Hi guys!
Just recently I bought the "HDC Galaxy Note 2" off of fastcardtech. I got it a few days ago, am fairly pleased with it except for the slight miscalibrated touch screen. There are some apps on various markets aiming to fix this by re-applying new calibrations. The problem is that you'll have to be rooted in order to run them.
The phone comes with a built-in calibration setting, called "Als_ps calibration", which you can utizile to correct the sensor. Alas, it only corrects the phone's recognition of obstacles placed above it, so that you accidentaly wouldn't press any undesired button during a call.
Phone: http://www.fastcardtech.com/Galaxy-Note-2-Mega
Here's what I've done so far!
Enabled USB-debugging and installed USB-drivers. [MT65xx_USB_Driver.zip]
Tried the bin4ry root method, normal mode. [Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18.zip]
This method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Everything works just fine until the phone reboots. Bin4ry is then unable to mount or copy the last files needed to apply root permission, see attached picture.
I have attached my specs in a screenshot, nevermind the quality, t'was done by another crap-camera! Sorry ;]
Any kind soul who can help me root this thing?
Edit:
Rooting this device has been made possible by GT35pro. See posts below.

I just created the cwm recovery and root. The link is on my blog. The zip file is password protected so be sure to get it from my blog page.

After you have clockwork mod recovery, use it to flash the root access into the phone.
Have fun!

Extra Guide
Follow the link provided by GT35pro in his first post.
To everyone attempting this flash;
!! First of all, copy the Superuser.zip to the root of your internal phone memory or external SD Card.!!
* Use a high-quality mini-USB cable (The one that comes with your phone should work just fine)
* Connect your MEGA to your pc, without the battery inserted.
(This device will connect and disconnect, when it's visible, be sure to grab it and follow the next step)
* Make sure that you have the right drivers for MTK65xx preloader "mtk65xx Vcom driver" and install them through the Device Manager.
* Insert your battery again, with the cable still connected, and install the second MTK65xx preloader.
* Disconnect phone from pc and remove the battery
* Start up Smart flash Tool and select the scatter file included in the package.
* Now, select and tick the checkbox for Recovery only. Smart Flash Tool will complain about the flash, due to it not containing all the appropriate files needed for a "secure boot". Nevermind that pop-up and proceed with downloading.
* Start Download
* Insert the battery and connect your phone to your pc, with that, the flashing should start.
* Boot Phone into recovery mode (pwr button and vol - or vol +) and install superuser from ZIP-file.
* After reboot you should be rooted.

Fun Fact!
I actually managed to install a pre-rooted HDC S7100 rom on my MEGA.
The port isn't 100% accurate
-Invalid IMEI, this was fixed by Talkingmobile's guide; " how to write imei number for MTK 65XX " -Just google it!
-Auto-rotation is unavailable, no fix yet.
-Als_pl calibration is unavailable (resulting in active screen during call)
Besides that, the rom is arguably better than the MEGA's original N7100 rom, in terms of visual presentation.
Smooth transitions, vivid and vibrant colors would be a good example of aspects that would come out as improved over the original rom.
Interested in the S7100 rom? Just PM me and I'll provide the link.
Cheers!
S_ft_need_download_all_fail (4050)
I'm trying for several days, but always get this error in the flash tool: S_FT_NEED_DOWNLOAD_ALL_FAIL (4050)
Tried on Windows 7 x64, Windows 7 x32 and Windows XP SP3 (x32). Only on the Windows XP computer I was able to make a backup with Flash Tool using the Read Back option.
When I try to flash the red bar goes to 100% then the error message shows...
Does anyone get this error aswell, and did someone manage to solve this?
Please help, I'm in desperate need for root because I need touch screen calibration.
Thnx!!
YES! SUCCES!! I managed to root my HDC Mage  Did use another method though, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160490 if you are interested.
Anyway, now back to calibrating the touchscreen. What tools are good do fix touchscreen issues? I already tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934500, but I still am not satisfied.
Thnx :good:

