinux mode to permissive and immediately titanium sees the nandroid! I think this is a VERY IMPORTANT info, I have stock rom bumped and rooted, can anyone copy this post to a more important troubleshooting topic?
Edit: I see some nexus 4 users had the same problem, this could be caused by lollipop instead of the g3 environment or the root method or so

I was running a RR rom and got a msg about an update for my ROM. So i thought i would try it out. I made a full nandroid back up and after that updated my ROM. After the update my homebutton didnt work anymore. So i thought, lets just restore my back up again. I did a fully factory wipe, i flashed TWRP again on my OP3 because for some reason after the factory wipe i got the Cynogen recovery mode. So i put back TWRP, put my back up on my phone from my laptop, but when i went to "restore" nothing was there. I tried to move my back up from the "sdcard" directory to the root directory but i got an error which didnt specify what the problem was.
Can any1 help me restore my OP3 again?

Thats correct. When i go in the file manager, i see the backup in the sdcard directory along side the TWRP directory. I tried to move it with the file manager, but it gave me an error which was not specefied.

ok now i extracted all the files from the tar files, but what is the next step? I tried putting them on my OP3, but that does nothing. My OP3 still doesnt see a back up.
Another thing is something i saw is that in TWRP, when i shut down my OP3, TWRP says that there is no OS installed. Is that normal?
No that is not normal, the extraction is there so u can reinstall things, I will have to take a look at it again, do u know what all partitions u had backed up and did u move the backup location?
Lately backup in twrp recovery sucks.
Yesterday, i want to test another rom. So i wipe cache/dalvik & backup in twrp. I select all except rom img (3gb) and cache (zero). Try the new rom. Does not work for me. So wipe all except sd card & restore my backup.
Error..
I use only twrp 3.0.4.1, so it can not be a conflict in different twrp's versions. It's not the first time....
If you wipe youre phone, including sd card, go to recovery, backup and choose the smallest size file to backup. Recovery creates youre backup folder in TWRP directory. After that you can erase the that backup.
I flashed back oxygen (OMG I forgot how ugly oxygen was) last version, so I got a working phone again but ofc without all my media. I just find it weird that I make a full backup (I had everything checked) and I can't do anything with it.
I did full factory reset, so maybe that's the reason my OS got deleted aswell. What partition has the OS installed?
When I reboot my OP3, I get a msg saying that dm-verity has not started in enforcingmode and may not work properly. What does that mean?