Because I tried to order 5 different phones from China including Fastcardtech; they couldn't ship for some reason; even got an empty box from ZOPO mobile. I ended up buying the BLU here in the US, I'm kind of glad it happened, since now I have an N'vidia Tegra 4 CPU, that runs circles around the dual-core phones.
I did order one more phone on ebay from China, been waiting for 2 weeks now. MAKES ME WONDER IF THEY EVEN ACTUALLY SHIP TO THE US AT ALL?
Thank to Paypal I was able to get refunded everytime.

An 80Xx error does not always mean device not connected. It can also mean there is something not right in the scatterfile (error 8038). You should take a look at the sp flash tool logfiles. You can post them here so I can have a look.

There is something wrong in the layout of the scatterfile. Can you post the logiles of sp flash tool? Just zip them all together.
I have had the exactly the same error with my HDC Mage. I just had to rename a small section of the scatterfile and then it was all good.
Amazing Trick Requirement
*Android Device
*Opera Mini (It was only tested on Opera Mini but you can try on Opera Mobile and see if it works)
*File Manager(any)
What does the trick do?
I was derping around with my mobile
and found an amazing download. When I clicked on Download, I realised, oh BEEP
I was in Opera Mini, one of the worst download manager. One time your download breaks, it can't be resumed. I crossed my fingers and then hoped it does not fail. But it failed at 47 mb out of 50 mb
Fuuuuuuuuuu......
But then, I was so down, I decided that Challenge Accepted
I fiddled around and SUCCESS, I found out a way you can resume ANY broken download, even if you reboot your phone

For finding this trick(I hereby take no responsibility of your amazing data getting wasted trying or using this trick or your precious download failing or your device not able to run Bad Piggies or Asphalt 7 or Temple Run being laggy or IMEI loosing or Graphical Glitches or Devices bricking, blah)
Instructions:-
Read very carefully
1. Download anything IN OPERA MINI and wait it to fail (Here, we assume you downloading iamareebjamal.zip)
2. Once it is failed, DON'T CLICK ON RETRY and go to any file manager and to path of that file and rename it to whatever you like (eg: iamareebjamal2.zip)
3. Go again to Opera Mini and click on RETRY now.
4. As soon as it shows 0.1 mb downloaded, PAUSE it.
5. Go again to File Manager and you may see two files, first one which you recently renamed and new download file of approx 0.1 mb(or of size it was when you PAUSED it) [Paused file will have original download name such as iamareebjamal.zip]
6. Rename new file to whatever you want and rename the previously failed download to its original name [iamareebjamal.zip(paused download) -> whatever.zip] [iamareebjamal2.zip -> iamareebjamal.zip]
7. Go back to Opera Mini and resume the download. Download will RESUME from WHERE IT WAS FAILED. (f yeah) [Make sure Opera Mini isn't killed in renaming process as you may have to redo the whole process if it does]
8. Enjoy

No.
The op clearly states that it is for opera.
And other browsers (most) supports resume from break point. So its not needed.

Hello my name is Sean and I have recently rooted my phone (captivate glide) and installed a custom ROM. Whenever I try to update apps like the AT&T Code Scanner, Qik Video Lite, Andoid Keyboard, or even Google Play itself I receive this error message:
"Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again."
Also when I run certain apps like Spot Hero or Clash of Clans I get the following message:
"Google Play services, which some of your applications rely on, is not supported by your device. Please contact the manufacturer for assistance."
I have searched the forums and found a few instances with similar problems, but the issue was either never resolved or didn't match the problem I was experiencing. I've Googled the problem and a few folks suggested using Titanium Back Up to uninstall the app in question and then re-install, but I have read some users say that they are then unable to re-install the app. I don't want to lose any functionality, so I haven't tried that.
Here is a step-by-step of what I did to my phone:
1) Shutdown my phone and rebooted into download mode with Odin 3.04 running
2) Flash CLOCKWORK MOD RECOVERY 6.0.1.2 (found here)
3) Reboot in download mode
4) Flash stock ICS ROM (found here)
5) Flash Superuser 3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip (following the instructions found here)
5) Flash GApps.zip for 4.0.4 (found here)
6) Reboot and the phone says it's upgrading Android and optimizing applications
7) Once the phone is booted up and the SD card is done scanning I run into the problem described above
Has anyone encountered this problem before? If so, please share your insights.
Thanks for reading and if you have any suggestions I would welcome the help.
hello
i remember i had same problem when i was using ics, i think you shoulr flash anotherics gapps from diferent source. I do not remember where i downloaded mine
I tried some different gapps and I got some apps like Hangouts to update, but now I receive this message when I try to install Google Play Services:
"Incompatible with other application(s) using the same shared user ID."
I did some further looking into this and found that if I wiped my /system data and reflashed my gapps.zipp that seems to work. I installed Youtube first (since it requires Google Play Services) and that took care of everything.
Unfortunately I have lost any progress I may have made in my game apps and have to download/update everything from scratch and reset my ring tones and such, but at least I have a fully functional, rooted phone.
Actually I take that back. Google Play Services seems to be cooperating, but now I'm getting the package file signature problem again.
I resolved the issue by starting over and following Rawr0w0's guide half way down this thread.
Hello All.
I recently acquired a Moto 360 and began tinkering with it. I followed various guides to build a custom USB cable, unlock the bootloader, root the device, and install a custom recovery.
I did not want to have to keep removing the watch band in order to get into the custom recovery or going through the system menu to turn the power off or reboot. The few apps I tried for rebooting to custom recovery would not work for me. As a result, I decided to create my own. It is fairly straightforward and allows me to reboot, power off, or reboot my watch to custom recovery mode so I thought I would share it.
Functions:
- Reboot
- Power Off
- Reboot Recovery (Root required)
This is an ALPHA release and I am hoping to improve upon the app/add features as time allows (I am a father of a 2 month old, so my time is limited).
Installation Instructions:
1.) Download the APK attached to this thread and copy it onto your phone or tablet.
2.) Click and install the APK file.
3.) Open Android Wear and Resync all apps.
4.) Launch the app on your Android Wear device using your launcher or by going through the menu and selecting Start, then BuddhaBoot.
The usual caveats apply...by downloading and using this app, you assume full responsibility. (aka, I am not responsible if your device doesn't work etc)
Enjoy!

@Dollyllama this is a great idea dude. Fully support it, just trying to see if anybody is selling interface cables so I can join the rooted community, I don't have the equipment to build my own at the moment.
I did a quick search and didn't find another just general post about this version, although there may be one buried inside another thread. If there is another thread, let me know and I'll have this thread deleted.
Although the main page http://www.htc.com/us/support/rom-downloads.html#unlocked version # and Download link hasn't been updated since v2.41.617.3, the View page http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-10/news/ for v2.41.617.3 actually takes you to the proper v2.48.617.1 info.
Official download link Download (1.8 GB).
I haven't applied the OTA yet, so I don't have any other details than what you see here.

To exit download mode manually, use the volume keys to navigate to reboot and press the POWER button to select it.
Can this be installed on specific HTC 10's only or all? I'm stuck on 2.41.401.3 with January 2017 security update which I'm a bit disappointed about tbh.

Your device CID/MID must match the ones of the RUU. Short answer: unfortunately you can't.
We are all disappointed about that. Let's hope that now that the U11 is out, they will give some love to the 10.

If your cid-mid matches, you can install.
A Verizon S-OFF user can flash this RUU, from my understanding.
I am a bit lost in the questioning.
anyone know if this fixes the intermittent wifi problem
If only they would be more specific about "Bug fixes" -_-
I hate messing with my cid and mid just for an update with unknown fixes
